“I was disgusted when the cashier licked her finger to open a bag for the meat that I bought! Was bad enough before covid that cashiers use to do that! At this time when we all have to wear masks, wash or use gel every now and again to avoid passing of the virus from one person to another and here’s the cashier wearing shield without mask, licked her finger! I wanted to return the items that she touched but I didn’t want cause a scene so I just washed them soon as I got home. Disgusting!”
“since the onset of the virus , staff at asda skelton have become increasingly unhelpful and rude !! things barked at us like " you can't go down that aisle " and " wait there till I tell you come to a checkout " etc just got a tad too much and I left my trolley full of goods and left the store , went to aldi just opposite , didn't have to queue pleasant helpful staff , got everything I wanted and saved £20 on the shop !! surprised asda has any customers left , I certainly will never shop at asda again !!”
“You have no right to charge a customer £10.00 for a delivery because they have spent under £40.I live alone am disabled am unable to drive.Youre not a private company so you can’t take from customers to pay your staff. Also some of your customer services staff are rude and never seem to be able to help.Plesse reduce your increased charge threshold to £30”
“Disappointing and frustrating trip to Llandudno ASDA today. may I start by saying my husband works for ASDA at Rhyl so we are very aware of problems caused by the coronavirus. we just went in to buy a few bits we couldn't find at the Rhyl store. We took our place in the Checkout queue, standing the requisite 2-m from all other customers. We were third in a queue of 5. as the lady in front of me moved to the far end of the Checkout I started to put our shopping on the conveyor belt. the cashier asked me not to as she wanted the belt clear between customer's and so I stopped. my husband hadn't heard her and started to put the shopping on the counter. I asked him not to and took the shopping off so the belt was clear noticing all the other check outs had customers filling the conveyor belts with their shopping I queried why. she said it was to keep us all safe. I wondered why the other checkouts were not doing the same and she had no reply. the two people queing behind me also queried this and we agreed it seems strange this was the only checkout operating in this way. at all times my husband and I were keeping the requisite 2-m from all other customers. when I queried the Checkout girl again on why she was following this strange procedure when no others seemed to be she called her a supervisor. before we knew it we were surrounded by 6 members of staff all telling us that it is at the Checkout Girls discretion as to how she runs her check out. at this point I told one of the supervisors she was standing way too close to my husband, given the fact that we were all trying to stay 2 m apart following their procedures. Her reply was that my husband had moved closer to her which wasn't the case and we asked her to check her CTV to confirm this. But she had no intention of doing so. realising we were wasting our time and being put at risk by the very people tasked with ensuring our safety, all 8 of us now gathered around 1 checkout by this point, we decided just to continue and get out of the store to save people behind us waiting any longer but then the cashier who had caused all the problem refused to serve us so I left the goods on the Checkout belt and headed to customer service where I asked to speak to a manager. a young man quickly came down to see us but it was obvious to us that no further action or inquiry into this issue would be taken when he reiterated that is at the check out girls discretion as to how she runs her check out. I would reiterate here, again, that my husband and I are very aware of how to keep ourselves and others safe during the pandemic. we are well able to read and follow signs if there had been a sign on the Checkout that says do not place your products on the Checkout until the Checkout is clear we could have saved having this problem.
If there were a sign saying our cashiers make up the rules as they go along,we would have known what to expect.
At no point were we causing a danger to other customers or staff,
in fact the opposite is true we were surrounded by 6 members of staff, breaking their own 2metre social distancing rule, none of whom could be found anywhere when I was looking earlier to find where the eggs were!”
“Wondering why Asda's new "improved" soya milk recipe has reduced the actual soya content from 12% to 7%. Sort of surprised they are still allowed to call it soya milk with so little soya in it!”
“Bought 3 sets of towels and as alawys give them a good wash before use .. 5 washes later and no joy as they keep leaving skin covered in bits of material .. Worst ever”
“Had on line delivery on 13th august, not happy with 3 products, Jarlsberg cheese slices best before date 11th august 2020 delivered 13th august, organic potatoes best before date 13th august, 1 large potato going bad and 3 half green, don't like green potatoes, broccoli dated 14th, will not last over the weekend, the rest of my shopping was ok.”
“Bought 2 bags of Jam Doughnuts this morning with today’s date on. Looked forward to having one with our coffee when we got home. Apart from being on the small side, they were horribly dry and hard. Only place for them was the bin. Have given one star as there was jam in them. Sorry Asda won’t be wasting my money on them again. Unable to return them to the Trowbridge store.”
“In store at Abbey lane. Leicester today.
Couldn’t find what I was looking for. Spoke to an assistant called Annetta.. I was so impressed. She was so helpful and had sorted out my problem within seconds. She actually really appeared to be happy to help and it was a refreshing change these days. Future management material I’d say. I work in retail. I would employ her instantly.”
