Rented a car from Tampa Fl and was charged an extra $150 by the host for being late by an hour. I called customer service to see if they could help with the matter, and was told that the host decides the fees. Turo is a recipe for disaster, how can you let the hosts decide on the experience that the customers will have? Not only the cars vary in quality from one host to another, but apparently Turo has very little power over the fees. Stay away from Turo, not worth the risks of having issues.

Rented a 2017 Toyota Corolla from turo and when I got the car the tank wasn't full. The next day I get an email saying I owe almost $40 for gas because I didn't fill the tank. Low and behold turo charged my card for gas that I don't owe even me showing pictures that the tank wasn't full when I got the car but they didn't care so now I have to dispute the charge on my card.

The host was unresponsive; I got charged a bogus toll fee, which took me ten days to get refunded. I paid for a full day but could not pick up the car until 6 pm; I'll be sticking with car rentals less of a hassle. The check engine light came on, along with a maintenance warning. Turo said you can dispute the invoice before making payment, yet they charged me less than 30 minutes on the same day of disputing it. I don't recommend Turo

I initiated a rental in San Antonio Tx this past weekend. I wanted to pick up and drop off at the airport. My price went from $108.95 to $158.95 the extra $50 was a delivery fee. When I was informed of extra fee, I informed them to cancel the rental. I was then charged the extra fee. Now I am filing a claim with my credit company. I rented a car through AAA same days for $65.00

TURO SCAM This was my first experience using Turo, and it will be my last!! Salman’s Kia Telluride that I rented for two weeks happened to be during some torrential rain and flooding in Southern California. The windshield wipers were terrible and the tires were bald which was very unsafe for my family. The car also reeked of cigarettes and we had our two year old with us. All this BS started when I was issued a ticket for an expired license plate on Salman’s Kia Telluride. This is unacceptable and should not happen to customers using this Turo app. It is also very dangerous and illegal. As I’m sure as any reasonable adult would understand, we limited our driving as much as possible which was very inconvenient for us. The most outrageous part to this review is that out of retaliation for the ticket received from the expired tag, Salman has filed a claim against me for $600 in damages on the car that we can physically prove(with photos) did not happen during our trip. With multiple phone calls to Turo customer service we’ve been given the “run around” basically just trying to get us to give up and pay them more money. This Telluride has had much body damage in the past and it has NOT been professionally fixed, so I know that I would not be the first person they try to get claim damage money from and not have it repaired. I have asked to see more detailed pictures of the claimed damage and they have declined my request. We have contacted Turo so many times asking how it’s possible to hold this host accountable, it seems very clear to us that he’s done it before and gotten away with it. The fact that he has expired plates and was able to rent out his car is unreal, Turo has no explanation or given us reassurance this can’t happen again. This is a scam, very shady, and preposterous…I certainly hope you don’t have to go through what I am going through. Turo has not only lost my business, they have lost colleagues of mine that also rent 30+ cars a year. ✌️

So I recently purchased a vehicle off of Turo and spent almost $500 for a vehicle!! I thought everything was fine and that my vehicle was secured after making my reservation , confirming everything with the host, and everything else required. After everything was said and done , Turo shut my account down without any explanation whatsoever!!! So now I’m out of $500 and have no rental car!!! They have yet to issue me a refund or even a reason as to why this has happened. I’m so frustrated and don’t know what to do about this situation!

DO NOT USE TURO! Turo does not care for its customers and only about profit. Their customer service is a laughing stock due to not one person seems to know what the other is doing (even with their “notes”) and they will send you in circles for hours and even days. They charge you extra fees and will not even help you with reimbursement! I was having issues with my payment method and a friend helped with one charge until I could get my new card placed on the app. Turo did not even attempt to charge my card upon the next payment and instead charged my friend’s card two more times! One being a fraudulent “late fee and gas fee” that did not belong as I had an agreement with the Host and gassed the vehicle up before returning. When attempting to understand why my friend’s card was charged I discovered that after they had charged that card these fees they closed my account so I couldn’t access any of the data. This company has terrible business practices and are immoral to the core. 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend.

