“I ordered a package online that was to be delivered by Royal Mail.
In order:
1. The package was delayed.
2. They claimed to have attempted to deliver the package on a particular day, but they did not - I was in the same room as the front door all day, but there was no knocking.
3. They did not leave any card indicating they had tried to deliver.
4. Royal Mail's online form for redelivery rejects the same tracking number that other parts of the same website accept, so I cannot complete it.
5. I tried to call the Royal Mail phone number on several occasions. On each, the automated system fails to understand my address and so I cannot proceed to requesting a redelivery.
6. When the Royal Mail phone finally gets to the stage where it might put me in contact with a human, it instead hangs up on me, saying that there is no-one available. This has occurred on several different days at different times.
7. The complaints number and number for the local post office are the same number as above.
8. Their tracking page for the package has no indication of where the package is at the moment, so I can't go and collect it.
I have never had anything close to this awful experience with other delivery companies. Avoid Royal Mail.”
“Absolute terrible company don't contact there customer service pointless nothings wrong and that's that for over 2 years my mail is clearly been stolen by royal mail I have had envelopes cut up the side in one incidence just the front of the envelope when I do get mail it is only with a bill stamp on front I have had letters torn open and my gift vouchers missing nothing ever gets done it's well machine torn it and there was no excuses given for the rest I have had post from next street and for other address I have had to send back I have had signed for mail opened then has it was just tickets pushed through letter box with signed for label torn off royal mail said was t signed for sent letter from company sayig it was nothing ever done before lockdown I have aprently split myself in half and signed for mail I don't know about then when you think it can't get any worse I have had to fix my gate several times has royal mail leave it swinging open royal mail said no we shut it then when I sent video evidence in form of photos aprently its another courrier dressed in royal mail uniform I have had scarstic messages write on my letters by royal mail I have even heard them talking at sorto g office about what's in parcels and saying if I knew it was that they wouldn't of got it for the love of God when is somebody going to hold royal mail to account”
“Total waste of time. Why have tracking when the tracking doesn't know where the parcel is. 24h is 70h. 48h is 6days. Re delivery is ok. But don't bother picking up from local depot as they open when they want and you would have to work there to know that. But other than that. What a fantastic british company it is.”
“The Royal Mail tracking app is absolutely pointless. According to the app I have 5 parcels where the postman could not get access, 3 parcels where the app comes up with sorry no further information yet all my parcels were delivered.
It’s a comedy of Errors, your best scrapping it Royal Mail your a joke.”
“Very embracing and rude company! not helpful at all!! they cause even more problems!!! I have a refund and I was setting out pick up from my home... they took the item worth £150 and didn't get to the seller...therefore I am stuck and I will lose my £150 because they have no clue where my parcel is and they simply reply with " just complete the online form for item compensation" which I did but they have a limit of compensation fee which is stetted by themselves, this is no more, no less than £20 there are problem makers!!!! for what they got paid? I never going to use this rubbish service!”
“What’s the point of a delivery service who might or might not turn up? I now actively buy from sellers who offer other couriers. Royal Mail is an embarrassment to the country.”
“No point in having signed for parcels as they won’t bother. Never selected 1st Class as I guarantee you won’t get it with 2 days. Postmen show up every so often. Select better options like DPD and Hermes to make your life much easier.”
“Shocking. Posty leaves parcels where he likes in all weathers and doesn't tell us. Whenever we send things, if they arrive, they arrive late and they appear to not even bother confirming tracked deliveries now so I don't even know if its arrived. Utterly useless. What has happened to this once great company.”
“Their tracking system is pointless. Every courier has a tracking system that shows you where abouts the parcel is and the royal mail tracking don't show anything at all. You thought a big company as royal mail would have a brilliant tracking system. They are a joke and I avoid using them at all cost because you are at 60% chance you won't receive your goods or it wont arrive at it destination and plus and go wrong and missing you got have much chance of getting your money you lost in goods. They are a complete joke”

“Unreliable! Royal Mail have let me down again. They can’t do the most basic of tasks and that was to deliver a greetings card. The card was posted with a first class stamp, to ensure it got to the recipient on time. Failed.....so where is the card? Thought I’d raise a claim online (I haven’t bothered in the past) The process to claim is ridiculous, Proof of posting, I mean who actually goes in to a post office and gets a proof of postage for a simple card? No proof of actually posting the item, means no refund for the money spent on the card, which they have lost!!
Yes, Covid is around at the minute, so as we can’t get to see our loved ones, it makes receiving a card a valuable form of contact. The Royal Mail are using Covid as an excuse, yet other companies appear to be managing to deliver as normal.
The company need a good shake up! I will be using other postal companies in future.”
“Multiple times lying about attempted deliveries. Sit in all day, no attempted delivery, no red slip posted, no communication. Only when checking tracking information do I find out they ‘attempted delivery’ now I have to collect the next day because they’re only open between 8am and 10am.”
“Every other courier leaves a parcel with a neighbour or in a safe place at the property, NOT ROYAL MAIL, you have to collect at a local depot, i know you can rebook delivery but that is not always possible with working hours, Your website clearly states local office hours they are open, even states OPEN NOW. They have either chosen their own opening hours or your website is out of date, There is a scrappy sheet of paper on the window with reduced hours WHY!!!! Another unnecessary journey created by ROYAL MAIL.”
“Posted a letter to Brazil, tracked with as promise of 5 to 7 days delivery time... 1 1/2 months later... Not delivered, still in transit and cannot ask for compensation for another couple of weeks... The person I spoke to only offered platitudes to my query 'once it leaves our shores, we can no longer guaranty'... Useless...”
“Horrendous service. No mail for 6 days. Awaiting bus pass and now having to pay for 4 buses each day and hugely out of pocket. Have run out of money to get to work tomorrow (essential worker). Tried phoning Royal Mail delivery office in Perth to see if I can get someone to pick up our mail - no response. Called complaints line to see when our mail would be delivered. Advised May be Saturday 20 February (last delivery 9th February) - adviser hung up on me. Left an automated review. Hope my phone call was taped for training purposes.”
“They steal the post and won't give out the contact number of the undelivered parcel centre in Northern Ireland . And then sell all undelivered parcels at auction making millions ! A con outfit and they wonder why people use other delivery services !”
“My g/f is still waiting for her valentine flowers arrived tracked at Shrewsbury sorting office at 5am on Saturday Morning to supposed to be delivered on Saturday.
Now 1 .30pm Monday no flowers.
The moment is ruined i live 300 miles away and havent seen her for 6 months.
The surprise of her getting them is lost as have been contacting her to ask if she recieved them.
Im sure the royal mails wives had lovely flowers on valentines day while i have been made to look a fool
