It all started extremely well, I paid for the full insurance at the time of booking, only to find out after I dropped the car off two days later that I had been charged £43.00 for one day 0% excess. Phoned the Gatwick office and the very off hand man I had dealt with two days before who had been charming, turned extremely rude and hung up!

Unfortunately there is no option to give 0 star!! I seriously don’t have words to explain how terrible their service is. You start the experience with a long bus wait and journey from Edingburgh airport to the rental office, the hours of wait starts pissing you off, then you realise that even though you opted to get extra insurance while ordering, they take £1250 in advance as a deposit in case you damage the car! You probably end up with no money in your account to enjoy your holiday.. They have the most terrible offices with the rudest staff who provide no help.. We ended up waiting for 2 hours and leaving without taking the car as we were so fed up with everyhing about Easirent. Avoid at all cost..

Manipulation of people's situation. Threatened to leave my wife stranded. Fraud and extortion.

Called when I arrived at the airport and told that they were over booked. Enquired with other vendors in the airport and told that there had been several others complaining of being over booked by Easirent, and that's just the ones that they know off.

The online booking process went easily and swiftly enough and the price was very competitive, but the experience at the rental company Easirent nr Manchester Airport was far from easy, taking an unacceptable amount of time and patience. I do not plan to book with Easirent ever again. The staff were adequately friendly, but it was a very long and slow process to complete the paper work and get the car to the customer (in my case it was approx 1 hour from arrival at the car rental place until I was able to leave with the rental car). The car return was somewhat quicker (15 minute wait for the return to be registered and then a 20minute wait for the shuttle bus to arrive and for me to be driven to the airport) - But again, this is absolutely not acceptable. Luckily I returned the car 3 hours before my flight and so I was not in danger of missing it, but under normal circumstances the customer would be risking missing a flight with those unexpectedly long turn around times. I got the impression that the Manchester Airport Easirent office was understaffed and not at all prepared for the amount of customers arriving. All the customers collecting their rental cars at the same time as me were having to wait a long time and there was a lot of complaining & dissatisfaction expressed. One couple told me they had to wait one and a half hours to get their car. Also there was much dissatisfaction regarding the blocking of £1250 or similar amount on a credit card to cover excess (for those who had taken a separate excess insurance policy that was offered during the online booking). If that amount had not been available on my credit card, I could only have rented the car if I had paid for another insurance with Easirent to reduce the excess. I have rented countless cars all over the world and no company has ever needed to block such an amount. It was confusing and, though I was told that it was all explained in the small print, I think customers need to be made more aware of this during the booking process so they can prepare. Every customer I saw at at the time I was there, was surprised by this policy and one customer ended up cancelling the booking because of it. Furthermore I chose to take the car with a full tank and return with full tank. When I got the car I was told it was 3/4 full and so I was to return it 3/4 full. I refused...How are you supposed to know when you have filled the tank 3/4? It was then suggested I could have the car with a full tank if I wait another 15mins - time for them to drive to the petrol station and fill the tank. Seeing as I had already had a 45 minute wait and was not in a hurry, I accepted that option and we managed to resolve the problem. As I said, the staff were friendly and cooperative enough, but, in my opinion, the organisation, efficiency and customer care need serious attention.

AVOID this company. I travel once a month from Scotland to N. Ireland to visit my elderly mother who is in poor health. Each time I hire a car at Belfast International airport and all the rental companies I have used (Budget, Hertz, Firefly, Eurocar, Dooley) have been excellent. A week ago Friday I used Easirent for the first time. I appreciate there are good companies (all those I had used so far) bad companies (up to now none in the car rental sector) but this is the first time I’ve found any company that I’d actually describe as “Evil”. I booked through Money Supermarket/Economy bookings/ Easirent. The money supermarket website allows you to choose round hours only. As my plane was arriving at 10-30 (flight number included in the booking) I selected 10pm. The plane was on time and I called the Easirent number provided on arrival. The person who answered was very unclear (not a native English speaker) but after several repeats I worked out where I would be picked up. After a very long wait I was eventually picked up and transported to a very remote pick up site well away from the airport. The attendant on arrival went through the check in procedure. He added a hefty charge for late pick up, even though I arrived at the planes expected arrival time (the flight number was given at the time of booking). I told him I thought this was unfair and I intended to complain and asked for details of who to complain to. They weren’t supplied. He was clearly stressed out and became aggressive and frankly insulting. I am a very calm person, was polite, never raised my voice but told him I would also complain about how he had behaved. At this point he told me he was refusing to provide the car I had hired online and demanded that I leave the building. I again explained that I needed a car to get to my mother’s house 70 miles away, explained the particular circumstances with my ill mother (who was on the phone worrying), that I was willing to pay his “late fee” (though restated that I would complain in writing after the hire). I asked that he call his manager to resolve maters but he declined to do so saying that he was the manager. At this point he told me he would call the police if I didn’t leave. I suggested calling his manager would be a more positive solution but I would be very happy to speak to the police if he called them. He they called the police and after his third call they arrived several hours later. The two officers (who I’m sure had more important things to do on a Friday night) were extremely helpful. They drove me around all the local car rental companies (which unfortunately long since closed), asked permission from their superiors to drive me to my mother’s house (which unfortunately was declined due to other events they were needed for) and eventually took me to a taxi company who drove me to my destination for a fee of £75. Having landed at 10-30pm I got to my destination around 4am. So, a tale of two attitudes. The police service who were superb and I will be writing to the chief constable to say thank you, and Easirent who not just had bad service but were actively vindictive. I have recorded our discussions on my telephone should you require them.

