The gift of afternoon tea was exchanged for an extra fee for a lunch in London in July. The providing hotel refused to honour the voucher and my booking because allegedly there was no chef. I travelled 60 miles for this special event with a friend to be turned away. I had no response from Redletterdays customer services. My local Citizens Advice bureau explained that Redletterdays has been in liquidation since May 2019 yet it's still trading. No response to a further letter to Redletterdays liquidator/customer services. The gift giver and myself have both lost money including travelling expenses. Definitely would not recommend this company.

We had a gift for a cream tea at a hotel in London. We requested to change it to a lunch as I am gluten free. A fee of an additional £25 (our voucher was for £25) was requested. We paid and booked for the £50 lunch. When we got to the hotel they clearly knew nothing about red letter days and had noone there to make lunch. They kindly provided us with a snack. We wasted a whole day with additional costs of train fares of £34. The company does not respond to online complaints and is in fact in LIQUIDATION! Do not use this company.

Avoid using red letter days for track day experiences. It was bought as a gift for me knowing that there is tracks close by that were included but when I went to book I was told that the nearest track was Loughborough (3 hour drive from me). Even worse they have loads of hidden extra charges for things that should be included in the package like insurance for the cars and paying extra for cars that were supposed to be included. We weren’t able to attend today due to unforeseen circumstances and the office said that you can’t rebook and all of the money my friends and family spent on it including my own money to pay for the hidden charges have now been lost. Disappointed isn’t the word.

We had a £100 voucher for a wedding present. After choosing our venue, I called them up and was advised their system wouldnt accept my voucher code. The venue emailed Red Letter days twice and they never responded, so after me calling the venue again, I decided to call Red letter and was told that I had to up the cost of my voucher by 39.99, then go back to the venue as the accommodation I wanted was more money than the voucher due to it being busy. After many telephone ping pong calls, Red Letter just wanted to take my money and advised that I couldnt use my voucher on this occassion unless I paid more money and got a different code!!! I get the impression that it is a take take take situation and when it comes to actually booking your experience, its upgrade or you cant use it....I bet if it was below my voucher allowance it would be fine! I work for a very large organisation that uses these experiences on a corporate level many times during the year for hundreds of experiences, but I certainly will not be recommending to my directors to use them again!

We received this present for Christmas and was very pleased to receive . We looked on line for somewhere to go after trying 5 hotels and being told they were full we then tried without telling them it was a red letter gift and funnily they had a vacancy however when we said at end of conversation red letter were told cant use on a Saturday stay ,when you work all week and a weekend is what majority want equally if you stay in a Sunday we found the restaurants were not open. Overall personally think this is very misleading and on trying to use it I felt they treated us like they were doing us a favour . Our son paid a lot of money to give us a special treat which has been totally spoilt by so many restrictions

Did the hovercraft day return for two adults to the isle of wight for £60.00, had a good day. WE had to do all the booking up though. The actual return ticket price on our printed e-ticket, sent via e-mail from Hovertravel was £24.00, but it cost £60.00 in red letter day vouchers. I phoned up red letter customer services and that's just the voucher price, £60.00. I know company's need to make money but £36.00 difference is a bit of a rip off. If I had been given the money instead of a voucher we could have had two trips! So if I were you DO NOT USE give money instead for a better experience.

Aiding and Abetting criminals. My voucher was stolen... Redletterdays call themselves a GIFTING experience company. However when reporting my voucher was stolen and being able to provide the voucher number they refused to do anything about it because I didn't pay for it... Really?? I didn't gift a voucher to myself? Absolute joke of a company. They clearly don't understand law and what ownership means

Where do I start...... Two day break given as a present which very few places seem to want to accept unless you go in the darkest depths of winter. If these places don't want to participate why the frig do they sign up for it. VERY VERY POOR..... Should be black letter days not red. I eagerly wait ur response....

