Today I make a call as I had an issue with trailer not able to attach trailer board to electric plug on my van. Phoned around 14:30 explaining had to get trailer with bike on to Norwich for service. Guy on phone tried every avenue to find issue to my policy to not have to honour the breakdown. Ie is vehicle over 3.5 ton. What length is it ? Hang on let me speak to my manage !? 20 minutes later he tells me you are covered we will get someone to you. Whe I check the time it was 18:30 - 19:30. 4 hour wait. I signed up to another breakdown service who attended helped me out understanding I had deadline to get trailer with motorbike to dealers b4 they closed at 18:00. Awful service. Awful experience. Awful waste of money.

Just an God Awful company Contacted at 10-45 this morning Latest update 11-40 pm to 2-40 am Terrible service Don’t even try to contact by phone Come September I’m away from these gangsters

9 hours for a patrol vehicke to attend and 6 follow ups.. Call to RAC at 21.06 and patrol at 6.05 am.The sad part is that patrol front line are great, back office handlers awful. After 10 years of membership and two call outs, I amnot renewing, given roadside assistance on both calls was not delivered in a realistic timescale. My advice is don't join, look for alternatives and read the reviews Goodbye to RAC!

17hrs and counting, no recovery!!!!! Sent me a taxi to take me home but sent it to the wrong place to pick me up and the taxi company "cmac" wouldn't send him 1 and 1/2 miles down the road to the correct place to pick me up. SHOCKING SERVICE ¡!!!!!!!!!!!

Rude call handlers, long wait for recovery, incorrect quotes for the mobile mechanic service, parts fitted then broken , customer service appalling. Will never use RAC again

Customer service is so bad. I don’t understand how you can hire such bad customer service representatives. One of the worst experiences every time I get on the phone with them. The attitude is horrible and they can care less about your problems.

Don't know where to start with my review.... what a joke, diabolical service, you just can't make a story up...... Broken down in Coventry M1 on route home from Newcastle at 10pm then the the drama unfolded with the RAC.... WAS TOLD I have a 90min wait which grew to another 90min + to where we was recovered to Northampton Services & wait till 5.30am to be picked up by a taxi to be taken home. To make our breakdown even dramatic, we were accidentally picked up by a third party recovery service, lifted the front wheels off the ground and then checked his phone & stated he had lifted the wrong vehicle. Upon lowering my vehicle his tow equipment got stuck under my vehicle pulling up my under panel & bumper and disappearing, luckily I had taken photos of him, his vehicle registration & company details. They said my vehicle WILL BE RECOVERED IN THE MORNING & TAKEN TO THE GARAGE......What a joke, I arrived at the garage at 9am & waited, made calls to the RAC to which my vehicle still hadn't been recovered YET. My vehicle finally arrived at the garage at 16.40hrs approx. Lost 2 days work, very little sleep & to top it off, the cab company they used made up some made route to get me & my partner home running a £75.00 bill for an hour journey. He was foreign & made out the satnav took him the wrong way down the M25... Yes, I did let the RAC know of our journey home, 2hours 15mins later. They started to get angry with me on the phone... don't know how many staff members I spoke with..... there just pass the buck until new staff arrived to which you had to repeat yourself over & over again Heard nothing back from them since.

Six hours before I was seen only to be told recovery would be later at night, booked recovery for 7:00 to 8:00 the following morning yet again more delay texts even though I was told I was being collected in 15min. Recovery was split into two operators I got home a 2 and half hour drive 27 hrs from initial breakdown report.

Highly unreliable service, lost two work days as they kept postponing agreed dates last minute. The person on the phone was highly unprofessional and offered few words to explain or offer compensation or anything viable. I would not use this service again, they are not that much cheaper and just a mess to say the least. Now I am stuck with trying to find an alternative garage just prior to holidays.

My son who is named on my policy had to wait 12 hours for a patrol. When the patrol arrived it was a third party who had to tools obviously with no intention of getting him moving so he good head back to his Navy base, and simply recovered him to a local garage. To add insult to injury he then had to get an uber from the garage the final 3 miles home!! Shocking service policy cancelled.

Under my Citroen warranty I had breakdown cover with the RAC which I tried to use when I suffered damage to the side wall of my rear offside tyre. It happened mid evening on a country road and I managed to get to my son's which was a couple of miles away before the tyre fully deflated. I contacted the RAC through my Citroen App and fully explained the situation. I wasn't expecting them to come up with a new tyre at that time of night but they gave me the impression that help would come. Hours later they told me they couldn't help me that night so would I cancel the call and reapply the next day. I asked why the job could not be forwarded instead of having to cancel and was given the excuse that a live call would prevent someone else from getting help. I suspect this was a ploy to keep their waiting time statistics down and did absolutely nothing to help me. They gave me a number to ring for resurrecting the call but when I tried that the next day I was at the back of a busy queue and even when my call was taken the whole process of finding a suitable tyre etc would have had to be started from scratch. Thankfully I had got the car to a safe place and was able to get help from another source. An extremely disappointing experience with the RAC

Rang RAC at 1030am and eventually got recovered at 7pm. I spent all this time phoning RAC as their text link to ETA didn't work and each time I phoned for update, I was told it would be sorted and someone would phone me back - never happened. The RAC is obviously not the RAC of yesteryear - a complete waste of money. One of the call handlers agreed the service we were experiencing was completely unacceptable and they needed more vans. In the end, we were recovered by a contact garage - the guy who turned up was a gentleman and nothing to do with RAC. I will be cancelling my contract with RAC after this

Took 3 1/2 hours to show up. could not fix my problem. I had to wait another 2 hours for a tow which I had to pay an extra £170 for. I am cancelling!

Terrible breakdown company, I've had to call them twice first time to 12hrs to turn up, second time they never showed at all, had to limp home over 100 miles on 3 cylinders and used 7ltrs oil. RAC didn't care and weren't interested in my complaint

Had a nice chap come out to me this morning, he was extremely handsome and helpful. He only had to replace a coil (?) but I would rather of let him smash my gearbox ;)

RAC used to be a great organisation who had the benefit of the members at heart, but not any more. I was a member for over 50 years and always felt secure in my motoring. Well not any more! Not needed them for years, just paid my membership for peace of mind, but unfortunately I was now wasting my money. Last winter broke down in a dangerous location and we spent 8 hours sat in the cold and darkness with just the occasional text telling us they had not forgotten us but pushing back the rescue time another couple of hours. Well 8 hours was not to long to wait you may say, but actually they never did come as I arranged my own recovery as my wife’s health was deteriorating badly. Not sure how long we would have been with the RAC as we arrived home we received a message to say they would be coming from a location around 50 miles away to collect us but would de around another 3 hours, so I. Cancelled the call out. My wife spent 3 days on different hospital wards with pneumonia which led to order complications over the winter Complained several times and received a pittance of compensation which I used to join another motoring organisation They even had the cheek to put my renewal premium up and told me it would be automatically taken, which was blatant theft as I was opted out. Actually sorry to leave the RAC as they were a once great organisation, but not any more
