I am writing a review regarding the IKEA kitchen I bought & their installation service and my negative experience throughout. 1) multiple trips to IKEA, and every time I wanted something changed, they would ask me to come back in and they’d then resubmit the whole thing just to get an installation quote. Lots of money wasted on petrol. 2) I paid for the measuring service so as to ensure all measurements accurate. Now my fridge barely fits in the gap they left me, and the designer guy never once told me that putting my type of American fridge freezer in a corner is a bad idea. Now i wont be able to open the doors properly. 3) i wanted to keep the old extractor hood. The installers got rid of the pipe connecting it to the outside and never bothered to reconnect it, so now my extractor doesn’t even work. (Plus of course they charged me extra to move it). 4) the installers did not show up on the day they were meant to. After hours of calls, i get told the company has shut down. Thankfully they managed to book someone else to fit my kitchen. 5) many cabinets were left without shelves. Now i have to fit them myself. (I paid for them so no clue where they are). 6) dishwasher door: i don't know how they fit it, or what the issue is but every time you open or close the dishwasher the wood makes an awful scraping noise. 7) good luck trying to contact customer service, good luck trying to get any issues sorted, no one will take responsibility or help you

Horrible online service! Not only they forgot to cancel my order in time, even though I called and told them to, they shipped my package and now telling me that shipping fees are nonrefundable! This wouldn't have happened in the first place if they actually cancelled my order when I made the phone call to. Not only that, in order to get this unsatisfied result, I had to make 6 phone calls, only 3 connected, other 2 were transferred and just cut out for some reason! They really need to fix their online store and customer service quality.

Genuinely never had a worse retail experience in my life. This whole ordeal has been going on for about 3 weeks now. I made an online order of a mirror, a shoe rack, 4 glasses, a small ironing board and some reusable bags. Not one item was delivered in one piece or undamaged. For some reason my order was split into two deliveries. In the first was the mirror, which arrived completely smashed to pieces and my nice cream net bags and ironing board were covered in black dirt. The mirror was rescheduled for another delivery, fine. My other delivery with the shoe rack and glasses took a total of 2 weeks, 4 non-attempts to deliver by my driver (despite my partner staying home from work to take these deliveries in, the driver couldn't be bothered to ring the doorbell or call us). The delivery was finally made after 2 phone calls and 2 online chats (one with an insanely rude and unhelpful staff member called Matt - unbelievable, this guy should be sacked), but two of the glasses were smashed into tiny pieces and the shoe rack was really badly damaged (very deep scratches on top and one of the corners completely worn off). I called to complain last week, and was told the replacement delivery would be made today. I needed to change the delivery date so tried to call up, I was told to call DPD which cost me £6, even though I was told the replacement items would be delivered by Ikea themselves. I was told to just await my text concerning delivery and then I could make amends. There was also a possibility of it being delivered in the morning which would suit me but I was sent no text or email or anything concerning my delivery. I got onto the website chat service, was put into contact with who I think is the same rude Matt from before, who tells me they are actually out of stock and they were to re-access the stock and contact me on the 13th, two days from now. All of this wonderful delivery service cost me a whopping £39. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone with this entire experience. What on earth?? Please take my advice, and never order from Ikea online under any circumstance, it's not worth the stress or colossal amount of time you'll waste. UPDATE: I asked for a refund and I've only been refunded for the items and not the £39 delivery charge. I'm absolutely furious, never experienced anything close to this terrible experience before.