Thank you for leaving your comments and we are sorry to hear that you are having problems booking in your experience. I'm afraid some of our hotels do have booking restrictions. I can only echo what the other one star experiences say below. It’s a waste of money, please just give the people the cash and they can go online and get a much better deal. It’s a joke, we have spent many hours trying to find ANYTHING we could even bear to spend the vouchers on. Confusing, frustrating, if you like the person you are buying the gift for please don’t buy a RED LETTER DAY voucher.

So my parents purchased a voucher in Dec for Christmas. By Christmas day we discovered the place didn't accept the voucher it was meant for. This week I rang another location they also don't accept the voucher and its still showing on Red Letter days website! I have emailed and had no response. Meanwhile I have a useless voucher gir afternoon tea with champagne with no outlets in Kent or Sussex

Thanks for leaving your feedback. As our vouchers are valid for such a long time, there are occasionally things that happen over the course of its validity which are beyond our control that will mean a voucher can no longer be used at a specific location. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please contact our Customer Service team on 0345 640 8000 who will be able to advise you of other alternative options.

This is the worst experience og booking yiu could ever had. The company who rewarded me with this gift has cost me my sanity and temper. Got £300 to experience, exchanged £239 only to find hotel then wants lots of extras up to £180 basically onlt accepts bookings mon to thur and in the off peak months. What happened to my remaining £61, who knows. Then exchanged £239 for £189. Banked £50 but where is that. The new hotel doesn't answer the phone so will try to book by email. A shocking really bad experience. I will be telling my global supplier who gave me the gift that how bad it is and will tell all my other suppliers, avoid avoid.

Absolutely disgusting, I had a £100 voucher to redeem. The experience showed on the site as £102. I thoroughly read the faqs about how to redeem this gift card (which weren’t clear at all) and they then charged me the full £102. When I called up apparently the experience was actually £179 which was not shown anywhere on the website. Apparently they have an add and bank system for gift cards- of which I could find zero information. After all this, they gave me a £35 refund. Apparently they make it very clear how to redeem a gift card. Yeah, as clear as mud. They told me the old spiel about I’ll pass your comments along. Like duck they will. I’m now £67 out on what was supposed to be a gift. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS A GIFT UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE YOUR RELATIVES HASSLE.

Found your website really confusing and difficult to find any hotel locally that was doing afternoon tea. Resorted to phoning yourselves, whoever we spoke to needed customer service training - but eventually found and booked a local hotel which had not appeared on your site. When we went the hotel had no reservation made by you - they were excellent and honoured the voucher - no thanks to you. Would never buy red letter gift for my friends or family.

Appalling customer service! Joke of a company who don't know what good customer service is. Booked a helicopter flight through them with 'Adventure 001' that they cancelled 3 times due to bad weather, then because I took too long to re-book wanted to charge me another £25 for the pleasure !!! Asked for a refund from 'Red Letter Days' and was given a flat 'No'. AVOID BOOKING WITH EITHER COMPANY!

Thank you for your comments. I am very sorry to hear that your experience was cancelled, we do appreciate how frustrating this can be. Unfortunately with weather dependent experiences, cancellations can occur from time to time. This is only ever done with the participants safety in mind. I apologise for any disappointment caused.

We were given an Indulgent Escapes overnight break and booked the Billesley Manor Hotel as it had a spa, when we were on our way we called to ask a question but we were advised that the spa was shut, we called Red Letter day to see if we could swap to another hotel and they arranged for us to go to the Mercure Kiddeminster as they had a spa - BIG MISTAKE - the rooms were filthy and mouldy, the wallpaper was peeling off every wall, the food was awful, the staff were scarce and the spa was the local leisure centre which was jam packed with children having lessons on how to jump in! I complained to Red Letter in a lot more details but still haven't received any response 1 month later

Booked the Marco Pierre White, London Steakhouse deal. The main course chosen by us both, Beef Bourguignon, was of a poor standard. Having asked for one to be returned because it was tough, we then found that of the one piece of meat we were served, half of it was gristle. When raised with the Manager is said that was usual but would give the chef feedback on our disappointment! Deserts varied my pecan pie good but my companions lemon posset not so good. Wine expensive. Can not recommend, I’m sure there is better quality food to be had elsewhere.
