“I bought the globe sofa in May in charcoal, by August it had gone really bobbly. DFS sent someone out and said nothing was wrong and it was just wear and tear. I complained again, they sent another person out who left me a bobble off machine, after 2 months he expects me to waste my time doing this every few months, absolutely disgraceful. They wont do anything else for me after only having the sofa for 6 months. Their customer service department is awful and complaints procedure non existent. I will never buy a sofa from DFS again, under no circumstance by the GLOBE SOFA IN CHARCOAL, it looks about 5 years old after 2 months. Why use such a unpractical material that goes bobbly on something that is used in a home more than most things. Extremely frustrated and let down by DFS. 1 star is being kind.”
“I’m fuming.🤬bought a new three seater and 2 seater from DFS before Christmas (delivered 11/12). They’re recliners and nothing lines up. The seams on the front of the seats are off by an inch and the backs sit one forward one back. The tops of the backs are uneven too. The 3 seater also arrived with 2 dirty marks and the delivery guy wrote a report on the delivery form saying someone would come out and look at it. Because there was such a big gap between the seats the delivery guy checked he’d put the sofas together properly and when I pointed out that they didn’t line up he said we should report that too when someone came out. After hearing nothing we contacted DFS after new year and we’re told nothing had been reported, but they’d get the rugby manager to come out. An upholsterer came out. He said he couldn’t line the suite up how we would like and if we got another one it would be the same. He said it was usual with recliners and I told him this was our 6th Set of recliners and we’d never had anything this bad before. We then got a call from the Coventry manager Who also told us that these sofas wouldn’t line up because of the type of recliners they were, then a visit from the Rugby manager who told us the discrepancies were normal for recliners and within the normal parameters. He took photos and went back to discuss with the area manager. Just had a call to say they’re doing nothing about it and the unevenness Is acceptable. I said if I had been told at time of ordering to expect uneven furniture I wouldn’t have ordered it and as we paid cash I can’t even stop payments. I’m not happy at all and will be speaking to the office of fair trading in hope that they can get something done. I’d advise people not to buy from them if this is the service they offer.😡”
“Bought top of the range italian calf leather sofas cost 4k, within 2 years the seats had sagged , DFS said they couldent get a replacement and sent somone out to put new foam in , 6 month later worse than ever . the leathers paper thin and started to produce small tears Poor quality product which ahs just left me felt ripped off . forget their guarantees and sales pitches once they have your money they really dont give a stuff. Beware!”
“Disappointed, DFS is basically an army of salesmen/women trying to sell you pretty much anything but then once you receive your furniture, the customer helpline is pretty much nonexistent.
We bought a sofa in their shop back in March 2019,and upon reception on may 2019, the delivery man told us a part from the sofa was missing. 7 months later and after we came back physically to the shop twice and send emails complaints, the missing part was never sent...and or our emails were ignored.
On another note, we asked DFS the Guardsmen protection on our sofa, but looking at how one of the cushion looks today while just doing normal use, we wonder if that has ever been applied.
We now have to buy another sofa for the house (sofa bed this time), and we will definitely not consider a DFS sofa.
Thanks”
“Basildon dfs!
Very bad customer service, we bought 4 dining chairs, should be delivered 5of December, or around.
We didn't get 5of December, so I wait for a week more, no delivery, no call, and tracker still showing 5of December, so I call ask where is my chairs, they said they dont know, but they spoke with supplier, and supplier will contact me for delivery. I wait for one more week, no delivery, no call, no emails, nothing. So I call again, they said they dont know what is going on, they will contact supplier and they will let me know, so I wait one more week, dfs didn't contact me. So I went in the shop to ask what is going with my order. So one guy check for me and told me company where is my chairs is closed till 2nd of January, his will set call back when they will open. So we wait again...
2nd of january that guy call me to let me know company is closed till 6 of january.... and they promise delivery for free.
