Absolute diabolical company. Not worth the names it’s given. They will take your loved ones money without a problem whilst they’re alive. But you may as well forget about trying to claim after your love one has died. Instead of paying a monthly direct debit to legal and general, you should set fire to your money each month as it’s as good as. Not only is it 6 months since we started a claim for the £10,000 insurance policy which my Nan took out to cover her funeral costs. Today they have decided that they will not be paying out. Over the last 6 months, I had to contact them to chase Over 200 times, I’ve spent hours gathering all the information they required, I've had to chase GP for evidence as legal and general are not in any hurry and will do everything the can to delay the process. Not an ounce of empathy or compassion for the loved one you have just lost. Please please please think twice before taking a policy out with this company. Once you’re gone your family will face months of upset and stress to be told that they’re not paying out. Our case will be on the hands of our solicitor first thing Monday morning. And legal and general please spare me the automated reply in relation to this review. I will not be emailing you, you may have gotten away with it a thousand times before, but this time you won’t be so lucky. I’m sure we will be speaking to you very soon.

These people should be investigated by the FCA..... Avoid at ALL COST... Please look at these reviews it speaks volumes. We renewed our insurance with these people early this year. In summery when we went to make a small claim (1st one ever) they told us we had No insurance at all and did not renew! We had to show evidence from our bank and it took days to sort it out and calculated over 3.5 hours in phone calls. In the interim period we could not make a claim. After numerous calls from our end and repeating ourselves to various departments eventually they reinstated our policy. THEN to top it all when we went to make a claim they refused to honor it. Now we are cancelling everything and starting again with someone else reputable. Please don't use these people they should be investigated by the FCA.

Legal and General Pension is LOSING MONEY !!! Legal and General income protection insurance isn't worth having if you fall ill , it doesn't pay out !!!

Two pet Insurance claims submitted a month ago, no word from legal & general at all so called the claims line today to be told they have a backlog and claims are taking between 6-8 weeks to even get looked at!!! Waiting in anticipation also as to how much of my 5k claim they will be paying, after reading the policy wordings and going around and around in circles only to suspect the policy isn’t worth the paper its written on! So many exclusions and deductions for pets age plus you need to be a vet to understand the jargon.... I will be cancelling my two policies and recommending my friends who have the same policy do the same... not worth the stress on top of everything else.

Shame there isn't minus million on star rating my mum passed away in april and still waiting for an answer to see if we are going to get the £10000 of life insurance. But omg they are absolutely disgusting no manners and definitely no empathy for anyone i have been ringing them 3 or 4 times a week and also having to ring my mums drs to chase up medical records what the hell mum died of phenomena brought on by heart attack i really dont think they are going to pay out especially after reading the reviews. I have put in at least 5 complaints and also letter has been sent to the ombudsman

Appalling service when reporting my freezer defrosting when we were on holiday due to trip out switch problem. Possibly due to thunderstorms following hot spell when electric went off in street. Classed as lack of maintenance issue in a new bungalow with good quality fuse box. Rude girl that was incensed that I should think of making a claim. Never had customer service like it. We are pensioners and have insurance with them for 20 years. Sent photos. We are insured up to £1000 of food and after man agreed we should order a new freezer ( rancid after 2 weeks approx) want receipts for every food store we shop in. I have receipts for all deliveries thank goodness. Non for daily shopping. Fridge rejected due to neglect of maintenance of electricity!!! How do you maintain a perfectly efficient electricity service. Tried to use their complaint service and guess what. It does not work online, Really aggressive reply from clerk who I can only suspect was the person who took my first call.

appalling service, involving tardy telephone answering and hostile staff. In addition, a variety of conflicting requirements, saying one thing to me and another to someone else, including giving different email addresses for reports. I have already arranged for new house insurance, discovering in the process that I have also been paying well-over the standard price. I have now been on hold for 40 mins and the claim ongoing now for 2 weeks.

