Dreadful service, took over 3 hours to get towed away to a convenient place, asked them top take vehicle to our garage (200 miles away) as per cover, they said no it was too late at night just call in the morning and we will take it then. Did that and they said no they would need to charge "quite a lot" to take it away. Vehicle now stranded 200 miles away and RAC not interested. Avoid at all costs.

6 hours still waiting. ..my opinion of aRAC has diminished. Appalling service waiting on telephone abrupt call handlers but women not so aggressive apologetic. One driver smelt of alcohol and was rude so I called another . Their service has worsened for the last 3 occasions and I've been a member 15 years hardly used them but am going to AA now. Am alone on M25 with cat terrified

With rac for 18 years.3 call outs, 2 local no problem. One last year hours and hours before we got home. No support, nobody keeping in touch and then renewal price, ridiculous. No thought that we had been loyal customers for 18 years, weren't offered a good deal . Don't use them.

Purchased a warranty with my new used car, thought it was with the RAC but it turns out to be administered by TWG Services. BE AWARE!!! Obviously conned by the garage at the outset (Chorley Group) when they told me I had a warranty with the RAC. Radiator has sprung a leak at the weld and TWG said its not covered as its a consumable part, on their thinking everything is a consumable part. Every warranty I have since looked at has the radiator covered within the policy. We arent talking a stone chip through the fins which wouldnt be covered its a breakdown of the structure of the radiator. I have read since that they don’t want to pay anything to anybody and will use any clause or reason to avoid paying out. Disgusted with them and the garage I bought the vehicle from (Chorley Group). Don’t have anything to do with either firm and beware of RAC WARRANTIES!! RAC should stop this practise immediately as its bringing their otherwise good name into disrepute. Thats if they still have a good name. Garages shouldn’t be allowed to sell warranty with a misleading name on front page. BEWARE DONT ACCEPT A CAR WITH A RAC WARRANTY!!”Mis-sold Warranty. TWG Services Hiding behind RAC's good name.

Waited 5 hours for the RAC to appear, following my car break down. A policeman stopped and told me that there were no accidents in the area, despite what the RAC were suggesting, on the various phone calls to them and they even told me that I had made a call, when I had not (suggesting that I was being a nuisance for calling them). I was stuck on the thin grass verge of a very busy dual carriageway and only when I said that I was going to complain, they magically found a tow truck operator, who towed me to work. This tow truck operator was an independent operator so, having waited for 5hours and lost 5 hours pay (as I was going to work), the RAC did not actually turn up at all!. I would definitely not recommend this service.

Phoned my insurance company who I had breakdown cover with, as my car wouldn't start this morning. Which was strange as we just been out only a hour previously. It turns out the ignition lock key is broken so he by passed it so we could still drive it safely until we get a new part. As tomorrow we go on holiday for a week. Thanks Phil for your help

We are oaps and we have always had excellent service from the RAC. spanning 50 years but luckily for us no more than 10 times but worth every penny because that's one of the things with the RAC you don't have to worry about. In the last month we've called them twice. Once for a flat battery. The phone was answered promptly and friendly by the call centre. The Engineer turned up within 20 mins. Tried to get the car to turn over and as the RAC battery was still under guarantee replaced it with a new one. He was very PROFESSIONAL and customer friendly. The second time the car was making a horrible grating noise and I had to limp home. Again the call centre responded immediately. The PROFESSIONAL customer friendly engineer turned up within 40 minutes. Replaced some pins near the front axle. Job done. So to sum up they might be old fashioned but it's been sevice with a smile. Pete McClelland ps the rating button doesn't work but it's a five star plus

These guys are an absolute riot of a company. The recent reviews on here are shocking and it looks like they need to be shut down. I've just had two days of them not giving a damn about the customer, making me wait hours and hours without any communication at all. They are in cahoots with certain garages and seem to prioritise work based on that - and whether or not they'll make money from buying a part from EuroCarParts (who they have their accounts and commissions with). I gave up on day 2 and tracked down a local mechanic to replace a damaged part that I bought from a parts shop. Avoid at all costs. I had good experiences with them a few years back but it looks like they can't cope or just don't care now.

These people had my wife waiting for THREE WHOLE HOURS before they decided to tell her they couldn’t find the recovery vehicle that was dispatched. Had her waiting till 1.30 in the morning. A hardworking nurse who pays good money for a nonexistent service. Not professional.

Abject. 2 Occasions they let me down. One time on a motorway, whereupon the Highways agency lifted us to a service station and waited 2 hours for a no show. Secondly, a no show after drained battery and luckily a model citizen gave me some jump leads. Trust is earned and RAC are beyond a joke. Abject.

Bunch of unprofessional mongs. Left me waiting for over 9 hours into early hours of the morning. Cancelled the breakdown and didn't notify me. Contacted me 2 times in an 9 hour period and kept entering the wrong addresses.

