Bought a battery for my car from them. Then they tell me they can not fit to my model, too complicated! So I paid a garage as i do not have the tool to program it. 3.5 years later it fails, i return it under its 5 year warranty. They claim nothing wrong. Manager arrogant. Told me start stop not working because of a window module (without testing anything). I have it tested elsewhere as they told me to (battery specialist). They tell me certain types of battery fail in a manner they will not fully charge either on or off the car. However they tested alternator and wiring, its fine. Halfords still don't believe it faulty, wont do anything. Write to all 5 directors, no reply Store at other end of the country call me but as I'm too far away just tell me to go back to the store I went to before. Local battery specialist tell me Halfords have no idea with modern batteries. I call Halfords customer services they say warranty does not cover it being used! End up giving up ! Battery fails completely. Have to buy a new one elsewhere MESSAGE TO HALFORDS, STICK TO SELLING CAR WASH AND WAX !!! lets see if you can get that right?

Got a motoring club membership costing £4.99 a month asked cancel in January 2024 my reason for cancelling to get the garage charges far to much & it's like monkeys with spanners, I went to another independent garage & get charged less

They need a system where you can contact the store directly going through their central system is a nightmare. Customer service should be top of their list it comes well down and if they don't improve there will be no Halfords in 5 years time

Scam company hide in the small print that you're tied down for 12 months after signing up fpr Halfords motoring club... A complete scam. And no option to cancel on their website

Tried to call my local store in Thetford, apparently the calls are now diverted to a customer support steam that aren’t in the actual store. All I wanted was to check the price of a battery with my Trade Card. Absolute waste of time, I checked the price without the card online and it was more expensive than my local independent shop. I won’t be returning to Halfords again.

Click and collect service did not work and the person I spoke to in the shop tried to tell me we had not ordered correctly, but they had taken the money from my account. The order was placed in the morning and online it said it would be available for collection in an hour, but at 5 in the afternoon it wasn’t available and they had just cancelled the service without letting us k ow and without refunding the money. Only after complaining and my 86 year old mum getting upset did someone offer a refund

i returned goods today and was not given my full amount of money back... vat what I paid for when purchasing the items was not returned . even the staff doesn't know where it goes ... its not about the money it's about everyone else that's been ripped off without knowing it... you can't just keep people's money ..... WRONG ON EVERY LEVEL . shame on you

I had a start/ stop battery fitted by Halfords a year ago, however the battery is dead. I was told by Halfords staff that I have to get the battery to the local shop to be checked out as they do not offer a mobile service. These batteries are complicated to change and was told to use YouTube as a guide. Terrible service. I left a review on google and a reply was given to contact Halfords to resolve this. This has not achieved anything as we were continually fobbed off. never use this company

Never again will i be using a service from them. I required a tyre and tracking done which when i arrived to be told i had ordered the wrong tyre. My own fault, hold my hands up to that. I told them to just refund me and i will sort it elsewhere. The manager told me i should recieve my money 3/4 days. Day 17 and still no refund and back and forth with them trying to get my money back. DO NOT USE!!

USELESS I ordered a car audio system with apple play, and a reversing camera, paid £750 in advance, was given a fitting date which was nearly 2 weeks away. Turned up for fitting after getting the day off work and they hadn’t got it.So just cancelled the whole thing. Now I have to wait up to 5 days for my money back, lost a full days wages and not a very happy customer. They had all my details, email phone number etc but didn’t even let me know in advance, so I could have not lost a days pay !! I have used Halfords for over 30 years but will not be returning even if I have to travel and is more expensive, this is not the way a large company should treat its customers. If you are going to use them I suggest you pay the smallest deposit you can, as it takes days to get your money back !!!!!! Date of experience: 15 June 2024

Visited Halfords at Marsh Mills Retail Park unit d, served by Darren or Dadren cant make out the name on the receipt but just felt I had to say what superb service I had, so very helpful and polite what a pleasure to go into a shop and be treated like they care thankyou so very much made the start to our day a very happy one Ken Rich.

