I bought a HP Pavilion-15 laptop last year from PC World. It is still under warranty. After exactly 8 month's use, it's left side hinge broke. It broke the posterior casing as well. PC world repair corner was not sure what to do. They wanted to send the laptop to another repair centre if I deposit 50 pounds. They even did not look at the damage. They said it's just normal to break hinge after few months. I called HP customer services. They said we have given all warranty and care to PC World and Currey if I bought it from there. Rediculous. I am fed of it. Never buy HP or any other product from PC world or curreys directly.

Ordered a washing machine 3 weeks ago and they forgot to ask us if we need to book in a hard wiring. we then ordered a fridge (our own fault to use the same company) only for the fridge to arrive damaged. i then called to order a new replacement fridge where they promised to book it in for Wednesday and the hard wiring for the washing machine to be done. none of the items were booked in and had to do it all over again. NEVER use them

I was one of the first to buy the new Epson L355 Ecotank printer when they were released back in January. The thought of being able to use this for two years before needing refills, was a major point for me making the purchase. I was also told that the refills were only £7.99 each. Now, 6 months down the line, the black colour is about to run out, so I went back to PC World to see about buying a replacement only to find that the cost of refills was now £8.99 and increase of £4 over the full set of four refills. This is yet another "rip-off" . If the cost of doing a total refill is now £4 per set extra, after just 6 months, and this will probably increase every subsequent six months, for those people who do manage to survive the full two years before refilling can look to expect an additional cost of £24 over and above what you have been told. However, having walked out of the store in disgust and anger about this, I got on to the Internet and found that Argos are selling the refills at the price of £6.99 with free delivery on the four pack set, within two days, needless to say, they got my business. PC World do not, and will not, deserve the business from me in the future.

I visited the Swindon store, I had to wait ages for someone to come and see me, the salesman then tried to sell me things I didn't want. I was emailed the next day to say my order was ready to pick up, drove to the store only to find if was not ready at all and they didn't even seem to care. I find the shop cold, unwelcoming and unfriendly.

Bought a 50 inch 4k tv along with 2 lenovo all in one pcs, tv had a faulty screen when unpacked at home, after a completely unhelpful and rude service on the phone from the 'Know How Team' i was told that because i bought it in store, i had to take it back myself rather than if id bought it online, they would have collected it! Very inconvenient and costly.(i live a long drive from the store) Regarding the pc's, i told the salesman they are for office work etc, they are not fit for purpose, they do not even have microsoft word or excel. Rubbish for £900 each. Very poor customer service

Terrible customer service because they have limited competition. After my recent experience I would rather pay more at another store than give PC World My hard earned money. My grievance? I ordered a laptop and received message 4 days later to say it had arrived in store. Next day had message to say that unfortunately they had given my purchase to another customer and could not get me another as no longer available! To get another laptop anywhere near the spec of my original purchase I would have to spend an EXTRA £100! Never mind the manager was willing to knock £20 off it! That means because of their incompetance I will still be £80 out of pocket and PC World will be making MORE profit! Why don't they understand that as I had paid for the laptop in full and received a message to say MY laptop had arrived, it no longer belonged to them to sell to someone else! In my opinion they were at that point just storing it for me! Know how Customer service were just as disinterested and couldn't offer any solution. What a useless organisation. Will never shop there again!

I purchased a HP Pavillion 500 8GB Desktop for my son last year. After two months it became faulty. Windows 8 tiles stopped working - at one point it disappeared completely. PC World/Curry's Know How help desk helped us to reboot the system and set it back to factory settings on numerous occasions. Eventually in January, after rebooting the system and having to reload games several times I took the PC back to the store I had bought it from. The computer was sent away and repaired, they told me they had replaced the motherboard. Almost immediately it broke again. My son has now reset the computer back to factory settings over twenty times. I took the PC back to the store. I was told that they would have to send it for repair for at least 4 times before they would consider replacing it (really?). It is now coming to the end of its 12 month guarantee (May 2015). I have given the store ample opportunity to fix the computer but I feel an "its out of guarantee we can't do anything about " coming up. I will NEVER buy anything from this store again. Their goods are faulty, their queues at the helpdesk are very long with people bringing back faulty goods, they fob you off. I would advise anyone thinking of buying from Currys/PC World to go somewhere else. I wouldn't even give them one star.

