As a new Turo customer, the car (BMW i8) I rented from “Perfect 10 R.” was a huge disappointment. The car was filthy inside and out, with a horrible mix of cologne and cigarette smell that made the ride unbearable. The vehicle had numerous scratches, clearly showing a lack of maintenance. To top it off, the host showed no empathy when I raised these issues. I expected better, but this experience was far from it. This was a surprise for my wife’s 50th birthday. Would not recommend this host.

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars I would. **I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT USING TURO FOR YOUR CAR RENTAL NEEDS** this is very long and I apologize but I want to help someone out in the future. I recently took a trip to 🏖🏖Cocoa Beach, FLORIDA 🏖🏖 from July 31st till August 6th. The morning of August 1st around 10 a.m. our rental car started to over heat. We ended up pulling over to call Turo and to also let the owner of the vehicle know. As expected, they wanted us to wait an hour on the side of the road to have a tow truck come out to pick up to take back to the shop for mechanical inspection. We ended up waiting longer than an hour. My husband was going back and fourth with customer service to get a replacement rental as we live out of state and now had no way of transportation. This trip was for our honeymoon. We recently just married and decided that Turo was our best option to go with in Florida for our car rental needs. Boy was we wrong! After we contacted Turo the customer representative had transferred us over to the wrong department which was accidental aid or something like that. However, we was not in an accident we just simply had an over heating car and needed a replacement. I do not mean no disrespect but we could not understand the representative and did not catch his name. He was speaking English but it was not the best. He did try though. He asked us several questions about the vehicle and how we were in an accident. After both ends of frustration, we were told someone would be in touch within 15 minutes to further assist. An hour goes by and my husband calls Turo back. We were informed that our ticket for the tow pick up was canceled and the tow truck wasn’t coming. At this point we were both very heated and very much over the entire situation. We couldn’t drive anywhere as the car stayed on “H” and we didn’t want to cause further damage. (just for reference we had the car shut off the entire time to cool down to which that did nothing) At this time, we were told that we could wait on the tow truck again and they can take us back to our Airbnb. My husband quickly asked about a replacement as we still had 5 days left of our honeymoon and no way of transportation. We were then told we could catch an Uber to their nearest car rental which was 100 miles away and that there was no guarantee if they had a car at the location at that time. We had already been waiting on the tow truck for more than an hour and we did not want to travel 2 hours for a possible rental. My husband asked if there was a way they could bring a car to us as we had already wasted time on our trip dealing with this issue. Of course Turo said No but we could go through a 3rd party rental and be reimbursed for the time of us not using the car and also they would reimburse us for the 3rd party rental. All we had to do was send our receipts to the email that was given to us. We were closest to an Enterprise which was .5 mile down the road so we decided to go that route. It ended up costing us an additional 630.00 for the rental. $300.00 was a deposit and $330.00 was the actual price to rent. We had already initially paid 448.00$ for the car rental through Turo. So at this point we were out of pocket by $700.00+ for both car rentals (I’m not counting the deposit as we were to get that back once we turned in the enterprise car) Fast forward, we sent all receipts to Turo. We give them a call to let them know and all we were told was that “the higher ups will send us an email saying they received our receipts and will keep us posted on our reimbursement but you must wait 48 hours” We waited 48 hours, gave them a call. We were informed the email we sent our receipts to no longer worked. We must send a new picture to a new email and must wait 48 hours again. At this point we are very frustrated however we wait our allotted time. We call, and low and behold history repeats itself. So my husband demanded to speak to “the higher ups” but was told they never talk on the phone and on top of it never put in a request for us to get our reimbursement so it looked like we had the car longer than the 1.5 days. We were to only receive a reimbursement of 130.00$ due to the remaining time we supposedly had the car but we must wait 10 days. Here it is 19 days past the incident and we have not received anything back from Turo. We have continued to call 3-4 times a day and still receive the same answer over and over again. At this point we are counting our loss and feel like our time with Turo was a complete disaster. I apologize once again for this post being so long but wanted to share our story to help others in the future.