Halfords braintree fitted a new stereo in my vehicle they asked me to take it in for a reverse camera assessment to check it was compatible they said Yes it Is compatible we need to book you in for the installation a month later I get my appointment for fitting I take the vehicle wait for 4 hours for the stereo to be fitted I get my vehicle back with the new stereo I start it up and straight away air bag light is on i put it in reverse to back out of there bay and no rear camera so I go back in he has another 2 hour look tells me I need another lead I then wait another month with no contact from halfords so I ring them and they say no lead has been ordered as far as we was aware it was all working fine so the manager agreed to order a new lead again 2 weeks past no contact so I call them they tell me they need to book it in for he new lead to be fitted I have to wait 3 weeks for the next availible appointment I then go in and wait another 4 hours they then tell me that hasn't worked so I ask the store manager so what now he admits liability its there mistake he offers to fit me a after market camera he tells me he will be in touch a couple of weeks past I call the store and they deny all knowledge of it but tell me they will be in contact 3 months have past and no contact from them I've rung them several times and just get we will call you back and get nothing I will never ever use halfords for anything ever again they are probably one of the worst company's out there staff are completely incompetent including managers and this online chat thing they do what a waist of time of all the stores shutting down I hope this one goes

I left a rear cycle wheel for my Cannondale at your York branch on 05/06/24 with the instructions to get a new wheel as mine was damaged and just swap the cassette onto the new one, but keep the old one for me as I hadn’t taken the reflectors off it. Your staff had to call me later with the cost as the lady serving me didn’t know the password to get a price out of the system or check stock. When I collected the wheel on 08/06/24 the old wheel had been disposed of and whilst the cassette had been swapped as requested a new inner tube and tyre had been fitted which was not requested. I also noted that the new tyre was 700C X 28 when I would normally use 700C X 25 and that whoever fitted it hadn’t even added the valve cap or lock ring to the inner tube, fortunately I have plenty of these. This I would just put down to being careless or lazy I had to take the wheel as it was needed, but I can see it being a problem in bad weather as the those extra 3mm on the tyre will bring it very close to rubbing on the rear mud guard. The rear wheel is also unbranded and I can find no trace of it on your website under 20196560565503550 or WLC7031 so it is impossible to do a price comparison on it and find out what others are charging in store or online. You do seem to have much cheaper wheels available online. Whilst I’m glad to be back on the road, I’m most displeased that extra parts have been supplied and fitted when not requested costing me £20 more than expected. Things are expensive enough without being ripped off for unrequested parts

Bought a Karcher Portable Shower for cleaning our dog after rambling!...it developed a pressure fault....contacted Halfords who gave me contact details for Karcher who authorised replacement and it was replaced by local Halfords store without any problems. Warranty reinstated from exchange date. Staff were brilliant as ever.👍

Dreadful service and customer care is appalling, booked a mobile windscreen repair, 2 mins before appointment get a call to say they’re not coming as the guy isn’t qualified to do the job I then asked so who is coming his reply, dunno you have to ring customer service, and then puts phone down, they took my money and my booking, absolutely appalling, Never will I use Halfords again

Truly among the worst customer experiences that l've ever had. I took a bike in for simple repairs and never heard back from them. I had to go back to check if the repairs had been completed and the bike was returned to me in a worst state than it was left with them and l was only given a partial refund. After raising a formal complaint through customer services, l was basically told to go back to the store manager and sort it out myself. I will NEVER use any Halfords service again.

A Masterclass in Messing Up My New Bike! (And Ignoring My Emails!) Absolutely awful experience with Halfords! I ordered online an eBike and accessories on May 1st and was told on May 6th it was ready for collection. However, just on May 11th, they informed me the bike's battery was defective and I had to wait another week for a replacement. This delay cost me £37.10 in extra transportation. When I finally went to pick up the bike on May 17th, it wasn't assembled as requested and promised on the website. The staff member, Ronnie, damaged the rear light during installation, causing a panel error. He promised to fix it but never followed up. I had to remove the faulty installation myself, and other parts were installed incorrectly or not at all. To top it off, I couldn't return unwanted items and ended up with a helmet that doesn't fit. Despite emailing customer service 11 days ago, I still have no resolution. This has been a complete nightmare. Avoid Halfords at all costs!

I purchased my boys bike for Xmas 2023 a Carrera fury after 3 weeks the fork broke they replaced it with another Carrera fury the same happened again after a week they then replaced it with a voodoo horde after 3 weeks the back bearing broke they said they would replace it when the bike came back the original bearing was still on it .it's been in 3 times since and now they're refusing to touch it Craig the manager at the Cwmbran store originally said it was wear and tear but now he's saying the bike as been abused my 12yr old son looks after this bike maticulously it's been a total nightmare my boy cannot enjoy days out with his friends and it's just so sad please do not put your children through this nightmare Halfords have said that the guarantee is void leaving us in limbo we just want our money back so we can get him a new bike but Halfords refuse. Also head office has taken the managers word on face value who has no evidence to support that this b ike has been missed. Will be pursuing through trading standards
