I don't usually flame businesses online. But my recent experience at IKEA is beyond belief. I cannot imagine what will make me try to do business with them again. Last week I wanted to buy an item requested for a baby shower. I checked online to make sure the Oak Creek store had it available before I made the trip there. When I found the item displayed in the store it had an "unavailable" tag on it. I asked an employee, since the website said it was available, and she said, "Oh, everything is available. Here is the information where you can find it in the warehouse." We went to the indicated aisle and found the bin...EMPTY. I found another employee and asked why it was "in stock" online but clearly not available. She said they had 8 of them, but they were "in the air" and couldn't be brought down during store hours. She said I could purchase it, they would bring it down after hours and I could pick it up at the service desk. I had to wait in line to talk with a person who could arrange that. Turns out she was sorely mistaken. They could take my information, take down the item overnight and I could come back to the warehouse the next day. When I mentioned that I did not live nearby and came in only because the website said it was available, I was met with a blank stare. No helpful customer service here. I could order the $80 item online and have it delivered for a mere $39. A 50% delivery fee. NO thanks. I need it for the shower this weekend. Just get it down overnight and I'll drive the hour round trip to get it tomorrow. The next day when I arrived at the warehouse: An EMPTY bin. I asked again and was told, "We have no authority over what gets taken down over night. All we can do is write down the request and if they don't get to it, it doesn't come down." EXCUSE ME, I just drove an hour to go home empty handed????? Well, we can send it to you, for a small charge. How small? $39. Ah, no! You will deliver it for FREE to the intended recipients. But we can't get it there for over a week and someone over 18 needs to be home to receive it anytime between 8 am and 9pm. IF you reschedule the time we give you the night before we cannot guarantee delivery. EXCUSE ME again?!? Ok, deliver it to ME, I'll make the commitment to spend the day at home waiting for the thing. So they were supposed to call last night to give me a 4 hour deliver window. I got a message from the delivery company that something was wrong and I would have to call back to reschedule. Now, I've already worked out my schedule to be home all day today so I can be available for whenever their 4 hour window is set. I call the delivery company. They say I am on their delivery schedule, but IKEA has not delivered the item to THEM!!! I will need to take it up with IKEA. So I call IKEA. The expected wait is 11-15 min. While waiting I need to listen to their helpful announcements which tell me I can check online to see the in-store availability. (Just in case, I do this while waiting and it says there are 8 items available). I also hear an announcement that they are having extreme delays in deliveries in NY and NJ and cannot give an estimated delivery date at this time. Seems rather widespread incompetence. When I finally get a customer service rep on the phone she can do absolutely nothing except say that the item was not delivered to the delivery company. YES, I knew that or I wouldn't be calling!!! I asked to talk with a supervisor. (Apparently companies are getting wise to this tactic as the last 2 places I've tried this have told me they don't HAVE supervisors.) In fact, I have to call the resolution center which was no longer open by the time I finally reached a real person. So, today, I call back and press the numbers to get to the resolution center. GUESS WHAT (this is NO surprise to me!!): They are experiencing such extreme call volume that they cannot take my call at this time! No 11-15 min wait, no leave your number and we will call you back in the order in which the calls were received, no leave a message. Nope. Just "can't take your call. click." And THIS company is so popular???? Are people so desperate for cheap stuff they put up with this total lack of customer service? What does this say about our society that we are willing to be treated this way? I cannot imagine what will entice me to do business with this company in the future.

Cannot even get someone from IKEA to call me to reschedule. I’ve been calling IKEA customer service and they keep telling me someone will call me but no one has called. Can’t even get a schedule date much less a delivery. I will have to call again. This is very poor service.

