When my car was in a collision which was not my fault RIAS quickly sorted finance with the other driver's insurance and had my car repaired straight away, with a courtesy car when needed.

Very difficult to deal with. They used erroneous data to link me to a non fault claim on another policy on which I was a named driver. Repeated calls and documents from the other insurer could not get this straight. In the end I was forced to pay the increased premium to secure the insurance. You get caught between different departments who don't communicate properly. They have promised to refund me when the information is sorted out. We will see. And now two weeks later a letter saying because of my unpaid balance of £0.00 (Yes really) that they are cancelling my insurance, with a warning of the legal implications of this. 20 minutes on hold to get through to be told this was an error (You don't say). And that I am insured. Had to escalate to get them to agree to put that in writing. I hope I don't get a claim.

Poor service, if you want to make a claim, be prepared to be pro-active. There not interested in paying out. Get onto the phone constantly otherwise youll never hear from the processed claim. Despite assurances they will keep you updated, they never get in contact. Alls they are interested in is your MONEY! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!

Keep getting ' fliers' from RIAS, stating that their car insurance policies start 'from'£160.00 Got a quote for my twelve year old ford focus estate, maximum no-claims-bonus and a clean driving license for fifty years. Lowest quote offered was in excess of £380.00 Would be very interested in finding out, exactly what make and model of car that cover for £160.00 could be obtained. Perhaps examples of this should be made compusury, on their letters.

0 stars wasn't an option for this despicable company! Tried to charge me an extra £200 for a non fault claim over two years ago. Spoke to several advisors to get it resolved and they assured me that i was insured, to ignore any correspondence as further action will only be taken when they phone me. Despite them telling me I was to ignore letters, I rung and spoke to them immediately when i received one. I was assured again that i was insured and not to worry. Received an email on 15 May telling me my policy was cancelled on 28 Apr. First i'd heard about it. Read the reviews on here. How many companies have one star reviews throughout. I'm currently seeking legal advice for compensation. Save yourselves the hassle and avoid like the plague. Joke of a company. Hope they go bust.

Even I got the chipset price from them, switch to that insurer is disaster. I bought policy from them 10/04. Policy should start 24/04. 13/10 they asked to send them proof of NCD, which I did uploading renewal letter from previous insurer. 25/04 I forward them Proof of NCD email from my previous insurer and 27/04 (3 days after policy started and 17 days as bought) I receive email with warning that my policy can be cancelled as proof of NCD not valid. It is not valid as there are no address (CAR insurance). I call to customer service, they advise to ask previous insurer to send me proof of NCD by post to have address on letter. I call my previous insurer, they say they not send letters by post but can approve it by phone. So I call back to RIAS, they ask phone number of my previous insurer, call the while I am on line and finally, after hour on the phone my NCD confirmed. But it isn't end yet. My NCD confirmed as 11 years, but on RIAS paperwork I see only 9 years. I need to call customer Services again.

I had taken out car insurance out at the beginning of March to start on 22nd March, on the 10th April i received a letter from Rias saying your insurance is cancelled from 5th April because you never returned documents to us, I had just returned from a 250 mile round trip to Norfolk from 8th-10th April. In a panic i phoned Rias and was told i never replied to a letter to return proof of no claims, i explained i never received letter, she says can you send proof of no claims on your smartphone, which i did, I'm thinking thank god this is getting sorted, after all i have driven 250 plus miles with no insurance. After 90 minutes on the phone to Rias the lady on the end of the phone says i'll get your quote now, what i say, i want my cover from march 22nd not new cover i could have had my car taken off of me for no insurance, i never received letter or even the policy, she says i can't help you, but i will quote you now, she tries to quote me but computer says sorry can't quote. In short i think Rias is a disgrace, and i am going to take them to the ombidsman

Poor customer service and unjustified costs. Have recently changed a modest Mercedes for a high performance car which RIAS/Ageas were unable to insure. RIAS/Ageas charged me £60.99 to cancel, yes cancel, the policy even though it was their underwriting conditions that prevented them insuring the replacement vehicle. This was on top of a £40 charge two weeks earlier to add a temporary driver for a long distance one day trip. As far as I am concerned this is unjustified and unacceptable and would encourage drivers to avoid this insurer. For drivers over 55 there are other insurers who do not adopt sharp practice. I a not a person who normally post negative reviews but felt compelled to do so in view of this example of extremely poor customer service.

Claim still not settled after 5 months. Claim was handled by what was described as a Loss Adjuster but was actually Claims Services who handles all claims for RIAS and whose job appears to be to pay as little as possible. Please note that claims for jewellery items are valued by what the 'Loss Adjuster' described as an 'independent' valuer who is actually Hallmark, a Company who gives 35% discount to them so hardly independent. You are therefore offered vouchers for Watches of Switzerland, Goldsmiths or Mappin and Webb (only Goldsmiths were local to me). The alternative is a cash settlement reduced by 35%. Claims Services are very unprofessional preferring to discuss your claim over the telephone and had to be requested to put their offer of settlement in writing. I will not be renewing my insurance cover with RIAS and would advise anyone thinking of doing so to think again.

Its not how 'nice' they are when they're taking your money its how efficient and helpful they are when making a claim. Sadly RIAS was lacking. Avoid like the plague.

We have had a home insurance policy with rias for many years. Unfortunately we had a burst pipe in our bathroom which has caused considerable damage to carpets, floors and ceilings. We were told today that we have to pay an excess of £250 for each thing that's damaged totalling £700 !!!! It's absolutely disgusting. Will not advise anyone to take out insurance with yourselves. It's been extremely stressful a day you've not been very helpful at all.
