“BOUGHT A Puegeot 2008 had two services done by Arnold Clark Kilmarnock took the car to an independant garage in Fenwick Kilmarnock and told me that the oil and oil filter had never been changed. I spoke to the sales person Johnie Walker at the time i bought the 3008 and he said if i had any issues to go and speak to him but he has moved to another garage as a manager.
Now bought and have a Peuegeot 3008 had two services done by Arnold Clark Kilmarnock. I took the car to an independant garage Today 28th December and was told that the oil and oil filter had never been changed on this car as well.
The garage is next door to Arnold Clark Peugeot Kilmarnock called Drivers and i went in to see the Manager about this coincidence. Got a sales person and then the manager.
Called both other Garage mechanics liars and said he had every faith in his work shop which seems unbelievable as he is the sales manager.”
“My partner purchased a car from Arnold Clark last year, along with an MOT and service plan for 2 years. A year later and they didn’t contact her to arrange the MOT, so she had book it in last minute at a local garage, as the Arnold Clark garage didn’t have any availability whatsoever. They advised that they would add an extra year to the service plan. Since then there has been no confirmation of this at all. In addition to this the local Arnold Clark is being closed down and they’ve advised the only option is to take it to the Lookers dealership. We have since sent a complaint email to customer services advising that we want to cancel the plan as it’s not what we agreed to when we took it out (the lookers garage is not convenient at all) but they’ve refused. The customer service has been shocking up until now and wouldn’t recommend taking out any service plan with them. They’ve agreed to fix an issue with the parking mechanism before their dealership closes, but the fact they won’t cancel the service plan since we can’t even get it done at their garage anymore is incredibly frustrating! Unless they magically turn around and say they’d refund the plan, I’d say AVOID!”
“I purchased a car in September 2020 from the Preston branch. As we were driving from two hours away we asked for a video of the car showing any details of scratches on it, the video looked brill so we went ahead. We did a part-exchange for my car, which was 6 months older and in PERFECT condition. When we arrived, the car had multiple scratches and damaged to the plastic centre console, it was annoying we were lied to after traveling so far. After expressing my views, we exchanged anyway, I had been looking for the perfect car for months and luckily my brother-in-law could get me work discounted for body work repair. After around 6 months I took my car to a body work specialist due to some damage to my boot, after it was cleaned I was informed that the paint from my alloys had started to ware off. Not wanting to accuse the cleaner or Arnold Clark, I took it to an alloy specialist who informed my that the alloys had been touched up and they had done a really bodge job. My car had previously been a pool car owned by Arnold Clark, so after making a phone call I was in conversation with an extremely rude man, who basically told me, my car, my fault, shouldn't of had it cleaned. So the repair job for my alloys cost me hundred's to fix. They are absolute cowboys and I would never trust them again. They really are liars and useless and I'm the idiot who has paid them 17k for a car!!”

“Booked car in 3 weeks ahead at Seafield branch. Got text and email confirming booking, but on the day they said car was not booked in. They said they would squeeze car in to get health check costing £132… shocking! Dropped car off Sun day for work to begin Monday morning. I told them it needed rear brakes and discs.
Parts were ordered for battery/turbo issue ans well and work was to be carried out on Thursday. Parts came in Thursday morning and I Phoned Thursday afternoon, no work had started but would get it done Friday. The car had now been in 5 days.
I phoned on Friday, work was not going to be carried out to the following Tuesday because mechanic was on annual leave. What an absolute joke!
I went to pick up the car. The whole process has been nothing short of disgraceful, very poor customer service and communication throughout. No courtesy car available for longer stay. How do they expect people to go to work.??
Unlike Arnold Clark I have high standards and provide quality service in my job.
How things have changed. I will never be using Arnold Clark again and suggest to others to do the same.”

Aircon went on car 2mth after purchasing and had to pay for a new compressor. In the past year it has been in 4 times since with the aircon not working. They top it up with coolant and say they can't find what is wrong. This time they want over £300 again for new aircon. It's a joke as it has never been fixed in the first place. After I complained they said the service manager would investigate. But they haven't. They are taking hard working peoples money and not doing their job. Please please do not use this company. Zero stars”

