Got email telling me that my holiday on 6 april has been cancelled as per policy 11.3.2 a refund should be paid in the relation to the booking being cancelled by them not me all i got was a email saying they are asking the owners for the money paid then when they get money back all they offered me is that they will hold my money for 24 months towards another break i think this company are a bunch of cowboys i will be taking them to small claims court i hope everybody does the same but i think they won't be in business very long

We booked this holiday from australia. We have booked for a two week stay at a cost of $2600 (about £1300) and paid the full amount straight away. The airline gave us a credit to use for up to 12months. Also booked with airbnb who will offer full refund. Sykes cottages tell me no refund and to rebook straight away. How is this possible when both countries are in lockdown? I am not asking for a refund, only for them to be reasonable and offer a credit note for 12months. We are pensioners. My husband has recently been through chemo. Would they like to put his any everyone else's life at risk because of their disgusting greed? Shame on you!!

It is clear Sykes are well behind the curve on the coronavirus crisis. We are unable to visit the holiday cottage we have booked for this Friday, not our decision, the Governments and subsequently the owner Sykes response? Claim off your travel insurance or change the dates. Neither is suitable unfortunately. Clearly this policy is criminally dispassionate and their CEO or whoever has the top job should take the rap. A real disgrace and I trust that the British public will remember which companies chose to behave well during this crisis and which, like Sykes, didn't.

Can’t believe that sky cottages are charging me more money to change the date of my holiday due to the corona virus, they are disgusting. Leeching off people while something like this is going on good luck getting your money back! They even took the money out of my account quickly just as the virus took hold to ensure they get every penny out of holiday makers! Robbing scumbags

Disgusted by this company. Refusing refunds during Covid 19 when people have had to cancel their holidays and you will not refund. To rebook is not an option for many. HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME. DO NOT USE, EVER.

Awful service - still waiting to be sent their ethical policy, health and safety contract and opinion on the phone call they said they’d listen to (where I was told we’d be given a refund if we went into lockdown) - I was told 24 hours.

No refunds...no response....profiteering during one of our hardest times. Shameful company. Loyal customer but will never use again.

This company is a disgrace! We booked a cottage for April but can no longer travel for obvious reasons. As we could not claim a refund, we grudging transferred our booking to September. The price is cheaper then, but we’ve been told that we will not be refunded the difference. Absolutely disgusting at this time when people need every penny they can get. We will never use this company again.

This company is disgraceful and take people’s money. At a time like this when the whole world is in distress losing jobs becoming ill with the Coronavirus , dying this company feels it is acceptable to take peoples money. My holiday was cancelled by Sykes cottages due to the government guidelines but yet told me a refund is t possible when I didn’t cancel my break they did. Not stated in their policy but even if this company cancels your booking u still won’t get your money back. Disgusting zero customer care, zero professionalism. Worst company first time booking and most certainly the last. If you don’t want to lose your money stay well clear and the owners whom I was in constant contact with don’t even receive the money for 2 months after and only received half of what you pay to go on these breaks. Scam, rip off, unprofessional

Sykes will only let me amend my booking and this is not practical for me, they don’t offer refunds. It’s disgraceful when I am unable to go due to government guidelines, it’s the first time with this company and the last.

COVID-19 policy - easy - they’ve spent the money and can’t afford to give it back - they don’t have it - not paying the owners and not giving it back to customers - sadly the employees are being told to relay the party / CEOs line: no refunds! Down and out.

We have a holiday booked for the first week of May. Even thought the government have said NO unnecessary travel, Skies have taken the FULL payment of our holiday. We have not cancelled it and I have tried to change dates (as told to) but THEIR website won’t let me and they are accepting NO inbound calls even though I have been left a message to call them. Pure proffering and going completely against government advice which is ILLEGAL. in BBC news they were mentioned and praised by an MP as cancelling all holidays - yet they HAVEN’T done that. So now lying to parliament - clearly not shy of lying to a government official money by menace as giving you no choice.

For refunds on holiday bookings , no response from Sykes ,try the courts to claim a refund plus costs, Sykes for the very poor service and non refund of fees and the property owners for the holiday cost, if enough of Sykes customers put in claims to the courts it might make them offer a better customer service .

Profiteering from Covid19 situation. Refusing to refund and putting price's up for rebooking. I feel sorry for the cottage owners as well. Shameful and immoral. Never using them again.

Same complaint as others about trying to cancel a booking for mid May. We were scheduled to travel from the US to have a reunion with my husband’s family in England. Because of the coronavirus we are advised against traveling overseas. The airlines were accommodating by offering a credit for future rebooking and refund if unable to rebook within a year. I have emailed Sykes/Country and Coastal Cottages/Welsh Country Cottages (they seem to operate under multiple names) 3 times and they pretend not to have received my emails or offer conflicting information. Caitlin told me I would lose the deposit but since I was canceling more than 6 weeks in advance not have to pay the balance. Then I received an email saying the balance would be charged to my credit card soon. Then they tell me to amend my booking online but of course there is no option to cancel in the online account. Isn’t there a consumer affairs bureau in the U.K. to file complaints with? Never again for this corrupt company.
