Very helpful over the phone, lovely manner, but completely ripped of , been with them since 2018 now 2022, changed car, went up to 109 a month from 20..... New car insurance well over half cheaper,

They never turned up!!!! 11 messages and over 4 hours later, they rang me to apologise... member for over 20 years, never called them out before. Had to pay a local breakdown company to get home, cost me £120.00 for approx 3 mile journey. Don't waste your money on them!

I always thought RAC to be reputable. Having just dealt with their Shop Customer Support I will never use the company again. Abysmal support, ignore UK Trading Laws, inefficient and incorrect information on their website Ignore the understanding of what a Formal Complaint is...........need I go on, I have found many similar reviews subsequently online along the same lines, I just wish I had read them before trading with RAC

What a shambles that the lowest review is 1 star, they don't really deserve any stars. What a shambles from start to finish, called 11pm ford warranty, RAC promised within the hour. An hour later I get a call from RAC "customer services" saying they won't attend as no agents available! But we can send recovery. I said send recovery, they immediately said the garage will be closed so will send partol in morning. I explained the garage is open 24 hours... more excuses.... 7am the AA showed up! What a shamles

Could not start my car. Phoned RAC and they informed me that they would have someone out to me within the hour. It was actually 40mins and the RAC engineer was absolutely spot on in his diagnosis of my cars problem. Owen was his name and he serves the south wales area. He was so helpful and gave great advice on how to avoid the problem in the future. This is the second time I have used the service and have not been disappointed in their response. If what i saw is the standard of service, then they are doing something right.

Don't rate RAC at all ! My husband pays monthly we breakdown on M62 at 10pm 5 of us including child ! Temperatures dropping told 20 mins then told carnt get a truck ? Hubby had to wait 6hrs then had to sit in our broken down car on the back of tow truck as driver had someone infront wasn't anyhting to do with RAC probably his mate ! I advise people to get cover elsewhere !! Still waiting to hear something!!

I Have 2015 Vauxhall Mokka Auto Had a problem , driving normally then power steered locked up and various warning lights came on , I managed to steer safely into the side of the road. I turned the engine off and when I tried to restart found out there was no response from the starter motor, also boot would not open . I contacted RAC who said they would get an engineer to me as soon as possible . This was approx 2pm , while waiting I was kept informed by text messages of the progress . At 3.30 I received a phone call from the Engineer that he was on route to me and would arrive in approx 10 mins, which he did. The engineer was very methodical and eventually diagnosed the fault to a dirty earth connection onto the bodywork of the car . He made good the fault and checked that everything was now working exactly as it should. I am extremely gratefull to RAC and especially the engineer Paul for a brilliant service .

I had a one year warranty on an Alfa Romeo Mito. Within 5 months of purchase the coolant system started to show problems and I was unable to take on long journeys as the engine would overheat. I looked to use my warranty, and it was impossible to find a local garage, in need if working vehicle I bit the bullet and got fixed on my own dime. The issue continued, I eventually got booked into an RAC approved garage and found I had to pay for the diagnostic myself! There was no visible engine trouble, but the gent at the garage did remove some leaves that he said was covering the vent and could be causing the overheating. As he didn't fix any direct issue with the engine I had to pay for his labour as the RAC wouldn't cover it. I then called the RAC explaining the issue. I was greeted by genuinely the worst customer service agent I have ever had the mispleasure of speaking too. He was rude,arrogant and kept interrupting me. I said that given I had paid over £400 for a warranty and that 2 mechanics could see no visible issue with the engine that is was up to them to find a solution. He said to take it to a VAT registered garage, pay out for any repairs myself and then TRY to claim the money back. I'm already £750 out of pocket on trying to repair this car. When I could a word in edgeways I said I think it would be more than reasonable for the RAC to refund my purchase and take the car off my hands. If I had a warranty on a television or fridge, this would be common practice. More rudeness and more arrogance, I was so angry I hung up. Anyway one week later 8 decided to it my losses and sell the car and buy a new car. I called the RAC once more to cancel this warranty, I was told this was fine but I wasn't entitled to a refund for the last 4 months of the warranty I wouldn't be using . Needless to say i am fuming, the whole company are a bunch of con artists. Do not use them.