“I bought my car last December from Arnold Clark.. this was my first time buying my own car since I started driving and had been saving up for around 2 years!
I was looking at a VW polo and the guy that was dealing with me would call me every day from when I had enquired about it….. and I was also bombarded with emails about the car!
I was excited so decided to go for a look, and I was 19 at the time and a bit naive so I’m more than certain the salesman took full advantage of that.
Anyways I took the car for a test drive and didn’t notice anything at first apart from the fact that the passenger window would not go down at all, not to mention I wouldn’t exactly know what to look for as I don’t really know very much about cars in general!
I asked the salesman if it was in perfect working order and he told me confidently that it was and had been “dealt with by their best mechanics……”
I took his word for it and bought the car for £5.2k out right..
Fast forward 2 days I go to drive back home from my partners house and I start hearing a strange noise as if something is clicking and stuck to the break.
And a red light appeared on the dash board!
My dad told me to book it in so I did, and this is when all the trouble started!
To cut a long story short, they had me travel lots of mileage and take time off work to try get my car “fixed” and they messed me around constantly, anytime I tried to phone them I could barely get a hold of them or I would be put on hold for ages! I travelled in one day (35miles for me just to get there) and they waited till I arrived to then tell me that they had ordered the wrong part for the problem!!!!!!!
They told me they would compensate £15 of my fuel but never ever did.
And for about 2 months I struggled with them to get my car fixed…
The management was absolutely no help at all either and seemed to just dismiss my concerns. This totally ruined my first experience of buying my own car and has made me super paranoid about buying a car in the future from anywhere!
The only bright side is that now I know a lot more about cars 😅
I really believe that they will try take advantage of anyone if they think they can get away with it, but especially young first time drivers that don’t know much..
My advice is DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. 110% not worth the hassle.
Not to mention a lot of their workers are just super fake and just want your money.
They simply do not care about quality customer service.”
“Bought a newish car in good faith of their online website stated as great condition went back after with stopstart not working brakes warped and eventually a new gearbox fitted , cigarette burns in upholstery, was supplied with hire car , unfortunately the car now is leaking oil from timing case and head gasket will not supply me with a replacement car this time , stating their costs too high ,however its me forking out for travel now as theyve had my car 6 weeks out of nine came back with a dent in the door that i had to argue to get fixed , no communication when car is in unless i chased for an update , they say the car passed through the work shop before i got it , i think stevey wonder looked at it, they seem to roll the dice with issues hoping people wont spot them , unfortunately for them im an ex mechanic, never again will i deal with this company , ive lost all trust in them and the car I didn’t even want to give them one star”
“Will never buy from Arnold clark again very long story but has brought a car from them in May 19 plat so 3 years old within 3 days I had to phone as air con was not working and drive shaft was broke which lead to a gear box change too as the drive shaft had burnt out gear Box they had my car for 7 weeks at this point I had only had this car for 2 weeks if that ! Luckily it was still under watentee however since having it back the knocking noise is still there but I work all week and arnold clark aren't open on weekends so it's took me abit of time to bring car back up however they were aware and told me it will still be covered under warrantee becuase it's the original problem .. I have recently brought it back up and now needs a top mounts replacing let's hope it hasn't caused further damage but also now I'm expected to pay for it!!! Even though its the original problem.. 7 weeks you had my car I lost out on £1000 holiday that I've not been able to recieve my money back for and left with a dodgy car that I've paid high end price for ! I have spoke to multiple people and I get told nothing except what I already no and organised myself no help no compensation nothing it's utterly disgusting the money I have lost for buying from Arnold clark and it is still continuing to loose money.. taking no responsibility!!”

“Where do I start? After getting my car from seafield Edinburgh, along with 3 year service and MOT it has been one thing after another. First the timing belt went, the car was stil under warranty fortunately, I took it to my nearest garage. They got the part needed and Arnold Clark advised they would pay as it was under warranty. It took weeks to get fixed, the wrong part came etc. I'm a community nurse, Arnold Clark wouldn't give me a courtesy car, even though they are a massive company, even after explaining I'm a NHS nurse, working through the pandemic, the small independent back street garage did though, thank fully. The second MOT and service with Arnold Clark, it failed on the petrol cap not working properly, it was sold to me like that, we never gave it much thought initially, it had past the first-year MOT, so £120 for that part, few wks later the engine light came on, took it to the nearest garage, the garage asked when it was last serviced as there was hardly any oil in the car? It was a matter of a few weeks that I had been at Arnold Clark to get it serviced and MOTed for the second year. Took it back to Arnold clark they couldn't find a fault, or any oil leak. Today went for my last service and MOT to be told my service plan had expired, they then told me I had used my 3 years MOT and service, then after much debate they relented and said it was a clerical error. Then after waiting 4 hours and 20 minutes to be told my car had failed it's MOT and they can't fix it today, I was now in tears explaining I need my car as I'm a nurse. I've already had to take the day off, To be told, sorry there are no courtesy cars. I asked for the car back , I would take it elsewhere. My car is booked at an independent garage, first thing they said "why would you ever go to Arnold Clark? ", My thoughts exactly. Never, ever again. Never get a car from Arnold Clark, their customer service is dire!!!”
“On collection of a Q2 front suspension springs failed after one mile taken it back in right away to be told what do you expect it’s a used car!! Even after a week prior there was a noise that would be checked over before a customer collection??? What a joke avoid at all costs”
“Arnold clark ford Kilmarnock, Kenny Patterson almost sold me an Audi Q2 on the condition that the noise I heard on the test drive would be fixed on collection. Waited a week drove out the garage and the front suspension collapsed! So took it back to kenny where he told me ‘it’s not a brand new car’ these things happen to older cars. I then stressed i waited a week but was unsure what for and felt unsafe and provided me with an unsatisfactory service. He then told me it’s not a ‘Rolls Royce that your buying’. The attitude and lack of sympathy for the situation was absolutely appalling that even the customers next to us were shocked! Customer service at its worst here avoid!!!”
“Aviod at all cost piad £14200 for a second hand car supposed to be in "pristine condition" first lie,noticed a crack on a lower o/s trim panel and trim hanging off under car took it back and told they would order the damaged part and do repairs picked car up and drove home only to notice trim part still hanging down and on further inspection lower grill panel now not connected to anything ,disgraceful shody repair ,have since had someone check under car for me as i am unable to do this due to disability,and informed there is broken trim ,fixings missing and smashed engine gaurd which explains other repairs i was told were needed to car
before i collected it.for clarity to readers of this review this is Arnold Clarck Vauxhall Linwood .Also on purchase of car was told I would have 2 years free service and mot yet all the documentation sent with car says I declined to pay for this and dont have it and every time i ask about this just get fobbed off, I was warned about buying a car from Arnold Clark should have heeded warnings ,I will not be returning car to Linwood Vauxhall for any more work as i would not trust them to even pump up tyres never mind carry out work on car .So I thank you if you have persevered to the end of this review just wish I had taken heed of all warnings
