Abysmal and Unprofessional!! Selling substandard bikes with bogus inspection reports!!! Be carefull anyone who's planning to spend your hard earned money on Halfords bikes!!! Ordered a brand new bike from Halfords for my niece's birthday coming up in two days so with the Halfords confirmation of collection from yesterday from 10:00 it was perfect timing for the birthday gift. So when received the email for ready to collect I went ahead to call the store Halfords Southampton Winchester Road just to make sure that there are no surprises. The operator on the phone assured me that the bike is fully complete and inspected and ready to collect. So went to collect the bike today driving down 35 miles from where I live to the Halfords store and the bike was handed over to me and only for me to notice that there are massive scratches and bruises on the stem, handle bars and the frame when paint and metal just scraped out something like it's run over by a train. Funny enough an inspection report also came with the bike confirming someone inspected the bike and signed for it. For anyone to miss that much of damage Halfords must employ inspectors that are literally blind. So too the bike back to the store and showed it to the operators who were rushing to close the 20 minutes to 18:00 first thing I here from the you sales assistant boy from Halfords is "Oh (not appropriate to mention the exact word here) man that's bad" his exact words in front of other customers. So my niece's birthday on Friday and the surprise gift is ruined and Halfords guys are saying that they don't know what do to with it and they don't have time to look at it now since they're closing in 20 minutes so asking me to come back the next day. I made a 70 mile round trip for this unprofessional and abysmal service from Halfords who employ unprofessional and incapable employees, produce bogus inspection reports to go with expensive bikes and take no effort to even apologizing for destroying a little girl's birthday. Truly appalling!!! Halfords master plan recover the lost sales from Covid19 seems to be selling substandard products to customers bogus inspection reports. Update 22/06/20 Just wanted to leave an update so the others like me wouldn’t fall into the same trap by the Halfords crooks. Be careful people >>>The bikes that you’re buying from Halfords website is not always NEW bikes!!! They sell you bikes that had been on display for the same price as a new bike so what you’re getting is a PRE-USED DISPLAY BIKE for the same price of a new bike and at no point in the sales process Halfords disclose this information. I was told this by the store manager of Halfords Southampton Winchester road store. Until I drove 35 miles to collect the ‘new’ bike I was expecting following placing an order for a new bike online and until I see the gashes on the handle bars and the frame Halfords did not tell me at any point that the bike that was sold to me for full price was a display bike which seemed as was being used for months. Funny enough they do an inspection and the inspection report clearly says that it’s fully inspected, no damages and signed for. Not only Halfords misleading customers, selling substandard products, are they also producing bogus inspection reports. This should be Illegal right? Seems like this is Helford’s 2020 Business recover plan!!! Sell any rubbish to customers at full price don’t worry about the product quality, service and customer standards. Halfords also not seems to be investing on training their employees, their technical capabilities are abysmal and customer service standards and shameful.

I purchased a bike but because of Covid-19 restrictions could not enter the shop. I took home the bike which I had to self-assemble and within weeks the gear mechanism was slipping and the bike became too dangerous to use. I have had to book in for a bike check in order to get a refund, replacement or repair. This is most unsatisfactory. This whole process has taken up a lot of my morning!

Good battery but not so good service to collect it I ordered the battery click and collect. I got a confirmation email and invoice. I got a txt to say expect a further txt to advis when my I could collect the battery. No txt by the next day. Could not get through on the phone. Went to the store in Clydebank and waited in a long queue due to the covid19 restrictions. Was then told very abruptly my battery had been collect ed the day before. When pressed to prove who collected the battery he could not. He said he could not do anything about it. I refused to accept this and he left to have another look. Returning again he said there was nothing he could do. I again refused to accept this. I waited a further 10 mins after which time he reappeared with a battery. No apology and no explanation. When I asked what happened I was told the computer must have gone wrong. Things can happen but I think this is far from Halfords usual good service and not even an apology. If you add a negative review on Halfords site they just moderate it and remove.

Still waiting for a refund after 34 days when I was told it would take 10 days. Online chat doesn't work. Nobody answers phone. Only reason I need a refund is the bike I ordered for collection wasn't in stock at the Livingston store although it said it was online. Terrible service

Untrustworthy! Not the trustworthy Halfords you might remember. We run a bicycle servicing & repair business and recently purchased and paid full price for what we were led to believe was a brand new children's bike online from Halfords. The following day when we called to enquire about collection we were told the bike was ex-display model. Their website states that all ex-display bikes are sold at a discounted price but Halfords have done everything possible NOT to give any discount on this purchase. There are many great trustworthy bike sellers out there so think carefully before purchasing from this company.

