This is real review. The 2 right Side tires had 2" chunks of the sidewall missing and damage to the rim. Owner said it was safe to drive I took it to a tire place and they said don't drive it is too dangerous the owner gave me a hard time and Turo also made it difficult for me to get my money back and did not treat me as though I was telling the truth how outrageous. This is a buyer beware company and you are on your own.

THE WORST COMPANY TO RENT FROM!! The banned my account for a smoking violation that was never even violated! I went on a trip with my 6 month old and when I returned the car they tried ti say I violated a smoking policy based off the picture of my daughters rice cereal that was spilt on the floor. RICE CEREAL! And they are so money hungry that after I’ve even talked to them and told them the facts they still wouldn’t change their mind. Literally the worst to rent from. They will ban you for no reason. Tell me who is gonna smoke when I don’t? Damn sure not my 6 month old!!

Bad bad bad I booked a car with them They charged me around 1000gbp then cancelled my trip ( some excuse from the host that they cannot accept international driver’s license Customer service is on email so very frustrating And the people they have got are incompetent It’s been 15 days since they have scammed me for my money and there is no sign of a refund This experience was so bad that I had to cancel and rebook with Avis spending another 1500$ So steer clear of these guys

Horrible awful,worst trip of my life. The was ignorant. I ended up stranded due to my turo rental, slept outside in the cold for 2 nights,was in dangerous situations and no one cared at all. I called turo over an over to get help. I even had a mechanic call them. He told them the fiat was not safe for me to drive. We still got no help. Turo customer service are foreign and act like robots with no emotion. That's exactly why they act like they do not care what is going on with your car

Turo is a company that doesn't respond in a timely fashion. The customer service is terrible. When a person has been falsely charged or have had a host that has been unprofessional and very malicious to the point of planting false evidence to gain money because a guest reported the car wasn't clean or as the picture in listing. Turo will restrict the Guest that is spending money without property contacting them. They will not respond to you and will have the "Live chat" that is ineffective and reading a script giving false apologies that Don't solve the problem. If you provide documentation proving your case they still will not do anything. They will even charge you without knowledge or properly investigating. This platform disappointed me and they just want Money. If it was TRULY about helping and making ride sharing easier. They would invest more in customer service and handle cases quickly and properly. Just want you money beware you could get a Host from hell tell turo and they will do nothing!

I used Turo once and I never will again. I was looking at rental cars vs. Turo, and the rental cars were just slightly more expensive (by about $25) so I decided to try Turo. I went on a road trip, and it turned out that one tire had previously been worn down to a point there was no tread left, and it was leaking air. So I then had to spend half a day of my trip at the mechanic shop getting the tire replaced. The car owner paid me back for that cost, it was their suggestion to use Paypal, which I had not realized was against Turo policy. I would have let it go, but then when I returned the car, the owner messaged me trying to accuse me of causing various damages to the car that had already been there. Thankfully, I had pictures to prove they had already been there, but if I hadn't I'm sure they'd have tried to charge me. I sent the owner money to cover tolls through Cashapp (also at their request). Two months later, I get billed for the full cost of the tolls through the Turo app. When I went to their customer service and sent evidence of the issues with the car and the fact that I had already paid the tolls, they said since it was sent outside of the app it did not matter and I'd be billed for it. Not only that, but my account was now going to be monitored to ensure I did not send other transactions outside of the app (with no recognition of the fact that the car owner is the one who suggested doing so). I highly recommend going with a car rental company instead, it would have saved me significant time and this entire customer service nightmare.

It’s a scam. SCAM SCAM They don’t vet their hosts. I have been accused of smoking with pictures taken of ashes in the car. I don’t smoke. I have been terminated from Turo therefore I can’t retrieve any of my pictures or correspondence with the host. I sent in the pictures that I took before I dropped it off of a clean car. They took my money and I can’t get in touch with anyone. If it were a fender bender I was accused of with a scratch or dent I could possibly go along with it, however it’s smoking and I was the only one in the car and don’t smoke. The fact the host turned in pictures of an ash filled cup holder and console is suspicious and reeks of a scam. Please protect yourself and don’t use this company.

