“Our 13yr old grandson had a lovely experience driving a lamborghini.the staff were all very nice the only thing I would change is that the staff start packing up chairs etc while there are still people waiting for their experience!! Be prepared for a bit of a wait tho has it is very popular.”
“I received my driving experience as a gift from my colleagues and I redeemed it at the Abingdon venue. The experience itself was great and the instructors were very good. I had booked the General Lee Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, unfortunately the General Lee was broken when I turned up so I substituted it for Dom's Dodge Charger instead. However, after going on my sighting lap, I was left waiting for my name to be called for 40 minutes... turned out I hadn't been put on the system.
They give you an 8gb SD card at the beginning which each instructor puts into their car to record your drive. I watched both instructors do this, but at the end I only had video of one of my drives. The other video was of some random guy driving a car that I hadn't even driven. No idea how they managed that, but I was disappointed to only have the one video.
Which brings me to the media. If you want your video and photo package at the end of your experience it will cost you £50 (provided you only drove 1-3 cars)... yes, £50!!! which is extortionate especially when all I received was one video and 28 photos, the majority of which were out of focus and all taken from the same spot at nearly the same angle. They also couldn't find the photos from my high-speed passenger ride. The guy before me didn't even have the option of videos as his SD card hadn't recorded anything at all! I tried to get a discount, but they weren't willing to entertain it.
Overall, it was a good experience but disappointed with the media side of things. Value for money and quality need some serious work in this area!”
“We bought two car experiences for our new teenager! The gift was purchased through Virgin Experiences and the gift cards were fab to wrap for the birthday boy.
Once we booked all communication from Car Chase Heroes was brilliant. On the day the process was a little chaotic, but he loved every car and the instructors were fab. Bring autistic our son sometimes struggles with new things and instructions but everyone throughout the day was lovely and he cannot wait to do it again - choosing different cars 👍🏼
Thank you to all those who helped us at Abingdon Airfield on 29 July. Marley and his family appreciated it all ⭐️”
“I am only critical of the long wait before my first drive. We arrived at 2pm for the 2.30pm slot and were seen about 2.45pm. The young lady explained the Corvette SS was unavailable but I could chose an alternative for a £10 upgrade which I agreed and selected the Ariel Atom drive plus the Ariel Atom V Storm experience with my mate. Sadly it was 4.35pm before I was offer my first ride in the Ferrari 458 on a damp track which I did with caution. With the wet track, no Atom but did the V Storm experience. I was however offered a Lamborghini Huracan ride which was exhilarating. It transpired that a lot of attendees had opted for the Ferrari 458 which probably explains the long wait. My conclusion are book earlier, arrive easier, drive the same car longer get finished by about 1pm to head home which takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. Altogether still a great experience and perhaps back later for the third time 👍😇”
“Upon arrival at the Oxfordshire site we joined a long long queue (10.20-11.05) and my start time was 10.30. I couldnt believe how many people were queuing.
Got to the front and was told 2 of my 3 chosen cars werent available (id driven 90mins past closer sites for a specific car that was only here when i tried booking online) gutted....i chose 2 others and as all the good cars were booked I had 1 i didnt want (Gran Torino) and had to pay £10 extra for the GT500 (considering 67% of my booking wasnt available a gesture of goodwill was hoped for here.) Maybe even a free atom passenger ride for the disappointment?
Once through this mess it was a good few hours and lots of fun with some good instructors by your side.
Dont book if youre after 1 particular car....go in with an open mind as a few people i spoke to had this happen aswell.”
“I was supposed to be driving the Optimus prime replica truck, I was told upon arrival that it wasn't available and to pick a car from the board. This was the main part of the experience, and was supposed to be a twenty minute drive!
I went out on track and found this was designed for complete novices as it was a square shape with very low speed short corners, no overtaking possible with many non licensed young drivers on track, this of course made it difficult to truely see how the cars drove. The car was a cobra replica that seemed fine until I tried to select third gear, the instructor then informed me that the gear failed the day before so I would need to miss this out.
For my third vehicle of the day I was walked over to a standard open top Mustang. This was not the "Need for speed" 11-14 supercharged iconic Mustang from the movie that I had chosen. I refused and the instructor looked confused when I pointed out that this was not the car that I had chosen, I also pointed out that the car I had driven to the event in was a higher spec Mustang than any available at the event. As with the truck I was given no warning that this was not available.
