Online booking of MOT very smooth and good availability as normal garage could not fit me in, joined the free membership to get a discount all good. However, upon arriving at the scheduled time the chap on the desk immediately tried to upsell me a "fuel clean" for special offer of £20 so the car would pass the emissions aspect. (This was declined as its bs). Checked the gov website to see that car had failed the mot. Tyre and other issues around headlamps not pointing the right way - not unexpected but... Was unable to tell me what it would cost to put the problems right without me booking in for a £50 diagnostics in a week. Could conform tyre would cost £145 to replace (It does not cost this much ever). Car now has failed mot, unusable and not fixed and in their mind I should be OK to pay £50 for them to look at the car again, at least £145 for a tyre to be replaced and then they can run another £44 MOT in the hope that they've fixed it. I feared mot for them was a ruse to try and get more expensive jobs out of before booking but I had left it too late to use a local trusted garage so hoped it would be a pass or something minor like a tyre replacement. Didn't offer to fix anything just wanted more cash for doing what I would expect to be done as part of the mot. Worried it was a scam and unfortunately was proven correct.

Recently ordered a bicycle for my daughter in a Halfords store. The next day my sister gave us an old bike so we phoned the store and got the order cancelled. A month later I discover I never got the refund so I phoned Customer services to complain and was informed they cannot pay me back as it was on a credit card and they are 'not allowed to ask for my details over the phone', the only way to get the money back is to go into the store. I informed them that this is very difficult for me as I am disabled. Thus followed a long time-consuming saga as they tried to work out what to do. They finally told me (after being forwarded to the wrong place a few times) that they had sorted the problem. A week later, still no refund. Unbelievable. The staff are lovely and polite but their system is dysfunctional and I think they are breaking the law.

Very Poor Customer Service if you have a problem....I did. They did not update the service history of my Audi on Audi's database as they promised they would. Many phone calls and emails later, they say there is nothing they can do now as a "10 day" window to upload the details has passed.....Rubbish, just YOU get your error sorted!

Well I booked a slot Saturday 2-4 to have two front tyres fitted when the fitter arrived (late) he said I haven’t got a socket to get your wheel off ( a standard Peugeot ) so I said I have one but he refused to use it his laid back lazy attitude made me ask for a refund,he couldn’t do it so got a manager to call who wouldn’t give a refund so arranged another day to fit three days later they arrived fitted the tyres all was well until we drove the car the next day & lost a brand new wheel trim which must not of been fitted correctly I contacted Halfords they said email them with details & a month on they have done nothing at all not an apology or anything so would I use them again NO

Halfords Auto Centre, Solent Rd, Havant. Tuesday 11th Oct vehicle failed MOT due to cracked coil spring. Arranged for vehicle to to have work done and re-MOT on Fri 14th Oct at 13:00. Received call near closing time to advise Job not done and that it would be done Sat 15th AM. Due to inconvenience negotiated a discount. Early Sat morning rec call to advise no-one experienced available so job would now be scheduled for following Monday. Again an additional discount negotiated. I changed all my plans, incurred taxi costs for all my travel needs. Circa 12:00 on the Saturday follow up call received to advise car was ready. To late now for me to collect, away from home. Went to pick it up on the Monday, and after a heated exchange with the temporary manager (who was useless and incompetent) I secured my discounts. It was quite clear to me on my visits to this service centre that it needs a shake up. Whilst collecting my vehicle on the Monday it was clear that staff were lacking clear direction from management. As a new customer to Halfords it is unlikely that I would now ever recommend this facility to friends and family. and unless things change i will not be renewing my membership next year

Absolutely shocking my experience, esterday my mot done .halfords autocentre rotherham. Mot pass but advisories is oil leak ,but not excessive (gearbox).this report recive and I go to different garage check my leak .but no leak .then I come back to halfords autocentre, is saying before have oil leak now clear .

Absolutely shocking experience with mobile tyre fitting.... I ordered and paid for 4 tyres 2 weeks ago.... 1st appointment cancelled by halfords Allegedly a problem with tyre ordering..... Rebooked for yesterday.... Sent a text yesterday morning saying the tyres hadn’t arrived and asking me to call to rebook..... Call made was assured that tyres would be picked up and fitted next day (today) between 1pm and 8pm.... Phoned them at 12.30 today and was assured that they had the tyres and would definitely be done today.... Guess what.... Waited in all afternoon, now 8.30pm and still no tyres or fitter arrived.... Completely let down by the most unreliable service I have ever experienced.... Shame on you Halfords.... You have had my payment for 2 weeks and still cannot provide the service you promised even on the 3rd appointment.... Just utterly shocking

arrived at auto centre 8.05am as requested for my car mot and full service scheduled for 8.15 am.centre was not opened until 8.45 am.on entry was then told no mot ramp available (apparently had not been available for last 4 weeks!) so works could not continue.i had booked with halfords on the 8th sept.it is now the 6th october.no one from halfords had contacted me to say there was a problem.i am contactable via e-mail,mobile or landline.strangely i have just received an e-mail this afternoon to say this mornings appointment had been cancelled! when i queried their customer service i was told i would have to re-arrange another appointment?

Poor customer service, left car at 8am and still waiting at 1pm , booked in for 8am, but waiting over 5 hours told only just ordered part at 11.30am incase I don't turn up. Didn't really seem bothered that I was waiting over 5 hours on a Saturday for replacement coil. Not even moved car by 12.30pm. Not going again.