The worst delivery service of all time. I've been waiting for an ikea online order for over 2 months now. After many hours on hold with Ikea, XPO Logistics, and Last Mile, I finally got a hold of an ikea rep to cancel the order and get a refund. However, the refund then takes 14-21 business days to process. It's been 25 business days and still no refund. If you want to call ikea to get someone on the phone you have a better shot at getting through to the White House. And then in the end when you finally do get someone on the line they're absolutely useless and transfer you to someone else and they have you on hold for hours on end. Never order ikea online, go to amazon home. Jesper Brodin needs to fix this

Today was supposed to be my delivery date for $1000 worth of items. No show, called delivery company (XPOLogistics) and they were totally unapologetic. "Maybe Sunday, maybe not." How they expect people to just take day after day off work, stay home, and wait for a delivery that may or may not show up is beyond me. I will never again order anything from Ikea, nor do I recommend their chosen shipping company. A failure all around.

If I could give IKEA negative stars, I would. I waited almost 2 months for my Alex 9 drawers to get here. I understand that this was not necessarily IKEA's fault for them arriving late. Once they arrived, I noticed scratches all over the walls of it. It made me mad, but I was going to look past it...until one of the walls of the drawers snapped in half. I will never purchase from them again.

I saved for 2 years to make this purchase. A year ago I purchased two green kid tables 8 chairs and two stools. I own a preschool with primarily one to four year olds. In that year seven chairs have broken and one stool. I'm beyond upset! I could have put that same approx $200 towards wooden or metal furniture. I will not be purchasing furniture from ikea in the future, I have shared this within all the teacher and owner associations.

Accurate and speedy delivery. Both, customer service and the driver, where in constant contact, so very easy to track items and know when the delivery was going to arrive. However, I paid £40 extra! to have my goods delivered, (the cost of my items was £150) this is the most I've ever had to pay, to any company, for delivery.

If I could give a NEGATIVE 5 STARS, I would. Purchased two wardrobes on JULY 13th, with delivery on AUGUST 3rd. Called the order in to make sure it wasn't an item that would be discontinued, short on hand, etc. Delivery company called with an automated message the day before to confirm delivery between 10 - 5. No show. Tried calling IKEA. Stuck on hold for THREE HOURS. They tell me the order is LOST. Following Thursday, same thing, automated message for delivery that Friday. NO SHOW AGAIN. AND AGAIN - for the 3rd time, automated message for delivery that Friday (now the AUGUST 17TH), AGAIN NO SHOW. I called IKEA and was put on hold TWO AND HALF HOURS TO THREE HOURS for FOUR DAYS IN A ROW. I was told the order was lost, oh well, too bad for you. I hired a HANDLER/MOVER, who I had to pay $340 to go to IKEA Brooklyn to pick up my two wardrobes and deliver them to me in Westchester County. (Yes, I know Paramus is closer, but this is the only IKEA this HANDLER/MOVER deals with.) NEXT - Call IKEA and was on HOLD and on the phone for SEVEN AND HALF HOURS to make sure this would happen the next day. YES - it took IKEA 7.5 HOURS. Next morning - Handler/Mover calls to say that IKEA will not release items to him. He has my Invoice/Receipt and Case #. He has the IKEA person's name who I spoke with the day before. IKEA was given all of his pertinent information. I call IKEA back and sit on hold for TWO MORE hours trying to reach anyone. Finally someone picks up and I was told they CANCELLED MY ORDER as they are trying to encourage their customers to come into the store. There are not enough swear words to fill this window on what my response was. My HANDLER/MOVER deals with the Brooklyn store, and I think he was is also strong-armed, as finally, four hours later, he arrived with my wardrobes. So it only took almost $800 to buy two $199 wardrobes, countless hours of me sitting on hold, four days of sitting at home waiting for my delivery. I only bought these because I needed closet space for my new apartment (none) and the specs of this item were the only thing that I could find work. Otherwise, I STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I ordered a table for $129 and paid $59 for delivery. Waited 6 weeks and still no table. Canceled order and 15 days later still no refund, and I find out you’re charging me $59 in shipping for the return!? But it was never delivered!!! Will never use IKEA again! Wasted hours of my life talking to incompetent (outsourced) call center employees that are rude and never help!

horrible.....my son is waiting for a refund for over 3 months and when u call u cant get through to the customer service. They delivered 10 out 11 boxes of a bed so we wasted money on task rabbit which ikea never reimbursed us for and we called 3 times and each time they said he would get the 400 dollar refund and he hasn't. i dont know how they stay in business. this is unaccepatable and the better business burea and consumer protection should step in. He still hasnt gotten a refund. They take advantage of students.