Finally they left me a voice message, and they said may order will be in the shop 9 of January, and I need come and pick it up. I was so angry I call them back, explain all situation, and that they promise delivery for free, women on the phone said she didn't know, she said she will fix it.
So 9 of december I got a voice message again, and they said your order is in the shop, you can come and collect. I was so upset with this company, I didn't bother call them back, we just went in the shop to pick our chairs.
Plus we order on November because they promise delivery before Christmas, and I got all my family for Chtistmas dinner. So you can guess where we was sitting...
Very very big disappointment....”
“Sales staff in Basildon lied to us and after sales service is non existent. Bought one of most expensive sofas and manager just fobbed me off. Pot luck if you get good service but no way of getting any after sales support they just don't care.”
“The sofa is so uncomfortable, got told it’s because it’s not directly in front of my tv, will never buy from them again because if we’d of known out sofas were made in China not the uk, they are really poorly made, save your money and buy a camping chair”
“Manager must have been blind when he came to our sofa the 2 seats we sit on are sagging and the arm rest sagging He cleverly plumped seats so they looked ok then took his photos what a cheat Sofa only 7 months old absolute disgrace”
“Why am I shocked at the amount of bad reviews DFS IE is given on various sites? Why have they been allowed to get away with treating customers so badly for so long?
Today was my turn to be on the receiving end of the distain that DFS shows towards its customers. I am disabled a fact that DFS were made aware of yet today I am deeply distressed to be informed by DFS that I am expected to daily remove all cushion covers and reposition the filling material inside. This is something that I cannot physically do nor should anyone be expected to do on two month old sofas. This is the first time that any retailer has made me feel worthless and disregarded knowing that because of my disabilities I would be unable to carry out the daily instructions I was told to do. I specifically chose fixed back cushions as I need support but instead I’ve suffered increased pain sitting on sofas that are poorly made and that are not at all supporting. The sofas are not as described and are not fit for purpose. I want a full refund which is not unreasonable.
DFS will be held accountable for their unacceptable treatment towards me as I refuse to be discriminated against by anyone. They have left me feeling humiliated, worthless and deeply upset.”
“the sofa and chairs i brought in dfs are 1year old and only fit for the tip. £26oo. down the drain. something was done to on chair but even that made no difference.dfs could not care less.never again DFS”
“an update on an earlier review- despite being assured by 3 different people on 3 different occasions that the part required to repair my sofa (which hasn't been right since it was delivered)would be instore the end of November we have heard nothing. Not even a courtesy call to explain why.Customer service an absolute disgrace.E mails to head office make no difference.think twice before giving them your custom”
“GREAT AFTERCARE - I have had numerous sofas from DFS over the years and I have always found them good quality, albeit the aftercare can and has let them down. I must say though the aftercare has worked excellently on my recent purchase
I purchased a circular chair online, as it perfectly matched the sofa I had bought from them 2 years ago and as I needed an additional chair and my original sofa has been discontinued, I was thrilled to realise I could order a chair which matched. I quickly ordered this chair online, for delivery for Christmas, as I had found a match for my older sofa. I must say though I was a tad hasty in ordering the chair and hadn't realised it was a swivel chair :(
The chair arrived and it matched my old sofa to a tee, but with it being a "swivel" chair I found that when getting yourself out of the chair, which is a large circular shape it tipped forward because the chair only has the swivel mechanism underneath and no legs, understandably so the chair swivels. I called the aftercare department who sent a service man round to view this issue, I told him he could take the chair back as I couldn't have a chair which tipped every time you get out of it, but would have feet placed on the sofa.......miraculously he had a set of matching feet, to match my original sofa and took the swivel mechanism off and replaced with feet, which to be honest is what I thought I had ordered in the first place, I didn't want a swivel chair. Now the chair is sturdy, usable and isn't a safety hazard.