I bought a bedroom set. Cost reasonable and what I'd expect. Had it delivered and arrived on time. Also hired Task Rabbit through Ikea for assembly. When assembling - the parts included 60 of one type of slat, 0 of another and missing straps. Assembler couldn't finish job. I was with a bed that couldn't work. During the time 6 different customer service agents through the phone on for problem solving. Suggestions ranged from my taking apart the bed myself (he'd assembled the bed board/foot, slides and center supports... ) and transporting it 30 minutes to a store - to get another and then hire a handy man to put it together again - to waiting 10 days for the parts to arrive then figuring it out on my own. Very poor consistency in customer service online and it's evident there was either no training or it wasn't put to use and all but two truly treated you as if this was a hassle and that you were wrong to be frustrated. Luckily two individuals and I problem solved. I drove 30 minutes each way to store (without having to transport things) picked up missing parts and no charge (Oh yes one agent suggested I would have to repay for the bed if I didn't bring it all down to the store to get the parts). Task Rabbit a gem as the individual came back the next morning and finished the job. Sleeping on the couch, out the extra travel and time and took a day off work to get this done when I paid for delivery and set up. Ikea would not refund my delivery charge (when the wrong parts were delivered) nor reimburse me for the gas it took me (and time) to go get the parts they were supposed to deliver in the first place. I like the store - but I don't like the service, consistency, and customer service. IT was worse than being a number and some of them (not all) it seemed as if they were making it up as they went along. In fact, I had to tell some to take out the manual, discuss the missing parts... One told me they only had the slats in one color and it was correct (one only had to take out the manual to find this out). In any case - the store front itself helpful, helpful, the customer service (phone support) AWFUL AWFUL so no guarantee if you purchase you get any support. It seems a well known fact as I talked to folks that the phone support is a joke and go to the store because they treated you so humanly, problem solved and I wasted four hours of my time with misinformation, stringing me along (and I'm sure laughing at my troubles, and treating me as if I were the problem). Two of the phone support folks did assist and did their job. The other four... (The missing parts were found at different times by the assembler thus multiple calls to customer service). Won't buy furniture there again as the quality of support, packaging and delivery is not managed well and supported.

Most of the stuff we bought today was ok, except for the lamps which had no bulbs in them and the metal letter trays which cost £9.50 but weren't worth 50p scrap values the screw threads in the metal tubes were no good and the threads on the fixing bolts were already stripped. Absolute rubbish.

Absolutely THE WORST customer service ever. The machine gives you hell before you even get to a live agent. Once you get to a live agent they keep transferring you so you have to keep re-explaining yourself.

(a) Items purchased online for delivery (after much difficulty trying to get IKEA's checkout process to function correctly) (b) Two of the products were broken sufficiently to make them useless for their intended purpose. (c) I went online to IKEA seeking help IKEA (UK) website navigation Home > Customer services > FAQ > Returns and Product issues Page heading: Returns and Product issues FAQ Question: Something is wrong with my product, what can I do? Answer: "If you can’t make it back to an IKEA store, [I purchased online - not at the blooming store!] you can *contact us* and we will discuss options with you." (d) I clicked the *contact us* link and was navigated to the following page: Home > Customer services > Contact us Which merely had more FAQs including this link: "Something is wrong with my product, what should I do?" (e) I clicked that link. (f) Yep you guessed it... Not a helpful =delivered with damage= reporting form. The online buyer is merely taken back to the previous "Returns and Products issues page!!! A stupid, frustrating, maddeningly unhelpful circular process, (just as the basket checkout process was) — that looks almost designed to insult customers once ikea has banked the cash. What The... is wrong with the designers and managers of Ikea's business processes and web design? Their handling of a few of the key processes of online trading - especially online contact / customer service - is an absolute disgrace.

I am yet to receive the mattress that I ordered two weeks ago. Considering the $150 deliver fee, this is utterly unacceptable. I had to stay at home for 4 hours during my delivery window so that I can sign for the delivery. This would have been fine if they had actually followed through with the delivery! It still hasn't arrived and it is 1.5 hours past the window. I was on hold with Ikea customer service for an hour, with a total lack of concern for my time. I had to hang up and call again, only to be directed to the outside delivery service within 5 minutes of my second call. Why did the first call last so long? Terrible, unhelpful customer service. Furthermore, the delivery service they use (North American Logistics) is very disorganized. they do not give clear instructions about delivery windows and do not stick to the windows that they themselves give you. I received several unintelligible voice messages before I had to call and sort it out. The website is confusing and does not match what they tell you on the phone. Overall, this experience has turned me away from Ikea. Get a better delivery service or charge a fee that is fitting to the service rendered. aka $0. Late deliveries, completely lack of organization, and unhelpful customer service are not worth the steep price of $150. Ugh.

