“Mother inlaw 96 been going to Specsavers for many years for eye's and hearing. She is now in a care home. So We contacted Specsavers for home visit. Very difficult to make appointment saying they were busy we will call you back. This happened 3 times with no call back for an appointment. Decided to say goodbye to Specsavers for good and go elsewhere which we have done. Don't waste your time with this lot for home visit.”
“Wellington Telford store - told me my eyes had really depreciated badly since visit one year prior - and sold me 3 pairs of glasses accordingly. Went back as I felt they were far too strong - was told to use them for an hour a day for couple of weeks and get used to them. I suffered from headaches, dizziness and sickness after forcing myself to follow their instructions and eventually my doctor sent me for a brain scan - ended up having two as symptoms persisted (both clear). Went to another optitions in Oakengates who discovered I had been wearing glasses way too strong for my eyes - no wonder I was ill. Specsavers are wriggling and indicating my eyes might have improved since my visit to them - miracle? I don't think so, they just will not apologise and offer refund so I am seeing solicitor as I am angry they get away with this (having read these posts) over and over again. It is about time they were CQC regulated. I have not left a name other than JenS as I will be taking them to court and I do not want to gie them anything to moan about.
Will update you all very publicly when I win. Again not had refund but going to court and fully anticipating one.”
“I have been a Specsavers' s customer for 10 years, and unfortunately I have to say " be careful when you go there" . I don't trust their optometrists anymore. I had my eye test in January, I was given new prescription and new glasses. But I could not see clear with my glasses- I felt that I was wearing someone elses's glasses.Went back and I was told to keep wearing them because it's just an eye- adaptation period. Wore them one more week- no change. Went back again, they did minor changes of the frame ( more curved)- still the same vision. They booked me with a specialist. So, I came back the third time, and the specialist booked me for the second eye test. I visited the forth time Specsavers, I took the second eye test ( in February)and the result was: yes, the first eye test was wrong and my new prescription is more near to the old one. They said they would order new lenses for me ( I had the varifocal ones- paid in total £338)
I am quite an organised person and I keep everything filed. Went home and compared the new prescription with the old one given in 2018. Surprise! There both were exactly the same. No changes.
1. They prescribed a wrong prescription
2.They kept quite and fail to tell me that I did not need new glasses.
Is that ethical?
And I compared the prescription from 2014 with that in 2016. Only 0.25 change -which is unsignificant and usually there is no need to change glasses. But they do, they prescribe new prescription for you almost every two years so you will be their customer for ever.
Watch out! Now I understand why they are so busy.
Eventually, they rambursed the money and I cancelled the glasses but it's not about money, it's about my time, my trust and my safety.”
“Collection for 11:15.Cant find my glasses.Told to wait.Several disgruntled customers at the collection desk .👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽.Better off somewhere else next time .”
“My appointment for an eye test was on the 14/2/20 at 2.30pm at White Lion Street,Norwich.,an opticians I have used for the last 10 years.
After the first 5 minutes the optometrist put his hand to his mouth and sneezed over it and me he then continued with my eye test without washing his hands or blowing his nose.
In very close proximity he continued to sniff very loudly frequently putting his hand up to his face whilst still carrying out my test!!
As a client I found the sound of snott rattling around the room repulsive. As a qualified nurse his hygiene habits were disgusting.
The refurbished shop is very nice but give me the old shop and standards ever time.
Needless to say all Specsavers are off my list.
NEVER AGAIN !!”
“To the Board oF Directors,
Dear Sir,
This concerns your recruitment at Epsom Department. I have a customer there and I have noticed that they only have one type of Ethnicity in the customer service role. My wife applied many times and never been contacted. She applied for a role recently and the person there said they have already interviewed someone, and the advert was only 2 days. My wife is an experienced person which amazing qualities in Administration and she worked for specsaver Kingston when she was younger. Why not giving a chance to different ethenicity. Thats how you call equality and diversity?? All your customers, are they from only one ethnicity?? Look into your recruitment system please and change these mentalities.
Kind regards,”
“Called in at the Buxton store today to ask if they could fit my glasses properly after the fit I was left with was painful to wear. (Bought else where and after five return visits they still hadn't managed to fit my glasses correctly.)
Absolutely lovely response from specs savers staff, were completely happy to help.... Won't be returning to vision express despite their option to pay by monthly installments (which was the incentive to use them in the first place.) Staff appear to be trained at VE to ensure the initial sale but there after are both unable and not particularly interested in repairing any corrections needed. 'Well done on customer service 'specs savers!'”
“Visited the caterham store and I can honestly say the experience was 10 out of 10. It was my first time having my eyes tested in over 20 years and all the staff that served me were professional and extremely helpful.”
