By all means please stay away from this company. For my holiday in Turkey they charged me for the car to be collected at the address that doesn’t exist. Unsuccessful attempts to get a refund, appalling customer service. Not recommended.

Reserved and paid for car with full insurance with a guaranteed shuttle service. Upon arrival at Liverpool airport at 11.00 pm, I phoned the company to get picked up only to be told I could either walk 20 minutes to the Rentalcars agency or pay £4.00!I paid the fee and was taken to the agency. As I had booked an early morning return flight I asked the agent what time the shuttle bus would take me to the airport only to be told that I could either take a taxi £15 (if one was available, or do the 20 minute walk! I was then asked for my credit card to cover costs?? As I only have a debit card I was told I would have to pay an extra £35 per day of the rental! At this point I left the agency, refusing to take the car as there was no guarantee I would make my flight back in time and the company obviously can not be trusted with any hidden charges upon returning the car. I was stranded in an industrial zone but I finally made it to my father's funeral thanks to UBER. I have since written and telephoned to no avail, their lack of customer care is disgusting. Don't use the, go with Europcar, I've never had a bad experience with them.

Stole about SEK 3,000 from me by charging for a car that I did not rent. Refused to answer when I called from the counter and delayed the refund process. Finally refused to repay the amount despite dozens of emails / calls over a five-month period. Never. Ever. Again

Worst experience.scammers. They always took money for no service. Don't believe this rentalcars.com. they are not even deserve 1 star. They took 400chf from my husband. They didn't refund for cancellation. But when booked a car it shows free cancellation. Thiefs

Rentalcars.com appears to offer an attractive deal, including insurance but when you actually go to pick up the car, the car provider they have assigned does not deliver the car demanding you purchase insurance directly from them. Effectively this amounts to forced purchase of insurance twice over and if you don't do it they don't give the car. So when you walk away from the deal rental cars.com system does not let you cancel and then you can't get your money back. This is tantamount to outright theft just that there is no recourse except credit card company that I am now struggling to reach to disallow the charge.

Hello, rental cars .com in my opinion are not up front and open about renting cars in Europe. A major important detail is for European union, if coming from outside the union, you need an international driver's license. That is not stated anywhere in their main communications with me. I arrived to pick up my car, they could not give me one because of wrong license. Ok, i try to cancel my 4 day rental. Nope, not allowed. Ok, i'll pay for first day since they hold the car for 12hrs. Nope. I called rental car.com and they said they would email me rental issue forms. Nope, never happened. Several emails later they say sorry, but it's in the policy. Basically i paid for a rental car for 4 days and got no rental car and they took 100% of my money. I am furious. Please don't use this company for your car rental needs.

Terrible service if you try to cancel, they make what they can to avoid you and make the process exausting. After all I could't do it and quit, leaving my money behind.

This company is shambolic! Terrible customer service. One agent on the phone even hung up the phone on me when I asked them if I could speak to someone else. I made a booking with them for Europcar and it said in the details that the pick-up deposit must only be made with a credit card and nothing else. I called them to ask about it and they confirmed over the phone that was the case. I had to change my booking to a more expensive rental that would accept debit cards. When picking up the car the Europcar the office manager told me that they always accept debit cards and that Rentalcars were wrong. After a truly painful experience trying to get the difference refunded as it was their mistake they eventually outright refused saying it was my fault. So it was my fault that I didn't check the incorrect information when making my booking??!!! Trying to submit a complaint about a rental is almost impossible, I think they just hope you'll give up. You'll have to pay extra for the privilege of using them as 3rd party and if you have a problem they'll conveniently disappear. Just go straight to the rental company

When I was searching for a car rental I looked at what they had to offer. I entered the info required & then decided to look at the reviews. Based on the reviews I went back to the page that I had still open & decided I did not want to use them. I closed the window out without knowingly confirming it. After I had finalized the exact day & time of the flights I did book & pay another company. When I looked at my credit transactions on my card I discovered Rental Cars had processed my inquiry and charged me $108.00 for car rental. I immediately contacted them to discuss & they stated their minimum cancelation charge would be three days rental charge. As my rental turned out to be over a 3 day period by calendar but only 2 days by hours they wouldn't refund anything stating they were losing a day. They were losing a day??? I didn't even use any car from them!!. Will attempt to work this out with my credit card company who is already aware of the dispute & recommended that I try to work it out with the company first before they close out my card & send a new one. So much for working anything out with Rental Cars...they have $108.00 for absolutely NOTHING !!!!!!!!

Had a car reserved and when I showed up at the counter, no car was available because the public bus we were on was late. The company says that is not their problem, so they will not refund the money. Do not use this company!!!

This company is a sham and a joke. My experience with Rentalcars.com was one of the single worst examples of customer service I have ever endured. I got an email the night before my car pick up that my booking was not confirmed (despite already having a different confirmation email from Rentalcars.com a month prior, and having paid), so I rang customer service. After a 15-minute wait, the person was rude and unhelpful, and couldn't answer a single question. He told me to 'call back at the end of the day', despite it already being 5.30pm. He said call at 8.30pm. When I did, the customer service line was closed, which I can only assume he knew it would be. At 12pm the next day – 30 minutes before I was supposed to pick up my car in Greece – I received an email from them saying my booking had been cancelled. Luckily, I had booked a replacement with a genuinely reputable company, anticipating this would happen. At the call centre, they have a 'policy' that they cannot elevate your complaint to a manager. I imagine this is because there either is no manager, or they get so many complaints that it's an unmanageable workload for a single person. If I could rate my experience a 0 or less, I would. If I hadn't taken the initiative, I would have been stuck at the airport with no car.

