Tried twice to collect a parcel delivered by DPD, it was held to ransom for either a passport or drivers licence - I didn't have either just cards like the other shops accept. Explained not everyone holds a drivers licence or a passport plus Halfords are not border control and if a parcel can be left with a neighbour then why photo id?? What are they checking it against?? Anyway, DPD advised Halfords to get parcel sent back and use a different shop that wasn't so strict. Twice in one week that myself and my husband have been put off the Harlow branch - him through incorrect car advice. Will be going elsewhere in the future

Took my carrera kraken in to get a spoke replaced on rear wheel. When i collected my bike , granted the spoke had been replaced, but i found a wide range of faults that had occured in the time that they were in possession of my bike. Firstly the seat had been highered to its full extent which i found strange. On closer inspection i noticed that the dust cap and locking nut were missing from the rear wheel. A plastic holding clip which secures the brake cable to the top horizontal bar had been removed and i discovered that i had a slow puncture in BOTH tyres!!!! The bike would have probably been returned to me in better condition if i had asked my 4 year old nephew to fix it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Took my car in for MOT as there was a half price offer, it failed on rusting suspension arm bushes and ' dangerously ' high oil level. Took it to mechanic recommended by my family who said he wouldn't have failed it just given an advisory. £245 later I'd saved £27 on MOT. Went back to Halfords to book retest and booked free retest for yesterday , so took it in, signed paperwork and waited 20mins to be told that the ten day retest period ended the day before and I needed a full MOT. Quite why I wasn't told this when they booked it in I don't know. Feel like I have been taken for a ride throughout.

Went to Halfords Bolton branch today to have set of number plates made + fitted. It was raining and the young lad was adament the sticky pads would hold the new reg plates securely. He was also certain no need to bother to clean the area with the cleaning wipes as he'd been doing this for four years. The area were the plates were being fixed was still wet so I told him the pads wouldnt stick. He continued so the pad fell off. I unfortunately then told him that I f in told you they wouldn't stick....He then childishly ranted that I'd swore at him then ran in the store + disapeared. I was given no apology or explanation from the manager other than 'did I want to buy the plates without being fitted'. Im 63 yrs old and disabled and to be treated like this is disgraceful. Two staff members prior this incident was calling this young lad for his incompetence but it seems I had to accept his poor attempt of fixing adhesive pads to a wet surface. Pathetic. The actual plates are good but having them fitted at Halfords is NOT recommended. I had to pay £35.98 for two standard reg plates. Not cheap. Now I have to have them fitted elsewhere. Absolutely disgraceful + shoddy behaviour. Im disgusted with Halfords Bolton. Shame on you.

Sold an ex display bike found a chip in paintwork. Had to travel to cribbs 3 times for them to fix it. In meantime had problem with the chain jumping which chipped more paint work. Took into stroud branch they told me chain was fine. It was not. Now I've been holding on complaints after 3 attempts of caING in excess of 15 mins.

A terrible, very expensive visit to Halfords Autocentre in High Wycombe. They ere totally dishonest, rude and unprofessional. Customer service does not exist and it is impossible to complain and be heard. Will never go there again. A service and MOT which officially should have cost around £100 finally cost £900, following fabricated issues. Which has taught me a big lesson...stay away from Halfords.

Visited the Taunton store with a view to buying a Fitbit or something similar, eventually found what we were looking for as there were no staff to ask apart from the young lad on the till who was busy trying to serve about 5 people at once, hung around the product location hoping for a member of staff would eventually come over anyway they didn't so ask the lad on the counter for help and he said he would get someone, that someone who was wearing a bandana was serving someone so we waited a bit longer for him to finish, he finished and then to two of them proceeded to have a chat and we were forgotten about so at that point we left, coming from a store Management background I wonder sometimes if anybody from Head Office or higher Management ever visits these stores to see for themselves how badly they operate, still in 5 years time when they've all closed I hope that the Internet doesn't get the blame but it's clearly down to bad Management and poor staff recruiting.

What an absolutely dreadful company. My wife and I took our bikes to the Festival Park site in Stoke -on-Trent to be revamped and paid £300 for the work. Returning mine to deal with numerous punctures we were told by a technician there that the bike is unsafe because of the saddle and its clamp into the frame - "I wouldn't ride it" - and should not have been returned to us. After endless calls, the manager said the remedial work would be carried out free of charge but upon collection we are being asked to pay and the saddle still moves! The worst customer care I have ever experienced. Never, ever use Halfords.