Plane landed in Kauai. Text message from owner that last renter damaged car. I understand that stuff happens but….couldn’t talk to owner other than texts. She said they could get me another car but I would have to exchange it at 9 am the next day. Twenty mile drive back to airport. No position to argue so I said ok. She said they would cancel my reservation and make a new one. She said that Turo will call me. That call never happened. She said to get on the Turo shuttle to their lot-that’s the way they have to do it in Kauai. Well with no reservation number you can’t get on the shuttle. She also said that while we waited at the lot we could cross the street to Target if we needed the bathroom. Waited for a while and then took a taxi to our resort. Still no call. I finally got a hold of a customer representative and they are supposed to refund my money. Buyer beware. If something happens fix it.

If thinking of hosting on here…DONT!! They are horrible when it comes to supporting hosts! Find another platform unless you want your vehicle destroyed with no way of getting compensation. You pay them a percentage which covers insurance, but you will never use that insurance. They make it impossible. They state a no smoking policy, but I bet no one has ever gotten paid anything when one smokes, because the documentation needed does NOT exist. Even when I’ve had drivers agree to compensate for extra miles or not filling up the tank, the company has STILL denied my claims. I can’t believe this company is still a thing.

Formal Complaint Regarding Defective Car Remote and Unprofessional Conduct of Host Carlos I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against PopKa Rent a Car, particularly concerning the unsatisfactory rental experience I recently encountered, which involved the conduct of host Carlos. The details of my reservation are as follows: Reservation Number: 28819126 Rental Period: Friday, February 2, 2024 @ 5:00 pm through Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10:00 am Vehicle Model: 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe Upon my arrival at MCO airport at 4:30 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, I realized I had not received the location information for the vehicle, as promised. When I reached out to host Carlos for assistance, I was rudely informed that the rental would commence at 5:00 pm, and the location details would be provided then. This delayed response contradicted the terms outlined in the original contract, which guaranteed delivery of the car PRIOR to my arrival. The interaction with host Carlos had already set a negative tone for the rental experience. Upon receiving the location information at 5:12 pm, I found the vehicle unlocked, eliminating the need to use the remote at that time. However, upon attempting to lock the vehicle later, I noticed the remote did not emit the usual confirmation noise. Despite this, I proceeded with the rental. On Monday, February 5, 2024, I encountered further issues with the remote when attempting to unlock the vehicle, prompting frustration. Upon contacting host Carlos to report the problem, I was met with accusatory behavior, with Carlos insinuating that I had damaged the remote, despite it being unused throughout the weekend. Tuesday morning, around 7:00 am, I faced further difficulties with the remote, rendering me unable to access the vehicle. Following host Carlos's advice, I sought assistance from a family member and visited an auto parts store, only to discover that the remote required dealer attention, exacerbating the inconvenience. Though I managed to access the vehicle using the metal key inside the remote, I encountered a warning on the dashboard indicating that the key was not detected, despite its presence. Despite the warning, I continued my journey, only to encounter a "service required" light illuminated on the dashboard. Upon landing in New York, I was shocked to receive an email notification regarding a claim submitted against me by host Carlos, falsely accusing me. This unjust treatment left me deeply unsettled, raising concerns about potential exploitation for additional compensation. Despite the ordeal, I fulfilled my contractual obligations, returning the vehicle with gas refilled, leaving it unlocked with the parking ticket and key inside.

Be careful of Turo ! I rented a car from a guy in Montreal on Turo for 48 hours (a trip to Quebec), and I had the regular insurance on Turo, and the car got scratched by a dog while in the Parking place. I discovered that the insurance by Turo does not cover that, and of course the guy’s insurance covers everything, and they asked me to pay 1200 CAD, so I refused, then the estimated a cost of 600 CAD, and I refused, but they charged them directly on my Credit Card anyway, and now after more then a year, the come back to say that it costed more and they ask me for 1400 CAD as additional charges after repair… it’s a rip-off… so be careful of this scam company !!!

Host canceled last minute due to check engine light, and didn't get a refund going (only they can do), so I can't cancel the reservation meaning I can't make a new one, and I will be landing in 6 hours with 300 dollar more options now because it's close to the time window and prices went up everywhere. Just don't do it. Customer service can't even help. Reliant on the host who is non responsive.