Rentalcars.com is hiring cars for companies which do not exist in real life. Just came back from holidays in Poland. Rented a car through RyanAir which is redirecting to Rentalcars.com. When arrived to airport in Poland , I have tried to contact person which suppose to meet and greet us. Call goes straight to voicemail. I have left message and had call back from different number than that I called. Guy said that he has nothing to do with car hire company.I had no choice but to hire a car from different company. I have contacted RyanAir which directed me to Rentalcars.com I have contacted Rentalcars.com. They responded and said that I cannot have refund as I didn't cancel my booking. How could I know that car hire does only exist on the web but not in real life. Rentalcars.com shouldn't even receive one star. It is the lowest of the low. They do not check even if company is existing and they keep on selling product.

I have heard so much about XAP Credit Solution on how they help people boost their credit score and remove soft/hard enquiries from their report. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try, the good news is that XAP came through for me and 5 others I referred. I want to tell you a story that was with Rentalcars. I was traveling in Prague and booked through the website of Rentalcars car rental with Elmo from the airport in Prague, when I arrived to pick up the car just in time for me, I noticed various Elmo car rental closed. There is no phone number or any sign that the car rental shop is active. At that moment I called Rentlecars to cancel the order and check why the Elmo car rental agency is closed. Rentalcars customer service received the call and everything is documented even sent me the call in an email complaining that the agency is closed. And sent photos of the closed agency. Everything is documented. I was told by a rentalcars company to open a case after a week to get a refund. And to this day half a year after the event I have not received any refund the amount of rent was about $ 500. In all the cases I contacted Rentalcars closed the case claiming they spoke to the Elmo Agency and the Elmo Agency said they were on the spot and the agency was open even though I keep sending the facts proving that the agency was closed. Rentalcars is an unprofessional and immoral company, its customer service is poor and it turns out to be a fraudulent company that stole money from a customer. The company did not provide an answer to all the evidence it received and simply ignored me the customer without any ability to do anything against it. It is not advisable to mess with this rogue and immoral society just thieves.

Awful company. Take money off people for rental cars that aren’t even available when you arrive. Awful customer service. Avoid like the plague and go straight to the hire car company.

I had rented a car on rentalcars.com and the rental company was Routes.ca; worst experience ever! I did not have any support from rentalcars.com or from routes.ca to solve my problem. In fact, it was a scam!!! I would have expected that rentalcars.com to have done some sue dil on its suppliers!!! Here is my story and I learnt the hard way that there were similar horror stories like mine!!! I landed in Calgary on March 12 around 4:20; I called Routes rental for a shuttle. I’ve been given instructions where to wait for the shuttle and been told that a shuttle comes every 7 minutes. The person never bothered advising me that the office will be closing at 5pm! Unthinkable for an airport rental car counter closing at 5pm on weekends! I called many times with no one to answer and no shuttle has ever shown up! I ended up renting another car at much higher price due do the last minute reservation. Since, I called many times, left 2 VM and 2 emails, I could not speak to anyone at the counter and nothing has been resolved. The worst customer service ever experienced !!!! When I finally could speak to someone, I’ve been told that I can’t get my car as the offer expired! It is outrageous because I have prepaid for the car rental for March 12 to 20, so legally this car is mine during the term. This is beyond bad service, this is dishonest business practice, this is fraud to me! I will report this to regulatory bodies! Please stay away from this rental company! PS I travel a lot and I rent often cars and never got scammed like that before!!!!

Booked with the company. Needed to add a driver because my flight was delayed. Company said they couldn’t addd any drivers. Rather, I would have to cancel the reservation and rebook with them. The agent told me to call back any time after the scheduled pickup time and they will confirm that I did not pick up the original reservation for a full refund. I called back 3 days later and the agent explained it needed to be done within 24 hours. 1. Agent never explained. 2. If the reservation was cancelled, there was no loss from rentalcars.com. No refund issued, paid for 2 bookings.

Scammers - withholding large refund and failing to even provide evidence of payment. I cancelled a six week booking and although they claim they have refunded the money, it has never appeared. There is no process to follow up, customer service in callcentres and no proceedure - I am going round in circles and out of pocket a great deal of money - DO NOT USE RENTALCARS EVER

ref. nr 718603935 Car company could not deduct the deposit from my creditcard. Debetcards and cash were not accepted. So they just sent me away with: sorry we can't help you. So I sent a complaint to Rentalcars in order to get my money back. No answer at all.

This company is like working with an automated phone system that puts you on hold. They have no customer service. I explained my son is extremely sick in the hospital and had to shorten my time with the car and even tho they received full payment they would not give me a refund. This company is hard to get a hold of and no flexibility. Rent DIRECTLY from the rental car business as they will work with you. Do NOT use 3rd party. Trust me. I post this to help others.
