“DO NOT USE! Rip off merchants. May look cheapest when booking but try every trick to charge you extra at the end. We found additional damage not recorded when we picked it up (fallen for that one before) so they then charged us 85 euros after we got home because there was a very small salt “stain” on the driver seat, something that would have wiped off in 5 seconds. Still fighting for a refund.”
“Shockingly hard sales of insurance alongside the car rental. We had an incredibly greedy and aggressive female vampire trying to bleed more money from us for car insurance, despite us already having brought our own. She wasn’t having it- was determined to sell us more at the eye watering and laughable price of 90 euros per day. 40 mins later and she was still in full tirade and getting ruder by the minute! She then tried to put the fear of God into us- watch out for car thieves in Padua, vandals in Venice. We escaped without giving them a penny more, although the tank given to us full. We gave the car back without a scratch ends full tank- and they still demanded a 25 euro cleaning fee. They went around the car with a microscope- the car needed a 30 second vacuum, that was it! Avoid Venice Sur Price like the plague- the worst in car rentals we’ve ever experienced in 30 years!”
“The SurPrice rental company refused to give me a car because I did not have physical copy of the International Driving Permit (further referred as IDP)
However I did have IDP in PDF format issued by International Transportation Authority of Italy, All rental companies in Italy accept it before accept SurPrice rental,
There is no clear rules written in Expedia nor on SurPrice website stating that IDP is only accepted in Physical form and no Online PDF form, hence I had no way of knowing this requirement. The Manager just made up that requirement! When I asked to show me this rule written in a company policy handbook, the manager of the rental shop could not find it either yet they refused to issue the car to me.
I also would like to note that the employee who proceeded my paper work offered me to buy their insurance at $100/day, so they can close their eyes on the fact that I do not have physical IDP with me. This was outrages offer which I rejected
SurPrice rental car is a bogus company that makes money on selling their overpriced insurance to customers by finding little hiccups in their reservation that otherwise will prevent the renting of the car. Being desperate in needing a car, unfortunately, many visitors fall for this trick. Just read their Google review and it will make all sense.
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM they are complete SCAM! go with trusted brands even if it cost a bit more. Save yourself a trouble!”
“DONT USE THIS COMPANY
If there was a zero l would have given that. Worse car hire company l have used in 42 years of hiring cars. Hired them through Booking.com who should know better.
They are not on the Heathrow perimeter road, but 10km from T5 20mins away. Multiple serious issues with this company 1) l missed my return flight as it took them 1.5hrs to process my clean car return. Will cost me a fortune in rebooking flights, lost flight, taxis etc.
2) Minibus is infrequent 45-60 min wait.
3) Like many other reviews and other customers there today, l found out later that they scammed me for an additional £400 for using a debit card (although l had a credit card on my phone) saying it was insurance, although l already had private car hire insurance.
Other customers today were saying they had same problem, and if they did not provide what Surprice wanted. They would not release the car and you would loose what they had already paid.
4) The mini bus collection was free but they charged £10 to drop you back at the terminal, not mentioned.
5) On arrival at T5 to collect the car they said they did not have minibus available, and they told me to take a public bus to T4 and get a Minibus from there. It all from first calling them it took me 2.75hrs to get a car.
6) Don’t believe what type of cars they advertise, they will give you a basic Kia, not full with petrol.
This company should not be allowed to trade, their practices if not illegal are misleading and very dubious, please don’t be scammed, use a quality car hire company. So many unhappy people at the car pick up and return, please make sure you are not one of them.

“I wish I could give it a no star. This rental company is misleading, dishonest and rude. I booked a car through Travelocity. I was to pick the car up at Milan Malpensa airport. After waiting an hour the the van to pick up and after having called the rental office about the pickup, I finally got to the rental office. When I arrived, there were already a couple there yelling about the people behind the counter. They are also not happy. The rental agent was, in return, extremely rude to the customers. When I got to the counter to speak to an agent, I realized why people were so mad. The agent wants to charge my an additional $400 euro in addition to the amount I already paid. This amount was for their road side assistance. They would not rent me the car unless I paid it and they would not accept my credit card's insurance. I ended up walking away, and lost $118. The kicker was that when I tried to get my refund from Travelocity, the Travelocity agent said that the rental office said I was a no show, when I clearly talked to an agent. They blatantly lied about that.
This rental company is very dishonest, lied about events, and extremely rude. Please avoid at all cost.”
“It's the worst company possible.
The cars were clearly overdue for maintenance (full of problems with the panels), poorly trained staff, they don't answer the phone, they don't respond to emails.
I haven't received my deposit refund for 2 months now, and I haven't heard back!!
Avoid this headache”
“The worst customer service I've ever had rude unprofessional and condescending.
