Ordered a bedframe. Wood on frame couldn't support mattress as stapled in and made of flimsy materials. Homebase customer services taking up to 7 days to reply to emails. Despite attaching photos of evidence very poor outcome, just sent me an email to say they would collect bed on a date they have arranged. Declined to send me similar bedframe in exchange of their faulty item which was only £50 more.Very poor service, will never buy from them again.

I ordered an £800 garden shed which was going to be delivered this week after agreeing the delivery date 3 weeks in advance. I took time off work to wait for the delivery and organised two men to be here to dismantle the existing shed and replace the base ready for the new one to arrive. I then receive a call to say they couldn';t make this delivery date and i will have to wait another 3 weeks. I have since cancelled my order.

I had the same problem with a new kitchen. Ordered in January to be fitted second week of march. The salespeople were very convincing and I thought by the middle of march I would be the proud owner of a lovely kitchen. Oh how wrong was I?! Got messed about, passed from pillar to post then back again to the point where I told them to stick it after a week of lies. I still haven't had my deposit back and have a hob, sink and taps in my house over a month after it was delivered. I thought Homebase had forgotten about them but no, I had a call from the Swansea store to ask when they can collect them. I'm deciding to ignore their calls for a bit then give them several dates when I know full well I shall be in work, then when it suits me I'll allow them their items when I've received my full deposit - works both ways :-). I'm just very lucky I read reviews and heeded them before they started ripping my old kitchen out and replacing it with their crap

Total joke from start to finish. Ordered a wardrobe from them, cost over £400 and paid £89 to have it put up. At first they got the delivery dates wrong and changed them without telling us. Then the building it service, if you can call it that! Chopped and changed dates. Serco the only company you have to work around. In the end the wardrobe turned up and a week later after a many visits to the store and phone calls they came to put it up. It fell to bits on them! totally not fit for purpose. Even the assembly guys thought it was a death trap. All in all I will never shop there again.

Homebase Kirkcaldy must provide the poorest leave of service any where. Over priced and best avoided.