I ordered a bike for my grandsons birthday, i was told i would get a phone call when it was ready and built up. The date i was given came and went, no one called, the birthday came and went with a very disappointed grandson and no present to open. I know it was a busy time for halfords but how long would you have left it if I had not PHONED YOU??? Very poor. When i Got sick of waiting i phoned the huddersfield store and they said oh yes its waiting to be collected!!!! Not happy.

Guiseley Halfords, Leeds Rip off merchants. My sons bike only needed a new chain, but several days and several attempted up-sells later they are claiming it needs £90 worth of work (the bike is barely worth that). To top it all off they've accused me of lying as the quote yesterday was £67. Stay away from these arrogant lying money grabbers and try to find and local independents.

Dropped my sons bike off Friday morning for a service and new inner tube and was told it would take a few hours and that I would get a call when it was ready for collection and I could either collect it later that day or over the weekend! It’s now Sunday lunchtime... I haven’t had a call from them and every time I try to call them they are either busy or it rings forever and they don’t answer! Bad customer service! Not impressed!

I went in to purchase another folding electric bike only to my amazement the price has gone up from£650 to £999, talk about making a profit with the coronavirus pandemic when everyone is encouraged to ride a bike, just as bad as the facemask profiters, rip off shop and I'm not going to buy another one there

The job seemed to be a problem I’m afraid When I saw Halfords we’re offering a free service on bikes for the NHS I thought marvellous. I rang the store at Barnsley who I have bought from before and had service plans with before and rated them highly in the past. To start with the guy thought it was a free health check until he realised it was a service worth £30. He booked me in, sort of, and I attended at the time he advised. I dropped the bike off albeit staff knew nothing of the appointment. I drove a mile home put the kettle on made a cup of tea, had a sip when the phone rang to say the service was complete. Really I thought? The caller, the manager of the shop seemed under pressure abrupt in his telephone manner, told me they didn’t have a trained technician on and if I wanted a full job doing I should take the bike to another branch at Doncaster or somewhere else that did. I wish I hadn’t bothered. I haven’t taken up any other NHS offer and indeed when I finish work I change and join normal queues that in theory I could walk to the front of. I don’t exploit any situation but really wanted to take up this opportunity to kick start my fitness program after the trauma of going to work during this tough time for all. Other staff that day at the side door of the store were first class. The manager who I never met - forget it.

Always helpful with my old car but took my current car in for free safety check and got totally scammed they told me I needed 500 pounds worth of work. Which has since been proved untrue. I can only think it was because I was a woman on my own . Tried to impress on me to get work done there and then. Luckily I am single but not stupid. Get a second opinion if you take your car to Canterbury.

Had my bike delivered after waiting for 3 weeks. I was excited to get my bike and bought everything ready for it to be delivered. I had paid £25 for the delivery and I imagined a Halfords can and employee pulling up and delivering it. Instead, I had a delivery from Parcel Force where I had to help carry a massive box containing the bike off the road and take it into my house. Straight away I was thinking is this really my parcel. The box was already wide open with my prebuilt bile upside down inside the box with absolutely no wrapping. Just a bike upside down in an empty narrow box with other boxes and papers floating about. After pulling it out I noticed that these moving boxes had smashed the back reflector and numerous scratches over the bike. I contacted Halfords store and they couldn't understand that Halfords had delivered a prebuilt bike. Was I the first? They then said to contact customer support. But I coolant get through I contacted Halfords via twitter. Who I then spoke to Kirsty. She seemed to care and offered me 10% discount. As I waited long enough for the bike and didn't want the stress of going through the process again, I accepted. Thinking that they would take the delivery charge off too since all of the issues began from that. I had £2.50 off the delivery. Kirsty then continued to say that I had accepted the previous offer and can't do anything more. I had to pay for the service that had caused all of this. Halfords clearly doesn't care about the experience of the customer and as soon as you've had itthey don't want to know. I had a look at parcel force delivery notes and they noted that the parcel was damaged and 2mins later the parcel was fixed. Think twice of getting a bike delivered as it's a terrible experience.

Not what I was led to expect of click & collect. The store (Gateshead Team Valley) is not "open" as such - there is a temporary counter across the front door and you stay outside the shop. I bought my items online under the impression that click & collect is the only way at the moment. I awaited my confirmation email / text and went to pick up my goods. The queue in front of me contained people who had turned up as you would to an open shop. People looking for solutions to problems, diagnoses and product advice/supply relating to cycle or car. Some had brought their cycles with them. After 30 mins of waiting in the queue, I managed to ask an employee if there was any way to bypass this queue for click & collect items. The reply was negative and, to my surprise, my wife and I were vilified by at least 3 people in the queue for not understanding - or being understanding during- the pandemic! Take a look at other click & collects Halfords or at least be honest with your online customers before they commit to payment.