Really should have read the reviews prior to hiring the car. Some very similar problems as per most the pickup took over an hour which then made me late for a meeting. I then took the car after only a short inspection, huge mistake! The pick up and drop off site would make me assume this is a rogue franchise and reading other reviews certainly back this up! Cheapest isn’t always the best be very careful when booking and avoid if possible.

When you have a nightmare about renting a car where you can't get your flight because they won't let you leave because of imaginary or already existing scuff or bonnet chip....this is the company. Horrible nasty grabbing staff trained to rip you off. When you arrive they will find a reason some odd document or age or anything they can think of to charge you extra. Then additional insurance . Then your card will be the wrong type. They know they've got you by the balls. On return a mess of paperwork only resolved by you paying more will ensue. The cars are usually wet when you collect so you cannot see scratches. Later ... they will see the scratches. They all smell and the frightened and frightening staff like cornered dogs will get more money from you. When you arrive you will see unhappy customers. Tomorrow that will be you. Beware the stupid reviews naming individual staff . Absolute boswelox DO YOURSELF A MASSIVE FAVOUR AND PAY ANOTHER TWENTY OR THIRTY QUID. I HAVE WARNED YOU.

Don't go near them. I brought 2 different utility bills to prove my address, but Derek at Glasgow said my passport was still needed. He quickly reversed that decision, but I got the impression this was a ploy & he was trying to take advantage of me being stressed by this, so he could then sell me further insurance. Was told I would have to pay an extra £25/day for the 7 days, adding £175 to what was a £65 weekly cost, because my credit card only had £1000 limit! I'm so glad at this point I went next door to Enterprise, losing my deposit. They're a bunch of Ned, cowboys!!

Wouldn’t even give this one star if there was an alternative option - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. - first of all they demanded two pieces of evidence of address. This wasn’t in the terms I agreed to via Expedia but they insisted that they had to do an address check and charge me an additional amount to do it. - they said they would put a hold of £1250 on my card in case the car got scratched. If I didn’t want that I would have to pay an extra premium. - I booked the car from 7.30am through to 19th May but when I turned up that morning they said that the car had already gone out and if I wanted a car I would have to pay an additional premium for a bigger car. There was nothing stated in the terms about picking the car up within a certain time-frame. Overall the staff seemed hell-bent on getting extra money from every customer - there were three other customers in whilst I was there and they all experienced the same terrible service. I seriously question the ethics and integrity of this company. AVOID...

This is unacceptable! We do not understand how they can even run a business!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I have been used rental car companies for more than 20 years, with many different companies in all the world (Europe, USA, Asia, etc etc) : this is the first time I have to complain. Just trust me, DO NOT USE THEM. I have been directed to them trough Rentalcar.com, and didn't check the customer review before...unfortunately. The car was full of damages, but nothing was marked on the document: once I got it, before leaving the park, I started to mark them on the documents, but when I returned the car they accused me to have created some small scratches in the only part of the car I didn't mark anything on the documents....amazing!!! this is a fraud, and Rentalcar.com shouldn't allow that. Rentalcar.com should ban this company.

There should be a Easirent representative waiting at arrivals to pick us up, but was not. We had to speak to Easirent office about 10 times during 75minutes! It was hopeless and at the end we were ready to cancel the reservation and rent a car with a different company. At the office they gave us tiny renault captur instead of ford focus or similar (we had troubles to fit one large and one hand luggage in) with satnav we did not realy need (this should be compensation for the waiting). The rental was cheap, but was not worth it, next time we will pay more for better services.

Do not use this company. Booked a car the day before required, arrived at the office to collect car, mentioned I was travelling to an island in Scotland, told cars couldn't be taken there as not insured, no option but to not take car but no refund as within 24 hours of booking. Customer service so poor it wasn't worth the time emailing them. You'd be hard pressed finding a company with a worse rating - not sure how they remain in business or how the staff (and owners) can live with themselves given some of the comments in other posts.

Same terrible and illegal sales practices experienced as per other comments below, regarding extremely aggressive and unrelenting sales staff trying to sell additional insurance. I had third party insurance and declined their insurance over 4 times, before telling the man to cancel my booking and went and hired through Enterprise. I'm a solicitor - some free, general advice, this kind of conduct is specifically prohibited under consumer protection legislation (The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations). Complain direct to Easirent and if they don't refund your money make a claim with the Ombudsman. You can read about your rights here, specifically about; misleading conduct, unfair sales practices and aggressive sales tactics all of which are prohibited - you are likely entitled to a refund and potentially damages if you incur other costs: https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-protection-from-unfair-trading-regulations-2008 This kind of behaviour shouldn't be tolerated by consumers, take the time to make a complaint and get your money back.
