ABSOLUTE SHOCKING COMPANY TO DEAL WITH! I HAVE A SO CALLED PREMIUM TOP FULL RECOVERY WITH THIS CLOWNS! MONEY GRABBERS AND NO SERVICE WHEN YOU NEED THEM. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. RAC RECOVERY SHOULD BE PUT OFF TRADING. BREAKDOWN WITH COMPANY VEHICLE, RANG THEM AND THEY TEXT BACK A 270 HOURS WAITING. THAT`S 4.5H. WAITED UNTIL 10PM (4.5H) AND NOBODY ARRIVED. MICKEY MOUSE COMPANY!! ILL TAKE MY MONEY ELSEWHERE. RAC RECOVERY YOU CAN DO 1

Totally useless and arrogant company. They will take your money happily, but will not provide a service when you are most in need. There customer service is a complete waste of time. DO NOT USE THIS WASTE OF SPACE SERVICE.

Called Rac dated 28/9/2022 on wednesday at 5pm waited until 9.14pm had a call from Rac center. They are not coming have to be next day

I had an accident on my motorcycle and phoned. Told I was a priority case, and someone would be out soon. Taken to hospital. Phoned all night in hospital saying they were still coming. The highways agency took the vehicle away in the end. RAC took no responsibility for not picking it up, and loss of the vehicle, it took 6 days to locate. I have been a member for years and expect better. No customer service whatsoever.

Terrible. Left me for 4.5 hours! When the mechanic finally showed up he equipment he needed to check the fault was actually broken and he told me to go to a Halfords store to get it sorted! Unbelievable! Plus when you try to complain they just say there was no issue and brush it under the carpet. They have no concept of customer service or care.

My 21 year old daughter had to wait over 6 hours to get a van out to her. They asked if she was on her own and she said yes. For one of the oldest and most well known breakdown services this service is breathtakingly terrible and will be writing a very strongly worded letter to RAC head quarters demanding a full refund if all monies paid for said bad service.

We logged a call at 12.05 lunch time stated we had a gearbox problem & broke down on the A66 & it was 12.35 am when we arrived home after a 12 and a half hour recovery!! Shocking service, waited over 4 hours after been told it could be up to 3hours then rang back, chose the automated situation now urgent as we now needed the loo & a drink also food. It took exactly 25 mins to answer the “urgent” phone. Was told they will log the call! It was another hour or so before someone was coming out to us 40 mins away, only to be told he knew very little about automatic gear boxes. He followed us to nearest services & we limped along until we broke down altogether. A call was logged @ 6.05 pm for recovery truck & we were told as we were on the hard shoulder of a very busy A1M it was classed as dangerous & priority & someone will be with us Within 45 minutes. Finally @ 8.10pm (a private partner) arrived as RAC hadn’t a recovery truck to send?? however this drivers hydraulics failed & could not recover our vehicle. He was marvellous, rang & organised another recovery truck & took myself & husband to Weatherby services to eat & use the loo’s while they collected our vehicle then came to pick us up. They could only take us upto a 60 mile radius & arranged with RAC to meet us at Blythe services. Also gave ETA. RAC was NOT there to meet us surprise surprise! We were dropped off with our vehicle unloaded! Stood in the car park of Blythe services for yet another hour or so until we finally got picked up for our final journey back to Mansfield by a very unfriendly RAC man!!!!

Girlfriend had an accident, pretty scary in of itself. This was 5 hours ago. RAC absolutely no help whatsoever despite us both being members. Don't bother, when you need them they're nowhere to be seen. Might as well spend your money on milkybars instead.

I broke down and the RAC towed me to a garage who couldn’t carry out the work. After three weeks with no news the RAC towed me to another garage and charged me £150 for the second tow.

