Terrible. I am trying to view a property and I am having to deal with a pathetic website that is masquerading as some kind of estate agent. No human interaction at all. On the other hand, with Yopa I had a much better experience with constant contact with a human advisor through the whole viewing process. It feels like Purplebricks is just run out of someone's bedroom.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I'm really really kicking myself for not doing my research better, but I felt pressure to go with Purplebricks' recommended solicitors PPL. I trusted Purplebricks and felt that they knew more than me, so I went along with it. I also was worried about having to pay the opt-out fee. Now that I know what I know, I would definitely have paid the opt-out fee to go with solicitors that actually do their work and actually care about the client. Nine months later and my house still hasn't completed and I've done most of the enquiry chasing with management companies, land registry and the local authority. We need a deed of variation on our property and I've been doing almost all the work on that too. I started a formal complaint against PB, but was offered £50 for my troubles. What a joke. I'd rather get no money... I'd rather get justice for this awful way of trapping people into working with completely incompetent solicitors. I don't want this to happen to another family.

We let a flat in Aberdeen and made the bad mistake of choosing Purple Bricks. Their first tenant, who passed their 'comprehensive tenant referencing procedure', bailed out abruptly leaving unpaid rent and unpaid council tax bills. Five months later, only one potential tenant has been found and he disappeared in frustration when it took PB three weeks to organise an electrical inspection. No response to our claims against the last tenant's deposit, or for our landlord's float back. As everyone says......they do not respond, communicate or deliver. Worst company I've dealt with for many a year.

Advised they would arrange appointments and viewings, viewings were sorted(all be it at wrong time!) But Purplebricks advisor failed to turn up. This happened more than once, now case with Ombudsman.

In 25 years of letting properties, Purplebricks rate as the worst agent I have ever used: both my tenants and I have had problems. They have failed to ensure compliance with relevant legislation on several occasions, and most recently failed to realise that the tenant had given notice to vacate the property when it came to re-marketing - a pretty fundamental aspect of property management. They have not conducted routine property inspections as stated in their property management service, and my tenant has ended up doing their own repairs to the property as Purplebricks took so long to answer queries. Their response has always been to blame transient staff issues - their staff turnover seems to be high which perhaps suggests internal problems - this excuse might work for a small, local business but is unacceptable for a company the size of Purplebricks which professes to be one of the UK’s leading lettings agents. Even when it has come to dealing with the complaints over their lack of service, they have failed to address matters, often ignoring correspondence all-together. I would not recommend them at all.

Our client has an upheld complaint with the property ombudsman due to PB's neglect to provide clients with full information on their marketing for all costs relating to the purchase! They initially denied having this information on file, in a formal final complaint response, although later admitted to having this on file when we confirmed our complaint had been sent to TPOS. They consistently try to use the caveat they place on advertising (to ask the vendor for any key information that is relevant) - although if you read the property ombudsman guidelines, they have to evidence all information obtained and if they have the information to hand - must evidence valid attempts to gather those additional costs or at least disclose that there are additional costs and to try and obtain further information. Many people wont know this - and they work assuming people don't!! Do your due diligence as they are clearly omitting vital information to sell properties and then denying having this information when confronted! When the TPOS have sent this upheld complaint to them advising them to pay the amount advised back to our client - they are now making that difficult!! From a sellers point of view - imagine going through this process and your buyer becoming aware of any additional costs not disclosed, right at the final hour! You will lose your sale and potentially your onward purchase, due to the sheer neglect of the valuers and teams managing these sales. We are mortgage brokers and see this consistently with this company! Appalling!

If you don’t have time to read whole review, headline is: DO NOT USE PURPLEBRICKS!!! I saw negative reviews but gave them the benefit of the doubt, and that was a mistake. Will elaborate for anyone interested to know why. I opted for the free valuation, was contacted straight away and an appointment arranged for a few days later - great. I was then sent numerous messages and emails making sure I press “instruct” on the portal BEFORE the visit, to allow the agent to take photos and put the ad up straight away (therefore tying me into their tenant finding service and the related costs, which are quite expensive). It should have been a red flag in hindsight, that there was so much pressure to do this when I’d only booked a free valuation, but as I needed to progress quite urgently I went along with it. The “valuation”: walked around the house, he took some photos, at the end of it he said “so what are you thinking in terms of rent”. Isn’t that the whole point in a valuation..? For you to tell me? I had a figure in mind, and he seemed happy with it. Then for the viewings! He asked my tenant/friend if she would conduct the viewings, and since she wasn’t working that day she said yes. She was told they would be spaced throughout the day. Instead, around 15 people descended on the house all at once, absolute chaos, people and children all over the house, people getting angry because she couldn’t answer all their questions. I didn’t find any of this out until the next day when I asked her what she thought, if anyone seemed nice etc, she had no idea as it has been like a “cattle market” (her words). I was really angry - Why had everyone been told to go at the same time? Where was the “organisation” that the agent was supposed to have done? I called him and said that was not fair, he needs to be there for any viewings going forwards. He said, instead, if you’re worried, maybe it better you do the viewings, then you can get a feel for the tenants. At the time I thought fair enough. Now in hindsight, I realise this was the start of the BARE MINIMUM service you get from Purple Bricks! I did the next round of viewings and thankfully found a nice lady who seemed perfect, she wanted to move in ASAP as currently living with family, and I instructed the agent immediately. That was a month ago!! Since then, it’s been silence from them except when I chase and chase and eventually get the same response – “delays due to referencing”. I’ve asked them to elaborate as to what exactly the issue is (do I need to look for another tenant??) – NOTHING. The most frustrating part is I can’t contact the potential tenant directly to find out what’s REALLY going on, as I feel absolutely sure by now that she’s probably having just as much of a nightmare with them as I am. Is she still even interested!? I’ve no idea! Another testament to how terrible this company is at what they do: I found out in a passing conversation about a new license that now applies to the area if you’re letting a property out. It costs £850, and there are huge fines if you don’t have the license. I was really shaken by the news and contacted the agent to ask why they hadn’t mentioned this to me throughout the whole process. Answer: “Sorry, never heard of it”. Well, you should have! Should a LETTING AGENCY not have some kind of obligation to be up to speed on current LETTING rules and regulations? Or am I going mad!? The whole thing has been horrendous. Even now I have no idea what’s going on. The prospect of having to PAY them at the end of this blows my mind. And while I haven’t paid them anything yet, their incompetence has meant my house has sat empty for a month now, in an area extremely sought after for lettings. I’m pregnant and very unwell with it, so I thought choosing a “reputable” company to do this, despite the high costs, would save me stress and make sure it’s all done right. Instead, I’m stuck here in limbo.