I got stuck in a muddy alley at UCKFIELD SUSSEX on saturday afternoon I called RAC EMERGENCY line and explaned what happened 1 team was sent and after observstion , took photos and said that it will pass the report to the office so they send appropriate vehicle . 5 hours later a can cam which was around 23:50 Have in mind i got stuck at around 16:00 After observation photos were taken for the 2ND TIME AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REPORT WILL BE PASSED ONTO THE OFFICE SO THEY COULD SEND APPROPRIATE VEHICLE FOR THE JOB. Waited till 00:53 and as no one called me , ive called the emergency line , and asked what is going to happen !?? I was told that it could be sorted in the morning , and APPROPRIATE VEHICLE WILL BE SENT TO DO THE JOB ! I was offered a taxi however choose to get home with another vehicle so i could be brought with a taxi from my home adress as i didnt want to drice as i was on the road for 22 hours at the day the accident happen , on which the operator agreed to ! So next day comes and i have a call from 2 different Road assistance guys who SAID THAT THEY ARE ON THE WAY and when i personally informed and advised that if they come with a HGV or a van The rescue will not happen as the alley is narrow and for that REASON A 4x4 IS MORE APPROAPRIATE FOR THE JOB they told me THAT NO INFORMATION IS PASSED ON TO THEM REGARDING SUCH INSTRUCTIONS AND THEY ARE WITH UNSUITABLE VEHICLES FOR THE RESCUE !!! HERE I AM CALLING THE OFFICE AGAIN EXPLAINING THE SITUATION FOR THE 1355221 time AND FROM THE OTHER SIDE (office) WAS INSURED THAT ALL INSTRUCTIONS WERE TAKEN UNDER CONSIDERATION AND A SUITABLE VEHICLE IS ON THE WAY !!! So here we are getting to the point where i ask the RAC TO book a taxi FOR ME so i can get to the location of the accident which is AN HOUR DRIVE FROM MY HOME ADRESS!!! The taxi DOESNT COME AT THE CONFIRMED AT 1st time frame of booking , I wait another 30 mins on top of the 20 mins suggested in the booking and still nothing !!! I call the office asking what is taking so long and GUESS WHAT ?? The booking has been cancelled as THEY WERE BUSY 😞 When i asked why was i supposed to find out by calling YOU THat the booking was cancelled i got NO ANSWER IN RETURN !!! After another hour i FINALLY GOT A TAXI TO THE LOCATION OF ACCIDENT !!!! On my way i had a call from the office that a suitable vehicle will be at the location waiting for me which i taught at the time is a relief … but NOT FOR LONG !!! When i got there I SEE A SMALL LORRIE LORRIE WITH A PLATFORM WAITING FOR TO RESCUE ME … the guy tried his best but his EQUIPMENT FAILED TO EVEN START THE AID …. When i asked him what happened to the 4x4 he answreenthat he WASNT TOLD THAT A 4x4 was needed as they dont get info about details , they just receive a breakdown call …. So shortly after he got in the lorrie he said that he is going back to base with is MEDWAY , i asked WHAT ABOUT ME ?! And he said i should call the office !!! I did call the office and GOT NO ANSWER !!!! I had no transport back to my home (i was brought by a taxi from LONDON , the location is UCKFIELD SUSSEX 1 HOUR DRIVE FROM MY HOME !!! NOBODY CALLED ME BACK TO ASK IF I AM OK !!!! Today which is on the next day i RECEIVE A MESSAGE FROM R A C ASKING FOR A FEEEDBACK WELL HERE IS MY FEEDBACK : R A C USELESS WHEN IT COMES TO RESCUE

If no stars was an option - I’d pick it! First time using RAC today. Absolutely shocking service from RAC today. I got locked out of my car and was told it would be a couple of hours wait - sure that’s fine, I did explain I am a domiciliary carer that visits very vulnerable clients so need my car back ASAP - they said I’d be put on the priority list. All was fine. I got the regular updates and waited the ‘couple of hours’ in my mind a couple means 2. The 3 hour mark hit and still no sign - I called up and was told to refer back to the text messages, 3 hours turned into 4, then 5, then 6…I was absolutely freezing cold and only had the “we’re sorry you’ve had to wait” texts - I then had no more updates. The app then updated to say they’d be out TOMORROW MORNING!!!! Absolutely shocking. What’s the point in having breakdown cover if they don’t come out. Another customer leaving the shocking service. So today was a waste of my time and a days worth of money not earned.

Genuinely appalling service. I have a blow out on A14 and the RAC refused to assist as I hit a pothole. This was the first and last time I will use their service and have cancelled my direct.debit.

Unfortunately I had the misfortune of signing up with RAC and suffered 2 breakdowns. First was in winter broke down away from home it was 3 degrees outside and had to wait 4 hours for attendance . 2 nd breakdown was at home today following 5 hour wait I was called and asked if they could come tomorrow ?! , I kind of needed to be somewhere today hence why I went to drive my vehicle and have work in the morning. Will I take a day unpaid off work to wait around for a second day for you to not attend ? Sorry no. So an hour later I get a call saying a local partner will attend. 6 hours after my call . They do send a lovely txt every half an hour saying they are sorry ect. But your custom is not as important as responding to non contract customers where they can double up on profits.