“Fantastic customer service in the Ilford branch - although it is very busy at times - some of the senior staff working there are great. Naz who does the first part of the test is a right character- funny - cheers you up - so you don’t mind slight delays. I’ve been going for years would recommend this store to anyone. Avoid school holidays gets too busy.”
“First appointment was cancelled due to illness of one of the opticians, and apparently was ill again on day of my husbands test. The optician who can to the house did not introduce himself/or give us a business card. He was very short with my husband, definitely didn’t have the manner for vulnerable people. I felt it was a poor testing method. The amount paid was too expensive (to late to do anything about that by the end). Time to receive new glasses...25 days is just ridiculous. My husband had had a fall and broke his glasses so was hoping he would get new ones quickly...that is not going to happen !! Definitely wouldn’t recommend Specsavers or this method of testing.”
“I was given the wrong prescription - which was actually another customers. Then when I complained, the franchise I was complaining about got the email forwarded to them. Absolutely diabolical business management.”
“So disappointed with there services, I ask an inquiry if how much the price to buy this item and then when you finalized to buy the item the price amount would change. because she said the other staff was confused about the prices which are the very unprofessional staff. I would never go back to this company.”
“I went for my first eye test in 20 years at Specsavers, Brixton, and then was lucky to have the lovely Yasmeen to help me choose my frames.
Yasmeen was very professional, kind and helpful, and made sure that everything ran smoothly with my first pair of glasses.
A big thank you to Yasmeen and all the team at Specsavers, Brixton.”
“I’ve just used Specsavers home eye test for the 2nd time and found it to be an excellent service. The two people who came were friendly but professional and explained what was going on. I received my new glasses within the week. We find it so easy to complain nowadays so it’s good to report excellent customer service”
“I am very pleased and in fact overwhelmed by the service I received from Kirsty Ginger (Audiology Practitioner) at your Christchurch Branch. She is an employee in a million, who went over and above 'the call of duty' to provide an excellent service to me last week. Not only was she sympathetic and empathic towards me, she clearly understood my frustrations at my GP surgery! Having confirmed that there was damage to my eardrum, she also sensitively informed me that there was further damage in my inner ear. She then offered me a further appointment later in the week to take a photo of my eardrum so I had evidence for my GP who was unable to see the damage herself. She worked during her lunch break and after work to ensure that I had the printed information I needed to present to my GP the following day. In all she was kind and caring. Thank you Kirsty!”
“I was delighted when specsavers employee “ Peter Ireland” from Cambridge Fitzroy Street Branch helped with my lenses reconfiguration/adjustment/modification/ to my recent variofocals prescription. I therefore wish to leave *****5 star feedback on the help I received from him. I can only recommend Peter in the Very highest regard as a true professional.

“If you need your glasses fixed and someone says you have to get new ones - ask for Jehvornie. I had such a pleasant experience today when he fixed my glasses right up.
Full story:
I came into the store in Brixton a week ago, after having sat on my glasses a few months earlier, and finally decided I'd like them fixed. A partner tried to fix them and told me they could reuse the lenses and I'd get new frames for half the price. I decided that they were still in an all right shape, but when I got home they fell to pieces! Can't help feeling that partner just made the screws looser. I fixed them cheap Harry Potter style with a bit of tape and after feeling cheap for about a week, decided that I'd just fork up the cash. In comes Jehvornie, showing ambition and love to the universe and a fellow human being, and fixed them right up. THANKS, brother.”
“Applaling Service Appallin manager attitude of Amy . 5 Visits to sort some reading glasses which each time left to wait over 1 hour kept getting some fob off go home your eyes get used to the lenses refused refund or partial refund for al lthe time I have taked from work no one kinows what they are doing in this store Appalling Appalling service you deffinatley lean a lesson going in hers which is Avoid ............. untrained staf fthat panic when you try and get glasses sorted total joke”
“OK, theyre busy, leave untrained staff to do as much as poss...but we made appt for checkups (which we get free on NHS). Rang me day before to inform me I'm down for an extended eye check (I have no eye conditions beyond myopia.) Sounded great...till further questions reveal theyre intending to screw £10 out of each of us for privilege. Cancelled & went elsewhere, where we were told it's completely unnecessary as standard NHS test covers everything anyway! Also pleasantly surprised that while Specsavers dont re-glaze old glasses (desperate to sell new ones & screw yet more out of you) my other optician were FINE with doing that, if frames in good condition! Never intend to return to Specsavers. Kind of the McDonalds of opticians (no, that's unfair, McDonalds arent greedy & scamming!)”
