Bought an expensive laptop and paid extra for the set-up service. Walked around for a couple of hours then came back and waited in computer area as it wasn't ready yet. Security guard approached me as if I was an unsavoury loiterer and wanted to know what I was doing. I'm a well kempt old lady who exudes class and sophistication, so this was uncalled for. Just then, they came back with my laptop. Computer guy was excellent and I thanked the manager, who was a 6ft dude that is now a woman. Deep voice, gigantic man-feet and man-hands that could snap my neck like a twig. In a floral dress. The world sure ain't what it once was. Then I went home and had a lovely cup of Earl Grey to revive me.

Having bought from John Lewis over many years and only really shopped there due to the reputation about customer services I'm not sure I will be shopping there again. We bought a fridge before lockdown but it had a faulty door that wouldn't stay shut, was wonky and so the temp wouldn't stay cold. We wished to return the fridge and get a replacement or refund...both within our rights to return/reject a product within 14 days under consumer rights law. However we were told consistently by JL we had to deal direct with the manufacturer as it wasn't JL's responsibility as they didn't hold the stock. Despite arguing we had a contract with them JL as they had received our money we still had to go to the manufacturer and arrange for an engineer to visit. To be honest we should have bought direct from manufacturer as John Lewis appear simply to be a middle seller with no responsibility. I won't be buying from them again as they have proved themselves to be no different from any other high street retailer...just a bit more expensive!

It took the CEO attention to sort this mess out, and bring customer services to heel, now satisfied with the outcome in my favor.

Refund when purchased using PayPal is poor so I intend to avoid that payment option. Whilst John Lewis appear to have refunded correctly, PayPal take their time and after waiting well over 30 days, I had to raise a dispute. The refund was incorrect (shortchanged by £33) and when I followed this up, the messages are ignored.

I purchased a 2,700 corner unit and the staff in the Bristol Store could not have been more helpful. However that’s where the good stuff ends. The sofa was delivered as arranged all the packaging removed before those delivering it told me they didn’t have time to put it together. I phoned the call centre number on the order and it took 9 mins to answer the call. When I explained I was given a 2 hour window for someone to contact me 2.5 hours later I rang again another 9 min wait and they said it hadn’t been dealt with and could they have 3 more hours!!! Eventually I spoke to someone and they said the could arrange for someone to come and assemble but not till next Tuesday 6 days after delivery. They did offer for me to get someone to install it and send them the invoice. When I was considering this I checked but only had four of the 8 legs. So had to phone again. Further waiting!! The legs are meant to be delivered by TNT today nothing so far!! The actual process of talking to the call centre is diabolical. I innocently phoned and asked if I could have the name and email of the Bristol Store Manager. They are not allowed to give this out so currently waiting for Customer Service Bristol to phone back within 2 hours AGAIN!!!. I am never going to buy anything large from John Lewis again. I have had a large dining table delivered by Park Furnishers and 2 Sofas by DFS. All of which were assembled on site. Come on John Lewis buck your ideas up I have spent hours on this. No stars from me

I saw an item in the Liverpool store but it was heavy and my car was miles away so I decided to order online. When I came to do do I couldn’t find it on line so I rang customer serviced who couldn’t find it and were unable to find it and unable to contact the shop to find out what tbd item was. The sales assistant in the store would have been able to tell them immediately I live two hours away from a store do unable to go in very disappointing service!!

Ordered a range cooker and wanted installation & disposal service, so had to order by phone. The advisor completed the order incorrectly without adding the installation & disposal service despite making it clear to her, she said we would be contacted after we had paid regarding this. Of course we were not, and on phoning again to query it we were told the order had been processed incorrectly and the original order then had to be cancelled and another one placed correctly. This was done competently the second time, and the item was delivered and installed within 10 days, but why oh why can’t John Lewis get it right first time? This often happens when you have to call their customer order or support lines - their telephone staff just don’t seem to be trained properly.

I ordered a nice bouquet of flowers for my mum. The delivery day and went and unfortunately for some unknown reason the delivery company didn’t deliver them. I called John Lewis and was delighted with the customer service who refunded my money and sent my mum a gift card😁😁😁 I was so happy with they’re service I ordered a new computer I assumed I would have to wait a few days for it, I received it the very next day. Very happy customer ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

They don't have the half size, which is very inconvenient.

It's hit and miss with John Lewis. They have a good range of products at affordable prices, and have good sales/clearance. However, once you have informed them of not 'knowingly undersold' items they reduce it for you but don't change the price on their site for everyone else to benefit. So, their tag line is a lie. Furthermore, they should stop using Myhermes. This 're-delivery' service isn't up to the standard of John Lewis, thus stains their brand. JL customer service team contradict each other and keep you on hold for an unacceptable length of time. But they aren't as bad as other companies.

My bag from the order was perfect but the shoes arrived filthy underneath with something underneath and RIPPED! They were Adidas and expensive - and from somewhere like John Lewis this is the last I'd expect to see! Delivery was very quick (about 2 days after dispatch) which was handy but sending back was a bit annoying because they were supposed to be for my birthday. Got my refund soon enough which was good. I don't think I'll risk ordering again however

Washing machine broke within a year... got a replacement as there's warrantee on it. BUT order got lost and took over 12 weeks to sort out properly.... Your customer service team tried there best so I will give credit for that but come on... 12 weeks to get a broken washing machine replaced? It's just too long and you guys are a big company so I am sure you can better that.

I used to think that John Lewis were the "bees knees", I work in the service industry myself and have often quoted JL as an example of the best in customer service. To say I have revised my opinion in the last few years is an understatement, I almost use JL exclusively and my experience in every area, in store, delivery, products as well as warranty cover has plummeted in the last few years, in fact I am not struggling to find an example of good service. I think the time has come to make some changes in my buying habits
