Experienced the worst customer service ever with RAC. They tell you lies over the phone to get you iff the line quickly. Waited 6-7 hours to be rescued, mine and ny daughters safety at risk.

26hrs later poor response will be looking at a different provider for breakdown cover one that is reliable and quick response

Absolute Tossers!! Messed around for 4 hours today waiting for a patrol. Eventually sent me a message telling me to take my car to a local garage. Go with AA or Green Flag. Avoidthese WxxxxxS at all cost!! About as useful as a Chocolate Fireguard!!

My experience has been so bad I want to give them zero stars but that’s not possible so I give them one. First of all I had to wait three hours on the Dual Carriageway, and although the man who arrived was calm and helpful (I have no qualms with him) the wait was far longer than the time I was given, especially as I was an emergency. Now I need to get in contact with the RAC insurance but can’t get a hold of anyone, I’m on my fifth try at the moment of writing this. Talking to the insurance is of the upmost importance as a rental car is pivotal for me as I drive to work. What good is having your insurance with RAC if there is never anyone to speak to.

Not happy at all. Have been let down (and now harassed) by this joke of a company for the last time and I highly recommended you don't make the mistake of giving them an opportunity to let you down a first time. From pushy, rude telesales staff, to incompetent call out "mechanics" who will misdiagnose your car and cause more problems than you already had, to ridiculous wait times when you actually need help. They may have once been worthwhile, but that was ever such a long time ago, and the have ceased to be relevant or wanted. Useless and expensive.

Broke down in a dark unlit country lane at 6pm. Single woman on my own. Waited 4 hours getting text message after text message saying we will update you in 30 mins. Managed to get the car to a safe place and get a friend to take me home 20 miles away. The next text message says it's now been upgraded to a priority and someone will call soon. After another hour still nothing. Ended up cancelling the call out. RAC is rubbish and I will never use them again.

In 2020 I told them not to auto renewal anymore as the price rocketed and and felt i was forced to pay that year. 2021, they did it again. Made a complaint, they apparently couldn't access the recorded call and refused to accept liability. 2022 guess what... They did it again!! I've moved houses and had no emails nothing. Such scammers and liars. Funny how recorded calls is convenient not accessible by them when they're at fault.

Awful service, they told me to just upgrade my policy and then they'll help, no problems at all but then a third person told me it didn't count and they charged me an extortionate amount to come and look at my car, which I had to pay because I had alreday lost a day's work sorting things out and couldn't risk missing another day at work. Intentional or not, I was lied to and I felt extorted to pay the £161 extra. My complaint was ignored and nobody ever got back to me. Avoid RAC!

Not at all happy , I Was passenger in my brother's car this morning on the way to work and unfortunately hit a small dear however managed to get to work and parked up I phoned Nation wide bank as I have break down cover through my account and got transferd to AA break down and recovery and explained to the call handler excataly what happened and was told not to stress and they would tow it back to a local garage for repairs Ten minute's later got a phone call from a AA patrol man and he informed me he was on route I thought great top marks to the AA , The break down guy arrived said it wouldn't be a problem and policy with the bank would cover it and no reason it couldn't be towed back however he just had let central command know before he could start...I got a phone call within 5 minute's from AA Central informing me it would cost me £300 as it couldn't be towed back and needed a recovery truck as it was classed as a road traffic accident!!! I immediately told him that i wasn't going to pay £ 300 for a five mile recovery as I found a local breakdown company willing to come out within the hour and do the same Job for £ 60 I asked the AA break down guy who was standing beside at the time the reason for this despite him telling me 15 minute's before I wasn't a problem to tow back ...He shrugged his shoulders and started making excuses... Is this the AA strategy to come out promising that the policy would cover you then start putting extra rip off cost's to vulnerable motorists stranded on the side of the road.!!

Called RAC, paid an additional £85 as I wasn’t in my car for assistance. Received a text saying wait time was 240 mins, then it was 90 mins, then a further two text messages saying an update will be provided in 30 mins. Called RAC for an update was told ETA was 90 mins. Eventually managed to speak to someone who couldn’t provide an ETA, just said the wait time is over 4hrs. I was on my own, it was after midnight. In the end cancelled the breakdown and called a friend to help. Not impressed and won’t extend cover. Next issue is getting my £85 back.

Waited seven and a half hours for car to be recovered on monday from 8.25 until 4pm. Avoid this mickey mouse company. I got a text saying they were sending out one of their trusted partners to me at 9.20am and when he finally arrived at 4pm the driver told me he only got the call at 3.30pm. I have now changed to AA.

First time we we waited six hours July 2022 and gave up . Second time Friday 30 September 2022 told will be with you in 180 minutes . Three hours later, we are very busy today will text update in 30mins again we gave up again . This service is a total waste of time. Spud Davison.

We had a tyre problem on the A629 between Keighley and Skipton on Friday 30th September. Ali from the RAC came to our rescue and found a large piece of metal embedded in our run flat tyre. The weather was awful, windy and lashing down with rain. Ali did a temporary repair and sourced a second hand tyre for us, led us to the tyre fitters and they changed our tyre. Please thank ALI again for a fantastic job.

Terrible service, broke down on 01/10/2022, quotes 4 hours , in end as 4 hours were up - friends son towed us home, just got messages from RAC - every 30 mins - saying we r extremely busy - sorry 4 delay xx

Last night we broke down on the A34 at around 7pm, we were in an unsafe location on a grass verge it was raining hard and very cold. We had our 7 year old daughter with us. RAC didn’t turn up until half past midnight, we rang several times shouting they explained we were priority. Called us at midnight to be told they can’t get us because it’s too unsafe and we must call highway officer, they have known about our location since 7pm and no idea why they didn’t tell us to do this before. To leave a 7 year old in the cold dark rain on a dangerous road there for 5 hours is absolutely appalling. We will be taking this further with head office. The people on at the call centre of the RAC are not very sympathetic at all and when calling them on a loud A road and listening to music and adverts is not good. It took at least 15 minutes each time for someone to answer.