I was burgled at the end of April. I’m still waiting for payment. Referred to a loss adjuster who came round a month later. Called L&G early July and they told me the loss adjuster were settling. They acted because I called them. Called 2 weeks later as heard nothing and was told to contact loss adjuster but couldn’t get through. Said there’s nothing they can do but I persisted and told them I pay you my money so you do something. 3 months on still waiting. Never again!

Terrible service. Second time I have tried to get through to ask a question regarding my pet insurance. First time I gave up after 25 minutes. Currently been on hold for 40 minutes. Tried emailing nearly a week ago and have heard nothing back. All of this and they want to put my premiums up by £70 a year. Awful customer service.

I would like to cancel my life insurance policy.paying £25 a monthfor £2,827 in18 years time? Realized that is a waste of money so just cancel!

They are dumping everyone who has a mortgage ISA. I have 4 years left to pay off my Home and now a company I have never heard of will be handling my most important investments. In 1998 I chose L&G which turns out to be the biggest mistake of my life! I hope I can still sue Legal and General if the company who takes over who nobody has heard of let me down! Or my life will be a wasted existence with nothing to pass on to my children and homeless. I HATE L&G

Stay away from Legal And General. I had buildings and contents insurance with them and had a water leak. They did everything to pay out as little as possible. It started with the surveyor attending and saying on his report evidence of signs of damp? After a major water leak. They disputed I had kitchen ceramic tiles and said it was laminate despite me sending pictures. They said they would get Mark from Poloygon to check?? Why didn't they send an assessor. My claim was put to a third party Claims Consortium who were worse. The staff turnover is high so I had three or four people dealing with my claim. I had to constantly call in and wait on the phone for ages and then the person dealing was always at lunch or on another line. If they had sent an assessor they would have seen the damage. They argued for weeks over a damaged cupboard despite me sending pictures which they apparently lost? Polygon certified the area dry when in fact it wasn't and in the end I got another dehumidifier to dry the property out properly. I will never go with this company again and I would recommend you stay away. Totally unprofessional. In the end I gave up accepted what they offered and am at least 4000 out of pocket. Great insurance!

I have given one star because it won’t allow me to leave anything lower. This company are appalling they will as a matter of routine always deny a claim, no matter how legitimate. Please insure through a more reputable company.

They’ve just changed to in house pet claims management after using an outsourced firm for the 3 years I have been claiming for my dogs chronic illness. Previously, they kept me fully up to speed by email as the claim was processed. Now, I’ve had almost nothing from them, nearly 8 weeks after I filed the claim. They told me they needed the full medical history for my dog, only after I had phoned them, 6 weeks after I filed the claim. Despite the fact they have been in possession of that history for over a week , they still have not confirmed they are processing the claim . I’ve sent numerous emails , two registered letters, three phone calls and got nowhere. Even a supervisor, who promised to call me back has never done so 10 days after I spoke to her. Do not touch these clowns with a barge pole!

I've covered home insurance with L&G for several years. For some reason my renewal premium has been quoted at 367% of the previous year's, with no claims having been made. The cover for rebuilding is more than 6x the figure quoted by the BCIS rebuild calculator, cover for contents is at least 3x the amount I have and covered last year. Apparently they've increased their minimum cover but didn't bother explaining this, no doubt hoping that customers wouldn't notice but just pay up to continue cover. I'm glad I did see it and have now switched to a more honest company.

Terrible service for the self employed. They calculate what they pay on previous tax return of 2 years ago so can pay out less. They are way over the 10 days maximum pay out time and blamed a move of office. When finally come to pay out they then want another doctors certificate even tho they have had the current certificate the whole time no one cared to look at it!!!waisting more nhs resources when my knee is visible clearly damaged. Terrible company do not use!!!!

6 weeks after retiring I have received nothing but forms to fill in and long frustrating telephone calls. They insist on doing everything through the mail. They do NOT properly inform you of their many silly requirements at the outset. I think their only objective is to keep your money for as long as they can. There must be better companies as these cowboys have set the bar very low!