Hope you're all sitting comfortably.......ok I shall begin!!!! :D lol I purchased a kitchen through HOMEBASE on 24th January.......gave all the details to the salesman including that we specifically needed an all LPG cooker as we don't have mains gas here......not dual fuel either as there will be too much damage to move the heavy core cooker cable so we've agreed an all gas cooker is our best option & we pick from the brochure given by the salesman & our kitchen was designed around a 100cm range cooker........we were told it would be 6wks for delivery then installation would be later that week......added into the price we had to pay for accommodation for installers due to location.......the installer came out to be sure the measurements etc were exact & confirmed the style etc.........oh but it'll be 10wks as we're snowed under.......so we agreed that 20th April would be fine......I get a phonecall from cooker company to confirm it was all gas we wanted (we had already told homebase it was LPG & was on the plans!) yes all gas not dual fuel (electric/gas)........I booked annual leave from work so someone was in all day everyday should any issues crop up............we start removing our old kitchen as there were things that needed done prior to new one being installed.............then the fun begins............4wks prior to installation (mid removal of our old one!) we get a call from the installer NOT anyone from homebase to say that they were struggling to get to us for that date due to other jobs & would we consider postponing our install............sorry not possible as I cannot change my annual leave at such short notice & my kitchen has already been removed & repair work going on in meantime that will leave me without a kitchen so it was agreed that the 20th of April would still have to stand.......bear in mind this is NOT homebase phoning to apologise for this............delivery of kitchen was agreed to be 15th April & we were to check the packaging etc of items wasn't damaged...........day of delivery & all the cupboards etc arrive but no cooker & hood apparently we should have been made aware this was to be a separate delivery.......first we knew of it!!! So we check the boxes aren't damaged.....all fine.....then as soon as I seen the worktops coming out I knew they were the wrong ones..........so I signed the delivery "as items not damaged but wrong worktops"..........contact homebase who were going to arrange delivery of the right ones before the installers started on mon 20th..............installers were held up so didn't arrive until 21st.....no biggy but as long as they completed as agreed no problem (no correct worktops yet by the way)...........so the installers arrive & start checking off items........all there except no worktops...........checked on worktop delivery & they are with carrier & will be with us within 24hrs......no prob as the installers have plenty to do until they arrive.........check the cooker has been re-jetted for LPG.......uh-oh another problem it hadn't & through some digging of about 100 phonecalls with the cooker company blaming homebase & vice versa.......apparently my cooker I'd picked with the salesman agreeing it could be LPG......turns out it can't!!! So another one needs arranged.......guess what.......not one other cooker matches what I wanted in that colour or size without removing parts of new kitchen before work even begins........lots of phonecalls & blame throwing & we cannot have the cooker we wanted.........oh & still no worktops..........after a LOT of calls it was agreed that I could pick a reasonable alternative & homebase will cover the shortfall......still not possible to get any cooker to match my requirements so it was agreed I'd accept a dual fuel (NOT what I want but a reasonable substitute) & that homebase will cover the damage of re-routing cable once cooker arrives............still no worktops...........installers carry on doing a brilliant job in awkward circumstances..........electrician does what he can but plumber/corgi can't arrive as no cooker been delivered so we lost him............electrician finishes all that he can do & goes........still no worktops they're in Scotland somewhere but no-one knows where..........installers are delaying as long as they possibly can but still no worktops............lots of calls to try & find 2 worktops in the whole of Scotland but one team from homebase say they weren't even reordered & the 2nd team say they are with a carrier...........for 7 days?????????? Installers have now finished & gone yesterday & I'm left with an unusable kitchen...........no sink/no water/no gas/no cooker/no worktops...........I am due back to work on monday & cannot afford to waste any more annual leave because homebase cannot organise a p*** up in a brewery.............I even gave them alternative options of worktops to get the kitchen finished.......now the installers have gone off the job and are fully booked until JULY.......I have paid for accommodation that's now wasted as the installers have gone off to another job elsewhere.......I have taken time off work on basic holiday pay for this installation but now apparently it's not possible to complete the job.......due to our location they can't get a cooker & hood & 2 worktops here......even though they have been made aware on countless occasions that there are many national companies who do overnight trunking to this area in particular but yet homebase will not consider using them.........therefore they are discriminating against our location now only after accepting our money & commission!!!! I have been reasonable but after waiting over 10 days for worktops to travel from what appears to be the moon I think I'm well within my rights to complain & have a response from homebase. Please give away your hard earned money to homebase if you want a half a job done & your room rendered unusable & for all homebase managers to pass the buck & no-one willing to accept responsibility!!!!! I cannot speak highly enough of the installers as they done a fantastic job in very difficult circumstances!!!! Many many phonecalls later & we're passed from pillar to post with excuse after excuse & no-one really coming up with a reasonable resolution (we were offered a "few nice meals on us"!!!!!!!) just everyone passing the buck to someone else & "we'll get them to call you back" Yet i'm still stuck with nothing & awaiting the ever important "manager/supervisor/wee green men/invisible man" to phone us back...........homebase's tagline is "homebase: make a house a home"............should be "we'll make you pay for us to render your house unusable & not give a monkey's about you" Fighting to get out deposit back & for them to remove what they have fitted but yet they even find those things impossible & we get passed to someone else & again & again They have ruined what was meant to be a nice treat getting a lovely new kitchen........it's a heartbreaking disaster :(

i have ready reviews here and there but like many others didnt believe what i read here and now i regret, here is my story: ordered sofa from homebase delivery was due in 28 days, got call 1 week before about NOT in stock and wont be delivered until another month, no apologies from homebase, this is second time this has happened and this tie i warned them about leaving bad review which they didnt care for. Homebase list cheap items which they dont have in stock and once they have taken enough orders from the customers then they place the actual order themselves from the suppliers to get that cheaper price. In my case they didnt have enough customers buying the same sofa and they want to buy more time by saying not in stock and gain another month to offer further cheaper prices to attract more customers to buy that sofa. This is how they work. Avoid at all cost. Pay a bit more and go elsewhere!

