“I use eye contact lenses from this store in Angel and I pay £43 per month. Last week, one of the contact lenses became stuck inside my right eye and I was unable to take it out so much that I couldn’t sleep that night. The following morning, I went to spec savers to tell them and for them to take a look at my eye. The front of house staff were trying to be helpful but management refused to provide any help/guidance and said that I needed to book an appointment and pay £25. It’s a real shame that a professional eye company like this wouldn’t be able to provide some help without a fee.”
“70 pound and it's 2 for 1 but then wanted me to pay for the lens then was told not allowed second pair for free went from 70 pound to 200 pound will not go Specsavers ever again”
“Had a contact lens check and reading glasses to collect. Glasses were wrong so, without any prompting, they waived the fee for the check up. The perfect response.
Their staff are always professional and friendly, and this is consistent for stores in Coventry and Didcot I have visited recently. Excellent Company, well done!!”
“I went into the hull city centre store today to wait for my husband to have his eye test i was met by a lovely young man Alex i told him i would never go to the store again after what happend last november Alex was very kind and he said he would do his best to sort my problem true to his word he did sort the problem so a big thank you Alex you are a credit to specsavers and your parants you will go far in your life you have fantastic customer care, because of Alex i will go back to this store when i need new glasses thank you again you made an old lady very happy and have faith in our young people Alex should be given an award for doing more than his job”
“I am very disappointed with Specsavers to say the least! I've tried to get a hearing test at least 5 times, each time being unsuccessful because the excuse was an audiologist wasn't available! What's the point in offering the free service! 😡I will NOT being recommending Specsavers to anyone 😤 Complete shambles 😤”
“After a delightful optition analysis completed. I was sat with a rep Mrs Sonia Palmer. From the onset after explaining my need to reglaze my existing frames only. I was ridiculed and spoken in a condescending manner. In an attempt to embarrass a customer into buying new frames.
Comments stated but a few, "I see your from Birmingham, why have you come here? Condersendingly. This lady began critiquing the state of the frames and stated the "lens technician" may refuse to fit them. I asked for clarity and certainty of such a decision of a technician a over specsavers. I completed a "Repair and Reglaze" form. Noting condition.
Just before signing form Mrs Parmer added text to the form. At this point I was concerned the contents of the form may alter after signing. A copy was taken. The order was placed and paid in full. The collection date was 2 days after order Fri 3rd May.
I called again to see if they are ready as ordered, to be told "it's going to be next Fri ". A week later!
I spoke to "Mr Chi" Manager, who came back with many reasons why they we're not ready as ordered.
The fact that I was never called to advised on a change of order, is bad, but to be fobbed off is another.
I have asked the manager to see why such a simple order is now so badly delivered.”
“Livingston customer service is socking!!, unprofessional and extremely rude is in understatement!!! All because I booked an appointment online outwith my normal check-up….. never be back in their store !”
“Went to order varifocals was charged a price which wasn't on the prive list they had given me, to be told after emailing a different shop that all the prices had gone up a couple of months ago. Was also charged for the highest price ones and was given no choice of others. How can you tell if the lower price ones aren't suitable if not given the option to try them.”
“I called twice for assistance the call was not answered the message stated we have got your number someone will call you back, twice and i got no call back at all with all the advertised technology you would think that they could at least answer a phone,i will take my business elsewhere”
“I am a bolton customer.I had to visit leigh shop this year due ill heath. I was refered to hospital CATERACT.On enquiring when I would be called l was told at least 12 moths. Optision classed me as NON URGENT”
“Blind in one eye because I wasn't sent to eye clinic when I first had wet macular 2 years ago. It wasn't till I had the symptoms 2 years later that they managed to get me an appointment. Too late the eye was damaged. Warning if you have wet macular get an eye clinic appointment immediately it could save your eyes.”
