1 Start is too generous! This business needs to be shut down and the owners locked down. They stole money from me charging me ten times more than the original fee and gave me a very hard time. Unfortunately I am not the only one, sadly they have been robbing honest people traveling from around the world since years! The one star reviews, Channel 4 broadcast, BBC, Guardian, The Sun, and much more say it all! They also pay for 5-star reviews on various website which are clearly and obviously fake! Is there no rule of law? Why is this business still operating! Why are companies collaborating with this business? This has to stop now!

TOTAL SCAM!! DO NOT RENT AT GREEN MOTION!! On this website only 4% of the reviewers recommend Green Motion. Here is another extremely unsatisfied ex customer. We hired a car at Green Motion, Lefkada airport. I paid € 1,549.40 consisting of the rent (€ 557.40) and deposit (€ 992). Before leaving an employee and my family walked around the car. She made tiny marks on a form with the visible damages that were all black spots as it’s a white car. This took her a few seconds. She told us not to worry, al would be fine. It was an used and older car. On 18 August 2020 I returned the car. Another employee walked around the car and pointed to something at the bottom of the car which he thought was a damage. I responded that this was not a damage and certainly not caused by me. He didn't react to that, then went inside to get the forms in order. So I assumed it was okay. While I was waiting was astonished to see on my phone an email that came in, from which I noted that € 439 of the deposit had been withheld. The attached specification of the alleged damage was inadequate. I protested heavily against this because I definitely did not cause any damage and the charging of any amount was not discussed at all. However, the employee in question indicated that it would stay that way. He was not going to change the amount. After a fierce discussion, I left because otherwise I would miss my plane. On the plane I came to the conviction that: 1. if I would have caused the damage, there would have been white lacquer off and black spots would have been visible, just as with other damage already present on July 28 2. if this is a damage, the damage was previously repainted with white lacquer (reason it was not visible as a damage by a non-expert) without repairing the damage itself 3. because the other damages already present were black and the employee pointed out these damages to us, we didn't pay attention to a kind of dent which one seemed not to be able to see easily that would be a damage 4. the costs are not substantiated and are far too high. See a photo of visible damages and a photo of the alledged damage underneath the car. At home a again strongly contested with not fully paying back the deposit and requested full payment of the deposit of € 992. Green Motion of course only refuses. If you want to avoid beeing ripped off and end your holidays well, DO NOT RENT A CAR AT GREEN MOTION!!

Do not discount the negative reviews they are an unscrupulous operation and will rip you off. I have been hiring cars for over 25 years for at least 30 days per year with no issues ever. I did the mistake to go to them despite the reviews. Upon return of the car while expecting a typical sign off, their guy was out of my sight for a few minutes on the other side of the car. Then he presented me with a scratch. I did the mistake of not taking pictures of the car before returning – make sure you do that. Although minor, they asked for the whole deposit 1205£ + 75£ fee. They eventually returned half of that, just keeping a hefty amount for a minor scratch, according to their own predetermined fee schedule. I have no issue taking responsibility for anything I might have caused. I doubt this being real and I see their charges as unjustified and overblown. This was the Edgeware Road branch inside Hilton. I cannot believe they are permitted to operate, shameful. Never again.

Don’t go there! We got to London Gatwick airport hoping to get the shuttle bus to them and we waited for hours. Every time we called them, they always used the ‘same excuse’ to delay the shuttle bus. Our morning was ruined!!!! Never come back again and we advise whoever is traveling don’t use them unless you want to waste your whole day on your holiday!!!!

Beware scammers I rented a Green Motion car from London Stansted for a week in September last year, the vehicle was checked and signed off when I returned it. More than 6 months later I was hit with a bogus excess mileage charge. I have tried to contact them, but they do not respond to my e-mails. I have now had to open a time consuming dispute with my bank.

they are scam merchants. we picked up a car (in the dark) and checked it as best we could. drove it 15 miles where it then sat on a driveway for 4 days (1 x 20 mile journey in that time), then drove it back , to be told we had scuffed the front nearside alloy, absolute rubbish, i can hand on heart honestly say that i did not scuff the alloy and that the £160 payment was daylight robbery. the staff member who came out to check the car went straight to the wheel in question when checking the car. there was no damage or scuffing to the tyre in question which says to me it was an old scuff that they claim for multiple times.... will not be using them again.