Absolutely appalling service from homebase. We were due to have a table and 6 chairs delivered in January. We waited in the entire day only do discover that they would not be delivered that date - no one contacted us to let us know this and did not seem to be sorry for the inconvenience caused. We finally managed to arrange another date several weeks later. On this occasion, the table and 4 correct chairs were delivered but we discovered after they had gone that the two others were incorrect. When calling homebase they apologised but were not able to set another delivery date for another 6 weeks. We were extremely frustrated and all they could offer us was a £50 gift voucher which now forces us to spend more money in store which we do not want to do. 6 weeks passed and we called to check the delivery date was still confirmed - this time they told us that it was going to be delayed again - by another 4 weeks. We are now a week before the delivery is due to come (almost 11 weeks after original date) and they have called to say it will be delayed again! They have not offered us any compensation yet. Our concern is that they will actually never get the remaining chairs back in stock and are not admitting this. They have been paid for in full so in theory Homebase are stealing from us as they are unable to fulfil delivery of this item. This is absolutely disgusting and they don't seem to be able to go above and beyond what they do to get the item that they have sold to us from the warehouse to be delivered. The story continues and we don't know if we will ever get the final two chairs - we will be stuck with a table and 4 chairs when we need 6 and will not be able to buy matching ones again. I will be looking for a full refund on the item and a lot of compensation for the time taken out of work, stress of calling, phone bills to call them and sit on hold. I would not recommend buying anything from Homebase in the future because you cannot guarantee that you will actually get this item/or you wait 4-5 months when you could have enjoyed another item from another shop.

wanted a Karcher power washer and decided to 'reserve' one online from Homebase. The model that I wanted was out of stock at my local store but, according to the Hombase online system there were 2 available at a store some 12 or so miles from my address. It was a Sunday and I wanted to get the washer to use it that day and so I drove out to the store to pick it up after 'reserving' it online. When I got there I was served by a young man who clearly had NO idea what he was doing. He tried to give me the wrong model at first and, when I noticed that, he then went off to look for the one that I had 'reserved'. After half an hour or so he returned to say that they did NOT have the model that I had 'reserved' in stock (and that one had been stolen the day before - apparently!!) His only 'explanation' of how the online system still showed 2 in stock was to shrug his shoulders and look stupid (not difficult in his case) and he clearly had no concern that I had just spent an hour driving there on a Sunday through very heavy traffic. There was apparently no-one more senior avaialble who I could speak to (or more likely no-one who wanted to speak to me) and I was then summarily dismissed. I recently read that Homebase are closing a number of stores because they are not doing enough business and it is 'customer service' like this that will ultimately lead to their demise and not a moment to soon if my experience is anything to go by. Homebase DID have a good discounted offer on Karcher washers at the time that I was trying to buy from them but I would rather pay a bit more to obtain one from a reputable company than to waste my time with this bunch of unprofessional, rude and totally useless cretins.

Bought a walk in shower. The bottom runners rusted. Homebase replaced them. Rusted again. Rafts of excuses from the manufacturers, eventually told we should only wash our shower cubicle with hot soapy water (not in the instructions). An independent technician came out and said the rusting was wear and tear. So....you can spend over £500 on an Aqualisa shower with a ten year guarantee and when it rusts in six weeks Homebase will tell you this is wear and tear and do nothing about it......avoid avoid avoid.

had a total bathroom innovation done for a small wetroom. The installation was completed in time but to a very shoddy standard. Total disregard for things I had paid leaving me with a badly fitted damaged bathroom and still having to wait in for homebase fitters 8 months later. They are disorganised and forget to come when they say they will and don't call you to tell you. We were left with bent and broken fitting bodged to fit. Our experience was that the fitters will spend as little time and attention on the job as possible. Awful waste of five thousand pounds for a tiny room. Was quoted 2K less by a local firm but was lured in by homebase promised assured quality and service, beware the smooth talking salesman!