Halfords trent Vale Stoke on trent. I recently visited this shop and I waited for 10 minutes at the till before paying for my item while staff just walked around. If I hadn't needed my item so bad I would have walked out . I wonder how many people have done that. I will be taking my business elsewhere in future. Bad customer service.

Had an MOT at halfords in a car with excellent brakes They failed the car on brake efficiency took it to a garage who said there was nothing wrong with the brakes they took it to another MOT centre who said the "car would pass every day of the week" took the car back to halfords for a retest telling them there was nothing wrong with the car according to the other MOT test centre and they passed it? Halfords customer care have refused to reimburse my costs at the garage. make your own conclusions

Ordered a bike to be ready for Friday afternoon ready for a weekend of cycling. Absolutely no contact to say by bike was ready - received an email and text saying goes they'd let me know when I could pick the bike up. Had to cancel my plans as no bike! Tried using their chat service to see what was going for on, was told they couldn't help me and I'd have go contact by local store. Thanks but will just order it somewhere else!

Wanted to purchase 2 or 3 cycle accessories from the Olive and Orange Orla Kiely range, which aren't cheap! None in my local store so checked online and no stock of the pannier bag I needed, tried phoning customer services for an hour but no answer so emailed and enquiry which they didn't respond to until the following week telling me what I knew already - they are out of stock!! No offer to let me know when it becomes available again, no offer to check local stores, nothing! Waited a week for that! So annoyed I'm going to leave the whole purchase now, it's taken away the whole appeal of buying them in the first place!!!

Halfords cold-called me (having been a customer over previous years) offering MOT & Service. Agreed to book on basis of price of £160. 10 mins later they call back saying they had input wrong customer details in computer (Data Protection Act?) and price would now be £180. Agreed and kept booking. Took car in to Halfords, BARKER STREET, NORWICH branch, WHICH WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS at appointed time and was met by a male person (who I believe is the new manager) who inflated the price up another £22 which they had 'forgot' to include in the quote and took great glee in informing me there is no appointed time and its just a 'drop off time'. I noticed this happened to several other customers so it appears to be a deception Halfords use. Left car with this outfit and unexpectedly received a call saying items of work needed to be done as it had failed MOT being brake discs & pads and wheel bearing which would come to over £700 i.e. a total rip off. I agreed as felt held to ransom to get MOT completed. Paid in full thinking all of the 'required' work had been done. Later after I had left the branch and got home I noticed another alleged problem with a 'broken breather pipe' had been noted as 'requiring' work. However, for reasons only Halfords can explain, they did not even mention this when I picked car up, despite paying over £700 for the other work which may not even have needed to be done. Next day I discovered exactly what this unprofessional had done. Was driving and noticed SMOKE coming from under the bonnet and TOXIC FUMES into car. I had to call the RAC who identified the problem as being a broken breather pipe. IT IS CLEAR FACT THAT HALFORDS BROKE WHILE CARRYING OUT THE SERVICE. RAC, in a brief look at my car, also noticed other issues which Halfords had not even spotted at the service. I made a complaint via email then chase up phone call to their contact centre. Halfords staff were rude, arrogant and did not want to know about putting right THE DAMAGE HALFORDS HAD CAUSED TO MY CAR or the other issues raised with them and FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY ANSWERS. I was lied to and told manager would call back but they did not do so. You would have thought at the very least they would have apologised, if only for the danger & distress, they caused but unfortunately no such apology was forthcoming and I even had some charmless man put the phone down saying he had nothing further he could say and other customers calls were now important. They have ripped me off, damaged my car (which will now cost even more to put right and will have to take to a proper professional garage). THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. This will now be a matter for Trading Standards and further action. PLEASE BE AWARE AND DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO HALFORS AUTOCENTRE, BARKER STREET, NORWICH - THEY HAVE PROVEN THEY DO NOT LIKE PESKY CUSTOMERS.