Collecting the rental car from GreenMotion was a painful and time consuming exercise. The worst experience ever, and I have rented cars all over Europe and the USA. It took over an hour between arriving at the car hire portacabin on Monday 20th July and getting the keys to the rental. The low light was being asked what I did for a living and asking for my National Insurance number (which I did not know) to ascertain if I had any points on my driving license as it would effect my insurance , this despite the fact that I already had Insurance booked through CarJet. We ended the 40 min impasse by me providing my American Driving License. This did the trick so no cares about my driving record in America !! During this whole time I had to listen to the senior staff member (there were only two) berating a customer for not reading the small print and having agitated the customer sufficiently then got on his high horse as the customer had used an expletive in a sentence. This set off alarm bells as did being informed that I should inspect the car carefully for damage before hiring it. You are made to feel like a criminal. We were presented with a leaflet (attached) providing a guide to assist your vehicle inspection. It specifically highlighted the Front Bumper, Wheels, Windscreen, Parking Dents, Tyres and Rear Bumper. The Green Motion Vehicle Check guide did not mention the roof, the undercarriage or indeed the clutch!! Having been given the keys to the rental car we then spent 10 mins looking for it. We found it in a loose gravel surfaced compound next to the car park beyond the car washing area. The car had a fine coating of dust on it (I guess from the loose gravel surface). We inspected the car as best we could based on the vehicle check guide, taking photographs as advised, and could see no obvious damage to concern us. We drove from the Holiday Inn, Jct 4 M4, to Leigh in Kent. The car was parked for 4 days on our drive before driving it back to the Holiday Inn. A 110 mile round trip. On arriving back at the Green Motion portacabin on Thursday 23 July we parked the car. We then went to see a member of staff. The one available, of the two working, was clearly new as he didn’t know anything about the return process. The other member of staff was having to guide him through the process whilst dealing with his own customer. The experienced staff member said he would be out shortly to inspect the car. We thought that everything would be fine until he asked if we had taken photos of the roof. I was stunned as I had never heard of such nonsense. This was before he even started looking at the roof. It was as if he was planting a seed. He then proceed to suggest that we had put scratch marks on the roof. On closer inspection and through the light coating of dust I could discern some individual marks, so insignificant that I would ordinarily not see such items. I felt as if I was being set up by this employee in some form of insurance scam. The marks look like they would have been caused by someone cleaning the car as they were arched as opposed to straight and they were in different parts of the glass roof. Clearly I hadn’t cleaned the car. The only person to have cleaned the car would have been GreenMotion themselves. I was incensed at the suggestion that I had ‘scratched’ the roof. On balance, if GreenMotion had wanted me to check the roof they should have provided a step ladder and preferably a clean surface. I am not tall enough to see the whole roof of the car. The member of staff said he would be passing his assessment to the department that deals with such things and they would decide what to do next. They are trying to charge 530 pounds to my credit card. I will never use GreenMotion ever again after this experience and would urge others by whatever means possible to avoid using them at all costs.

As nobody should be victim of fraud, everyone should be aware. I wouldn't recommend green motion to any one. Especially Green Motion Heathrow. If you decide for any reason to rent with them make sure you take pictures of all documents and parts of the car you are renting as the staff will find a damage on the car that you haven't caused to take money from you. If you from abroad there is a big chance to be victim of this fraud. I experience it and been informed that it's frequently happening. It is better to pay a bit more with another car rental company as will end up pay a lot more with them. Contacting their customer services will be a wasre of time and won't be helpful to you. It's seems like the company is training their staff to make money by any means which is sad. The value of this company is scary. I am not surprised of know why customers doesn't rent with them again after their first experience.

Extremely rude represantive, demonstrating the lack of empathy the overall company has. Booking a car via your website and paying for it upfront, it came out that I couldn't use the car because I didn't have a credit card. Imagine that I have all of my documents with me, even a debit car to uise for a deposit, but the campany failed to offer my any alternative. On top of that, they suggested that if i wanted to use the car, I should pay £150 no refundable for it. Lack of transparency with a lot of hidden costs, leaves me no option but to be very unsatisfied. I now realize why companies like zipcar thrives. You aim for the short term gain, since you took my money but you didn't let me use the car. I am wondering how long your company will last with this cryptic behavior.

Definitely a scam!! Choose another company! Unethical and misleading business practice Charged us 795 gbp (400 gbp after the completely useless insurance) for a scratch which may have been there before rental. On collection, staff failed to mark existing damage on the rental agreement - I remember they did not go over the entire car properly and skipped the side with the scratch on purpose. On return, staff checked over the car looking for the tiniest blemish. Also, the normal charge for the scratch of 795 gbp is utter BS. You can get that fixed for 150 gbp max at any shop. Please please please avoid this company!! Hope they get their karma.