“Picked up my glasses from store today, The lenses gave me blurred and double vision. I couldn’t read as well as I can with my old glasses! The member of staff didn’t seem to care, ignored my concerns and asked me if they fitted ok! No-one apologised. I did worry after my eye test was performed by an unregistered optician and new glasses fitted by an employee that had to constantly ask other colleagues for advice and help ?trainee?) I have had glasses from Specsavers for many years, I won’t be going back.”
“Where do you start? Noone know what they are doing in any of these stores anymore? Been a customer for ten years or more, then on my last visit, was told that because i didnt pay for the oct scan i was not getting a photo of my eye like normal where you see your eye on that big screen. Then i was told i had to pay for my eyetes because there was no change in my prescription but i was told i was not seeing well because of my cataracts but how would i have known that? I then paid for varifocals at £200 odd pounds to not see any better, they fitted so badly my ears were bleeding, i was then told well your not gonna see that wel out if them if youve got cataracts? My eyetest lasted all of about 8mins, the only person who seemed to have a clue what was going on was the opthamologist? The guy who did the eyetest and the qualfied optician who refunded me for the glasses he claimed i never needed in the first place? What a complete waste of my time? Never going back”
“I attended the Ilkeston branch for an eye test on 19th April 2024, Daisy the optical assistant was so helpful, professional and very patient with me helping me to choose the right pair of glasses for my needs. She explained everything to me all throughout and was very thorough! 1st class service …Daisy will go far! I can’t recommend enough! Thank you for all of your help and professionalism!”
“Don't go to Edmonton spec savers -Bad customer service. Incompetent staff who don't seem to know what they are doing. Cant tell me what went wrong with my order despite making a payment and they don't seem to care.”
“I am diabetic and have been having pain behind the eyes and wanted an eye test . I am entitled to a yearly eye test free (I’m over 69) I booked a test with no problem but on the day I was told that if my prescription hasn’t changed I would be charged. The manager told me it would down to the optician if I should have a test using my 13 month old test as a reference whether I would need another test (I’ve heard nothing ). I know doesn’t make sense does it ? . If the optician hasn’t seen me how would he know . I felt quite humiliated in front of waiting customers and while I could well afford it I opted to walk . I said thank you and left. On reflection I felt a little cheated as I have gone no where else for over ten years and have spent a lot of money with them . They have always had a problem with the lenses fitting into the frames on my past new spectacles and even after correction they never get it right . I persevered with what I was given . The two pairs I have now have lenses that are not seated correctly. Enough .”
“Ordered the red glasses , I went to collect my glasses , they are different told me they are the same glasses , they are a different colour , they are giving false advertising, went back up again they said the same thing , they are not the same as you will see in the photo.”
“Just visited the Arbroath store to purchase contact lenses. I was met with a female member of staff (not too friendly & quite animated) who advised I’ll need to check your details to see if they have expired. “How long do I have until my test has expired” staff replied 12 months. Records show I was tested September 2023 and then advised I had a lense trial & this has not been finalised. I was then informed that I was unable to purchase or trial further lenses until I book another eye test & then place an order for the trial / new lenses (although my previous test had not expired)
I then asked for a copy of my prescription because I heard enough excuses but was then told they can’t provide me with that because it’s incomplete. Was does my prescription have to do with a contact lenses trial??!!
My family nor I will never return to Specsavers, Arbroath. Rude & very unhelpful”
“Been going to Specsavers since in my teen and was happy until lately .They move all the old staff to other branches .Now you have new staff that hardly know what the other one is doing .No messages or information left for other staff to check collection , or telephone conversation with customers for collections. Politeness is no longer in specsavers a few will say good morning. I was asked to try my glasses that i came to collect standing at the desk . When i asked where is the mirror we don't have one .I then advised the staff that they have cubical that you sit to try glasses on so he can see if it needed adjustment or fits fine. He then realise what i was saying so he then find a desk although their were about four empty desk available.Bring back some of the old staff to show these staff how it should be done. The eye test by the opticians i cant say a bad word they are good at there jobs. But staff need lot more training. When i leave that day i start thinking should i change. Phidd”
