Shocking. Came out to replace a battery, but were unable to do this - while visiting they broke the wire/plug into our DPF sensor. The next guy changed the battery and pointed out the plug break. RAC refuse to accept any fault for this, despite us now having a check engine light that we did not have before. Appalling service, I will never use them again.

I phoned yesterday evening, to be told my policy had expired, which I knew hadn't as paid for the year, lady said phone in morning, well that was no good to me ,I asked what if I was in middle of nowhere, she replied "I don't know, phone 8am" I found my renewal date and phoned back, it was found, then to be asked if I had business insurance which I did as I'm a carer, he said I wasn't covered and asked for £24, which I couldn't afford, I'd already paid £156, and wasn't even covered since last July, so that was a waste of money, surely this should be asked when talking policy out along with everything else asked. So I've cancelled this morning, this hadn't been only problem, when I have called for assistance in past I've always been made to drive faulty car whole they follow, damaging vehicle further.

DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE 29 april 2024 The recovery took about 6h 30 minutes to arrive. Mobile mechanic checked and diagnosed the car for about 1 hour, diagnosed that its the engine starter that needs to be replaced, about 340£ replacement cost and he offered me home repair on 1st of May, Wednesday. Ti's was the reason why I chose to take the car home at not at the garage that offered me very similar time and price of repairing if the diagnostic is right. Didn't had ant warning lights on my dashboard at the moment. Tuesday 30 April I received a phone call from RAC telling me that the mechanic that should repair my car did a shift the night before and won't be able to repair my car till Friday the 3rd of May, so already lost 2 days of work/pay in health industry, my wife had to pay the taxi to work. Tried to talk to RAC meanwhile to solve their mistake and take my car to the garage where can be repaired properly, I've been told to do another breakdown request, but this one will cost about 90£. Friday a mobile mechanic came and after less than 3 minutes after opening the car hood told me that the car needs to be repaired at a garage, can't be repaired home. Less than3 minutes, without diagnostic computer etc. He said another car will come and take my car to a garage. No one came back that day or answered to the phone till Tuesday. In between I tried to contact RAC cuatomer service that was absolutely useless. Tuesday managed to talk to the mobile mechanics again, same story, someone will pick up the car and take it to garage, didn't happened. Had to solve with different company, paid extra, lost lots of day of work, income and stress, hours on phone with your operators, DO NOT USE Date of experience: 29 April 2024

After waiting one hour for a mechanic who confirmed recovery was needed, RAC waited for 1 1/2 hours before notifying recovery ‘partner’ We waited in the middle of nowhere for 4 1/2 hours. Absolutely dire, Green Flag from next renewal…

I ring up RAC to fix an oil leaking. The service due date or the mileages has not reached yet. But I made a booking specifically to fix an oil leaking. They did a normal service without addressing the issue I discussed on the first call and did a "normal service" (God only knows if they service it at all) and they slap me with $315!. The team within RAC called complain blah blah, the worst to call and the team didn't do anything about it. Now I am happy with Auto Bahn services that treat you with respect. RAC rubbish service and arrogant good for nothing

They don't even deserve the one star, Absolutely shocking service, Car broke down 3.30pm 9th May, Outside a school on a main road, I was in the car with two small children, weather was boiling hot I was told to wait with the car. I called a 6.00pm and they said go home and they would call back before they come, they arrived at 11.00pm, could t start the car, called a recovery firm they jumped started and was told that the car will take me home but would not start once turned off, and that I would have to call the following day to get the car transported to a local garage, Today is the 10th May 2024, I called this morning at 10.30am for a recovery to the local garage being told they would be arriving within a few hours, it now is 5.15pm and I'm still waiting for them to arrive the garage has actually closed at 5.00pm, so I am still sitting waiting for them, how is this company running RAC, I can't even explain how stressed and anxious this ordeal has made me feel, I have now booked a recovery for tmrw morning with another firm and paid £98.00 for them to drop the car of at the local garage, and there was me thinking that I had annual cover with RAC to cover me in a breakdown, they have no morals what so ever let's just say the DD I have cancelled, I have just called them now again at 17.22pm they have now switched to a customer team in India who have said that the recovery truck will arrive at 7.30pm even though the garage is closing at 6.00pm, I have asked them what will they do with the car at 7.30pm and she has told me she doesn't know,

Ref driver Mechanic Jim 2726 gloucestershire. Hi there. I have just had a fantastic experience with an RAC driver / mechanic. I was broken down on my Honda Blackbird due to the battery not charging and dying on me. He kindly stopped just because I was in a dangerous position on a 3 lane junction. He went around the roundabout again and pulled up behind and protected me with his large van. He then assessed the situation and briefly charged my battery for 10 mins which was enough to get me home.he then kindly followed my route to Newent in Gloucestershire to make sure I got home safe. About 8 miles. The good deed he did gave me belief in the RAC but also belief in the fact there is some very good people out there that care about us motorist and potentially saved me from a bad accident. Thank you Jim. I hope the RAC appreciate you as much as I do. Thank you RAC

Shockingly bad and I have been with them since 2005. But only the second time IA've broken down i all that time and needed them they don't show up. I managed to drive my vehicle the 40 miles home which was very risky considering I didn't know exactly what was wrong with it but hoped it was just a diagnostic problem. The other time I broke down about eight years ago they told me I needed a fuel pump and it was in fact the battery. Please avoid the RAC if you want to stay safe in case of a breakdown.

Absolute shambles. I honestly can't even fully go into how ridiculous this has been this morning. £120 a month I pay for some reason. And didn't have home Start in that. Tried to change £85 ontop to get helped at home today. That's what one person said, another said £40 and put Mr through to someone else so I could pay, but they weren't there to take a payment, and the whole process started over again. They don't know what they are doing

Absolutely awful, the aa are 10x better. Was told by them I had a faulty battery a year after having the aa put one in. I refused to pay rac £150+ for a new one so called the aa and they found out there was nothing wrong with it and just needed a simple jumpstart. They also flat out refused to come out once for no reason. Absolutely awful never go near them

My car is insured with Hastings Direct linked with RAC. I couldn’t start my Mini Cooper Countryman in a Aldershot service station. The RAC was with me within minutes and helped me above and beyond. I was more than grateful for such service. Elizabeth Clements, Aldershot.

Broke down with puncture a few miles from home. Daniel from the RAC came to our rescue as the old wheel was jammed solid and we couldn't get it off to put the spare on.

I can't believe how pushy the call centre lady was when I cancelled my membership. She wouldn't accept that I wanted to cancel. On 4 or 5 occasions during our dialogue I told her I just want to cancel but she wouldn't let it go. Well she did eventually of course. She asked me why? Which is fair enough. I told her why "that i have gone with a cheaper provider which has the same standard of cover" in fact it was slightly more impressive. She replied by saying that their policy would cost £70 per callout which was BS. She then tried to palm me off with several other deals to which i said no. I actually got charged £30 admin for the cancellation process. My policy was on auto renew but had to call the office to cancel auto renew i couldnt do it via the app which i think is ridiculous in this day and age. Being the weekend the office was shut so had to wait until monday by which time my policy renewed hence me having to cancel it. She told me in a rather condescending tone that i had been given ample time to do this. They didnt mention that you couldn't cancel auto renew using the app though. They have already had several hundred pounds worth of my money and in that time I Nether broke down. So that's not bad for a little bit of pen pushing. Just quit while your ahead. When will these corporations realise that pushyness just deters people in the future from using there services again. They are stabbing themselves in the back. Oh they also sent me a smug and smarmy email when confirming cancellation.