Rented a Tesla from Turo ... car appeared nice but the pick up was so hectic that I couldn't take photos. The car is a 2018 and I found that I was constantly having to charge it. Literally go 85 miles and spend an hour charging. Gas is cheaper and quicker. Getting ready to return the car I stop and charge to 90% ... drive the 40 miles to the airport and the charge is not 63%. Host hits me $$ for the low charge. In talking to Tesla, they inform me that an older Tesla like this 2018 will have battery degradation and the charge won't last. I feel like getting charged for an issue with the car is ridiculous. But the best is yet to come ... When I picked the car up, at the airport night before Thanksgiving, things were crazy chaotic and I could not take photos. Of course I promptly forget about this step in the excitement of seeing my husband after so many months apart. I return the car and walk around it with the host. We're both taking photos. We part ways and hours later he informs me that he's getting an estimate to fix the tire rub on the back passenger side. I'm like what? I didn't hit anything so this makes no sense. I'm comparing his before and after photos and the before have a ton of scarred-up marks on the wheel in question. Even more interesting is that it's difficult to tall which tire is which in his original images and the tire for the back passenger side appears to be a completely different tire. The Tesla icon placement in relation to the valve stem don't match up. So now I'm waiting to hear from Turo because this seems seriously sketchy. I paid $630 to have this car for 4 days. The fees are high and the vehicle and aggravation are definitely not worth it. From now on I am sticking with Enterprise or Budget.

I rented a 2021 Nissan Altima, beautiful vehicle, clean inside and out. I was in a car accident and needed to rent until I was able to get another car. I was allowed many extensions. Turo is an excellent alternative to other car rentals that want to hold funds if you don't have a credit card. So, this was a great way to save money and no hassles!! If you rent, rent from Frank Esposito, Nissan NJ 33 in Hamilton. It's a great spot to pick up and drop off. !! Thanks!!

When Turo started it was a great idea and app. Independant people renting their private vehicle in much the same way that Air BnB host rent their homes. However, in the past two years Turo has become overrun with illegitimate rental car companies looking to get around the licensing and insurance requirements that a conventional car rental company would require. This has caused a wave of poor service, run down vehicles, and scammer characters looking to extort money any way possible. Beware of damage claims and the notorious smoking fee (which there is no way to dispute in Turo). In many ways this is the same progression that has occurred with Air BnB as the platform has switched from independent owners to now mostly small rental property businesses using Air BnB as a marketing tool. After having several shady encounters with 'Hosts' on Turo, I was about to deactivate my account but decided to give one more chance (which was a bad idea). On my last trip, I noticed a funny smell in the car as soon as I sat inside. However, since the host was 'out of town' and had to have their 'friend' leave the car unlocked in the parking lot, I could not express this to them in person. So instead I immediately wrote a message to the host stating that I noticed a smell in the vehicle before even leaving the parking lot. At the end of the trip the host again was not able to meet and had me leave the car unlocked in the parking garage. The next day I received a bill from Turo for a smoking fee. I am not a smoker, and have never smoked in any car, and have over 35+ turo trips with no issues. When I informed Turo of the original smell in the car and my message to the host, Turo did not care and dismissed my dispute without even looking into the communications. After trying on the website to reach a Turo customer service agent to talk to about the situation, I gave up and now going to delete my account forever. Considering the variability of hosts these days and the poor customer service from Turo, I would highly recommend you stay away from the company and the platform.

SEE PICTURES- They have companies that use their platform to rent cars. I picked up in parking lot at airport THT Houston (DONT USE) - walked around car and no damage. Dropped off same place- had no issues was short 24 hour trip. Took picks per instructions. Had no issues/incidents - then received bill for $1200. They sent pics that zoomed in on high resolution pictures maybe showed some “feather” scratched- see attached. I can Understand the company trying to scam me but spent hours finding a Turo rep and they agreed did not make sense and would have Turo review the claim again. A week later got email saying yes I owed - crazy. Never rent from Turo- can get $1200 bill even if no issues

Rented a car that broke down even though things didn’t seem right and the Host assured us what we experienced was normal behavior for the car. Turo basically told us to walk 14 miles to the nearest town when the car died in the desert. Then, they couldn’t find a replacement within hours of where we were. We incurred almost $400 in taxi fees getting to the replacement. THEN we were up charged $200 for an extended drop off fee. Now, due to a car we found through Turo, we are out almost $600 in additional fees and Turo customer service has ghosted us. Give yourself peace of mind, rent a car from a big chain…they may cost a little more but we’re now paying double what we would have AND lost an entire day of vacation being stranded.