Terrible customer service. I tried to purchase a laptop online and was called by Tracy from their fraud team. The women spoke to me in the worst tone and seemed put out that I wanted a bit of an explanation as to why I was being asked all these unusual questions. I was informed by Tracy that the questions were not unusual, as they are mentioned in their documentation (clearly a clever girl). I decided I would rather not spend Friday afternoon talking to such a miserable mare, so said to cancel and I would buy in the shop if it is an issue. They cancelled and said no funds would be taken ( confirmed by email), but they have put in some kind of request and my funds are now stuck in limbo for ten days. That'll teach me for trying to give them money. Terrible experience from start to finish. Their customer service reps are absolutely useless. It is clear their job is to get rid of callers, rather than fix anything for a customer. I have never had anything like this with Amazon, no wonder they do so well.

I went to currys pc world yesterday in Crawley. I walked in to purchase a product which was about £160 +. I needed to speak to a sales rep or staff member to make sure I will buy the correct item. I waited about 15 minutes for someone to make at least eye contact or a staff member to walk round the area I was in. Most of the staff members were standing round chatting, oblivious to their customers in their store. I think the customer service is awful. We walk in to spend our money and the staff don't have the urgency or the drive to come and help or at least ask if you need help. This has happened on many occasions in this particular store and I usually just walk out. I must stress though, when the member of staff did come over he was ever so helpful and will give praise were it's due. One reccomondation I would give is train staff to be more aware of the customers and acknowledge us when we in the store browsing or need help.

In September of last year I bought a flat screen television on behalf of my elderly mother, who lives on her own and relies on her TV for entertainment and radio. After 6 months, in March of this year, the TV just stopped working. I took it back to the store and they returned it to be repaired, which they apparently did and I picked it up one week later with a detailed description that they had repaired the faulty components - the mainboard; hardly filling me with confidence that the goods you pay good money for need this type of component repaired within 6 months of purchase. Two days later the same thing happened and the TV went completely blank again with loud crackling noises coming from the TV as though it may burst into flames at any second. After phoning the head office repeatedly, asking for someone to call me back to discuss my options (but no one ever did) I took the set back to the store for a second time explaining that this had happened and frankly this was unacceptable and a hazard and they have refused to replace this faulty set and to send it off for repair once again, leaving my mother without a set once more. They point blank refused to replace this set and I will NEVER be shopping here again. I have found their customer service shocking and their attitude towards the people who spend good money in their store unacceptable. I fully intend to find out my consumer rights and take this further but would urge people to go to reputable firms to purchase their electrical goods.

One star is far too good for a company with such appalling customer service. Goods generally good but manufacturers who's products sell via this company will suffer badly by association... Truly awful customer service.

I have been a customer a long time I had a pc from them in 2008 and the two occasions I had my pc had to go in it was well dealt with and the staff at knowhow were really nice and couldn't have been more helpful. My pc came back on the 28th march 2015 after they had it for 3 days she is running vista home and she is running like a brand new pc. So don't treat pc world as totally rubbish because when ever I have needed help they have always been there for me

We purchased an LG 55inch tv last August. We purchased extra warranty . The TV wouldn't respond to the remote control and there are no buttons on the Tv. We contacted curry,s they sent the company that we had taken the warranty out with to collect it. They were unable to fix the problem. Currys then told us they couldn't help us as it was a soft ware problem and we would have to wait for LG to come up with a solution to upgrade their software,we are left with a tv we are unable to use. How is that right. Curry,s after service stinks. We will never buy anything else from currys/PCWorld again. Their customer service is non existant.

Shockingly rude and flouting the law ! I recently ordered a Samsung Monitor online from PC World and when it arrived I changed my mind seeing the quality of picture. I phoned them very next day and I was told that once I have switched it on- it is used and can no longer be returned. I explained that how am I supposed to inspect as per Distance Selling Regulations without switching on an electrical item? My packaging is untouched and it is as new. I asked to speak to senior manager and the lady on phone was rude and told me that there is no one senior. The answer is it can't be returned and you can do whatever you can !! I spoke to Citizens Advice Bureau and was told it is totally against the law and should phone them again to remind about the law. Even after phoning them twice and waiting for 30 mins on hold- I was told it is not going any forward and there is no process to escalate the process and that is final and I can do whatever I can. Avoid this company at any cost !!