“So I went to Asda yesterday to do some shopping and I couldn't find any bags to put my fruit and vegetables in.
After asking a member of staff to get the bags I was approached by the manager who told me that they will no longer provide their customers with bags. Instead, I colud purchase one of their tiny, useless "reusable" bags for only 30 pence each. When I told her that I'm not willing to mix dirty potatoes with apples and lemons and I'm not willing to put a mesh bag with dirty vegetables inside my shopping bag she gave me quite a lot of attitude.
I left the store and drove to Tesco - did my shopping there. I didn't have to wash the dirt of my food, I didn't have to clean my shopping bag, because they provided me with bags I could put my vegetables in and seperate them from other items in my bag.
Well done Asda - you've lost a customer with that moronic attempt to pretend that you care about the environment, where all you are trying to do is save a fraction of a penny and put a hidden tax in form of useless bags on your (now former) customers.”
“I bought 5 bath towels when you dry yourself coming out the bath and put them in the washing basket they have this awful smell thought it was something in my sons bedroom but no it’s coming from the towels.”
“Out of the Big 4 supermarkets, we have been very pleasantly surprised by Asda for our groceries deliveries.
We have been relying totally on online shopping since 7th March 2020.
We have managed to get delivery slots every other week, as desired, which is good. During the peak lockdown, this was much harder and I had to get up in the middle of the night to hunt for slots, but definitely this has eased for now.
The choice of items and variables are substantial, leaves you stumped for choice, which is always a good thing.
The delivery drivers have been good and friendly , mantaining social distancing on majority of the occassion .
The items quality have been good and items mostly intact, except for some crushed or leaking items
Substitites are only given for items that you tick to say are ok to substitite. But some of these have been more miss than hit. So the packers should pay a little more attention to detail, to stop this from happening.
You receive an text to say when the driver is coming on the day and it also advises you how many items are substituted or missing. Go should then go online and check your shopping update. If you dont like a substitute, you can ask the driver to take them back before you touch anything, do remember this or they will not take it back.
The multi seeded bread is always tasty, the brown bread dusted rolls are always fresh and soft
The fruit and vegetables are excellent apart from the odd mishap.
A Special request, Please take steps to stock tofu made by "The Tofoo Co Ltd, in particular the Plain and the smoked variety, which are really excellent products, required for our dietry needs. We thne have to go to other supermarkets to get these. We much rather get it from you.
Please pass this request on to the new products acquisition department for Asda
To sum up, Asda has done great things for us as a customer and rightly deserve the number 1 supermarket slot in our eyes. The prices are good and competitive. The delivery charges are ok dependant on the time slot you can get or choose.
It would be good if FREE DELIVERY could be offered for shoppers who spend more than a specifically set amount, say £70, or what you consider to be a viable proposition. Look forward to this being actioned as well.
A big thank you to all Asda members of staff who have done a wondeful job serving so many, during these most difficult of times.”
“What is Asda playing at? Inflation is at it's lowest level in years, but when I went in on Thursday, some prices have jumped up way above what seems reasonable. My favourite wholemeal bread was £1, now £1.25. Bread rolls, 84p; now 96p. Asda cookies, 75p; now 98p. And now they have 'Famously Low Prices' logo's plastered throughout the stores! Who are they trying to kid? This is plain profiteering from another greedy corporation who are just sticking two fingers up to the customer. So, yes. I'm happy to shop elsewhere from now on.”
“Whilst I appreciate due to Corona virus that businesses are having difficulties not previously encountered. However we are now in August and whilst other supermarket chains seem to have overcome stock shortages a several months ago, ASDA (Lancing store) still seems to struggle with stock issues for online deliveries.
We have been in strict self isolation since the beginning of March 2020. Taking all measures to try and avoid Convid19, we started using supermarket online grocery delivery services. Initially we were only able to obtain slots from Tesco and ASDA. At first both chains suffered stock issues with bread, rice, pasta ect, due to some people bulk buying. We opted for ASDA deliveries when possible, as initially we preferred the service and the extra care (safety wise) taken by the ASDA drivers when delivering.
As time went on, we became more and more frustrated, as to obtain a slot with ASDA you have to book two weeks in advance and then not having the items we wanted on the delivery date. Our second and third shop with ASDA, having secured a slot and placing your grocery order two weeks prior to delivery. Initially we did not log back in to check the order and only received a fraction of the items we wanted, this included eggs, bread, meat and other basic essentials. There were several substitutions, for example frozen butternut squash instead of fresh carrots and peas instead of broccoli and they did refund the butternut squash, when emailed that these were no acceptable substitutions.