Went to arbitration after battling Halfords over out line clutch fitted by them which lasted 40000 miles had a new clutch fitted by another garage who took photos of the clutch removed who also said he could be contacted by anyone and he would tell them the problem but arbitrator would not accept this he relied solely on the word of a Halfords manager who had never even seen the car who said they done a good job obviously wasted my time with arbitration would I use Halfords again not a hells chance cowboy outfit

My wife had a car service and MOT booked at the Bury St Edmunds Autocentre. Pre-paid online and booked weeks in advance. The booking said arrive by 9:30. She arrived at 8:55. Told by the man in the office that she was late and to go away. My wife produced the booking paperwork, which clearly said by 9:30 and he said he didn't give a s*** what the paperwork said and told her to leave. He made a point of shouting so the mechanics could hear. Their laughter suggested that the whole thing was expected. How have Halfords allowed a sexist bully to run their autocentre? Halfords are investigating but made no offer of a new service or MOT booking. Halfords you are a disgrace :(

I took my car for its MOT and service, to be told there was a multitude of issues with my car that needed to be resolved before passing the MOT . I was then told that I was not allowed to take my own car home until the work had been completed. One issue that came up was my dpf filter which was apparently fixed by the mechanics back in September 2021. The total work cost more than 2 thousand pounds for all repairs to be carried out, I was then forced into a payment plan that will affect me financially. Not even 24 hours after having my car back in my possession, the check engine light came on and despite multiple calls to the auto centre no one has bothered to get back in touch with me. It’s safe to say I shall not be using the services of Halfords auto centres again and will not be referring anyone to Halfords in the future. I feel totally taken advantage of because when I called other mechanics and garages I was quoted a much lower price. 2 thousand pounds to repair my car and not even 24 hours after the check engine light reappears? Hardly worth it if you ask me. I find it unacceptable that this has happened. Totally took advantage because I was a young female on my own.

Booked a dashcam install, they came to my house, could not install it and broke the plastic side of my car which holds the electrics.

Halfords had my car for 10 days without starting the job - replacement of a burst coolant flange. Every enquiry was answered that they were about to start but after 10 days I had the car towed to another garage, costing £89 for the tow. Long term customer, but won’t use them again. I took my vehicle to Durham , Arnison Auto centre today to have an aircon diagnostic check carried out today and I have to say I have never been as disappointed in the service I received today and to give them 1 star is more than they deserve. The Manager Andy has very poor customer service skills and was not prepared to take on board anything I had to say. The first issue I have is they did not diagnose the fault and could only advise I go to another garage for further diagnostics. The second issue which is more concerning is that my system was full of gas as only just re-gassed at a cost 0f £120 and when my vehicle has been returned to me they have removed leaving no gas in the system at all. Not sure if this is the standard practice from Halfords auto centres but I would definately advise everyone to stay clear of the Durham centre.

MOT and service at their Watford centre - a depressing experience Incorrect arrival time given, rude staff, took three times as long as promised, weblink not working, wrong contact used, sloppy paperwork. I sent this proposed review to Halfords one week ago so that they could respond in advance. There was no reply, so clearly they don't care. Read on for the detail. Detail: Email and text messages requested me to arrive at their Watford centre at 08:20, saying "expect to leave it with us for 1-2 hours” and “when your vehicle is ready for collection, we’ll give you a call”. Me to the assistant at 8:20: “Good morning”. Grumpy assistant “We don’t open until 8:30”. Me “Well, your message told me to arrive at 8:20”. Assistant: “We don’t open until 8:30 buddy” and walks off. They didn’t call me but emailed me at 14:59. Fortunately I happened to be near my PC and regularly check my emails otherwise I would never have known my vehicle was ready. In the meantime the weblink they'd sent me to track the progress of my vehicle didn't work. When I collected the vehicle I was given the wrong MOT certificate and the wrong mileage was written into the wrong page in my service logbook.

Appalling!. Went in over five weeks ago to get ignition replaced was told I’d wait 10 days for Vauxhall to send them the ignition then it would be done and here I am five weeks later with no updates and no interest in doing the job!!!. Ive repeatedly called and you are put on hold or told you’ll be called back….. no one does!!!. Avoid avoid avoid Guildford at all costs!

Andover Auto centre branch booked the car in 2 weeks in advance on arriving at 08.30 handed the key to the manager she did not say a word to me when I said I will wait for the car. The cabin filters were done in 5 minutes I watched him do it, the car then went in the air after 2 hours I asked why nothing was happening they did not have the correct part in the building and it would be delivered soon. That was a lie 6 hours in a boiling hot waiting room the mechanic came out and asked me what I wanted to do. He put the old part back on in around 10 minutes and the manager came in and we agreed she would call me when the part came in next day. That did not happen I phoned and was told to be there in 30 minutes. It took the mechanic 20 minutes to remove the old part and fit the new part. I had been told an hour's labour so ripped off big time Next the nightmare that is Halfords customer service they lie to I have proof I saved the web chats it takes 48 hours or more for first contact days later no phone call after chasing them today 19th July 2022 I had a email they won't call you email or web chat as it means they don't have to talk to let down customers. Even though I asked to be called they still ignored my request. To add insult they offered me a free MOT and £10 gift card it's laughable they told me they don't cover loss of earnings so my time is worth noting yet their hourly rate is more than the time taken to work on the car. AVOID alt all costs Halfords are liars and overcharge customers