We are due to move house today and purple bricks solicitors have made an error which should have been sorted out months ago. The house is currently on hold. Purple bricks solicitors are awful - the hold up has always been on their end. Our solicitors have been amazing. Don’t go with purple bricks! We would never now we know what they’re like!

Too bad there's no option for no star. Worst company and people to deal with. No communication, no returned calls, no returned emails - not even from their area manager. Wish I had done enough research before calling them. They made me pay for a service they did not provide. They should not be in business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Dear Purplebriks, You made us pay for a survey, share the most important parts with you and then gazumped us continuing to look for offers! All buyers should avoid you like the plague (Covid or otherwise). You owe us 2k for surveys, brokers and lawyers. We will be reporting you to the Property Ombudsman. Shame on you and your disgusting practices.

Highly unprofessional service! Verging on a Con! Please please please don’t use this company! Instruct a ‘real’ Agent who has to work for their commission. Now escalating to Trading Standards & The ombudsman.

1 star is an over generous rating for my experience with this company. I viewed a property and made an offer for it and despite chasing the local agent numerous times for an update or an answer to a question concerning the property I NEVER got a response! My full price offer was made on Jan 18th 2022 and an email saying that was declined (because the property had been sold) arrived in my email inbox on Feb 18th the only information I was ever supplied with! I rang the ‘help’ line number not because I wished to consider gazumping the buyer but because I wished to complain about the appalling service and asked to speak with a manager. I was assured that I would receive a call back from someone - surprise surprise three days later I’m still waiting for the manager to call!! I wouldn’t ever dream of selling or buying through this company even if they were paying me to do so!!!

We found our perfect property and we didn't get the opportunity to negotiate with the seller because they were using a freelance Purple Bricks agent! It's ridiculous. Just 'Offer declined' popped up in our emails. Its so unpersonable & hard to navigate.

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They are unprofessional and the communication is horrendous. We have been renting with them and twice a tenant has moved out and alerted purple bricks to this and they haven’t told us until 6 weeks later when we haven’t been receiving rent. They take money off of payment without any explanation and when you enquire about it you can never get a response. They paid for works to a flat upstairs that didn’t belong to us out of our money and never got it resolved. Do not trust or use this company. They don’t even deserve one star!

Do not use this dishonest service... We have recently listed a property with Purplebricks and decided to go with the pay later option. We were told when the agent came out that we were able to change our minds at any time to pay up front and not use their conveyancing service. After reading terrible reviews regarding people loosing both sales and purchases due to Purplebricks conveyancing we decided to change to pay up front. I have spoken to post sales "support" and was advised that I could pay the fee and call back with the new conveyancer details. I have paid and called back this morning to be advised that the person that I have spoken to was incorrect and I'm not able to do this. I have now been told that this isn't an option and we are stuck using a service that we do not want to use even though I've paid the upfront fee. If the agent had been truthful at the beginning we would have researched how good the conveyancing was and decided then to pay up front. The service on the whole isn't worth the money either. We have paid £1500 for a listing on right move, photo's, a floor plan and for the agent to make two phone calls. Don't make our mistake and use the low cost option. It's low cost for a reason.

Diabolical… AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! 3 viewers since august 2021, massively undervalued house and still didn’t sell it, referred to Auction company even though local agents have valued it at £20k more and no sign board up for last 2 months and when there was a sign board up at start of development there was no house number on it or board at the property. And still trying to charge me £1400. A complete and utter shambles! AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

They are dishonest, don’t take care about clients. I am now have problems with my property because of their neglecting. Last year in may The gas inspector came to check the hob and the boiler, and he found problem with the hob and he was about to fix it, we waited more than 3 hours just to give their permission to fix it but they ignore us and the hob wasn’t working for 2 weeks after I did a dozens of calls and emails, ( after I spent fortunt for delivery food). About the boiler the inspector said it has very high pressure and he put sticker said (danger don’t use) in the same day that he came, even after I sent many many emails and thousands of calls that the boiler doesn’t work properly they didn’t do anything about it. Since last Thursday the boiler has been stopped and I don’t have warm water or even heating system in this cold. I have many serous medical conditions and three kids I one of them is toddler. We are sleeping in the same bed to warm each other but it’s very cold, they are crying complaining about this situation. I am using the kettle in the bathroom to give them a bath. They never respond to my neighbor who is a single mother with three kids and paying over £1000 a month for 2 bedrooms flat in Glasgow Harbour, her boiler and heating system are broken in this winter for months and they never replied to her emails nor answer the phone calls , definitely I’m frustrated and would like to warn people to not get any property through them , they will never look after you or answer your call when you have any issue with essential needs like heating , boiler and hob like what happened and I witnessed with my neighbor