Booked and paid £ 45 for what I thought was going to be a home visit for planning my kitchen. I then got a phone call on the day of the so calles visit to say that they plan your kitchen over the phone ! They got me to measure the kitchen and send photos. Then having spent 2 hours on the phone he planned the kitchen which was wrong and I still have not seen a plan of my kitchen. A total waste of money and time.

Had lunch while on an Ikea shopping trip. (Meatballs) ... Friday. 1 am Saturday morning while Driving on way home from friends had To pull over in a lay-by and was violently sick. How I got home is still a mystery to me. The same followed for the whole weekend and 5 days later, 2 days off work I’m still not right. I have never experienced vomiting like it before ..... The food health and hygiene Procedures where obviously let down and needs looking at. Never again ... just on way to the doctors now .....

The customer service I received in the furniture department at the Norfolk, VA location was awesome. The salesman, Gerard Thompson, was so helpful assisting me with a selection of a chair I needed to get for my daughter to go with the IKEA sectional couch she already had. He answered all my questions about the product, delivery, set-up and because of him I was able to decide that day which chair to buy. Gerard epitomizes the best of customer service. I would highly recommend him if you visit the IKEA Norfolk store.

I would avoid Ikea if I could go back in time all together. Their online service is the worst and their actual shop even more. Its a shame as some products are great but its such a hit or miss just not worth it. I have ordered items worth of 300 just to return 3 of them because of the quality sucked. It was only 50 pounds but they asked me for 25 pounds return charged despite the fact it was within a week which I have ordered. No option to fill in online form ( such as amazon), no way to drop of the item ( the vase is apparently 5 cm too long to fit them) so I should pay 25 for a bad quality items to return? I am so upset as they make it sounds on the website they are guaranteeing the returns for 365 days which is a joke. When calling them (being on hold for 15min) they confirmed that no other way but to pay without even asking what could be the reason to return, why is customer not happy could they help in any way? Not at all, just pay 25 pounds. I am in absolute shock and will never use Ikea again)

The delivery driver was a total ass. He said " They could only carry the boxes to 1 room". The majority of our 110 boxes went in the basement but there was a hide a bed couch we wanted left in the living room. He couldn't understand it would save him carrying those 2 heavy boxes down the stairs. Then he couldn't count the boxes. He needs replaced. IKEA Denver

Awful delivery service: you order the item, choose a delivery date and the slott time, you PAY the service charge, you receive the email confirmation and ... you don't receive the items because, without any email or phone call, they got canceled your delivery.

They stole my money. I ordered a sofa online, then decided to cancel. They said ok just refuse delivery and it’ll be returned. So I did. I never got a refund. I’ve tried calling and emailing dozens of times and never got an answer or the system automatically hangs up on me. I’d pursue legal action but it’s only Around $650 So I’m not sure if I should sue for this or not. I won’t be surprised if Ikea lands in legal trouble because I think this is happening to many people. I guess I lost $650 :/

Just to say I shop at IKEA often and am happy with the products I buy. I am not happy with the online site, more specifically the bit that checks the product stock levels in the stores. The nearest Ikea to me is more than a 30 minute journey and on a number of occasions after checking stock levels online I have been disappointed to find that the product is out of stock in the store. This is very frustrating and a total waste of my time. I complained to the staff and they were very apologetic, apparently they get lost of complaining customers for the same reason. It is not their fault, In fact they said that they would be happy if I would write a review as they are fed up of dealing with these complaints.