Very long winded I know, but they have solved my problem, free of charge as I have only had the chair a few days and now I have a chair which doesn't tip over - CAUTION BE CAREFUL THOUGH IF ORDERING A SWIVEL CHAIR, THEY MAY BE CLASSED AS SAFE BUT DO NOT FEEL IT AT ALL”
“1 star is being generous.
Purchased leather suit at approx £4000, within a short time colour began to rub of a chair & splitting down both arms.
Chair is now fit for tip.
DFS will repair chair for £320 & that is a good will gesture as the suite is over 6 months old ( at this point approx 24 months).
Please avoid.”
“Just bought a three seater and two seater Aniesha sofas in grey. Sofas seem ok so far apart from threads hanging off seam lines. We bought the Gaurdsman protection policy where they state that your sofas will be sprayed with a protection spray, so that liquids split on the material will just form a bubble droplet as shown on the example card in store. When I did the water droplet test at home on my new sofas, the water just soaked straight into the material so I didn’t believe that my sofas had been sprayed. I phoned the store straight away and they insisted that they had been sprayed but didn’t provide me with any proof and I was made to feel stupid for even asking. Why show customers the sample cards with two sides, one protected and the other untreated with Guardsman spray, when they don’t spray the sofas! Here’s a photo of the test I did against the test card they gave me. It’s miss leading saying they spray your sofa for £193 then get the insurance policy thrown in for free. Just hope the policy works if we get any problems!”
“Ordered 2 seater and 3 seater recliner in leather in July. Was delivered September. Immediately delivery men had left I noticed the cushion on one side of the 3 seater was higher than the other when assembled. Also legs were missing for 2 seater. Rang the store the same day, another delivery team arrived next day with missing legs and adjusted 3 seater. Didn't look any better and I said so to be told "thats the best you will get!"before we had a chance to take complaint further the recliner mechanism on one side malfunctioned. Another visit from an"expert"confirmed mechanism was twisted and would have to order part which could take 12 weeks to arrive!the sofas only took 9 weeks to make!but we were assured someone would ring regularly to keep us updated. This was on September 25th. Not a word from them so on November 1st my husband rang, they gave alsorts of ridiculous excuses why they hadn't rang.An email was sent off to head office andwe recieved a call the next day after I explained I was unhappy about the time it was taking to get a part, and in the meantime we can't use recliner. The person from head office said the part wasn't arriving in store until the end of November!but would chase it up and try to get it earlier but in the meantime would keep us updated every few days as to the progress. At the time of writing this review we have not heard ONE WORD from head office. Complaints are falling on deaf ears. All we can do now is just wait for the part to arrive but I will never buy from dfs ever again. Couldn't fault the service in store (metro centre gateshead)but once they have your money they're not interested. After sales customer service is a disgrace”
“Don’t buy from DFS!!!!!!
-Mis sold a sofa with the stain protection, was told liquid would sit on top of the surface like a puddle for you then to clean, it won’t soak in. Spilt water and it absorbed it straight away. Apparently I’ve misunderstood the product, made to feel like an idiot. I was then told by the Barnstaple manager that it could be due to me having dyslexic as it took a while to sell the sofa to me and I’ve mis understood the product! Funnily enough when I’ve asked for all phone calls they aren’t recorded at local stores!
-Arrived with no packaging and was just on the dirty floor of the delivery truck cushions everywhere. Apparently that’s how second hand sofas arrive with no packing I was told by a lady at the call centre, this wasn’t second hand, they had no answer and just said well that shouldn’t of arrived like that we can’t do anything about that!
-Fabric already baggy after 2 weeks of use, to be told that will happen to our sofas and is normal, ( I just weigh 8 stone!)
-I’ve spent numerous hours chasing DFS after being told many times that I will be called back and promised a date needless to say this didn’t happen.
-Sofa also arrived damaged and ripped on the underside by the delivery men. I tried returning it within a week to be told they can’t do anything as I brought it in store!
Don’t buy from DFS if you want to be lied to, spoken to in an extremely rude manor by the local branch and to have to live with a faulty product!!!!”
