Renewed my policy and took money from bank days before due without e'mail / correspondence saying so or cost of new policy. Absolutely pathetic telephone service and hidden charges everywhere. Will never renew with 1st central again and advise everyone likewise, irresponsible companies like that should not be allowed to trade

Having sold car, wish to cancel policy. Cost of policy £294.15 for the year, they want £95 just to cancel it, added to which 2% credit card fee. And they won't accept a cheque. Rip-off.

Slow to answer the phone, on hold for over 1 hour. Admin fees are a joke.

WASTE OF TIME - If you are trying to contact them by phone don't waste your time. Over 1 hour on hold to be told I'm better off doing things online. VERY HELPFUL

A driver hit the car and then left without leaving their details. Car was written off and only small value paid, no care paid to the low mileage or service stamps. Only age of car. SATNAV and spray gun stolen from boot and even though had a phone call to collect later this was denied. Finally they have refused to replay the remaining 8 months of my policy. Definitely would never use again.

Only two weeks into my policy and I have had serious problems with this outfit. They do not acknowledge any correspondence, preferring instead to send out automatic letters saying you haven't provided documents or made payment when you have. To cap it all their adjustment fees are excessive so it's difficult to get rid of them. Will not be renewing with them.

I have never experienced such poor customer service in my 12 years of driving. You cancelled my direct debit due to a system error multiple times you tried to add charges on there too. It was not my error and you tried to argue that it was. 6 months after I close my account I receive a bill from you. When I have paid all that I owe! I will be complaining to the relevant authority - appalling service I will discourage friends, family and anyone I speak to from taking our car insurance

Thieves and nothing more, do not waste your time with this company, I ended up having to pay the £153.00 in cancellation fees for a weeks worth of insurance and then wait 2 months for the rest to be refunded. absolute joke.

This really is the most awful company, found them via money supermarket, jumped through hoops to provide no claims discounts covering 5 years which they then refused to accept and even tried to claim £50 non-disclosure fee as i said I have had my drivers licence 25 years when i have had it 27 years (only choice on website was more than 25 years!). I have no faith that they would look after me if I had an accident as they have sent me weekly emails threatening time deadlines and varying fines for ridiculous amounts of paperwork. They finally said they wished to increase my annual premium by £100, when I disagreed and said I wish to cancel as I have no confidence in them now they have tried to charge me £180 in cancellation fees and said they couldn't cancel the policy unless I paid the fees! I will be making a full complaint to them, the financial ombudsman and Money Supermarket for promoting them. This complaint seems to match those underneath, very stressful month, just not worth looking to save money as suggested by all those tv adverts.

I renewed my policy with them and since recently I've had nothing but trouble. I had an accident about two weeks ago, I called them up to make them amare. They agreed to pay me out £600 for my car and £250 excess which I thought was reasonable. UNTIL TODAY- they've told me I have to pay £400 in full which is the premium left on my insurance even though I want to buy another car and keep my policy running until it expires in May. Stephanie Belton the "manager" was disgustingly rude, unhelpful and had a disgusting attitude when it came to her finally calling me back after her "busy day" of been in meetings. DO NOT GO WITH THIS INSURANCE COMPANY THEY ARE A FRAUD. I'm taking legal action as we speak and have informed the ambusmend.

Do not be fooled by the low prices - this company will get its pound of flesh! I had a policy with them (and still do until I can change it) for 3 years. I had a driving conviction (3 points - SP30) and declared it to them as per their contract. I was told there would be nothing further to pay. A month later a snotty e-mail demanding £96 for this conviction - including a £50 admin fee. The policy was for £250 and the extra was almost £100 for an SP30!! I will not use them again and would prefer to pay an extra few pounds on my insurance rather then deal with them again - no doubt they will try and sting me for a cancellation fee....

1st central is a disgusting company which left my car on the side on the road for 4 days uninsured..took my 150 deposit and then told me it error and my policy was void till a report came back said be on Friday 2 days and ended up being the Monday after ...so paid for no insurance and my car ended up being towed...no help at all and said if I'm that stuck get insurance else where when I am single person struggling to live as it is..don't recommend anyone to this lot ever..

Today this happened my father was due his insurance renewal on the 11th and not only they took the payment 9 days early my father paid £500 will he get a refund who knows! I am absolutely gobsmacked with this! My father is really upset about this service they provide and I think it's all a scam! If anyone out there is thinking of being with 1st central please reconsider as this might cause problems for you too! I would defiantly not recommend this service to anyone else if this is how they treat their customers! If you are still with 1st central I wouldn't wait for an issue to occur, if I was you i'd cancel you'r insurance with them and look for a better and safer secure insurance company! Only thinking about the loyal customers out there as I believe you are not being treated like loyal customers. Thanks for listening to what I have to say, now it is down to you on what you decide is best on your past experience.

Took out a policy last year with 1st so called central thought they were pretty reasonable so I thought I'd renew with them as soon as I renewed they just made life hell on earth basically they made me run around getting my no claims certificates and license info etc etc only to tell me that there cancelling my policy because the no claims certificates can't be used on two cars no info that you couldn't do that on there website or nothing but the thing that annoyed me the most was when I said I had access to another vehicle and they still didn't say anything about it basically if you have more than one vehicle that you drive don't insure with these lot cause they'll just make you run around like headless chicken and still cancel your policy anyway

terrible customer service, took me an hour this morning to speak to anyone in customer services and all i wished to do was cancel my policy because engine had blown and the charge for cancelling was £50????? no wonder people hate insurance companies so much, lousy customer services, takes forever sitting on phone waiting to speak to someone and they will charge you top wack for everything? wont be using 1st central ever again!

Do not use this company. They keep pestering me for £135 cancelation fee for a policy i did not agree to take out with them. They also stole £29 pound from my bank account and would of carried on doing so if my bank did not inform me of the "unauthroised transactions".

I am now in my third and very last year of using this insurance company. I first insured my car in 2013 because the price seemed resonable. The second year, it was reduced become of no claims, points etc. However on the 3rd year it went up by £650 for the year. I called to complain and see what the reason was. I was offered no valid explanation and due to my busy schedule I left it at that. Finally. I am involved in a non fault accident. The third person accepted liability and passed on their details. All insurance details of the third party were passed to 1st central and they done very little to trace the insurance company and instead told me I would have to claim my own insurance and pay a £1000 excess. At this point I decided I would never use this company again.

Absolutely everything claim still ongoing since November last year not sorted no contact unless I call them even then told will call you back only to be ignored no response to emails a total joke
