Firstly, I like GO Outdoors. I've previously left some 5 star reviews re the staff, their service and the stores. However, this faith has been badly shaken. I Visited the Milton Keynes store a couple of weeks ago and bought two expensive backpacks. They didn't have the sizes or colours we wanted in store so, the shop assistant ordered the ones we wanted online. We also took advantage of their price match and got a good discount. Delivery 3-5 working days. Happy bunnies. Jump forward two weeks. No backpacks arrived. I called customer services. There had been no contact from G.O. with in the interim. I was told, one backpack was out of stock and the other should have been refunded. I had received no such refund and asked why I had been refunded, the backpack was out of stock I was told. But why not refund both, I enquired, they're both out of stock at least give me the opportunity to wait for both to be in stock. And why no communication of this? "I don't know" was the response. I was asked if wanted to cancel the other backpack and get a refund for that as well?. I did, so i was put on another lengthy hold. Eventual I was told that Customer Service couldn't put the refund back on my card, I had to go back into store and explain everything to them, again. (You can see why customers get annoyed, but I bit my lip). Just lucky I wasn't visiting the area from far away I suppose. Whilst I was waiting, I checked stock availability on G.O. website, both backpacks were in stock! I queried this and asked if they could just be re-ordered, no, not possible I was told. "Yes, I don't know why this happens" was told, what, items shown as in-stock on your website being out of stock? "Yeah" you can't check stock availability on your system? Well, both backpacks are shown in stock, can I order them now like I did in store? "No, they're out of stock" (screams into cushion...) My suspicion is this. When I requested the price match, the staff member checked the details of the other retailer and that the price match was in line with G.O. policy. All good, discount went through. The price match was accepted but it was a large discount, nearly £150 for the two packs. Not wanting to effectively give the packs away, cynics among you (I couldn't possibly say) might think that this feels like an underhand way by G.O. of getting out of honouring transaction and their own price match (as long as its not too much) policy. The whole thing just stinks. Needless to say, once bitten twice shy. Caveat emptor.

We visited the store to purchase several beghaus coats and fleeces for myself and my wife. The staff in the store were very friendly and really brilliant. They supported us with advice and guidance on the items and in bringing the correct sizes from the warehouse. We actually spend way to much in time in the store making up our minds. One of the staff picks this up in our conversation and warned us stays were limited to 2-hrs. Having almost spent this much time in the store he kindly updated their system with our car number plate so we wouldn't get a fine. The fine for overstay is £150. A couple of issues with the visit. A number of the items were either not priced up or incorrectly priced, compared to that on their system; The staff were clear the store would match any offer on their website. However when we went to the till to pay the manager seemed to try and unpick this... this doesn't apply, you can't do this, you can't apply both deals at the same time, etc... all this said in a very offish and arrogant tone, whilst munching on chewing gum. When I showed her the basket on the website and the fact all the deals had been applied... she reluctant applied the deals, "as one off", and was even more stand offish; Having processed the payment for the goods, she stood arrogantly waiting for us to leave. Having bought 5 items she made no attempt to ask whether we wanted a carrier bag, with the purchases piled up on the till. From the point when the payment went through she remained silence... not even a word around "thank you for shopping at ...", have a good day. Again the staff on the shop floor were brilliant... the manager really does need to get a change or attitude or personality....

Sun 9 Oct 2022. 1330hrs. Poole store. One member of staff in entire store. Poor girl working till with never-ending queue of customers. No security, no manager, no-one working shop floor. All the hallmarks of a company in trouble.

I ordered online and they 2 items that were completely the wrong size and colour - but there is no option to return them for free, and they do not reimburse postage costs (even though it was their mistake causing me to return!) It's a ridiculous company, the whole 'Go outdoors card' thing is an absolute racket and they know it - it's just an excuse to slap an extra five quid on top of every order, because they know nobody carries the bloody card around with them at all times

Bought something online and paid for next day delivery. Parcel arrived, wrong item sent. Contacted them and they refunded my delivery charge. Took the wrong item back to the store and 3 weeks later still waiting for refund for the item. Contacted them and received about 10 emails in the space of 4 days all asking the same question and from a different advisor each time - still no refund. I have given up trying to get my refund for something which had they sent correctly in the first place wouldn't have had to return. Terrible company to deal with, lesson learnt will never deal with them again!

I've placed 2 click and collect orders and both have been messed up. Really regret trying this company out as they are useless

Sadly on numerous occasions delivery on Internet orders have been delayed. This has been on standard and next day shipping. And whilst postal costs have been refunded we have still been left without items in time for what we ordered them for. Will not be using again as isn't just a one off now.

I ordered a wetsuit online and once it arrived it didn’t fit me correctly so I went onto the returns link to create a returns label. I was then told I couldn’t return the wetsuit as it’s not eligible for a refund and to contact customer services. After about 10 emails back and forth I was told that wetsuits fall under swimwear and cannot be returned if there is not a hygiene strip on the inside. However wetsuits don’t come with a hygiene strip as clothing is commonly worn underneath. I was told I could try and go to my local store and maybe they could sort it out. I refuse to pay extra costs to travel to a store without a definite refund. No where on the product description or returns policy does it state that wetsuits aren’t able to be returned. I’ve opened a case through PayPal and hopefully they can help as I’m now £50 down with a wetsuit that doesn’t fit.

Went to Go outdoors Canterbury branch to buy a single air mattress. Looked round could only find dozens of double mattresses, all singles sold out. Does that that tell those higher up that single air mattresses are more popular than doubles. Get your act together go outdoors and stock more of the popular single one. Another gripe the price that’s on some on some items looks good until you read the small print underneath saying a more expensive price if you haven’t got a membership price.Sorry but to me that’s not good customer service just give the customer a realistic price.

Ordered a awning with a membership card, order did not arrive, went to my account and the item had been cancelled, no email to tell me this had been cancelled but still charged for card, so i reordered an other produce on the 3 August, heard nothing till the 16 August, looked at tracking from Evri, still at depot, contacted Go outdoors, said parcel had been lost, without telling me and before I could ask for refund they had resent new order, that means I will not receive until 23 August at the earliest if I do receive at all, twenty days plus to receive items is a disgrace terrible company to deal with

Go Outdoors automatically added a Member's card to my order when I bought a tent and took the £5 for the card. But then it cancelled the tent (gave no reason) for which it gave me a refund but didn't cancel the Member's card. I don't need anything else so that's £5 wasted. Feel I've been conned.

Order on 10 August then decided to cancel once I realised goods would take 4-6 days delivery. Called to cancel told to wait 24 hours then call back. Did this yet received email informing me my goods had been dispatched. Called back 2 times told a cancellation was requested. 14 August returning from camping good state delivered in email. Spoke to then while travelling told I'm sorry we cannot guarantee cancellation. Sometimes sorry is just not enough. All I wanted was to cancel the order before it was dispatched and received a refund. Now I'm gonna end up waiting god knows how long for a process I was told was completed on Thursday 11 August. CUSTOMER service is poor o don't appreciate being lied too or trying to keep my money and making my life difficult. I would never ever recommend this company.

Don't use the online order service, goods if arrive at all are broken and it is difficult to get a satisfactory response from the customer service. The CS appear to skim read email, assume they know what they have responded and missed the point completely. Then when reporting a partial delivery I am expected to do the chasing and form filling for the replacement. Shop in store would be my advice.
