Everything wrong place phone service awful left a seventy three year old man with health problems for three hours lied about everything getting Aylesbury and Gidea park mixed up I have contacted them with eight phone calls plus a letter plus they were charging me £336.00 pounds a year for breakdown cover this company are liars not to be trusted

I broke down on a motorway around 4:30pm and called RAC as I have full UK rescue and recovery. Long story short, (and after having to repeatedly call back as I had no updates) 8 hours later I was told that no one could come and recover me or the vehicle until the next morning. Over this time period, I was assured numerous time someone would be with me in an hour which never happened. I was also assured my case was on urgent as I was left a single young female, 2 hours from home in the middle of no where, and my phone was dying. 8 hours after breaking down and only then was I told that no one would be able to come untill morning. Which left me stranded with the only option to either spend 2 hours in a taxi with a stranger and no phone to contact anyone or having to sleep in the car. I was also asked to leave the keys of the car with a complete stranger at a petrol station which I was incredibly uncomfortable with. Eventually I had to get a family member to drive a 4 hour round trip to collect me at 2am. I had to leave the car abandoned. I was told on one of the calls that the car would have to stay there as 'the contractor said they where doing a favour but wont take the car and its not their job' Which I found absolutely disgusting, At one point, after waiting 6 hours, I was told someone was on their way - it then transpired that the operative on the phone didnt even have to notes to say where I was - absolutely unbelievable. I was given constant mis-information when I called and did not receive update when promised. I was absolutely terrified having been left for 13 hours in the dark and cold, so far from home with no contact. I was then assured that the car would be recovered first thing on the morning of 3rd July, Again, I had absolutely no updates. I called again at 9am and was told that still no one had been dispatched - and that someone would call me back with an update. An hour later, I had still heard nothing and had to call back again, Finally for the car to be back almost 24 hours after breaking down. I am absolutely shocked and disgusted at the service I received, it was an incredibly traumatic experience. Complete waste of time and money - The whole point in having this cover is for reassurance that if something goes wrong, you have peace of mind that there will be assistance to get you safely to your destination. This experience has been the complete opposite, the way this was handled put me in more danger than If I didnt have breakdown cover. I raised a complaint and asked for the calls to be listened to as it was completely unacceptable - this was not done. There was zero empathy or understanding when discussing the complaint and very little in the way of apology. I was told I could not escalate my complaint, and that they are not regulated by anyone. I also asked to be reimbursed for the petrol I had to pay a poor family member who had to come and get me and I was told absolutely not and It wont be looked at further. I would avoid at all costs, breaking down is stressful enough and the RAC made it 10 times worse

Disgraceful service. Left my 19 year old son and his dog on the side of the A55 on one of the hottest days of the summer. Refused to go out and rescue him, said his vehicle wasn't on the cover, funny they rescued him 2 years ago with the same vehicle. Call handler was very unhelpful, then he rang back and was told they could come out but wanted £200+ upfront and a 5 hour wait!!. Why have I been paying the RAC?? Not for much longer!

The RAC are abmisal.. I will be calling them on my next day off… to discuss breach of the breakdown agreement… I have business cover, they covered my ice cream vans and took my money no problem… now sat in a garage forecourt… waiting for them to turn up… currently on the phone to them, been waiting for 2 hours… Luckily I broke down in a garage and they had plug so I can plug my phone in.. as my problem is with my battery and lack of power to the van!!! So currently just over 4 hours on a forecourt… ice lollies defrosting in the back… and RAC don’t care.. they don’t even have enough staff to answer there phone.. If I was in middle of no where my phone would of been dead before they answered it… Honestly, I will NEVER use them again!!!

Waited 5 hours did not turn up, they don't answer the phone just texts to apologise for their non attendance very stressful. The time before a few months ago I had a flat tyre, the spare was also flat, they said they could repair the puncture but no RAC van turned up. I eventually got them to answer the phone they sent a tow truck waited 7 hours.

RAC car check After using them numerous occasions, last car check wrong amount of owners. There guarantee does not cover even though Experian have emailed me with said information and not covered!! Not using again. Does not honour there so called guarantee!!