Toronto Pearson Airport Sur Price I have used these several times and been happy with the service but this time June 28th 2024 was the worst experience I've ever had.
The conman that dealt with me was rude unprofessional and shouldn't be in customer service.
He asked if I was crossing the border to which I replied no as he asked me that question I wanted to clarify if crossing into Quebec had a charge he said no then immediately put our 4000 kms allowance down to 1600 I said why have you done this his reply was because your going into Quebec I said I never said I was going into Quebec I asked if we did was there a charge as I didn't want to occur anymore extras.
So I told him ok we,are staying in Ontario he refused to put the mileage back to 4000 kms saying we have shown intent I said your cars have trackers so you will know if we do but I can assure you we,are not made no difference if it hadn't been for the 2 hour flight delay and so late I would have walked .
This ruined my family's trip as we had to park the car up for 3 days owing to the mileage.
KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.”
“Avoid using this company. A scam provider going by more than one name 1. AutoOne and 2. Surprise, were the names we were given.
We returned the car in exactly the same condition we received it in (It had one noticeable dent which was on the pre hire report) and many minor scuffs and marks. This made us feel confident however we still took photos of a few of the marks we could see prior to driving away ( made difficult by the car being parked closely to cars on each side). Also it had been raining the morning we picked the car up so it had the obvious rain marks.
They insist on payment of the excess deposit up front which was actually taken rather than on hold.
We returned the car in exactly the same condition we received it after a 5 day rental. We washed the car the day before returning it but it rained during the night so again it had some rain marks, but was not dirty.
Upon return they claimed that all the little scuffs etc were attained during the rental, I denied the accusations as we were parked on private property behind locked gates for the 5 days near Marostica.
They refused to refund the €900 deposit and somehow took another €22 for washing of the car even though I didn’t authorise the credit card deduction.
They refuse to respond to my various requests and emails.
They are THIEVES and promoted by DoYouItaly. Avoid both.P”
“This company never again, I often use the services of rental car agencies, this is a complete deception, the price that is paid when booking is doubled, due to insurance, additionally if you arrive after 22:00, you have to pay 40 euros for night pick-up and also leaving it at the airport. plus that insurance, even though it's too expensive, doesn't cover anything except metal parts, i.e. tires, glass, rearview mirrors, headlights, brake lights, any other additional 120 euros, avoid this company in general.”
“O rented a car from Bucharest , with deposit of 1200 euro , when I brought the car back they invented a scratch witch can’t be seen with naked eye , they zoom it 5x to see a small mark , and they see I have to pay 400 euro , I have took all legal action against them and put them on all social media where there is over 100k in views ! Avoid !!!”
“Been hiring cars from more than 40 countries around the world. I can ABSOLUTELY say that from all of my experiences, SURPRICE ALBANIA has the worst trust issue. To the point that I felt they are almost a scammer.
In short, the vehicle was not properly check before letting and when the problems occurred, they forced me to pay for their mistake. Despite that, I was the first one to contact their staff, and received a message 'do not worry, we will not charged you'.
The staff later twisted their word, lied, to get away from it. Without letting me talk to their management, they forced me to pay for their team's mistake. Saying, 'IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY THAT I DID NOT CHECK THE CAR PROPERLY WHEN I TOOK IT.'
That was the worst response ever, customer trusted the staff to properly check their vehicle. Not us!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO HIRE FROM THIS COMPANY.”
“Surprice Skopje Northmacedonia. Scammer Company. Do not use Surprice. Surprice charged me the full amount again on site and had to pay in cash. The employee insisted on cash payment and did not want to accept a credit card. The credit that I paid online was not credited to me on site. I also received an old VW Polo with 300 000km. The engine light and service light were on. The rear brake lights did not work. the tires were all worn out. The condition of the vehicle was miserable and smelled extremely bad. The employee at was very unfriendly. I also stated in my booking that I was traveling from Skopje to Ohrid 172km at night. The vehicle was given to me with an empty tank. I am very disappointed with the service. I have previously booked with Enterprise in Macedonia and the service was excellent. With Surprice it was a complete disaster.”
“Charged me €376.42 for the tiniest of dents, which was soo small it was missed 3 times as they circled the car inspecting it, Avoid as they are SCAMMERS, read the trust pilot reviews....88% gave a rating if 1”
“Surprice Heathrow
Surely after reading all the reviews on here and other review sites there is clearly a systematic fraudulent approach being applied by Surprice to rip off customers. The similarities on refusing credit cards or not recognising pre-purchased insurances (Rental Cars in my case) dubious damage reports should be investigated by the relevant local authorities or industry regulator.
Would be great to be able to collate all these complaints in one central location, to pursue a class action against this terrible company
Do not use Surprice - fraudulent scammers....”
