Paid $24 for 2-business-day shipping on an $870+ Parry Ski Suit, placed my order Sunday night, and it didn't arrive until Wednesday late afternoon. Backcountry considers that within their 2-day window — make of that what you will. The suit didn't fit, so I requested a return right away. They charged me $9 for the return label (most retailers cover this, especially on a purchase this size), and my refund of $835 didn't come through until three weeks later. When I contacted customer service, their "gearhead" rep just repeated policy at me and offered zero acknowledgment of the shipping issue, let alone any resolution. No accountability, no goodwill gesture, nothing. For a nearly $900 purchase, that's not acceptable. I won't be shopping here again.

I Live in Utah and wanted to support a local business but this place has issues. I placed an order on the website....a clear picture of the shoe and color I wanted. My order arrived the next day and it was the wrong color. No big deal. I called and spoke to a "gearhead" for a return and was assured my shoe was in stock. Placed another order. The wrong color showed up the next day. Again. I called again and got another representative who put in a ticket with the warehouse. I got an email assuring me the shoe was in stock and the system glitch was fixed. I called this same representative and placed another order....wrong shoe showed up at my doorstep today. A third time. Ridiculous. Do better.

I ordered size 10 Baffin Canada boots and received size 11 boots in a size 10 box. They were boots that someone probably returned as they appeared worn because there was mud in the treads. I contacted customer service and they said they don’t have a size 10 in stock and to mail them back and I will get a refund in 2 or 3 weeks. Winter will be over by then. Terrible Company. I will never buy from this company again!

Sold as new product. Arrived with stains and dog hair in an amateur packed plastic bag. Customer serviced offered $20 discount by chat. Cannot trust even if listed as new.

They did not send us what was ordered. When we returned the incorrect item, they refused to give us a refund. Screw these guys. Awful service. We were able to complete a dispute with our credit card company. Highly recommend going that route if you have an issue with these thieves.

I have always been very pleased with Backcountry until I had to return an item. I have encouraged several of my family members to order from here as well. NEVER AGAIN! I ordered an item after Christmas, it arrived just fine, but the item was too large. I followed the return directions on their page and sent the package back using my own choice of delivery service. I went with USPS. For whatever reason, I kept my USPS receipt with the tracking information. My receipt shows that it was delivered to the front desk, reception area or mail room at 9:24 a.m. on January 12, 2026 in Christiansburg, VA. I did an online chat (many times) offered on their webpage and was told that they could see that the package had arrived at above location but that they were very busy with holiday returns and to keep checking my bank account to make sure refund was there. After about 3 weeks of waiting, I contacted them AGAIN and I am now told that the item never reached the warehouse to process a return. It sounds to me like someone at the reception desk helped themselves to my $100 item. They did tell me that they will grant me a one time exception and give me store credit, but I am so frustrated based on the fact that I was told that they could see the item had reached the location that was listed on the return address. BEWARE IF YOU NEED TO RETURN AN ITEM - YOU MAY NEVER GET YOUR REFUND!

You can order online but I wouldn’t do it unless you are absolutely sure about the size and everything because if you have to return something they will make you rebuy what you want then have you UPS back your return then even though they get the return the next day they will make you wait 2-3 weeks for your money back. It’s ridiculous and there are too many other options.

Ordered a Mammut jacket from them but unfortunately they sent me last years model versus this years which they advertised. The customer service rep was fantastic but unfortunately his supervisor wasn't so much. After some dialogue and an offer of a possible reduction in cost and further investigation w/why they sent me last years jacket, I received a return label. Nothing else said about a cost reduction, etc. I will no longer order from them as I am dissatisfied with/their attitude and lack of any further communication. Stop advertising something you do not have and baiting to then receive old stock. Poor business practices will not help you w/your bottom line as people read reviews, especially the bad ones.

Backcountry will ship your items via Ontrtac delivery service. Well known or stealing and losing packages. Well mine was sent back to vendor withiut my knowledge. Same issue with 2 other deliveries in same month. DO NOT ORDER FROM BACK COUNTRY UNTIL THEY CHANGE THIER SHIPPER

Horrible Customer Service: Beware if you are shopping from outside the contiguous United States. I ordered a bike pad for my truck, which was on sale ($45), and paid $30 in shipping to Alaska. Steep and Cheap/Backcountry sent me the wrong pad. They offered to make it right if I shipped it back to them at my cost and paid an additional $30 to have the correct pad shipped to me. The customer service was not friendly and told me I was financially responsible for dealing with their mistake. I guess when you live in the state of true backcountry, Alaska, you, as a customer, are not valued or treated with courtesy, as you are outside their target customer base. In this age, when it's okay not to take ownership of one's mistakes and actions, Backcountry follows this as a corporate philosophy.

There customer service horrible!! Now because of their fault my grandson won't be getting his shi pants nor can he use his gift card for something else cause it takes them five days to put back on card! It started out bad wit an invalid gift card to find out it was valid go thru the ordering process with one of there people tells me all good to find out order canceled because not in stock then this with having to wait for monies to be put back on card! Bad bussiness!! I should be compensated for their mistake!! Its xmas and you messed it up!!

Ordered for Christmas! Two and a half weeks before Christmas.....three days before Christmas they said they were unable to fulfill the order! I will never order from backcountry again.

I don't do feedback very often, however for the service, advise and help from Patrick Gibbs, more than happy to do so. He helps me with all my order, very responsive both email and phone call, provided his honest feedback. In addition, he keeps mentioning to me to be very picky in my orders and if it doesn't feel right just let me know - feel free to call or email. Like his attitude means a lot a customer. He even said he will provide me status update of your order... MANY THANKS to Patrick Gibbs

Their customer service was awful. They use gladly so it's a chat conversation where you are not getting feedback in real time at all. They offer discounts but some items are ineligible but they only way you can find out if they are is to go through the hassle of checking on each item by putting it in your cart.

I would like a refund on my Summit+ membership. I got the membership to get a discount on the Flylow Bib, but my size and color was not in stock, so I don't need the membership.