Drive it like you stole it! This should be the company slogan. The insurance is terrible, the gap doesn't exist, they'll allow people to do thousands of damage to your vehicles, they allow people to Total your vehicles and leave you hanging with the gap, and users do not care about your vehicles at all

Disaster. First car broke down on day 2. The replacement was a 10 year old beat up Prius. When I returned the car, there was some splashed asphalt on the side which I promptly paid $1500 to repair. I chose not to use my insurance. I thought all was settled but 6 weeks later, they came back saying they “found more damage” and now wanted $6800! The accounting of damages was absurd with claims of damages through the car. Of course, nothing documented in photos or identified upon review of the car at drop off. Total scam. Customer service was terrible through all my hassles, too. Hours on the phone. Stuck on the side of the road for hours in the heat with no water. There’s more but I need to let go and move on. Never again. I’d happily pay 10x the amount to avoid this insanity.

Rented a car for 3 days 37/ day but came out to be 275.00. I pay attention to detail very well I got a car when I started it said 300 miles to empty when I returned the car I put the gas back in it at 313 miles and still got a invoice for 7.95 and 10.00 extra dollars for gas not being filled up when I didn’t receive it filled up. Over 7.95 cents really. 1 week later got another charge for 7 dollar toll road when I never took a toll road in this car. And not a like any extra charges before we close out. Owner of the car said we let u know I have removed my card Turo is a no go just more fees after fees.

Turo is a nightmare. My car was severely damaged, and after weeks of waiting, they offered a ridiculous amount for repairs. There customer service is also a joke. My car was towed to the shop for two weeks, and they only offered a fraction of the repair cost. Don't risk your car with them.

Terrible. Paid 4 full days for the car, returned 3 days and a half back, was charged for almost another full days rent as penalty for late return by 1 hour on stipulated time. Sent them emails regarding this and zero reply. Would never use this useless company again, just stick with traditional rentals! Warning to all, don't bother with this company! Just use avis and others!

Car caught a flat tire and roadside assistance was TERRIBLE. We were stuck on the side of the highway at night and the earliest they could get a tow was 8:30am; more than 10 hours later!!! Fortunately, another tow company came and helped us out, but Turo is refusing to reimburse even though we had the "Premier" Insurance plan. Customer service gave us the runaround until we left Hawaii!! Absolutely immoral behavior from Turo, and do not recommend using their services, as they would just leave you stranded.

My host canceled the night of my trip, I had to scramble to find another car and couldn’t, they tried to give me different cars for higher price that I didn’t even want, I decided to take a refund that won’t be until 8 days, they really screwed this up for me, I rented a nice porche for a trip I worked hard for now one of the best parts of it is gone and I have to Uber my whole trip, they didn’t offer me a discount for inconveniencing me but tried to squeeze more money out of me and ultimately left me stranded, man I’m so mad I leave in the morning, I don’t even want to go now

Seems as though no matter what you do it’s never 100% right and they charge you additional fees, even if they have to bold face lie. Do not use this service. RUN

Being a host with this company is almost impossible. One of my cars has been wrecked three times the first time it took you guys 5 months for me to get it back on the road. You guys kept telling me I have to call the claims department which I did and the voicemail of the lady that you told me to call said that she was out indefinitely and every time I called the support desk they told me well that's the number you have to call that's all we have. I asked to talk to somebody in charge and they said there's nobody to talk to you have to call that number. Let's go ahead and fast forward it to about 2 months ago a gentleman wrecked the car again for over $10,000 worth of damage the car was not fixed right I waited 4 weeks of non-stop calling still nobody will call me back my car is not fixed right and all I get is rudeness. Being a host for this company has been nothing but a headache. I just want somebody in charge to call me because I am told over and over again there's nobody in charge there till today she said I talked to my supervisor but he's too busy to talk to you he's in a meeting he's on a call. That's how you deal with people that list their cars for you. I hope somebody reaches out not going to hold my breath I can't wait for a new turo to come out another company that takes care of the host. I'm out now over 6k and You're sorrys you keep telling me or just shallow