Couldn't have asked for a better service, so informative, pleasant, nothing was a bother, I was taken to the garage who had fixed a timing belt but left bolts loose and one missing, rac explained to lad at garage what they hadn't done, excellent service from shaun the rac man, will stay with rac for the good service it provides

Very very poor Very very poor, RAC rep who came to rescue me gave me incorrect information about the cost and took me to his possibly linked/tied-up garage to fix a small issue so he can get commission. Eventually I ended up paying 3x more cost than local garage and many more than the actual value of the car without which they will not release my car. Also, despite several complains made online on RAC website contact no response received.

Beyond joke , completely clueless people work on the phone and very slow response when you need them give impression that they doing a favour on you instead of bloody paid service. Been 3 Hours still waiting near a motorway and was told I will be a priority 😡. After several calls someone telling me another recovery will come in next hour. Absolute joke of a company and deceiving.

On the 25h June 2020 I had broken down on Burnt Ash Hill, Lee, SE12 0AA 17:39pm I made a call to arrange for some breadown recovery 17:40pm:I then received a message confirming the breakdown was logged, I was told that someone would be with me between 90mins - 4hours however I should receive a call in half an hour to get an update 18:32: Called RAC to get an update as I was parked in a dangerous spot, was told I would get a text in 10minutes 19:11: Called again as I still received no updates 20:20: Received a text message to inform me patrol was on their way and would be with me in 30minutes 20:52: Gary (RAC Patrol) arrived. Attempted to jump start the car, claims he knew nothing about BMW 1 Series but knew that the crank sensor needed replacing wihout doing anything but jump starting it! 20:55: Gary logged for a tow truck to be arranged and said RAC would contact me in 10mins to give me an update on when the tow truck would be arriving. 21:25: I called RAC to find out what was going on as I received no update whatsover, was again told I would receive a call in 5 minutes 22:01: I receive a message from C&S saying they would be attending my vehicle however with no ETA 22:20: I replied asking roughy how long 22:22: C&S = ETA will be before 1am 22:35: I replied saying it is unacceptable as I have been waiting from 17:39pm and they should have been sent the job at 21:00 to which I was told was done by Gary 22:43: C&S = JOB WAS SENT TO US BY RAC AT 10PM ON A 3HR ETA ILL UPDATE YOU ONCE A DRIVER IS ASSIGNED 22:44 - I replied that it is ridiculous and that i would call RAC 22:48 I called RAC to enquire what was going on as it was getting dark, I was parked in a dangerous place, I was alone in a dangerous area and could not leave my car as the electrics had gone and the windows were down as well as my car key stuck in the car, I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE!!!! RAC then told me to call the police if I felt unsafe and that they would stay with me until the tow truck arrives. I am 100% sure the police have much more important work to do than to wait around for 4 hours for a tow truck. I then decided to make my own arrangements for a tow truck to tow me down to a garage as there was no way I was going to put myself in a uncomfortable position until early hours of the morning!! 23:44: C&S Tow truck arrives 23:45 My tow truck arrives I am not impressed with the service of both RAC breakdown call centre, the patrol sent out and the length of time I waited in a DANGEROUS place, by MYSELF, in a UNKNOWN AREA as I am from North London, where I felt both UNCOMFORTABLE and VULNERABLE. I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE. I made MULTIPLE calls to RAC becuse I was so scared, thankfully I had my phone fully charged before I left my house! If I had known this was the service you provided I wouldnt have become a member and wouldnt have counted on you in my time of need!

Called at 5pm yesterday after breaking down on the A34. Was told somebody would be with us within 20 minutes. After 3 hours a patrol finally came, said he could not fix the issue and that it would cost £269 to get it towed. After him telling us recovery should be within the hour and I would be receiving a call in 20 minutes to give me an exact time I paid as I wanted to get my kids out of this unsafe situation. Hour later, nobody had got back to us. Called RAC who notified us that it would take up to 6am for somebody to get to us! I requested a refund as I said we should have been made aware of FACTUAL waiting times instead of FICTITIOUS ones to make us depart with our money. After several phone calls, eventually the resolution, seeing as I also had my 3 small kids in the car, was that they would get us a taxi from the location to our home and a recovery vehicle will get my car within the next 2.5 hours. After arriving home I received a call from a contracted recovery person saying that could not find my car at the service station... My car was never at a service station. An RAC patrol man easily found us to get our money but at 8:49am the next day nobody can seem to find my car after me paying £269. I have not slept, I have felt guilty about my 3 girls screaming in the back of my car because it was pitch black where we were parked, the windows of my car were left down as they would not go up due to battery/electric fault and after four phone calls just this morning and every person I have spoke 2 telling me somebody will be calling me back, I am still waiting for just 1 phone call. Deeply disappointed and upset. I have been messed about so much, paid a huge amount of money and still have no car to show for it. This all could have been avoided if RAC had said they have no resources to help and to try elsewhere instead of taking money for a service you clearly could not provide. Staff need training in not to lie for money because my kids did not deserve what they went through. 2:40pm They have said my vehicle is on the way to me but cant tell me how far it has travelled or where it is. They even asked me for payment AGAIN to get my car towed to me