Friday 9/9/22 at 15.53 we reported breakdown to RAC with our precise location at side of A78 coming out of Ardrossan a very busy high speed road and that our destination was home to York. 17.30-18.00 roadside repair by RAC unsuccessful. Full vehicle and persons rescue requested back to York by attending RAC patrol guy. Informed that our phone batteries were low. Text received to say with us within 180 minutes and we would be kept updated. No information by 20.00. Called RAC stressing that we felt very vulnerable and unsafe. Again told our phone batteries were low. Need help asap. Text received that ‘trusted party’ to be arranged and details to be sent. 21.00 still no confirmation of who and when. Called RAC again stressing our unsafe situation and need for overnight accommodation. Text to say sorry we were still waiting! 21.30 still no contact from RAC. 22.30-45 recovery vehicle arrived ( no information from RAC) Driver confirmed he had been contacted by RAC but given wrong location for us. No information on where he was to take us so tried 3 hotels before finally finding a room. Now 00.30-45 10/9/22. Plugged phone in at hotel no missed calls or texts from RAC re plan for our rescue and to get us home. 07.00 called RAC again to confirm plan. RAC call handler seemed not to understand that the journey back to York would be lengthy and suggested picking us up at 2pm! Told them to pick us up by 11am at latest, which did happen and in fact early! One star is for the total lack of proper communication, total incompetence and failure to understand the situation we were in. However 5 stars for the three RAC patrol guys Simon,John and Andy who got us home from Irvine to York in relays. We have been with the RAC for over 30 years and this is the first time we have really needed them. RAC you failed and have lost our custom. Would not recommend anyone to use RAC. We have put in a complaint using RAC’s procedure including asking for payment of hotel bill. Let’s see if they can sort it out.

Breakdown on 20th August RAC Left my daughter and my 2 grandchildren and son-in-law on the M25. Told it would take 270 minutes that's four and a half hours, to get to her even though they knew she was on a 4 lane high-speed part of the M25 on a grass bank with a one year old and a 4 year old. She called them at 15.40hrs. After a number of calls, one not even recorded, they eventually arrived at 17.30hrs. Shortly before this I travelled an hour from my home address to rescue my grandchildren. When they finally turned up the recovery vehicle and just two passenger seats. For 2 adults and two children. At that point they had no idea I had rescued my grandchildren. They were incompetent beyond belief they lied. I have heard nothing no acknowledgement no nothing just a case number. RAC you make me sick. You really don't care, you should be ashamed . I detailed my complaint which I think is very serious yet you have ignored me so far. Don't tell me "we will reply within 20 days" it's been 18 working days and I have heard nothing you should have replied much earlier. I even tried escalating it but still heard nothing. How dare you put my family at risk and then not even keep record a very important call from my distressed daughter. Operators were Working from home I was told by one. Walking their dog and ordering a takeaway from the comfort of their home and not giving a toss about people who depend on them.

We have been with the RAC for 15 years and pay £120 per year. We have only called them out once! On Sunday we broke down in our camper van at 10.30am in North Devon . We phoned the RAC at 11am to explain what had happened and that there had been aloud knocking noise from the engine and loss of power. They said it would be 3 hours but would text us every 30 mins with an update. Which they did. Nearly every message said they were exceptionally busy and would get some one out asap. ,We phoned again to say we need a tow truck because of the size of vehicle, we were on a country lane plus it was a problem with the engine. They said someone would be in touch. We finally get a call from someone who asks me to start up the engine and rev it. He said it sounded ok . I had explained before it made the noise while driving and loss of power. I just hope I haven't done any further damage to the engine by revving it!! We explained again we need a tow truck. He said they would still send a patrol out first. We then phoned again to be then told it was now 6pm before a patrol arrives! We were really worried we would be there until midnight!! Waiting to be towed. We phoned a local recovery firm who were with us in just over 30 mins and took us all home which was 45 miles. Thank you RAC we have now cancelled our policy with you and will be going with another company!

Reported breakdown online 7am this morning & It's now 1.30 pm & have been told that they will now be sending one of their trusted partners to attend to my breakdown(but still no arrival time)I am so unhappy with the service i have been given considering i have been with them for over 4 years, but my membership expires in Dec so will be looking at alternative companies to quote for my custom & i will definitely be looking at sites like this to give me the truth of how bad or good they really are.THANKS FOR NOTHING RAC.