Very disappointed in this service I tried as an alternative for the usual rental companies :( Upon arrival after a long day driving the car did not start as a result of a dead battery; In the end we found the battery had to be replaced by the dealer; As the owner was not reachable we decided to pay the bill as we had to continue our trip. In the end both the owner as well as Turo were not willing to cover that repair bill !! Besides these costs we lost a full day of our holiday not to mention the many phone call and frustration. We will never use this Turo service anymore;

DON’T USE TURO! We rented a Turo to go out to the middle of nowhere for a wedding. Driving 70mph down the highway the engine light came on and we couldn’t get past 1st gear. WE WERE ON THE WAY TO THE WEDDING!! We had to call an Uber and beg them to pick us up on the side of the road. WE WERE LATE AND MISSED PART OF THE CEREMONY!!!!! The Uber cost us 85 dollars and to get back to the hotel we had to get a ride from the photographer at the wedding. The hotel was over 2 hours away and our Uber back cost us 200 dollars. We have spent countless hours on the phone speaking with Turo representatives who have failed to recoup any of these costs associated with the engine failure are even threatening to charge US for towing the car. We had the car for 24 hours and the car had over 100,000 miles. There has been no acknowledgement of the extremely dangerous and inconvenient situation we were placed in. The host did nothing to help the situation and the towing companies called us four different times despite relaying the information to Turo. TURO IS ABSOLUTE A HORRIBLE COMPANY WITH NO QUALITY CONTROL! Your car could break down at any moment and TURO WILL DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ASSIST!! No replacement car, no covering of extremely expensive Uber rides. Just a huge headache and a huge cost! Go to a reputable rental car company NOT TURO!

We signed up for Turo to give it a try, our car recently broke down and we had an appointment we had to get to. We scheduled with host Lakia in De. With her Chevy Traverse. (horrible horrible host who lied and completely ruined everything) less than 2 hours before the car was scheduled to be delivered host claims cancelled claims she was out the country and "lost" her phone and somehow miraculously found it in time to cancel prior to scheduled delivery. At this point we have already paid fully for our rental. After being inconvenienced by this host, who was passively aggressive in her horrible service, we contact Turo, who turns around and says now we have to go through another verification. We were ALREADY SCHEDULED PAID FOR ABD BOOKED! After telling Turo at this point this is illegal and scammy they denied my husband who was already previously approved, said it was due to him having a criminal background!!! More lies from this company, He has never as so much got a parking ticket! He has no points on his DL, however this company lied scammed and did not return our money right away! How do you do a criminal background check on just name an DOB with a person with an extremely common name! After spending over 3 hours trying to get a rep on the line who knew what they were doing I had to get my lawyer involved! This company and their host are the worse! Do not I repeat do not waste your time or money, an if you do by all means avoid host Lakia in Delaware with the 2013 Chevy Traverse! Worse experience, the company and the host all lie!!! Could not provide any proof to this alleged criminal record or DL issues. Completely totally lies, instead of penalizing their lying unprofessional host they turn around and do the same thing! My lawyer is still involved.

As a Tesla Host Here is what happens; you can get $90 daily after Turo commotions. If the guest brings the car it is your ( hosts) responsibility to clean it Tesla can only have hand clean can’t go to drive through machine so it cost you $50 cleaning. While guest using if they charge supercharger it hours to car owner credit card you charge $36 for each time . When they return u can only create an invoice for supercharger but if they don’t pay Turo denies your invoice Even you send them bank statements . It happened to me multiple times as a host. Plus what happens if there is an accident if ur car stays in collusion centre 1 month or any time they do not cover ur lost of income or a car rental for use . While your car gains mileage 200 per day Turo makes money you pay out of your pocket .