The operation is an evident scam. Operating under the RAC logo, it is badly missold by car supermarkets, then when the clients try to claim Assurant - formerly The Warranty Group - does everything they can to dodge responsibility. The dillution of who is responsible for what is unbelievable. We were incorectly sold their 'warranty' in 2019, the vehicle failed and after taking it to their recommended garage it has been nothing but problems: the garage could not fix the car, after spending £3k with them we ended up at BMW with a bill of nearly another grand. the car is still not right. Assurant declined the claim because in their opinion their appointed surveyors - ACE - determined that teh car failed because of natural wear and tear. this is in their fine print, and they practically have an option to decline all claims this way. When I proved that the ACE report is full of errors, and ACE issued a letter of apology, they demanded taht they do another inspection - of the parts salvaged - because the car has been reassembled. This report speculatively said that the engine failed as a result of natural end of life of individual parts. This included a cracked timing chain cover (!). it is nothing but a scam which begins at the dealers who systemically missell this 'product' by omitting important terms and conditions, and by providing evidently false information. when challenged about this Assurant claims that 'they have no influence how third parties sell their product', then goes through forcing people to go to 'recommended garages' who are often shoddy setups with unqualified mechanics, to clauses in the contract shedding all responsibility from Assurant. RAC is only the front brand and has no clear connection. Stay away from these fraudsters, you're better off giving your miney to a Nigerian Prince.

This company are truly an utter scam and disgrace. They make up their own stipulations subject to the actual day you call them . They’ll tell you you can’t have a certain service even though on a previous call out they’ve actually offered that very same service . I would rather push my broken down vehicle off a cliff than call these thieves and dishonest scammers . I’ve only got a few more months direct debit payments to pay then I’ll call GREENFLAG who have got amazing feedback and reviews . As for you office based phone line staff , hope you sleep well knowing that you have made helpless children and parents with pets suffer in freezing conditions due to YOUR lies and actions . And your bosses only care about their own bank balance so you can attend as many staff party’s and think your all one big RAC family but in reality when you all get let go , you’ll be crying your eyes because you was lied to just like the poor children who YOU have caused suffering to !!! RAC = Real Arrogant Cu**s !!

f there was a choice of no stars I… If there was a choice of no stars I would have picked that. Guy picked me up & car but refused to take me to my usual garage as he said roads are too windy. I asked him to take me home & got the same answer. He took me to a garage of his choice. Upon arrival the two receptionist ladies had no idea he was bringing us yet he’s supposed to forewarn them. By this time he had already parked my car in their car park blocking in several of their cars. They said they can’t fix the car as they wasn’t expecting us. The RAC guy drove off even after me asking him to take me home which was only a few streets away. The garage told us they are closing & we need to move the car as they are locking the gates & we are blocking the other cars. Literally begged the RAC guy to help us & he refused. I said I’ll call the head office but he was smarmy & said what the F*** are they going to do? They don’t tell me what to do, he smirked & that’s when he drove off & left. The garage people were disgusted & we all had to push the car onto the main road, leave it over night & the next day I had to pay private for a tow guy who was also disgusted in how I had been treated. Emailed RAC & they have accepted that we was treated correctly. This was all a few days before Xmas too. It’s now April and this is how long I’ve been waiting for, for answers & got no where ~ tried getting a refund too ~ AVOID!

DO NOT EVER USE My daughter broke down m5 services Friday 1st 1600hrs took over 4hrs and a call from dad to get mechanic there ,he turned up ,useless ,,,looked at car checked fluids reved car few times ,said don't know call transport ,my daughter done better car check ,he didn't even plug in fault code reader,eventually recovery turned up took them 23miles to next service station M42 saying another recovery will take them rest of way ,,,guess what ,no recovery was told leave car there and taxi home to Norwich,daughter said no as you're insurance then void ,she was asked what room she wanted for hotel then till arrangements made for recovery , anything would do ,1hr later another call ...what room would you like 😠😠 eventually taxi ETA 0410hrs this is now 12hrs later,..0445 no taxi ,,called to be told oh taxi cancelled we didn't rebook another oops..0600hrs daughter actually at a hotel now 14hrs later from 1st call Daughter still waiting DO YOU FIND ACCTEPTABLE TO LEAVE 2 ,19YEAR OLDS GIRLS LIKE THIS,,,,I DONT ,LETS SEE WHAT THE CEO OF RAC HAS TO SAY ABOUT THIS CAUSE I WANT ANSWERS

I broke down last Sunday and had to wait 7 hours for recovery! Ok so I wasn’t on a motorway, but still at a busy junction in my town and had to restart my engine to move to a side road with a throttle not working properly! Nightmare, longest wait ever RAC!