I will add that this was a gift from my wife, who was also very disappointed to hear of the issues experienced.
I have taken part in many driving experiences at many locations and this did not compare in any way. I will say one positive experience was that the waiting times were very good, with little delay.”
“First time in May both cars mechanical faults and not available. Terrible customer service as the only cars available we had to pay more for! We decided to give them benefit of the doubt and re book (which we couldn’t do on the day) had to ring the office which actually took me day’s to get through. We returned a second time Sunday 31st July at Abingdon for the same cars!! Both were off again with mechanical faults - no notification to us so our 5 hours round trip completely waste of time. Customer service is appalling, and why do driving instructors not want a waiver but this joke of a company scares people into £25 waiver or proof of £5k deposit. This is a scam! We refused to pay this and they were so rude to us! but so many did pay!!
Just think 400 people on the day Purchasing x£25 gives them £10k!!! The toilets were appalling, filthy and there was nothing nice about this experience at all. The viewing area was tiny and could barely see anything. The kiddies track is a different one too - feels a reduced experience which isn’t nice. Overall, a burger van, the cars (on the 2nd occasion) off the road, rude staff and filthy toilets....also please note the minute my review gets published the next review will be 5 star and all complimentary! They are a scam of a company with no customer service .AVOID!!!!”
“Excellent morning at Abingdon well organised, lovely supportive instructors and enjoyed myself so much in the DB9 I paid for extra laps! Contrast to the Cooper S
My son had a go in the GTR which he also loved thanks to all involved and I am already looking into rebooking perhaps this time with the Atom? Thanks again”
“I did an experience a few months ago and they lost All photos and videos of the day. We bought an experience for our grandson and again one of the videos didn’t come out atall and photos seemed very poor for the price they were asking (didn’t buy any)
Track was changed and seemed alot shorter and couldn’t really see anything from a spectator point of view. All in all personally don’t think it was good value for money”
“Had a amazing day at Castle combe circuit with car chase heroes, the staff were incredible, very well organised, can highly recommend this company to other people,we paid a premium price for this circuit but it was well worth the cost”
“My daughter Bought me a car experience day for Christmas, a bit late booking it because of the pandemic, I booked in at castle Combe near Chippenham and it did cost a little more because I wanted the extra bits! And I was expecting that, on the day they were very busy so I waited about half an hour! When I was out there in the car I paid a bit more to get extra laps because I was thoroughly enjoying my self, absolutely brilliant day. I would definitely do it again.”
“The car drive was a good experience but, had to wait a long time for the drive with nothing to do and
The photos were not very clear , of my face in the driving seat”
“Absolutely awful experience! Arrived on time for allocated slot 1.30pm and drive time of 2-3pm.
Greeted by a HUGE que and had to wait nearly an hour to check in only to be told the car we booked for my son to drive (his dream car ) was not available due to breaking down the previous day.
We had no choice but to choose another car and then waited a further 2 hours for my son to actually drive.
The voucher states 10 minutes/10 laps in the car he got just ONE.
Paid an extra £10 for a thrillseeker drive which was just in a BMW.
Paid £10 for my son to see the track prior to his drive which was a complete waste of time.
We then qued for another 45 mins to see the photos where we told only 2 were taken (there were meant to be more so they apologised) which were awful quality and no way i would pay even a pound for them yet alone £25!
Absolutely shocking experience avoid AVOID AVOID !!!!”
“I bought my husband a driving experience for Christmas. We went yo Wattisham on July 9th and arrived at 12.30 as stated. We then had to wait an hour just to be checked in. Absolutely ridiculous!! It was a very hot day to be stood in a queue. When my husband finally checked in he was asked if he wanted various other things that cost alot more! No wonder check in takes so long. I just bought him a gift he doesn't then want to pay a load more on top of that. The only thing he purchased was the damage waver insurance. Then they turn round said to of his cars weren't available. He choose some more was then told they cost even more!! Erm hello you messed up then you want to charge for more. He then had to have two cars he didn't really want. Great start. Its all just money making!! When he had finally checked in he got in his first car at 2.45pm having been booked for 1.00pm. After being sat on the wrong seat and forgotten about. Great!! Absolutely ridiculous!! We had our young son with us who suffers from Autism as he was very excited to see his dad. We would never had bought him had we known there was do much waiting around!! There was do many people there should be called car chaos, way more people than the organisers could handle. Needs to be at least half that or less. When my husband did get his drive he found the cars were automatic so he couldn't get the full experience from them. The track was not in view so my poor little boy couldn't even see his dad in the car racing! Then to top it all just as hubby was getting in first car they said no photos after god knows how many people had already been let through to take photos. I was furious and little boy was really upset he couldn't have a photo with daddy with the cars! We got do fed up we went and sat in the car as couldn't see anything anyway. Hubby then followed close behind as was so fed up he didn't even bother with his high speed passenger ride. He was so told when he went to purchase his photos. They weren't ready yet! As if we hadn't waisted enough time! Absolutely disgusting! Don't ever buy this it's absolute waste of money. It was such a hot day to be left waiting around as well. It's all money making! Hope you make some changes Car Chase Heroes! Disgraceful never buying this again!!!”