I wished to make an online purchase, as they allegedly had a good offer on which seemed to keep changing. Not able to get delivered and no shops with the sat nav within 50 miles, no matter which i picked. I repeatedly emailed Halfords about this and they could not even be bothered to respond to me. Customer services are a joke......it's not even as if Halfords are cheap which makes the "offers" they had more suspicious

i bought a bike for my three year old granddaughter, the store that i bought it from could not assemble it as it was a Saturday! they told me i could take it to another store close to where i lived, my granddaughter was very upset as she wanted to take it home and ride it. the first opportunity i had to take the bike to a different store was the following Wednesday, i checked first online and it had 'usually quiet today' so o made the trip to the store, the bike department was up the stairs, i have arthritis and asked if someone could carry the box upstairs for me. the assistant went off and tried to find someone, but came back and said no one was available, i struggled and carried the box up stairs myself. I ask the assistant if someone could please assemble the bike, she came back and said it would be possible to assemble the bike until the following Monday, remember i took it in on Wednesday. I asked to speak to the manager, who regaled me with his tales of woe, two assistants on holiday one on leave, fifteen bikes to assemble blah blah blah, i told him my granddaughter was only three and was desperate to have her bike, he then said to me, thats your problem, children cannot expect to have something just because they want it!!!!!!!! I told him that in that case his staffing issues were his problem and not mine, Halfords clearly state that if you buy a bike before midday you can have it assembled that day, we did not get that service on the day we bought the bike and i wanted the bike assembling asap. I was told that if i had bought the bike from that store i would have had it assembled by now, however this new bike was going to be treated as a repair!!! I was lost for words i left the bike, as it needed to be assembled and left the store. This service is appalling, i will certainly think twice about buying anything from Halfords again.

Halfords (Charlton) is the worst store I have ever come across. After ordering an expensive road bioke and taking their recommended extras, pump, water bottle and cage etc. I received a sms telling me when I could collect the bike. So far, so good. When I went to the store, within half a hour of receiving the sms, the guy that sent it (the same guy that took my order) wasn't there. So, I was dealt with by a female assistant. This is when things started going wrong. First, she messed up my "interest free" credit application and it was rejected. No problem, I paid with my debit card. Just before I paid, I noticed something else on the invoice. There was a charge of £6 for a "Taster Pack". I told her that I had not ordered such an itam and didn't even know what it was??? She then told me that everybody gets one. I then told her that I did not want whatever it is. She then told me that I can have it for free and that she will take the £6 off my final bill. What I discovered, when I got home was that the "Taster PAck" that the store tried to charge me for is actually "free" and clearly states that on the pack. It is given away by a company called High 5 and contains half a dozen samples of energy supplements, definitely not worth £2 never mind £6. Problem two then came about, when I got home. I had "opted out" of marketing emails and yet they were in my inbox when I got home only one hour later. I unsubscribed. I also noticed when checking my receipt that I was supposed to get a "free" six week service but no date had been entered. After unsubscribing from their emails, I reveived another one, from a marketing comapny, doing Market Research for Halfords. I mentioned the problems and ticked the boxes for Halfords to contact me, gave my mobile number and have since heard nothing. In addition, the pump I bought is absolutely useless for a road bike as it fell apart on the 1st use. It appears that it cannot cope with the high pressure of the tyres (between 100 to 110 psi). I then emailed Halfords Customer Services and complained. The least I would have expected would have been a fob off but they didn't even have the courtesy to reply or phone me to fob me off. The six weeks free service would be due today and still no contact from Halfords. This is clearly a case for Trading Standards as Halfords are misleading customers with clains that they will get a free service and charge £6 for a free (sample) product and intentionally mess up credit applications so the customer has to pay cash. They are more concerned with selling extras than making the customer happy. Never again will I buy from Halfords (have recently bought a set of spare tyres, lights, inner tubes, afoot pump (to replace the useless hand pump etc. etc and have so far spent over £100 and not a penny went to Halfords. I am now recommending, to others, that they use Decathlon, Amazon or their local Independent cycle store for their purchases. Keep this bad attitude towards customers, after they have made the large purchase (bike) and you will soon be the next UK company to go into receivership. They are plenty of competitors left for customers to go to and they can certainly save a lot of money using Amazon as Amazon's prices are far cheaper than Halfords. Had I ahd the option, I would have given Halfords a rating of minus one star but sadly that option is not available.
