The house is booked up until october and they are even charging a £30 fee to change dates should we be able to I spoke to the owner who thought they were offering refunds its disgusting that sykes are proffiting from this virus I have booked 2 holidays and if I dont pay the balance on the next one i dont just lose the deposit they take £146 cancellation fee I will never book again

Weve also experianced the same service from this place. Happy to take our money but not refund us, disgusting people, avoid booking with them in the future. I hope they loose the house and get corona virus because of how they are treating people.

This company only want your money, they are disgusting and disingenuous. We had booked for a weekend and spent £1800 for the place. Amid the corona virus epidemic, they refused any form of refund, regardless of our situation. By law, we are told to stay home yet they still won't refund us?? its absolutely absurd what kind of policy this company holds. They then claim we can change dates and any extra higher fees means we will have to pay more on top of what we have already paid. Again, what kind of logic is this? we book specific dates because those are the dates we can specifically do, people aren't free 24/7 during their lives, and we choose it according to a price we can afford. Again, this company is disgusting, we have been screwed over horrendously, all I will say is that you have been warned. I'm saying this truthfully, if they had given the refund, I would have been the first to rebook the holiday, they would have got their money back, but this is just shameless. £1800 down the drain.

In similar situation to others with this unethical profiteering company. If you have paid by credit card you should be able to obtain refund through you credit card company under section 75 of the consumer credit act. Absolutely disgusted, paid £1800 for a hen weekend in April took out insurance which was a waste of time, was told to choose an alternative date means have to pay double for the dates they are giving, we had to cancel because of Coronavirus which isn’t our fault, why can’t we have a refund, already had to cancel wedding to another date which is also costing more money, it’s not fair can’t get a response either DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY

Dreadful company, response to my email questioning their approach to the travel ban was a standard email reiterating their no refund policy. Will not use them again.

Just repeating what all the other reviewers have put, no chance of being able to get through on the phone and no email address, obviously they are avoiding all contact with those who have booked with them. This is definitely a case for contacting our MP re unfair trading terms, etc.. We are loyal Sykes customers but NOT ANY MORE... If they want us to return, they should do the decent thing and offer refunds.

No Refund Under Any Circumstances For anyone booking a holiday and thinking of using Sykes Cottages stay clear! even though there is a clear travel ban they are point blank refusing to refund anyone, all future dates are already booked so your left in limbo. I spent £800 for a cottage I'm probably not going to get back absolutely disgraceful Angry is an understatement. if they did the decent thing and gave us our money back id have probably rebooked next year

Booked with Sykes in January for a large group holiday in July. I can’t get through on the phone or access my account online. I took out their travel insurance but cannot source details to try them for my £700 deposit claim. I assumed the bulk of my deposit had gone to the property owner but according to comments from other customers Sykes are sitting on our cash!! This must surely be a criminal offence. I had thought of paying my outstanding balance early but thank goodness I didn’t. Furious 70+

This company will refuse to give a refund despite the national emergency, they are offering to change the date of the holiday which I imagine will suit very few people. This company needs to do the right thing and salvage what will be left of its customer base. I will NEVER consider using Sykes and I will spread the word along with everyone else how they are treating paying customers. Do the right think Sykes and accept you are wrong in these Extraordinary times and issue a refund of people’s hard earned cash.

This company is a joke- they are greedy and will not refund people who cannot genuinely Change the date if their holiday Due to covid-19. We have paid close to £700.00 and have been point blank refused a refund. I along with a large number of others will never use Sykes again and will do everything in our power to spread the word of how they are treating laying customers. DO NOT BOOK with this company.

In the April due to go to cottage so fully paid been told to amend booking which is increase in price which Sykes pocket. The policy for refunds is absurd this is a health emergency. Have also paid in full for three other cottages during this year. How on earth can Sykes say it's safe from 4 June do they have a crystal ball. I am over 70 in the vulnerability clarification and have used Sykes happily for over ten years. After their attitude of no refunds and increased prices I WILL NOT BE BOOKING WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN. So I will wait to see how long this company can operate without all its loyal customers because you have lost this one. Also are you getting your employees to put bogus review in trustpilot because no can say your company is more than one star review with the actions you have taken over this pandemic.

Exploitative profiteering company at worst, bad customer service and greedy at best. Taking advantage of Covid-19 to (i) refuse refunds, (ii) insist on rebooking to fixed new dates, (iii) expecting customer to pay any difference. Avoid - if they do this at the worst times, they won't be any better in good times.

Looking at their cancellation policy Sykes Cottages obviously don't see Covid-19 as a health risk to either the property owner, the surrounding area or their clients. I've looked at changing dates as I really would like to stay at the cottage in the future but to do so I'm now looking at October at the earliest with a nice price hike. Which I could understand if it were not for the fact when I find a week which is £100 less I would not be refunded the difference. A good way of covering the "no charge to change" offer and a tidy profit out of the situation. I feel for the property owners but it looks as if Sykes Cottages are taking advantage of a very serious crisis. I agree with all the reviews below. Negative stars if I could give them. I have been on hold for 2 hours to no avail. At times like this with peoples lives and jobs on the line we should be pulling together. But Sykes is only worried about one thing and that is PROFIT. I should be going away during the Easter holidays with my family but obviously this is not going ahead due to Covid 19 government restrictions. Sykes are not offering refunds, just a change of date. I am a teacher and there are no dates available for the rest of the school holidays this year so I am now looking into 2021. I am disgusted with the lack of customer service and I will never book through this company again.