I challenge you to find a worse car rental company than this. First of all, the car renters are allowed to include all kinds of excessive fees. For example, let's say that you need a car for two days, and you find one that's $40 a day. That's $80 plus taxes, around $100, right? As soon as you go to checkout screen, you'll see all kinds of fees added. "Convenience fee." "Cleaning fee." "Travel fee." You'll be surprised to see that the final price is twice what you were expecting. Next, even though I've been renting from Turo for years, I had a terrible experience recently. I had to drive from Indianapolis to Washington, D.C. Originally, I had a rental through Enterprise in Indianapolis, but that didn't work out. Frustrated, I started traveling east and booked a last minute Turo in Dayton, OH. The rental was $200 and my card was charged. I kept messaging the host and asking if we were good to go, and that I would be there in two hours. He never responded. I got to the car at the airport and kept messaging him, until he finally responded saying that he's at work and he can't rent me the car. Once again, I started driving east, and I called Turo asking to refund me the $200. The CSR that I spoke to said that he would refund me the money and chastise the host, then he offered to make it up to me with a free rental out of Columbus, OH. I said that that would be great. He found me another car on the east side of Columbus and kept saying that Turo would pick up the tab. I appreciated it and thanked him profusely. I picked up the car in Columbus without issue, although if I knew that I was going to pay for this particular car, I would have refused. It only took premium gasoline and there was a 500 mile limit. I had to pay extra money for gas and the extra mileage. Still, I assumed that Turo was picking up the tab for the rental and the mileage. One hour later, I was surprised to see that another $200 was charged to my card! I called Turo and asked why they did that, and the CSR told me that I'll be refunded everything once I turn the car back in. I did, and days went by. I received the first refund of 200, but not the second. I called Turo again and this new CSR had no idea what I was talking about. I asked him to go back and listen to the audio recording of the original conversation. He put me on hold for ten minutes, then came back and said "Sir, I listened to the conversation, and yes, he did tell you that Turo would pay for this rental. I'll forward this situation to the higher ups at Turo." Then he said that they would be in touch, and I thanked him. Two more weeks went by with no refund. I finally got an e-mail response from someone at Turo saying that they've reviewed my situation and that they've decided to NOT give me a refund. I kept saying that that's not what I was told and to go back and listen to the audio recording. They refused and kept saying that I was responsible for paying for the second rental. Then I said "Fine, if you won't give me a refund, then give me a credit. I think that that's more than fair." Once again, they refused, and even got crappy with me, saying that their decision is FINAL. (they wrote it in all caps and in bold) I told them that they've lost a customer and they never responded. Screw this awful company.

You get what you pay for is the lesson we learned. Definitely sticking with a legit rental agency from now on. Thought we'd be ok with an 8 yr old VW Passat, and finding the car/keys was easy enough. But the tire light was on the whole time, the AC worked but took a bit to kick on and in Florida, August humidity, you want fast, high intensity AC. Didn't get that. The rear view camera didn't work. Felt like I was driving in the 90s. The vehicle made a very loud fan rattle noise and scary vibrations to go with it. Just not the experience you want on vacation or a work trip. Hard pass for any future traveling.

Horrible experience - they charge much more than what they advertise (after you click to actually pay for it, they add about 30% more onto the price they offer you)and they don't help you if you get into a bad situation.

I bought a new car in 2019 just to list it on Turo, and someone rented it and crashed it. I only found out after 7 days because Turo didn't notify me at the time. I only found out when the person was supposed to return the car. My car spent 100 days in the shop, and Turo didn't cover all the repair costs. They authorized me to rent a car, and I spent $2,800 on car rentals, but Turo only wanted to reimburse me $300 for that. Well, this happened in May 2020, and now it's August 13, 2024. I called Turo today, and they still refuse to pay the remaining repair costs and the $2,800 I spent on car rentals. TURO IS A BIG SCAM. BEWARE, it's not worth listing your car for rent on TURO!
