I appreciate the weather is bad but my son was left stranded on a busy dual carriageway way. He rang at around 6.30pm and was told there would be a recovery vehicle within 1hr 30.. At around 9pm the traffic police turned up because he was in a dangerous position..after several repeat phone calls the recovery turned up at MIDNIGHT!!!!! There was no shelter and it was too dangerous to sit in the vehicle.. . Can't fault the recovery driver he got the car to a garage then got him to work (night shift )where he will now loose 6 hrs pay!!.

I had a membership for nearly a year. Then found out they were automatically going to renew it. I never agreed to this when I signed up. I logged into my account on their website to cancel the automatic renewal, but there was no way to do this. I spoke to someone on the web chat to ask for it to be cancelled. They said they couldn't do it and said someone would ring me back, no one did. I emailed them and received an automatic reply saying it would take 5 working days for someone to respond - this would have been beyond my renewal date! Finally I got through to someone called Lara to cancel the renewal on the phone and they asked me three times why I was cancelling. For some reason she wouldn't accept my reason that I just didn't want to renew it and became quite rude. I asked for confirmation and was told it would take 2 weeks to confirm this. Dreadful customer service!

Hopeless. This is the first time I've used RAC and I am not impressed. I was told there would be a 3 hour wait before anyone would come out. This is in the centre of a city, not some remote wilderness. I was told that they were busy. Well, get more vans on the road because three hours is not acceptable and not what I paid for when I joined. I phoned a local tyre place and they came out ten minutes later and replaced my tyre - no extra charge for the call out. Brilliant. I called RAC back to cancel the callout. It took another 10 minutes for them to answer the phone. Later, I called customer care to make a complaint. Guess what? It's 4 pm and they have all gone home. No wonder they can't run a rescue service. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely terrible and dangerous. Kept me waiting alone, middle of the night, freezing cold for FOUR hours from 10pm-2am without giving me any updates about whereabouts of the ‘fuel doctor.’ I had to cancel in the end. DO NOT USE THEM.

Please avoid RAC. The WAIT is too long and they do NOT care about SAFETY. May save £10 but I'd rather pay more and have the AA with me rapidly and who cares about my safety with better customer care. Broke down due to no fuel. Phoned rac and they wanted £10 when fuel can can take £5 and get most people to a fuel station. RAC worker said he would put this info on the computer and the wait should be 45 min to 2 hours (be aware I broke down at night on my own abstracting traffic). Asked for my number so I could be kept updated with how far away he or she would be. Instead of bringing me the fuel they sent out a recovery truck (disproportionate and more expensive). Man who came out asked how long I had been waiting because I walked to get fuel myself. He said he had just been informed about me and was only around the corner....this would mean it took at least 25minutes for the man at RAC to book the breakdown in. Further supported by me never recieving a call.  Broke down another time and was waiting over 3 hours during the day time and the excuse RAC use is we are busy today. The workers never ask about the drivers safety ....are you alone, with kids, in a dangerous place.

I hear rac terminate staff contracts for employees taking of long time off sickness after they have a had a major life changing operation after being involved in a serious car accident. Surely this cant be true I thought to myself, but unfortunately I hear it is. This would be the same situation if a member of the rac colleague broke their arm permanently and was diagnosed disabled then the rac would terminate their contract rather than help them. Im sure rac must be breaking some kind of law and it shows they are heartless with no compassion for their staff. I hope the poor fella that lost his job makes aspeedy recovery and appeals and get his job back or il be cancelling my rac membership and posting this news all over all social media platforms. If rac are reading this message you the member of your staff works in the Walsall branch that overlooks the M6 west midlands.

Our rear driver's side alloy sheared and the tyre blew out at 60mph on Saturday 18th November 2017. I called Nissan Emergency Assistance right away and they sent an RAC mechanic to assist. The call was plucked from their system before I even put the phone down to Nissan and the chap, by the name of Alan Goligher, phoned me within a few minutes of picking up this call. What a guy!! Alan was with us, the wheel was replaced and we were on our way home (another 68 miles) within 1 hour from placing my original call. An incredible service and an incredible gentleman RAC sent to assist us. Thank you to all involved.....better than a 5 star service for me!

The RAC are always prompt and very polite. Today I had to use them from home and the service was once again excellent with Hugh 5166 in attendance. Having 'phoned at 1.40pm they arrived at approx 2.35pm and I just wanted to let RAC know how grateful I am.

We called up on 6 occasions to try to chase this up but was told new estimated times every time and lied to during a couple of those calls. The day after the breakdown I called to complain but was instead verbally abused. When I complained to the manager he said "sorry he shouldn't of said what he did I'll have a word". I've submitted a written complaint and got a reply saying I would get a response within 20 days. 5 weeks later I am still waiting. I've called on 5 occasions chasing a response and was advised I would be called back by a manager in each of these calls. No manager has returned any of these calls. I've also sent 3 chaser emails without a response. I've now had to contact the financial ombudsman and it seems I'm not the only one to have such a bad experience.  Avoid at all costs! It's a complete waste of money and there staff are very rude

Left my daughter on m4 hard shoulder for 2 hours until 1.30 am telling her she was a priority for being female and on m4. Police phoned them in the end because someone phoned them about a vulnerable young girl on the m4 under a bridge in the dark !

Absolute joke to say the least broke down today at 12 pm was told I would have to wait to 2 30 for recovery which I surprise wasn't to bad then the fun begins . Didn't turn up then was told 3.30 no show then 4.15 no show then 5.30 no show then 6pm no show then to top it off was told be after 7pm , at that point I told them to stick it and got my own independent recovery , and heard every excuse in the book . Firstly you had me waiting for the confirmed 90 minutes, only to tell me it would actually be a further hour after i called you back. Then i'm told it will be a further 2 hours... fortunately that 2 hours turned out to be 40 minutes. After which i had to wait an additional 2 hours for a pick up, which only took so long to begin with because you didn't believe i had MOT. Fortunately the mechanic (Ken) had the good sense to check the DVLA site and not just your own. I was also told i could get a tow to a destination required, which i called to do today only to be told that's not in fact the case. The service has been terrible so far and i cannot wait for it to expire as i will not be renewing.

Fail to meet the recovery time I've been given on multiple occasions and failed to notify me of this, leaving me stranded with a motorcycle.

My wife broke down at home and I was working away the patrolman came out and plugged in his laptop and diagnosed intermittent airmass meter fault told her he had cleaned the codes and ok to drive even though he did not open the bonnet and check for anything obvious she drove the car for about a week which ended up going into limp mode a second visit from the rac which the patrolman did not even open the bonnet said we had a second sensor fault which I couldn’t believe after some investigation I found I had a split intercooler hose which has lead to the dpf filter becoming blocked going to cost me hundreds to repair all due to the rac and customer service is a complete joke would not recommend

Left me stranded as a woman alone in France with a dog for 8 weeks with their comprehensive European cover. Refused to repatriate after their garages charged 2k in faulty repair work. 5k can had to be scrapped in France. Awful company !

I rang the RAC this week to come out to our car 'at home' because the earliest. appointment I could get at the Nissan garage was the 19th October!! The gentleman that arrived having only waited 1/2 hour was excellent! He fixed the problem within minutes as it was a Battery problem!! I certainly would not hesitate to call them out again if necessary.