From that point onward, we logged in one or two days before the delivery date and each time we would receive a message saying these items are not available. In some instances 50% of our shop. Many of the items we wanted are still not available, such as; Pitta bread (white or wholemeal) bake at home baguettes, some rice and pasta.
Other items you would expect a super market not to run short of ASDA (Lancing store) frequently come up as not available when trying to order. For example steak and mince, pork, lamb, broccoli, carrots, a range of pies, burgers, soya milk, pasta, own brand curry sauce, strawberries, Ribenea, lemon squash, orange squash, freshly squeezed orange, Walkers chicken-salt and vinegar and cheese and onion crisps, Smith;s salt and shake crisps, Frozen peas (except then as a substitute for broccoli), lemons, cabbage, kale, rice, many types of cereal, fresh burgers and frozen burgers, various breads, The list goes on. Although we have always been able to get plenty of bananas and avocados , one can only surmise that the stock controller for ASDA Lancing like bananas and avocados, not presumably together.
Mid July we moved house (tricky whilst still self isolating) I placed an order to have groceries delivered in a few days after the move. Being concerned that I could not add to delivery addressed in my ASDA account I called ASDA customer services and was told that because my debit card was still registered at the then current address, I could not have the groceries delivered to another address. explaining that having to order the shop two weeks in advance and still having to purchase things for the move, I was not changing my details with the bank until the last minute. I was told that if I secured a slot and placed an order I would be able to switch the address once the billing address for my debit card was updated.
I actually did this four days after the conversation with customer services, after the payment to the moving company had been processed. Once conformation the address had been changed arrived from my bank, I logged on to ASDA and tried to change the delivery address, I tired everything I could think of. I called customer services and was told as after 7:00pm on a Friday, I would need to call back Monday when the relevant team would be there. I called and was told it was not possible to change the address, that I would have to book another slot. Which would mean having a week without groceries and we had run most things down not to have to move loads of food. I explained this and received apathy and total nonchalance, even after offering to provide the letter written by my GP advising as a person at extreme risk I needed to strictly isolate. I was told that is no other option, even though the advise I received from ASDA had led to the issue.
Now facing a week without groceries, I tried Sainsburys and we have not suffered any of these issues with them. Although admittedly they are more expensive.”
“Had on line delivery in April with £58 worth of goods not delivered. Original order delivered to wron address so no facility to apply for 4efund on line. After dozens of phone calls to customer service and promises of call back which never came, letters written to head office and no reply I had no option but to issue a claim in the County Court and pay a fee of £25. No defence entered by Asda so I obtained judgment against them. Still no payment so emailed Head Office to tell them. They then confirmed that they would refund the £58. I had to write again saying the still owed me court fee which they reluctantly agreed to pay sometime later. No apology and no explanation. An example of extremely bad customer service compared to Waitrose and Marks and Spencer. Its worth paying more (if in fact you do as the food from Asda is not always fresh), for the excellent service from them. I will never shop with Asda again.”
“Went in Asda, Hyde, Cheshire several days ago and you would know there was a Coronavirus scare still prevalent. Majority of the customers were wearing masks, but hardly any staff wore a mask, they did not social distance at all. The one way system as gone and they did not social distance at all, It was uncomfortable and frightening. I will not use Asda stores while there is a coronavirus scare. Please be aware if you do go in Asda.”
“Do not use Asda's online grocery delivery service.
My order to be delivered 27/7 between 7-9pm, failed to arrive, contacted Asda and a manager was to give me a call back 10-15mins ...week later still no call. With order supposedly cancelled 27/7, 4 days later 31/7 Asda took payment from my account. Contacted Asda again as this is theft, details of situation taken and told that nothing could be done as payments/refunds department closed and to call back 8am 1/8 and ask to be put directly through to the department. Called 1/8 at 8an asked to be put through, asked what it was regarding had to explain situation yet again. The lady I spoke to took details assured me it had been passed to management of the department and that I would be refunded within 24hours. This is now the 3/8 still no refund, no call back from management, no delivery, contacted Asda again today details of situation taken yet again. The lady I spoke to said she had spoken to the manager in refund department and due to high volumes they never got to me. This is unacceptable and obviously shows Asda is not living up to their promises. I have been told again today that a refund will be with me within 24hours and also told they always honour their promise......obviously I have no faith in their promise as they have not upheld any of the promises made. A week later due to Asda failings, taking no responsibility for their actions. I am still having to waste my time and money due to Asda's incompetence trying to get my money returned which Asda had no right taking in the first place.”
“Went to Asda queslett great Barr today and I dont understand why they have take the arrows and no entry signs off the floor In the isles. I know masks are to become mandatory are they going to refuse entry to those not wearing one , I noticed a number of people without a mask.”
