Had a tyre burst in Jedburgh contacted Rac at around 21.00hrs and they never came just sent texts till 23.30 to say they were extremely busy. We called them several times and they continued to pass me on to Mercedes Benz. They booked a courier different times with the taxi to carry us home since it was a Saturday into Sunday morning. The 24hrs response came at around 03.30 am to collect the car to the storage and taxi was booked for 05.20am suggesting almost 2hrs of us waiting in the cold in the middle of early hours of the morning for the taxi in the dark and cold. The 24hrs response driver was not prepared to wait coz of his own reasons and was suggesting I leave the car keys at a garage nearby or under the car tyre so that when he comes they will tour the car which was uncomfortable for me and I told him and he left saying the car won't be toured because he could not wait until taxi comes because RAC and Mercedes could not give a specific ETA. We spent almost 9hrs because we where in a rural area and not same priority since allocation was done by priority. They guy we spoke to even suggest that we went back to where we were coming from so we wait for taxi there, which was in Edinburgh. I suggested I wont leave the keys with anyone who is not the recovery person or under the tyre as suggested since it was not 100% and the guy we spoke to stated that the car had to be attended and toured with specialist equipment without the keys. The taxi came at 0645 instead of 05.20. The whole experience was disgusting. Paying for Rac roadside recovery for so many years only to be treated with less priority for 9hrs. Four women were left vulnerable, in the cold for 9 hrs!!

Contacted on the 23rd of February around 13:30hrs. Eventually cancelled at 20:20hrs. Something is inherently wrong with this company. To add insult to injury it states the job has been completed on their app. What a sham! Avoid RAC!!!

My car was broken down 22 Feb 2024 in Normal rainy day 10.30 pm I asked them rescued me they said 3 or hour's and now it's 24 Feb 2024 10am no a chance still waiting for rac I feel humiliated waited 4 hours in rain then 4 hours on police compound then again waited 8 hours in car felt like kill myself or kill them how much humiliations got on phone by rac

I got back into Stansted last night at 10:50 to find my battery was flat . Logged a call on line with RAC . What a joke though I’m not laughing . Said will turn up between 1113 and 1143 by 1230 nothing . A meme bet of stansted staff fixed it in the end. We cancelled the call but I still woke to a message left at 5am saying they would be here by 8 ( they weren’t ) . Clearly RAC have issues as they used to be brilliant !

Awful left waiting for hours after initial contact I have been member for over 11 years. Rac used to be the best now worst . I eventually sorted a paid for own tow truck, complaint gone in asking for what I had to pay for tow truck and repairs guess won't hear anything. Shame can't give - 2 stars.

This company is a complete scam. I was left waiting for someone to come and jump start my van for 8 hours all due to being told lies that someone is coming in an hour and so on for 8 hours in a freezing cold. AVOID AVOID

That company is useless. Lying to me. 25hrs later still nobody showed up to check my van. When I called them they keep saying will arriving by that time or that time or that time. Nothing. I waited 4hrs on the road to send someone but they didn't send anyone and I have to drive home with the car what I not supposed to use as the engine the broke. I managed to get home but nobody come to me to check the van. Don't waste your money to pay the membership with them.

I was left at the Toddington services for eight hours & was continually lied to as to when the Patrolman was going to arrive & then the breakdown lorry, in the end I was sent a taxi to take me home eight hours later. This is how they treat Pensioners. They are an absolute disgrace.

They text me rescuer will be with me about hour been 3 hours still waiting costumer service lying so much paying them 5 years in row now time comes They trying to get staff feel like it no one working tonight

DO NOT USE RAC - especially for Motorhome/ Caravan cover. We broke down 8 hours from home, vehicle wouldn't start. RAC towed us to a local garage, within 2 days the garage said they couldn't help, it needs to be towed to a Nissan specialist. We called RAC to get it towed to our home by a Nissan specialist, they said that while the car was in the garage they towed it to, it's MOT ran out (two days ago) and they cant tow a car without MOT. We can't get an MOT as the car wont start. We can't get RAC to tow as they wont without MOT. So our £26k car and motorhome (our second home) has been stranded 8 hours from home for 5 months. We're completely stuffed as we cant afford a tow. It's literally created a critical circumstance for our life and the complaints department don't care.

Yesterday a rac employee refused to tow me because he thought one of the tires on the inside had one tread below the legal limit (which of course is not true) he was unkind, even racist towards me. Plymouth

Been waiting for 4 hours after coasting off M6 motorway into gritting depot, given up waiting so have abandoned vehicle and walked to Stafford to get train home, after paying for ten years they are not here when you need them, com merchants completely.

Customer Service Team. Overcharge of double any normal Garage would charge for a car Battery....Price promise is a lie... RAC Battery £210 Garage same battery £110. RAC will use your hell situation and turn it into a profit situation. You clearly now see that your patrol agent is giving misleading information to your customers to maximise profits as to see a very different stance, your now taking. If you check the car registration on the vehicle MOT and Insurane data base you will see that the car was directly taken to a MOT Garage that I've used for over 10 yrs. A Garage that has an excellent customer service and quality helpful staff. They only use quality main dealer "OE" quality rather like your battery ... the same make! I really don't see the logic and nether does Simpson solicitors of your change of direction and the requirement of a " within a five mile policy" Your patrol agent was informed of the situation that I was taking the vehicle for MOT at the stated Garage. He informed me and put my mind at rest by offering your / his " price Guarantee " If this was not offered " I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THE BATTERY" I now really have lost patience with your bold attitude with either a rouge Patrol Agent or your Companies profit at all costs when your customer is in desperate need. Either back your patrol agents / your price promise or we go to small claims court! I look to a swift response either way Your sincerely M H E Smith

10 hours after my breakdown at 3pm I was left in a retail car park by the tow truck at midnight and told to wait for 4 hours in a rough area, in the car on my own. I rang up crying because a car with 4 men were shouting at me. The RAC kept saying they would update me and I was priority but I'm still here at 1 am, crying, scared and vulnerable. They have put me in this dangerous position, Women shouldn't just he dumped in random carparks at night. I will never use the rac again after lifelong membership.

Left waiting by the RAC for 7 hours on a blind bend I need say no more and will let you deside which service to use the RAC or the AA. No stars if I could.

Happy to take your money. £230 cover to be left for 8 hrs despite it being good weather, no other issues. Left a disabled person without food, water or toilet facilities despite trying to let them know about it. 2 months later they are still arguing about a refund. INCOMPETENT. DON'T BUY.