“I attended Wattisham Airfield on Saturday 9th July with my husband and son as I had bought a Car experience for my husband for Christmas. The whole afternoon was just a disaster from start to finish. We arrived at 12.30 as stated to do so. My husband then had to queue for an hour just to check in. Absolutely ridiculous! It was so hot as well. When he did eventually check in he was asked to pay extra money for so many other things which he said no too, apart from damage waver insurance. I bought him this as a gift I didn't expect him to gave to pay loads more on top of what I had already paid. Just trying to make money. No wonder it took so long to check in!! Then of top of that there was two cars he had booked unavailable. He choose some others but was then told they would cost even more. So he ended up in two cars he didn't even want. Erm hello not his problem the cars weren't available he should have been able to pick which ever ones he wanted and you should have waved the cost!! Disgusting!! His race was booked for 1.00pm he eventually got in his first car at 2.45pm, after being sat on the wrong chair and forgotten about. Absolute chaos!! I was Absolutely furious after standing around with my son who suffers with Autism. (Who I never would have bought had I have known we would be waiting around all that time) to then be told sorry no photos with the cars now. My son was so looking forward to seeing his daddy in the cars and having a photo with him! We couldn't even see him going round the track as it wasn,'t even in view of spectators. We got so fed up of waiting around me and my son went back in the car husband followed not long after. He didn't even do his high speed passenger ride as he was so fed up! Cars were also automatic apart from one do couldn't even get the full experience out of them. Absolutely disastrous day from start to finish and so hot as well. All about money making rather than enjoying the experience. Husband didnt even get any photos as they weren't ready when he had finished!! Do not ever book this absolute rubbish and waste of money!!! Hope you some improvements Car Chase Heroes!!!”
“no signs to guide us to the venue. paid to drive 3 cars, stung with a compulsary £25 waiver chage. weather was boiling hot, organisers sat compfortably under gazeebos whilst customers had no cover..long wait between drives . gave up after 2 cars.poorly orgaised.very disappointed, after waiting 2 years due to covid.”
“Had the misfortune of attending Abingdon today. What total chaos!! Greeted by a massive queue even though we arrived before our required time we couldn't get in because of registering and being conned out of £25 insurance waiver. Then to the pit lane to wait again!! Finally got the first drive then got called through for the second and waited 25 minutes plus for my next car, found out my instructor was taking out two different cars. Luckily that meant I got Domonic who was the only bright star in a dismal day, that was a great fun drive, thanks Domonic. Wish he organised the whole thing. My final drive was the Ariel Atom. Then I waited and waited. Turns out they had bookings for two cars all day but only ran one, the chaos runs deep!! Finally gave up at 5.15 because we had to drive back to Devon and I had lost the will to live by then. Suffice to say never, never again!! Captain chaos reigns supreme. They had 500 drivers today apparently 800 on Sunday god help you all!!!”
“We booked at the only site that had 2 of the 3 cars we wanted. We had an email 4 days before to welcome us. 2 days before the event we were told that 2 of the 3 cars were unavailable. The email said we could rebook, still waiting to hear!!! Wouldn’t recommend.”
“We purchased this experience for our grandson who has Autism ,he is mad about cars ,he told us it was the best day of his life.,the guys who took him round were great very friendly and he also loved the card which described how the experience was for them with keegan as a passenger. Thank you guys we will be back .he can't wait till he is 10 and can drive the cars himself.thank you for giving us a very great experience and a very happy little boy .”
“Had the truck driving experience it was great the instructor Gary was first class and made me feel at ease and gave fantastic instructions, learnt loads from him. Also did a car which was good but track a bit too busy.”
