Their MO is quite simply to rip you off at every opportunity, aside from the fact that the car I hired had filthy windows ( & no windscreen cleaner) the pre hire £3/ doc charge for unnecessary additional etc (not on the website) the preloading of your card should you elect not to take out their insurance etc. etc. And then the (bogus) sting a few days after the return I.e windscreen chip

The car I was given had a warning oil light and message showing almost immediately which meant I had to take it to a garage to have it checked and confirmed that the oil was only at 29%. I am still waiting for a refund for the oil. The front screen wipers were broken and unusable as they scratched the window and smashed into the side of the car. The currency difference on fuel was almost £6 - a total scam. Returns procedure was a nightmare - one chap dealing with drop offs and couriering passenger to the airport so a long time delay with the possibility of missed flights.

Your staff applied £1,250 to my card, twice, well after my rental was finished. I was told by my bank that I was near my credit limit which is alarming as I never get that close. It was just as I was going on holiday overseas so needed the credit. I called and your very uninterested man who dealt with me told me these two amounts were an error and that he'd removed them. I asked him to delete my card details and he refused. Odd. One month later my bank tells me I'm near my credit limit again. Yes, he'd only removed ONE of the £1,250 amounts. I called again. The woman who dealt with my request to have the second false charge removed was extremely rude and patronising. There was NO apology. Nothing, and she ended up hanging up on me when I asked her to explain because the line was bad and I was struggling with her speaking so fast trying to get me off the line. At the same time two fraudulent transactions totalling £900 to a company called VanMildert.com were made. I can't help thinking your staff's free access to apply charges my credit card well after the hire is over suggests your staff are the potential source of this fraud as they are the only people who had demonstrable access to my card to apply additional charges that were not valid or warranted - followed by a similar amount of fraud when the individual amounts were released in stages at their whim. My credit card company is now formally investigating.

I really wish I had read some of these reviews first! We had a terrible experience with them and I will NEVER use them again even if they were the last car rental company on Earth...I'd rather walk!

DO NOT USE EASIRENT !!!!!! 1) at drop off they went straight for the front left wheel and found a « fresh » scratch on the tyre, that (of course) we didn’t do. Note they didn’t look at anything else, not even the other 3 tyres. Except we didn’t scratch it. But they did give it to us that way, which could have been extremely dangerous. Apparently many other people had the exact same problem with them, so clearly this is their golden technique to rip you off. (£175 for a new tyre on a tiny car???) 2) they don’t accept debit card to pay the excess at pick up, so you endded up having to pay an extra £70. In the end, cheap on paper, until you end up paying an extra £245 to this crew of dishonest men.

You never feel comfortable when hiring from easirent, even if you return the car in pristine condition and full of fuel, you wait weeks for your fuel deposit to be returned, and you have to checking your credit card for fraudulent use!

The bottom line is if you want a hassle free transparent rental company DO NOT CHOOSE EASIRENT. Their business model appears to be designed to obfuscate the customer and relies on a plethora of hidden and hard to understand charges (think Ryanair but worse). For a two day van rental I paid an extra £100 I wasn't expecting to pay and for things I've never had to pay for with any other rental company. I picked up in Crawley and dropped off in Glasgow and at BOTH locations the agents were defending the extra charges to irate and confused customers. In the Crawley branch the agents were even bartering with the customers, dropping x% off the charges for arbitrary reasons ("because you didn't know i'll take this down by 10%") which suggests the numbers are plucked out at random. In the glasgow branch an agent was explaining to a customer she was fleecing "I'm just doing my job" - not good enough. The agents need to take responsibility for the business model they're representing. While I'm sure what this company does is legal it's up there with pay day loan companies in terms of ethics. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! And no, not interested in speaking to your customer care team Easirent.

Easirent Birmingham Shocking customer service. Wanted to charge me £60 for an automatic as was the only car they had left due to me being an hour late to my booking. Said in terms and conditions if an hour late then car could be reallocated. Asked them for t&cs but no mention of this...still wanted to charge me

Terrible company. They are cheap for a reason don’t fall for it. If you don’t take their extra protection, they charge you hundreds for damage that was already there. Make sure you document and picture, video every dent and mark on the car. Cowboys

