Horrible company to deal with - hours and hours on the phone and no success. not worth the stress

Do not ever deal with this company, they keep you waiting for lengthy periods then cut you off, turn up with the wrong parts, damaged my washing machine and floor by ripping it out and tearing a pipe, flooding the floor. Duelled billed me for years. Really really bad service.

They are not even worth the one star three times they have let me down. I cancelled them once but when I had a new cooker it was automatically put through to them for insurance. I need them again now and they have told me to telephone Hotpoint and sort it myself as they didn't know when any engineers slots are free. What they hell!!! I thought this is what I was paying for. I intend to cancel them tomorrow and never want to hear their name again.

Our D&G fridge freezer broke down. We told D&G we needed a replacement. They sent us a list of potential fridge freezers we could have. After selecting one and waiting a week for it to arrive (with no fridge in the meantime) we were told by delivery men on it's arrival that the fridge was the wrong fitting. They asked who had suggested this fridge as a possible replacement. When we told them D&G had recommended it they said "that explains it". After being kept on hold for hours we finally managed to order a replacement for the replacement. However, were told that it would take three weeks to be delivered. The day before delivery, someone from D&G phoned to let us know that the second model we had ordered (and was due to be delivered tomorrow) had actually been discontinued and delivery cancelled. There was no apology or even acknowledgement of how poorly they had dealt with the situation. After telling D&G we were now just simply willing to accept any fridge freezer they could send us as soon as possible, were under the impression that a fridge freezer suitable for our kitchen would FINALLY be delivered and the matter resolved. Four days later, the fridge was delivered. Once again, the delivery men stated that it was not the correct fitting to go with the sliding doors. Having waited over a month for a fridge of any kind, we told them we would still like the fridge despite it not being the ideal design. The delivery men agreed and set the fridge up. Matter resolved? No. A few hours later D&G rang to say the fridge needed to go back to them so they could sort out the correct doors for it. After going through the entire chronology and making it clear that we will not be giving up this fridge until a replacement one is physically in front of us, we are currently on hold with D&G as they try to decide their next move. Getting to the stage that we even have a fridge, no matter how unsuitable for our kitchen, has been such a strenuous ordeal that we will literally barricade ourselves in before giving it up for them to adapt the doors (which will no doubt take weeks on end). In conclusion, an absolute joke company that we can't wait to cut ties with. Will NEVER deal with them again, and similarly to another customer I would rate them 0 out of 5 if at all possible.

Do not bother with their boiler service. Poor conduct and misrepresentation - did not have an engineer to attend to the boiler, asked me to have it fixed and they would reimburse me for the costs incurred. 2 months are over and still have not received the monies.

Never ever ever ever ever get Domestic and Generals repair and care plan, it is beyond useless and the engineers they use will leave LIVE WIRES in your kitchen with two small children at home. My washer dryer broke and AO sold me the plan saying you are not charged anything except the monthly fee, sounded great so I signed up. I am now on my 6th visit from the engineers to get the washer dryer fixed, it will be two and a half months without a washing machine with two small children. 1st visit - Engineer diagnosed a broken heater and snapped belt, ordered parts and booked in the next appointment for two weeks time! 2nd visit - Engineer fits new belt and heater, the engineer leaves and we put on a wash, hooray we thought! Half an hour into the wash the washing machine loses power and wont drain. 3rd visit - Engineer diagnoses faulty system board and orders a new one, books another appointment for two weeks time! 4th visit - Engineer pulls out machine to fit system board on discover LIVE WIRES behind the machine, the first engineer had fitted the wrong sized belt that flew off and severed the power cable, the second engineer was too lazy/incompetent to pull the machine out to find this. Engineer orders new power cable and books appointment in for two weeks time! 5th visit - Engineer fits power cable, starts machine and the belt won't stay on, he orders a new drum, pully, heater and belt, books an appointment in for a weeks time. 6th visit - cancelled by Domestic and General without informing me and my complaint it ongoing. The whole process is so stressful, the two week gaps in appointments is just unreasonable and the lack of communication is awful. AVOID

The worst insurance, they automatically renew without permission, daylight robbery is what I would call it

I have cancelled my Credit card, and D&G found my information again, they blamed my bank.. which it wasn't my bank who leaked my information, it was D&G who seeked the information through a "reader" information they can use to track down any new card you have. Using an "updater servicer" They check data between Mastercard, Visa etc. Poor form of D&G to reseek my information without my permission and blame my bank.

By far the worst insurance company. They accept your money for insurance and then find every excuse they can to not cover you. They asked me to pay for my own engineer with the promise that I will be reimbursed and have now said complaints are ‘looking into it’. I have to wait another three days to be contacted after already being left for a week without a fridge/freezer. I have a toddler in the house and they know this and have it on record and they still don’t have any sense of urgency. I can’t actually believe they have done this and made me £100 out of pocket for an engineer and now won’t cover my appliance when they were the ones who phoned me to take the policy out. They also make you send evidence to an email that isn’t properly managed and emails are constantly lost and you then have to keep sending the same thing multiple times. If you want cover for your appliances I would highly recommend not using this company this has caused so much stress for something they should have rectified.