This company is out to get car users, please do not hire with them, we had an awful experience with them magically finding a practically invisible dent and charging £300. Since our encounter with them I discovered their awful business practice has been heavily covered in the media and tv shows, they have been dropped from a reputable hire website however they were still listed on the comparison site which we used. We went through our credit card company who reviewed the evidence and we have not had to pay the £300 charge so please do dispute with your credit card companies if you too have been wronged by them. If you must use them then keep all your documentation and do not sign anything until the car is brought to you, insist on a member of staff checking the car with you before leaving and even in that case take photos. These photos are what I had to prove the dent was existing at the time of collection, but green motion claimed they couldn’t see it in the pictures therefore I had to escalate using section 75 of the credit consumer act.

I have rented the car at Greenmotion Leicester City Centre branch. Upon returned this guy inspected the car in each and every details and noted down the damaged that already there. Before I went to pick up the car, one of the staff have just showed me the existed damaged and because I have young children in other car, I have to take his word for it. Little I know, they take advantage of a woman. Not to mention I am quite short so I did not inspected the car roof. And surprise surprise, there are a deep scratch on top of the roof that I did not know it was there. It probably there already before I even pick up the vehicle. There are about 3 peoples that been through same situation as me when I dropped the vehicle off. They are scam all of us 3 peoples. I did not even going to think it happen to me as well, I have read many bad reviews. STAY CLEAR FROM THEM. THEY ARE SCAM AND WHEN YOU PAY THE DAMAGED IS GO TO THEIR POCKET AS A BONUS FOR SCAMMING PEOPLE. WHEN YOU SEE A BAD REVIEW, PLEASE USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. TAKE BLOODY PICTURE OF THE CAR NEXT TIME!!!

Avoid Green Motion when hiring a car. In my case, Green Motion at Manchester Airport attempted to get me to purchase unnecessary comprehensive car insurance by (a) first stating that they could not release my pre-paid car to me based on none of my three licenses meeting their requirements, then (b) changing that statement to saying they would release the pre-paid car to me only if I purchased their insurance, which cost twice as much as my pre-paid car hire. I refused and walked out. After filing complaints with Green Motion multiple times, Green motion refused to refund my pre-payment, so I filed a complaint with my credit card company, who refunded me the total amount of my pre-payment. Subsequently I've read hundreds of consumer complaints about Green Motion on multiple websites/review sites, as well as newspaper articles that reported on Green Motion's practices.

A perfect example how corporations can scam and be openly discriminating to you and get away with things. I paid in advance for a 2 day car rental from London airport. When i was booking, I checked the name of countries they accept a driving license from. India was on that list and I went ahead with it. On the day of booking I arrive at their office and from the first interaction their tone was insulting. I just wanted to get the car and be on my way, so listened to whatever they were saying. Then they asked more my documents. I gave them my Indian drivers license and they kept it for a few minutes and then said they cannot give me the car. I asked for the reason and i was told this is because they do not understand the format of the document (Document was in English). I showed them on the internet that this is what the government issues. To which i got shouted at saying they will not give me the car. I told them if they do not accept a document from a country then they should mention it on their site. Their tone to every reply was insulting and rude. At the end i had to move on as i had no choice. I asked them for a refund since they refused to give me the car. At that point they agreed and asked me to make a refund claim online. When i made an online claim they refused saying i should ask for a refund 48hr prior to date of pick up. I explained them the whole story and they came back with "You document was faded and hence we could not issue you the vehicle" This incident is from Dec 2016 , I still do not have my refund. Which was nothing but a Lie given that i still have that document with me and every single text on it is crystal clear. Either they find a new way to scam every tourist or they discriminate people based on their country of origin. But i would recommend everyone to avoid this company no matter how good a deal they give you. At the end they will take the extra money off you or treat you like garbage.

