“My long-time customer's husband called our number for a chimney sweep. Somehow, these Bozos answered and then claimed that yes, in fact, they were part of our company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure how the lines crossed. Either the customer hit the wrong digit or this company is tapping into my company's phone lines! Their number isn't even a Maine number so I'm not sure how this even could happen!!! They are not part of our company and never have been and never will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The customer was home and this Hispanic Male named Micah showed up on her doorstep claiming he was with our company and he needed to do a $99 sweep and inspection!! I'm a legitimate company and, due to insurance, vehicle maintenance, state registration fees, cost of supplies, tools, advertising, clerical professional services, and other misc. overhead, I couldn't even turn on my vehicle in the morning for that price!! No real sweep could!! I asked to speak to this Micah guy and he refused to speak to me!! I own the company so, if he were my employee, wouldn't it stand to reason he would want to talk to me??????????? He also came back after I hung up the phone with the customer and insisted that he had to do the job for the customer because only her husband could cancel the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is extremely fishy especially after all the one-star ratings talking of bait and switch concerning this company! Both my customer and myself are very uncomfortable with this interaction. Even if this was a simple mix up wouldn't it stand to reason that an honest company would respond to the customer saying, "Are you XXXXXXXXX company?" with, "No mam we are not. There must be a mistake!" However, this company just goes along with the mistake and says, "Oh yes, we work for XXXXXXXXXXXX company!!" So, even if this was an honest mistake, how this company turned that mistake to its favor is despicable!!!!!!!!!!! Far too many red flags!! Stay away from this company!! Classic bait and switch!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“Seattle Chimney Pros - Horrible handling of my conversion from gas to wood fireplace not having installed the flue cap and they wanted to charge me $200 more for the incomplete work. They made it sound like they did me a favor by installing a new flue w/o a cap! Ed not even consulted if that was needed and never explained the whole process.
They pressured me to pay the final invoice the day of by having their tech call me a couple times before he could go home after installing the flue cap!
Manager (Sean) is not a decent / pleasant / fair person to work with.
Do not give them your business.
Stay Away!!!!!
Do Not Recommend.”
“Deceptive practices: I recently bought a home the has a pellet stove. I had no knowledge of how to operate a pellet stove. I hired Chimney Pros to service my pellet stove. The technician was here for less than five minutes. He opened the panel on my pellet stove to look inside, he then turned the switch on and it did not start… That’s weird, I said…it fired up before I called chimney pro, however I wasn’t sure if the blower worked . The technician said the stove does not work, it needs to be replaced. He quoted a price of between 6 to $8000 to replace it. I was telling a friend how I now need to buy a new stove and I might just go with an electric stove because I cannot afford to replace a pellet stove or buy a wood-burning stove or even a propane stove. My friend said she would have her husband take a look at my stove since they have a pellet stove at their house. I learned that it takes at least 30 minutes for the stove to begin blowing out hot air…
When my friend’s husband open the panel to my pellet stove, he saw the one fuse had been unscrewed (the stove has 2-fuses, tucked in behind another panel) it was just barely in its socket. He secured the fuse and my stove fired up, as it did before I called Chimney Pros, and within 30 minutes it was cranking hot air into the room. I am so mad that I believed this technician. I threw out the manual that came with the stove because I thought I was throwing the stove away and I threw out a replacement blower that the previous owner had left behind. The technician said I didn’t need it, that it was old, when it looked perfectly new and was in a box that I had just opened, and I told him that. He said you have to throw it away, the stove doesn’t work. I am a 66 year old woman, 🤦🏻♀️ Chimney Pros tried to exploit me.”
“Well, I bought a Groupon for $80 to try out this company. It was for duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. In the end, service cost me $400 and counting. The tech broke broke my step when he was pulling in machine or taking it out. My step is almost completely detached from my porch. He didn't tell me and I found out the next day when I almost broke my ankle leaving the house. Contacted them 2x in the last week and I have heard nothing.”
“Was charged over $1660 to replace my gas fireplace valve. The initial estimate guy went on and on about how long it was going to take as they had to take the whole fireplace out which was not true. It was a simple replacement that took about 30 min. The parts I saw online is only $200 to $300 so in effect I was charged over $1300 for 30 min of labor which is crazy. DON'T RECOMMEND THEM!!!”