Appalling customer service, non delivery of item ordered on line. Placed an order for spiral box plant on 22 March still not received. 11th April.Very difficult to contact them. Using only 0345 numbers., call answered after 20 mins. Three emails later and several broken promises I have cancelled the order. Let's see how long it takes to refund the money. Very frustrating will definitely not be dealing with them again. Very poor service!!!

I was a big shopper in Homebase, both here inEngland and my home town in Northern Ireland. Today I was very embarrassed to find that my northern Irish sterling was unacceptable in your Huntingdon store. Luckly for me I had a bank card so was able to continue with my purchases. Regrettably I could not buy the Webber barbarque I was interested in as it was my intention to use my £300 Irish sterling. Perhaps you should consider putting a sign up to inform customers that only Bank of England notes are acceptably in your stores. Thus preventing embarrassing customers at checkout. pbmorfitt@gmail.com

Just been to homebase today; Easter Monday. I purchased some furniture for my parents; which was completed in store at the time on computer. Although the shop was busy I was served by a efficient and professional gentleman called Craig at the Dunfermline branch. He was was rushed off his feet but he was very attentive in his service to me and my son. I would like to say that I appreciated this very much on what could of been a different experience and outcome today.

Homebase Composite Door. I ordered and paid cash for a composite door in January. I was told installation would be about 28 days after paying for the door. After 3 weeks I phoned to get an installation date and was told due to a manufacturing problem I would not get the door until the end of March. I wasn't happy with this, after all I could still place the order with someone else and get the door installed befor the end of March, I complained. They looked into it and said the door could be fitted on 2nd March. They didn't show or even phone. I phoned them to see what was going on. They gave me a new date 3rd April. I was not happy. I complained to the directors office at Home Retail Group. Someone there said I would be contacted by the installation team to resolve the issue. I was eventually told the 23 March (today) was to be the installation day. No show so far. I've phoned them and they are saying they've booked me in for 8th April . As I write I'm waiting to hear from the directors office. My advice to any would be pruchasers of large items requiring Homebase installation would be to forget it and spend your money elsewhere, they are utterly unreliable. Customer Service seem to just give you some guff to get you of the phone rather than sort the problem. Nobody seems to know whats going on when you call them. Seems the management have lost control. Mind you they're good at getting your money. Spend wisely spend elsewhere.

Ordered 16 packs of tiles for delivery. Website said that they would be in touch to arrange delivery. 1 week later still no contact so I called them. 1 hr on the phone to be told that they would now not be able to delivery within 10 days as they state on their website and they were not interested in trying to get the delivery within the time frame they state on their website and that would work for me so it's take it or leave it. I chose to leave it and i suggest you do the same!

Bought a shower tray and cubicle and tiles from Homebase Waltham Cross. Staff were excellent. I am a qualified plumber and when placing one of the glass panels on the tray it shattered into a thousand pieces. I phoned up the store and explained ,they put me through to distribution depot who then put me back to store, who then put me through to D.D who then put me back to store. To get my shower done I offered to pay for one panel but they said I would have to buy a whole new shower. They gave me the manufactures details who said the same , I would have to buy the whole thing. Which I found unbelievable. In the end I got so fed up being messed around and got thepanel made up exactly the same as original one for £70. So why couldn't' anyone been a bit more helpful as it wasn't my fault. I suppose I could have persude this further but I wanted a shower. By the way, although I got nowhere.,the staff were always polite and friendly . I hope someone from Homebase reads these reviews and think how they can improve, because they are a good store

Only half came and the rest has now been promises for next week my husband said when he went out to the lorry all the stuff was thrown about in the back. He said he will not fit a homebase kitchen again. Go to howdens or magnets!