The worse company. They are billing people for other peoples broken cars. Making people who rent broke people's cars to pay for things. They will lie and say their car is good. Then when you return it they make different claims. I'm stuck paying a 2k claim for something I didn't no. However, I'd need to hired a lawyer to deal with this.

A terrible, horrible experience. Sammy’s behavior was appalling and shameful. The host, Sammy Hernandez The pick-up: I twice communicated to him that I was returning a Budget rental car. I needed his car to be parked so I could unload the Budget rental car into his vehicle, return the Budget car, and come back to his parked car. He responded “Perfect” and “Yes” and then did not help me get his car in the way I explained I needed. While I was driving to meet him, I received a notice that my reservation had been canceled. He falsely told me, “The reservation was automatically canceled after 30 minutes” Turo told me that Sammy called them and canceled the reservation 34 minutes after the appointment. He knew I would meet him as I was actively messaging him. He purposefully canceled me to get more money. The cancellation fee was $108.90 He stated, “I could make it again” (rebook) The original reservation cost was $283.50 Rebooking the same trip, same car, and exact dates now cost me $362.27. With the cancellation fee, my total trip was now $471.17, almost $200 more than my original cost. The return: I messaged that I would meet him and return the car at the cell phone lot of Miami International Airport. He responded, “Perfect”. He agreed. After I returned the car, I received two additional charges on my credit card: $58.50 the day I returned it and $60.15 the next day. Both charges were initiated by Sammy for “improperly returning the car.” He agreed to the return. He agreed to the cell phone lot. Sammy’s behavior was an appalling and shameful effort to get more and more money from me repeatedly. What kind of person does this? I have spent hours on the phone with Turo. It is still not resolved. I had to close my credit card account to stop the seemingly endless charges from Turo. (6 charges so far) I went with Turo to save money. I have spent way more than a traditional rental car and received a vehicle that should not be on the road. The car is a 2015 Chevy Sonic. This car has multiple safety issues and should not be on the road. Safety Issues: 1. Both front tires are worn down to the tire wear indicator bars. These indicate the tires need to be replaced. This is a safety hazard. In his car description, Sammy falsely states, “New Tires.” 2. The side view mirrors are manually controlled, there is a lever inside the door to adjust the mirrors. This lever was not connected to the driver’s mirror. To adjust the mirror you had to roll down the window and move it with your hand. The mirror would not stay in the correct position, and every time you opened and closed the door, the mirror would move. You could pull into traffic, and the mirror could not be positioned correctly. This is a safety hazard. 3. The car’s windows were tinted. The rear window was very poorly done. There are innumerable air bubbles trapped under the tinting film. In daylight, the view is distorted. You cannot see out the rear window at nighttime or with rain or condensation. This is a safety hazard. General Issues: The car smelled of cigarette smoke. The steering wheel and controls were dirty; wiped with a paper towel, the towel became black. The car needs to be vacuumed. There is no working interior light, none. The car’s windows are tinted. The tinted windows combined with no interior light makes seeing anything inside the car impossible at night without a flashlight. The whole car vibrates with the vibration of the engine. The clock is not set on the correct time or date. The remote key fob works intermittently. In Conclusion: I am never using this “service” again. If you are still using this “service” avoid this “host”!

First and last experience with Turo. Insurance rates are too high, and too easy to be caught up having to pay for pre-existing conditions. For example my $230 3 day rental is now costing me $560 due to a small crack in a windshield. Not a fun experience. And been seeing a lot of run-around dealing with Turo themselves.

This just happened. I was told by so many people how wonderful Turo is and that I should stop renting cars from rental agencies. I found a car on Turo, excited that it was a Hybrid. I followed all the steps, sent a photo of my license and a selfie. Immediately after the host cancelled. I don’t know why. Turo sent me immediately an apology and sent me other options at a discount. I picked another hybrid, tried booking it only to find out that now my account is restricted and to get in touch with customer service, which I did immediately. They had no answer but is sending my account to a review board that does not accept calls. So Turo immediately deducts first full charge from my bank account and am told that it could take up to 10 days for the refund to show up. This was the worst experience. I need that money.
