“I have used them on and off for almost 2 years. They are good for certain things. Here we go
The Positives:
For small, cheap, sturdy things they've done a good job. The interface is easy and I've never had any issues finding what I wanted across several Japanese market platforms. They have access to "Yahoo Market, Yahoo Auctions, Rakuten and more.
The Neutral:
One thing they don't ever explain well is that they bundle the shipping cost of the initial seller sending the item to them with the shipping quote to send to you. This means the shipping cost you see them bill you always looks high. It makes sense vs what you initially paid to win the auction/etc. but would be better if they told you up front. If it was explained in one of their faqs, I've been blind and never seen it for all of my use.
The Negative:
Packaging is inconsistent and often horrible. Don't ever order anything fragile or for collectors' reasons. Only 1 in every 4 boxes I've gotten has been packaged properly. (I mostly order dumb anime toys so a dented box didn't bother me much so long as the damage didn't go too far in)
Customer service is also a gamble. I've had good interactions and very kurt and rough dealings with them.”
“Thanks Buyee for considering seller's boxes removal in order to reduce weight and size. Unfortunately warehouse staff and support staff are in 2 different teams. Sometimes when warehouse informed consolidation completed, actually the removal is not completed yet but buyer complete the payment already (confused). Sometimes it produces extension penalty cost because of long storage as negotiation, responses & Q/A takes time.”
“Consolidated Shipping Can Get Brutal
For starters, the negatives. The shipping fee can get ridiculous. Don't buy big heavy items here, or even items that are just big (never underestimate extra weight from seller packing). I bought a wool briefcase, and it came out at 1KG which was an instant 2100 yen in shipping. I thought..."hey let's add a cheap t shirt to test their consolidated shipping charges ". 220g...another 1400 yen to ship separately from the bag (it's EMS rate). Now, I naively thought that by paying an extra 500 yen for the consolidation fee that I'd probably just pay an extra 600 yen since how much extra packing weight could they manage to put on 1080g + 220g, right?
WRONG. Some quick math to see how they just erased any savings and made me pay more.
Ship separately:
2100 yen (1080g) + 1400 yen (220g) = 3500 yen
Consolidated rate:
3300 yen (1760g) + 500 yen (consolidation fee) = 3800 yen”

This is at least triple or quadruple from the original cost of the product. Some addtional charges are too expensive for tiny products especially the protective.
The basic additional charges should be affordable if it is decreased to not more than 300yen with the same service.
Buyee (auction) is worth and recommendable using it for commercial products but perhaps not for personal purpose.

The reason why I use Buyee is because I cannot access to Yahoo sites without living in Japan. Still I am unhappy that Buyee refused to provide me the contact of the seller despite I won the auction and I have the right to know.
Except all of that stated above, the rest are good therefore it is a 3 star experience for me.”

“Most transactions have been easy and satisfactory. Goods arrived with no problem. However, recent purchase arrived with one item missing and one item broken. Customer service is asking for photo documentation worthy of a crime scene - and if other complaints on this thread are true, it remains to be seen if they will do me any good.”
“Using the website is pretty easy to do. Buying from Mercari, they have on lock. The service's response is a little slower than I'd like when winning something cheap quickly is of concern. I have missed out on items because of the 1-2 day response time. They could cut back on some of the excess fees though. Package consolidation is one that is very overpriced for the lack of service provided. When you're paying $5-$15 to consolidate packages, it would be nice to have them actually properly repack instead of just throwing the existing boxes into a bigger box. Other than the unnecessary fees for throwing boxes into another box, and making shipping cost too much because of that, the service is fine.”
“Buyee auction is okay, but there are things that could be better:
- International shipments via EMS are terribly expensive, please add other couriers for customers oversea.
- it would be nice if you bought multiple items from a seller to package them together.
- the online assistant can only answer via standard questions
Adding discounts to so many auction items is a plus.”
“Wish I could give 5 stars instead of 3 but I am keeping myself positive and optimistic as the 1st item, a Barbie Doll, I bought for my daughter on 17 July 2020 through Buyee has not arrived still. I just bought another item last week and keeping my finger crossed. I chose EMS Japan post as it wad cheapest and recommended. Last tracking update stop at Hino Japan on 21 July. So...hoping and praying”
“Customers service take sometimes i.e 2-3 days to response but they will follow up the issue till end. Additional fees i.e. consolidation fees, storage fees, photo taking fees will be charged separately.”
“They helped to purchase rare dolls from Japan. But customer service reply is too slow as they take few days to reply. The service fee discount should be for all purchase amount and not only purchases above 3000yen. They should not charge additional 1000yen for consolidation as the international shipping fee is very expensive already.”
