Taking the money for a holiday I can't go on, customer services are incredibly evasive, strikes me as a firm about to go into administration. Avoid like a touch of the covids!

I paid over £1,000 for a week starting 18th April. I was told I couldn't have a refund and should rebook. From their calendar, the next available week is Jan 2022!! That's no good!! How do they justify keeping my money for 21 months? Outrageous and immoral!!

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Still not had a phone call from Sykes- yet I contacted them a fortnight ago. Holiday due beginning of March - clearly not going to happen but helped themselves to to remaining balance. Even sent me an email on where and when to get the cottage key! . Disgusting!

No refunds even in a national crisis Booked a holiday to depart 28/3/20. 23/3/20 government locks down country due to COVID-19. All holiday accommodation ordered to shut down. Full refund no brainier right? Wrong not in the Sykes world. In the Sykes world it’s all my fault because I can’t travel. Want to speak to someone about it? like to see you try, they have closed all the phone lines! This position is nothing short of dangerous since it is inciting people to travel against advice to avoid losing cash. The right thing to do is refund. Most other companies are stepping up, even going the extra mile helping out but not Sykes. Will never deal with these cowboys again. Do yourself a favour stay away.

We had a house booked for a hen party in May and due to coronavirus we had to cancel. The fines back on the the customer for having to cancel through no fault of our own is disgusting. This is a completely heartless company and the owners should be ashamed of themselves profiting from this. I will never book a holiday through Sykes again. Anyone thinking of booking with this company should be aware of what shocking and impersonal customer service they provided.

My booking was made before the 17 March Coronavirus national lock-down. Cottage booked for mid May, 7 weeks away from today - yet in 3 days time Skyes want the remaining balance which will be taken automatically from my account. To save further loss of money I cancelled the booking - loosing my deposit. The fact that Skyes are withholding money for Goods & Services which they simply cannot provide due to the National lock-down is both criminal and immoral. Therefore decided to file a claim for my deposit through the Small Claims Court on the grounds of a 'Frustrated Contract'. To be honest I'd rather these sharks went out of business with the loss of all their jobs than go through the Courts - let's hope. I contacted the HMRC to deny them any application for Government Coronavirus grants or funding, since they are sourcing their revenue and income from withheld refunds. I've also given Simon Calder and thier Local & Nation Press the links to these Trust Pilot reviews and Skye FaceBook page which are both overwhelmed with negative comments and reviews and ALL sharing the same subject of refunds. THESE POEPLE ARE TAKING £100's of THOUSANDS OF CUSOMER'S MONEY WITHOUT DELIVERING A THING!

This company is disgusting, it is making money from customers unable to go on holiday due to the corona virus pandemic by cancelling their holidays and not refunding them .

Appalling customer service. Despite the coronavirus pandemic they refused any type of refund, not a penny was offered. Instead they asked us to advise of a possible future travel date so they could check availability. As if I could predict the scope and duration of the pandemic! They would not offer partial refund or voucher to be applied to future travel and just stopped responding to messages - all of which were polite and understanding of their loss of income. I was forced to go to Airbnb direct to claim the refund but a fortnight of messages and stress caused by Sykes Cottages got me exactly nowhere. Steer well clear of this company.

I and my husband are due to go to Somerset on June 5th,one day outside the window.I wish to now take stock,re evaluate and cancel. But the snotty email that you sent tells me that I can cancel or amend through the usual channels. Not good enough. With the current travel restrictions in place, that look set to be extended, what are you planning to do about it?It's shambolic,I will NEVER book through you again.

Had a holiday booked for 1/5 which was obviously cancelled by Sykes due to coronavirus outbreak. In law the contract should be void and a refund should be forthcoming either from the cottage owned or Sykes acting as the owners agent. Have tried but am unable to contact Sykes who nevertheless continue to trade no doubt encouraged by the relaxation of the wrongful trading provision. Hopefully a class action will be commenced against Sykes if no refunds are forthcoming.

This is a company that is profiteering from the current circumstances. Discounted properties are on offer - from those that have cancelled = double profit. I find it exceedingly suspicious that there are a number of people currently providing positive reviews for Sykes Cottages when the country is in lockdown - fake reviews? If you read the numerous online reviews (including on social media), you will see that numerous customers have been refused refunds, including NHS staff and others serving our nation. Owners have returned money to Sykes to refund to customers, only to discover that Sykes have not passed the money onto customers. Booking.com is associated with this company and are unable to provide any resolution. They provide a high rating for these properties - again, where do these reviews come from? On Sykes website, there are only positive reviews... again, selective reporting? I personally, along with numerous others will not be using this company/ Booking.com again and encourage others to do the same.

Had a family holiday booked for early May, needed to cancel because of government advice on coronavirus (party included over 70's, a teenager with asthma, another with a weakened immune system). Tried numerous times on the phone to contact customer services, without success, sent an email (no reply) all before the final balance was due. Got to the day before the final balance was going to be taken automatically, still unable to contact so had no choice but to cancel online (rather than pay full amount) cancellation fee (full deposit) was automatically taken from card. There was an option to amend dates in the future but who knows what the future holds, any chosen cottages may be taken off the market & it wouldn't surprise me if Sykes didn't go into administration and do a runner sometime soon. Have since had an email inviting me to spread the cost of the already cancelled holiday!!!! Tried to contact them again - they seem to have removed all contact phone nos & methods of emailing. Totally agree with recent reviews, they are robbing .........., not concerned with anything other than taking your money. Can't believe that cottage / holiday home owners still want to deal with this company, you'll all get dragged down with Sykes if they continue to serve customers this way. DO NOT USE THEM.