“Service person told me I needed a new valve. BUT, he thought he could fix it for $300. That made no sense to me. I asked him how much the valve would cost. He emailed "the office" and showed me an amount of $1,199. I said no, I will get another opinion. He tried to talk me into "letting" him try and fix the fireplace telling me I wouldn't have to pay if it didn't work. No. I called NWNatural to come look at it. They just left after opening the grate, telling me the gas had been turned off, and started it right up. Chimney pros is a scam! BIG wast of $49!”
“i arranged to have the inspection to find out what was needed to get my gas fireplace working. First guy didnt recognize what a fireplace was. second guy seemed to know what he was doing. I paid for the inspection but never got anything but the receipt for the payment. No report, no quote to fix, nothing. WHAT DID I PAY FOR?”
“Dodgy, that is how we would describe the service representative who came to our house. I initially called on a $99 per chimney offer ($125 usual). The lady on the phone stated that if it were really dirty, the cost for cleaning would be $239ea. When he came to our house, he provided a quote of $990 for the two. When my wife challenged with the $239ea max, he quickly lowered it to that price, asking for cash or check. She respectfully sent him on his way.”
“The company offer is $125 included inspection and cleaning. The first time they ware 45 min late and I cancelled appointment. The second time a specialist arrived and walked across my beige carpet in dirty shoes. After inspection he said that the chimney was clean, but the pipe from the stove needed to be cleaned. About $500. After communication with manager he told it cost $299. This is a 2 ft long pipe. Don't waste your time and money with this `specialists`”
“Don't fall for this bait and switch company. They charge you $50 for the service call which was lower than competitors, but after a five-minute evaluation of my fireplace issue the technician asserted that I needed to replace the fireplace valve at a cost of $1500. Literally exactly $1500. The technician was so obviously scripted to quote that price without any time spent troubleshooting any other possible issues as to why the fireplace won't start. This is a misleading company. Don't fall for their scam.”
“I had an appointment with The Chimney Pros at home in Sagamore Beach MA this morning between 9am & 11am. I was contacted by Michael at 9:31am to let me know “I am on my way”. At 11:15am I called Chimney Pros and told them that nobody showed up for the appointment. I had told the person to Cancel the appointment because I had to leave my house by 12:15pm for another appointment. He apologized and canceled the appointment. About 15 minutes after that I got a call from Michael, I didn’t answer it because I was busy. 5 minutes later he was ringing the doorbell. So I explained to him that he needed to hurry because I needed to leave the house by 12:15. So he did do one chimney flu cleaning, and was done at about 12:15 PM. He sent me a link via text message so that I could pay for the work he had done. When I clicked on the link in the text message it did not load any information and I could not pay the bill. About an hour later at 1:30 PM I got another call from Michael asking why I hadn’t paid the bill yet. I explained that the link he gave me did not work so he sent me another one when I tried it at 1:30pm it worked. I paid the $149 bill within minutes after that. The invoice said that the bill was overdue which I didn’t understand, but I decided to pay it because I had no time to call them and try to work things out. I considered the way that this whole thing was handled is very poor customer service. I waited around for two hours and 15 minutes waiting for somebody to show up, and no one told me that Mike was not going be there on time. I will not be using Chimney Pros again.”
“AVOID this company. I explained all the troubleshooting and issues I had been having with my gas fireplace. He spent 5 minutes trying to light the pilot light unsuccessfully. He then tells me my valve is bad, I tell him I’ll light the pilot for him, get it lit and we flip on the low-voltage switch and the issue I called him to come fix of my main burner not lighting occurs. He says “see? valve is bad…”
So, he was able to diagnose the bad valve but he didn’t know how to light the pilot?
He then says he’ll get me a quote for a new valve. He tells me the valve will cost $1,400! I immediately googled the part and it’s a $200-$300 part online….
Save yourself some time and call someone else. These guys have no idea and bad customer service. Wasn’t wearing a brand T Shirt and seemed like some random person they called up.
Avoid “The Chimney Pros””
“DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, the person had no understanding about a chimney at all! The person had no way to even prove he worked for the company. What was supposed to be $125.00 for a sweep and inspection, he quoted us $1000.00 and spent two minutes looking at the chimney. He didn't find anything wrong with it but did say they would remove the moss from the roof...........really not why I reached out!”
“Called yesterday for an appointment and was able to get it for the following morning! Tyrone and Kevin inspected and cleaned my chimney. They arrived within the block of time and were very professional and polite. Tyrone explained why the 4 walls needed to be replaced along with the rusted cap. He showed me the picture of the rusted cap. He called and arranged for the next appointment. They also put a tarp down and cleaned the area before leaving.”