Do not Rent from This Place! You have been Warned! I would give 0 stars or less for this location if possible. There's a reason why this place only averages 2 stars and I hope you don't ignore the ratings like I did and waste two hours at this horrendous place manned by rude thugs who try to coerce you into taking their numerous onerous policies to try to make up the cheaper prices they offer compared to most car rental companies like Europcar or Hertz. The company goes through what I would describe as a three step process to try to make up for the difference in price compared to other companies. 1. When we arrived at the location, we were initially spoken to nicely by a man at the counter who asked us for the usual details. He asked us if we wanted to take insurance on the car, and we replied that we had already booked full excess insurance through the agent Rentalcars.com. He proceeded to keep telling us that third parties insurers only pay out 27% of the time and we should take the company's insurance . We politely declined. He tried to scrutinise the existing policy we had taken and seemed disgruntled that he could not find any fault with it. 2. He then proceeded to ask us whether we wanted to take their fuel policy. The fuel policy of the company, which was not reflected on my online booking through rentalcars.com, is extremely onerous and while they do not force you to take the policy, makes it hard for you not to do so. One of the many onerous conditions attached to their fuel policy was a. Car must be refuelled within 5 miles of the return location. b. Car must be refuelled within 1 hour of the return. ( WHAT?) c. The company would take a deposit ( does not accept mastercard, electron, debit card), and if you choose not to take their fuel policy, their may be additional bank charges and interest which will be borne by you. d. Charges may be taken without notifying you. e. All the conditions attached to their fuel policy must be adhered to otherwise you may potentially lose your deposit. 3. After declining their insurance and fuel policies, he then proceeded to tell us that the car that we had booked was no longer available as they usually hold the car for two hours. As it was according to him (23rd of July 2018), the first day of their so called summer season the company could only hold the rental for one hour. As our flight was delayed he said that the company offered three options. We were either to wait 1 and a half hours ( potentially more) for our car to be available, top up additional £30+ pounds for a an estate wagon, or were offered a small Ford Fiesta which we could not obviously take as we had numerous luggages ( why I booked the bigger car in the first place). When we tried to explain that the flight was delayed and we wanted the car that we had originally booked, he simply shrugged off the matter and said it wasn't his problem. We were tired from a long flight and just simply wanted to get our car and move on but this guy started getting really threatening in his demeanour and we decided that we could not rent from this company that day. I have spoken to staff at Avis and Enterprise ( where I went after), who said these fuel policies were ridiculous and that the 23rd of July wasn't some so-called first day of summer. Of course, what you pay for is what you get in terms of service. Don't expect to get a similar level of service you get from higher end car rental brands. For one, I personally knew I paid a cheaper price and I didn't expect the same level of service. But I don't think that you deserve to be plagued with so many hidden costs and onerous policies that simply try to make up for the difference. Save yourself the hassle of the thuggery, rudeness by their staff and frustration while on vacation. I took the time to write such a lengthy review so you don't make the same mistake I do. You have been warned.

I live in Spain and I came over to the UK on the 12th May 2018 for a visit, I originally planned to stay for 2 weeks, as I arrived late on the 12th, I arranged to pick up a hire car from Easirent Manchester Airport, on the 13th. The hire period was 13th to 26th May 2018. I did not take out their insurance as I had my own, however they held £1,250 on my credit card in case there was an issue with the car on returning it, I was happy for them to do this. During my visit, my son on the 18th May was rushed to hospital with a life threatening condition, called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. This was a traumatic time for the family. Because of this I had to extend my stay and prior to the hire period ending, I telephoned Easirent and extended the car hire to 31st May. My son was in hospital for nearly 3 weeks and I spent my time at the hospital with him as he needed constant help. Then when he came out his condition was such that he could not be left alone and I therefore had to extend my stay again. This meant that I needed to extend the hire period again, I contacted Easirent and was told that I would need to pay another £104 for an extra weeks hire. I explained the situation to the gentleman I spoke to, and I asked him if there was a cheaper way of doing this as it was costing me a fortune. He very kindly did me a deal whereby I returned the vehicle in my possession and picked up a new car for the period 31st May to 7th June and that this would cost £66. During the conversation I was asked about insurance and I told him I did not require insurance as I had my own insurance. He was happy with this and confirmed the details by email on the 30th May, he also took a deposit for the new car hire. On the 31st May I returned the original car and then I went to the reception at Manchester Airport's office to sort out the paperwork for the new vehicle. The gentleman I spoke to at the office, told me that he would have to block another £1,250 on my credit card for the new vehicle, I told him that was fine as there was funds available on my card. He then apparently went into the back room and spoke to the manager, he then informed me that his manager had stated that I could not have a car unless I took out their insurance. I was distraught, in tears and panicking as I needed to get back to the hospital. I therefore had no choice but to take the insurance out, otherwise I would have been stranded, with a seriously sick son in hospital. The costs then escalated to £273. I felt the staff bullied me while I was in a vulnerable position and that I was being held to ransom, this is not the way to do business. I had insurance, I should not have had to take out their insurance or be threatened by Easirent. I have put in a complaint, which has subsequently been closed by Easirent, without being informed of the outcome. I have left numerous messages for the manager at Manchester Airport to contact me and to date he has not spoken to me. Do not use this organisation!

Worst hire company I ever used - and shamefully I've used them more than once - yes I should have learnt the first time- low list prices- then everything to realise additional revenue. Is it company policy or is it Peterborough depot trying to improve returns - I really don't know but be sure to avoid Peterborough branch. One driver reqd- had to pay for 2 because booked by another. Kerching add £140 for 14 days -reduce the massive deposit by better insurance kerching add £154+ - light marks that should polish out - 3 panels - 2@£185 each 1@£95 and 3 * admin charges @£75 each 1 for each panel. Really !!!!! Admin charges not covered by the hard sell insurance and none of the damage covered by insurance. We use car hire companies all over the world and this is the worst depot I have experienced anywhere - I'm sure its all in the T&C but these are used like a weapon to increase revenue. Avoid this business at all cost - a 14 day rental headline price £310- add £140 un required additional driver - add insurance £154 and this was lowest cost offered at collection - add £465 questionable repairs - doubt the car will visit a paint shop or have a mobile repairer caress it - add £225 admin costs ( unbelievable) Low base price £310 - - high end cost £1294. Definitely don't let the staff know you need to be somewhere else - I needed to get to the airport and had to balance missing a series of planes with the ransom charge to get out of Easirent office. Avoid at all costs