In January of this year I hired a car from Green Motion's branch at Manchester Airport for a short three day period. When I collected the car the rep pointed out a scrape on one of the alloy wheels and when I checked around the car quickly I didn't notice any other damage so accepted it as it was and made the first mistake of not taking photographic evidence of every panel of the car in fine detail. I have hired cars quite a few times over the years and found it unnecessary to record anything other than existing visible damage. I then made the second mistake of not going around with a fine toothcomb to find every miniscule blemish on the car but as I thought I'd looked it over pretty well I believed there was nothing more to do. How wrong I was. When I returned the car another rep inspected it and drew my attention to a miniscule windscreen chip close to the nearside pillar and well outside the swept area of the screen and a small depression near the edge of the roof, just behind the B-pillar, so small I could barely see it even close up. I protested at the time that there was no way either of these occurred while the vehicle was in my charge and was told not to worry about it but put my belief in writing anyway. A few days later I was shocked to receive an invoice for £1205, being the standard excess, and a copy of their damage matrix which I immediately challenged. Having been in the motor trade and industry for 50 years I have a good knowledge of repair methods and costs and knew that the dent could be repaired for well under £100. Another invoice followed with an estimate from their "approved repairer" which reduced the charge to just over £760, still about ten times the true cost of repair. Due to the fact that I had no proof that the damage did not occur while I had the car (a mistake I won't make again) I accepted that I would have to pay and offered to have the repair carried out by a qualified and reputable specialist at my expense and their convenience but this was turned down flat. I offered to pay a realistic amount of £100, providing quotations and credentials from the specialists but this too was turned down. I escalated my concerns to the local, then national, customer service departments with no joy, then took my concerns to the industry's dispute resolution service who, despite having guidelines on types of repair which supported my claims, said that they couldn't rule in my favour because they "are unable to discuss the repair costs and as Green Motion are entitled to choose their repairing garage as the owner of the vehicle, the BVRLA does not dispute the repair charges". So I am stuck with being cheated out of £760 for damage which I know I am not responsible for and can't afford to take legal action against them. Shortly after this, and unaware that it was the same company, my wife also hired a car from a different branch of Green Motion and had issues with them which were fortunately resolved but not without threatening action. This company systematically cheat their customers with overpriced repairs and other charges to the extent that ALL specialist insurance companies providing car hire excess cover exclude rentals from Green Motion but cover hiring from ALL other UK companies. What does this tell you?

The retail of the car went smoothly, the car was good, but the return was different. When I picked up the car it was wet as it was freshly washed. When I pulled into the car park I saw the car in being grilled over like I have never seen before. straight away it didn't look good. When it came to my turn they found a tiny tiny dent on the wheel rim that I hadn't spotted as it was wet when I picked it up. It was parked on a private drive for three day without moving and only I drove the car. I had to pay 90 pounds and it had the stink of a scam all over it. I will never use them again.

Green Motion are crooks. They charged me over £600 for a scratch I didn’t cause. It was under the front bumper, so I never noticed it when I picked up the car, but I know with 100% certainty that I did not cause the damage. Then they charged me £52.50 for a tank of petrol even though I handed the car back with a full tank. I have contacted them several times, and today they say it’s too long ago!!!! My advice is to never, ever deal with this company. They are real crooks.

It looks like I am just one of many very unsatisfied "customers" of Green Motion Car Hire. I had a rental reservation for a pick up at East Midlands Airport on Friday 7th February at 7:00pm. I received the confirmation and on arrival at the airport I called the telephone number for the "free shuttle service" given on the confirmation email. However, the call went directly to voice mail. I tried several times but on each occasion it was the same - voice mail. I waited about half an hour with no sign of anyone from Green Motion. So eventually I decided to get a taxi to the Hilton Hotel, Lockington, Derby where Green Motion have their pick up location, however the Green Motion desk at the hotel was in total darkness with nobody around. So I was left with no alternative but to go back to East Midlands Airport and try to rent a car from a more reputable company and I was able to get a car from Enterprise Car Rental. The following day, Saturday 8th at around 10:00am, I called Green Motion on the telephone number given and guess what!! Yes, voice mail. Upon returning home to Spain, I sent an email to Green Motion and told them what happened and you would expect that any reputable company would offer an apology and as a gesture of goodwill reimburse my out of pocket expenses, i.e. the two taxi fares to and from the Hilton Hotel amounting to £26.40. But no. Green Motion lay the blame on me for my flight being delayed by half an hour and me not informing them of this. They had all my flight details and could have monitored the flight just as all the other car rental companies I have used in the past do and so would know of any delays. I had numerous exchanges of emails with their customer services people but to no avail. So all I can say about Green Motion is that they cannot be relied on to deliver the service that had been booked and what is worst is that they seem to have no concept of good customer care. Bottom line - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE USE GRREN MOTION!! Stick with more reputable companies such as Enterprise, Avis, Hertz, etc. You may end up paying a little bit more but you can rely on good service.