We purchased Hoover Hwash 300 lite in may this year from AOL very very noisy when in a spin my wife reported this and was told if no fault found she would be charged for call out ,engineer stated that the motors are now loud when spinning so no fault found I gather this is a standard con trick so customers take out warranty rather than pay charge the machine is under warranty its only4 months old and motors are not noisy as this is deafening ,I have video of machine in spin cycle and been told by a real Hoover engineer that its ? So I will contact AOL tomorrow and demand machine is replaced and your con insurance will be cancelled, I will take legal action against you regarding this I am sending video to RIP off Britain to expose your con tricks , F McCully wishaw engineer is lucky I work away from home

would have given 0 stars if possible. terrible terrible service from customer services. i have now been without a washing machine for over 6 weeks with the same problem the engineer came today and booked parts which will take up to 4 working days to arrive, so i have to take another day off work to sit and wait for the engineer. i spoke to domestic and general who put me through to their complaints department or customer service agent named Carly who kept telling me to lower my tone which was according to her very rude and very loud, which i am sure she herself would have had the same tone out of frustration if she was getting fobbed off for all these weeks. not helpful at all, they are very happy to take our money each month but when it comes to paying out they are a nightmare. NEVER will i use domestic and general again. complete rip off merchants. lets see if they end up fixing my machine

worst service ever, please run and never look back, i have a boiler cover with Scottish power, which falls under Domestic & General, they kept on taking the wrong amount monthly, and when called to complain i was told i do not even have a boiler care and i just had an engineer come out last month to service my boiler, i was on the phone for hours trying to resolve this issue until I got frustrated and told them to cancel the service and put me through to the complaints team, after getting through to the complaints team after holding for an hour, some guy by the name of gary told me to hang on a second he was going to read my file, i was on hold for another 20min before someone came back to the phone and cut the call, i currently still do have all my home appliances covered with thses includes TV, fridge and cooker etc which i have now cancelled Domestic & General UK, its just hurtfull part is that after paying for all this money for years they just keep your money with no fund policy which is a SCAM really, but hopefully this actually reach someone and hopefully some actully takes responsibilty, because its just a SCAM really.

Very poor customer service, I booked a dishwasher repair but D&G didn’t not communicate my repair request to the service engineers my husband took a special unpaid day off work in anticipation for the arrival of the engineers. When I called D&G to confirm the time of engineers arrival they told me that they had not communicated the repair request to the service company therefore no availability was now available. They issued me a complaint reference and transfered my call to resolution department who I thought would help me find a solution to my problem but having spoken to Tim who instead of helping had attempted to tell me that it was my fault to book the service repair online (question why advertise to book online if you want us to call and book repair) secondly he advised that as I have extended 2 year manufacturing warranty he told me that I should not book repair with D&G but with the manufacturer (second question WHY IS D&G TAKING MONEY IF WE CAN NOT USE THEM UNTIL AFTER THE 2 YEAR WARRANTY. SHOULD THEY BE TAKING MONEY AFYER THE 2YEAR WARRANTY EXPIRES. In essence this means that D&G TAKE MONEY FOR NOTHING AND DONOT PROVIDE YOU THE SERVICE UNTIL THE END OF THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. so be very careful if they policy before taking out the insurance with D&G as they are con-artist after your money. I will be cancelling my service and reporting the to the financial regulator and trading standards agency .

Fridge failure twice on 2 months. Failed repair. I'll and disabled customer who stores life saving medicines in the fridge. Insurgent response, a repair booked for 5 days away. Callous, vile call handlers who stated appliances not designed to store medications. Tell that to the millions of diabetics and epileptic who need a fridge. Disgusting and dangerous. I could die waiting.

fter waiting 4 weeks for a new screen they brought the wrong one. Also cancelled an appointment after zI had to lose a days wages because the can only give you an all day appointment. Not even an appology The same thing happened once before Unfortunately D and G use them. I have contacted BBC watchdog who said they will look into it as this is one of many complaints. I pay £9 a month and left with no TV for the whole World Cup and lose £150 for a days work and now have to wait another 3 weeks worst company Ive ever dealt with

We have been paying for many years for tumble dryer, washing machine and dishwasher care plan. We cancelled washing machine and dishwasher care plan 2 yrs ago but when we had washing machine plan, they replaced our previous expensive Dyson washing machine with much cheaper Hotpoint WMEF963 washing machine which recently started leaking water from bottom. We also have recently cancelled our tumble dryer care plan with them. We have had care plan for many yrs on our expensive Bosch condenser tumble dryer, (20 yrs old) but when it recently stopped working they replaced it with a much cheaper Hotpoint 8kg graphite condenser tumble dryer worth £258 from ao (they only gave me choice of 2 models). I had to wait good 7 days for delivery. Customer service agents can also be quite rude and not very helpful when you ring. If you ring D and G customer service agents, they will then tell you to ring the manufacturer yourself to arrange the repair.