Called RAC and no-one answered for 1 hr 30 mins. Meanwhile husband called Green Flag who ANSWERED AFTER ONE RING. They couldn’t help because the vehicle wasn’t covered with them but offered to send out a mechanic who arrived after 50 mins and we were able to continue our journey. The RAC should be ashamed of themselves. Do not give these people your money it is a complete waste of time.

Absolutely diabolical service I pay £18 per month for a non existent premium service Waited in excess of four hours for a phone call Noone to speak to Text after text saying Delayed delayed delayed In the end i Called a local Garage and they fixed it within one hour and also rang me several times to Update me and apologise for taking longer than expected Sacked off RAC now had them 23 years and this is the second time Let me Down so requesting a refund On my Premium rate Appalling service

Had a hole in my runflat Ty re and managed to crawl into a service station but couldn't pump the tyre up.tried calling the R.a.c but was diverted to the website to report problem It was logged by at 8:39pm,them I kept getting these generic texts saying that some one would be there soon and as we speak its 1:51am and still no one is I called them and held on the line for 41min and then got cut off.called back again and held on for 2hrs and still no answer and then got cut off.this is an asbsmaly service is and I for one will be calling my insurance company to get the R.A.C.take off my policy as it's not worth the paper it's written on.sorry but there's no excuse and I believe there using the covid as a one screen for there be very,very poor all outs! E

Absolutely appalling company, I called them at 9:30 a.m, made multiple calls throughout the day all of which telling me someone will be there within the next 1-1.5 hours. Eventually recovered at 5p.m and told that I needed to call rac to sort a cab (1st time it was mentioned to me) which then turned up over an hour after my truck was recovered. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT USE THE R.A.C

One star is too much! Broke down at 2.30pm. RAC coudn't find my details to start with because I wasn't on the correct system! Then advised that high volume of breakdowns due to good weather and relaxation of Covid lockdown rules. Advised that would be attended within 6 hours! Got texts advising that working hard to attend but too busy attending earlier breakdowns. Would update in 30 mins. Got same text every 30 mins until 7pm when text advised that we had been prioritised and someone would call shortly. No call until 9pm. Told that a trusted partner would attend soon. Eventually recovered by local firm at 10.45pm. They provided an excellent service but the service and communication from RAC has been appalling. 8 hrs from breakdown to attendance! Phoning to get updates results in lengthy periods of holding and being advised that we will just have to wait. I have been with RAC for 5 years and have never had to call before. I was wrongly under the impression that the RAC provided a first class service. Will switch to another provider at renewal.

Waited 4 hours for RAC recovery, first time using in 3 years of paying RAC for breakdown cover. Complete waste of money, cancelling today :)

Cannot fault the service from the RAC. My battery went flat and within 15 minutes I had a call from the driver James to say he'd be with me in 20 minutes. Sorted my car straight away, gave very good advice, am extremely happy with the service I received today. Thank you!

Absolutely awful. Where do you start? I took out a one year membership expecting it to just lapse at the end of that year with the option to renew at my will. They seem to hike the cost for the second year and make it as problematic as possible to cancel. They then took £209 from our account without permission. And then wanted £25 for asking for the money back. Getting the money back seems impossible. Poor customer service. Call centre full of inexperience, takes a age to speak to anybody. Fob off experts. The RAC use contract breakdown services for recovery. You can access these through 'Greenflag' for a fraction of the cost. You are not getting a premium service with the RAC, You are being shafted.

8 hours waiting for someone to attend me. Not happy. Avoid this company. It happened 2 weeks in a row. Waiting time 8 hours. On the phone very rude. Put phone down at me 3 times. No help just rude. I would say AVOID AVOID AVOID

One star is far too many! Absolutely useless, lack of communication, no care, treated like a moron, kept on hold for ages then just cut off. Waited nearly ten hours to be ‘recovered’ and then only because I made at least 15 phone calls to them. They are an utter disgrace, would not recommend ever!!