So many negative reviews of Currys PC World online...if you are tempted by the shiny new products on display in their shops and by the sales patter, read on and please do not buy from this company. Here's what you should do: 1. Look at their products, check their prices. Currys PC World world are a large company so can get good prices from suppliers. DO NOT BUY! 2. If you prefer to buy from a company with shops, John Lewis will match Currys PC World pricing. If there is a problem they will resolve it quickly and with pleasure, unlike Currys PC World. 3. If you want an even better price and are happy to shop online go to RDO, ao.com, Appliances Direct., Richer Sounds etc They will match the prices and have far better customer service. Why? 1. The Currys PC World sales people are paid incentives on certain products and will attempt to sell in store based on how they are paid, not what's right for you. Manufacturers provide them with incentives to sell their products so this is what will be pushed at you. 2. Most customer problems start once the money has been paid, Currys PC World have one of the worst approaches to customers of any company (check Which! recent worst brands in the UK for proof) 3. If you call their customer service centre, you will always get an automated voice saying "we are extra busy right now so you may have to wait longer than usual". This will happen every time you call so not sure when "usual" is, you will never wait less than 5-10 minutes. You have to press '0' to get a real person on the line and get out of the endless press 1 to hear 7 more options etc. 4. Once something has been agreed with a customer service agent, more often than not you will have to call to chase as there is no action 5. Each time you call you will speak to a different person who will tell you a different thing - this just extends the time it takes to solve your problem. No-one will own your problem and be accountable for solving it for you. 6. Too often to get a problem solved, you have to threaten small claims court or push really hard to make them accept there is a problem they need to solve. It is their responsibility to solve it if you bought from them. 7. There is no way to escalate a problem if you are treated badly so you will end up frustrated and upset. 8. Currys PC World will attempt to deny responsibility, fob the problem off to a manufacturer and generally treat you and your situation as unimportant. Most of us in the UK work very hard to earn our money, and we get a bit excited when we buy a new computer, home appliance, tablet, TV or something else. It is completely wrong that this company treats us all so badly once we have spent our hard earned cash with them. They do not deserve to have you as a customer, and they have wronged so many of our compatriots I urge you to spend your money somewhere else. The only way to make a company like this change the way they think of us is to stop buying from them. When the sales numbers are bad they will be forced to improve. If you read this and don't buy from them, you will be helping to force that change. Just read the bad stories on this site and many other about Currys PC World and imagine it was you, your Mum or Dad, your Gran and Grandad, your best friend, your son or daughter who had been treated so badly. It's simply not right. My own recent experience? A 10 month old laptop, hinge came out at the back exposing the electronics, clearly a design problem. Took it into the Ealing Broadway shopping centre Currys PC World to show Fahad, the duty manager. He agreed it was not caused by me and took photographs. He then told me in a follow up email it was Samsung's issue not their's - wrong. He also told me Samsung said I had to pay £90 for a technical assessment. Sale of Goods Act says the contract is with Currys PC World as it was bought from them, not Samsung so their legal duty to accept and look into the issue. Had to then call customer service. A technical guy, Vic, said "I see why you are frustrated, if it was down to me it should just be fixed'. Instead of arranging someone to call me as promised, nothing for a week. Called again, John in customer services said 'the store should have taken it, they need a good kicking'. Did he really say that? Yes! Went back to the store...told Fahad he had to phone central customer services, actually had to really tell him he had to do this as he was not very interested. I heard him on the phone 'the guy is talking about legal action and making a real fuss'...charming. How about just focusing on solving the customer's problem? I was then asked to pay £50 for Currys PC World to do an assessment. One month of no resolution so far and have been told completely different things by 3 different Currys PC World employees - staggering. Now I am without the laptop, makes running your own business quite hard. We'll see what happens next. If you decided to read this review to the end (it's long I know), and you now decide to spend the money you have worked hard to earn somewhere else, it was worth me writing this review. We must fight back against poorly run companies like this, there are other companies who understand that if they treat you well you come back again and again to spend more money. Often it's only when there is a problem that we find out if a company cares about their customers...with electronics there will always be some problems so please consider this when you decide where to buy. Having to become forceful, assertive and fight so hard to get Currys PC World to take ownership and action is just plain wrong.