I am so disappointed in the delivery of a birthday gift that I have ordered for delivery on 8/8/18. We are now 2 weeks later an I still do not have my delivery. Multiple long hold time phone calls with absolutely no help. Currently on hold again (for 20 minutes already) so I can cancel my order. NEVER AGAIN Sad part is that they really don’t care.

After the run around for a week, they stepped up, resolved the issue over the phone, and in English which was lovely. The delivery was on time, straight up into my home and they were so pleasant. There will always be issues arising in any company. This company is global - I am in Italy - so even more opportunity for issues to occur. Its how IKEA CHOOSE to resolve it that retains the trust to return again as a customer. Thank you.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. You just nickel and dime your customers FOR every item possible when they are essential to the product. I went in to buy a bed frame. Looked at the frames, found the one I wanted, noticed that it had slates on it and the middle bar. Neither the slates or the middle bar have price tags on them so you assume they come with the frame. WRONG. YOU HAVE TO BUY THOSE SPERATE. RIP OFF. But you do not realize that at the time of purchase because no one tells you and no one helps you. The lack of customer service is unbelievable. So when I went to the warehouse to SELF-pick it up, I couldn't find it because the tag on the frame in the showroom was not correct so I had to ask for help. Finally, I found the frame after looking up and down the row based off an assumption that the service desk told me to look in. When I checked out for the first time no one told me I was missing parts. So when I got home I thought I had everything that I needed to build the frame. WRONG. So I get halfway through building my frame to find missing parts. Drive another hour and a half back to the store to pick up the missing pieces. OVERALL IT IS SAFE TO SAY YOUR BUSINESS MODEL IS AWFUL, YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE AWFUL BECAUSE ALL THEY DO IS STAND THERE AND NOT GIVE A SINGLE LICK ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING AND IF YOU FOUND EVERYTHING EASILY. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT AN IKEA AGAIN AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO NEVER SHOP THERE.

I would give -100 stars for this company. We ordered deck tables and chairs on line in July. XPO called us Aug 1 to confirm delivery for Aug 2 window time 12-4. We missed our work and waited all day but they never came. I called XPO and they said the call was an error. They said the items are not in their warehouse yet and don’t know when will be available to deliver so call Ikea for more questions. So we called Ikea but they never answered. “ all circuits are busy” I have been calling them thousand times since 2 weeks. They never answer. Now I really want to cancel my order but there is no way to do it. This is absolutely scam and IKEA must be out of business. I also considered to go to a IkEa store to cancel my order so I tried to call one of the store location. I wanted to make sure they can help me out before I drive over an hour from my house. They have only one main number for all ikea USA!! Can you believe it? Only one phone number which never answered!! The worst experience! The worst company in the world. Simply the worst! I will call my bank to dispute the charge and won’t waste my time to call them anymore.

If I could rate negative 10 stars I would . We bought a chair online and realized we bought one too many . We are attempting to return it , we did not even open the box . My husband has been kept on hold now a total of over 4 hours !!!!!! 2 hours yesterday and two hours and still holding this morning . It is a very straightforward return . Needless to say we will NEVER make another IKEA purchase EVER . It is inexcusable in this day and age to have to go through this . So many retailers make returns simple and quick , why would we bother with IKEA again.? This is disrespectful of our time and clearly they could care less once they make the sale . To add to it their delivery of items from online purchase is the slowest in the industry , especially for cheap assembly line products. I have decorated many spaces over the years , now there are too many other good companies with better products and customer service . I will not hesitate to let everyone I know about our experience . My husband and I are both professionals , we bill by the hour and IKEA has wasted now $600. worth of our time . If we ran our businesses theIKEA runs their’s we would have no business!!!!
