Appalling service. You are not a 24hr service so please do not advertise that you are. Unless of course you mean you come out within 24hrs. You were quite happy to leave my 17 year old son at 2:30am until 10:30 am.

I wish there was 0 star that we could give! Absolutely avoid it at all cost. Called them at 8am and nothing till 1pm then i cancelled my service and asked refund. I have been told its all done, there would be no need to call them again. I just saw today that still no refund! Called them straight away and they say that there is nothing they could see about my payment. What a joke!

My car broke down on a busy intersection during rush hour, as I was taking my baby to nursery. This was the first time this had happened to me and I felt very vulnerable. I called RAC and they established that I was "too close to my home address" for them to be able to do anything. I asked what I could do, and was put on hold whilst they tried to transfer me to the sales department to "discuss upgrading my account". This is all whilst my baby was screaming and angry drivers were honking their horns at me (yes, I had my hazards on). I hung up, asked for help from passers-by, and somehow got my car to the local garage, where I was met with actual empathy and a willingness to help me. Honestly, RAC didn't care in the slightest and did nothing at all to help. Going to change to a different provider.

Disgusting company. Never had a call out so I decided to add on breakdown cover with my insurance company due to the ridiculous price RAC were quoting me for the year. Phoned to cancel my policy with RAC. Was assured by the operator they had done so. Next year rolls around and they take £195 out of my account with no warning. On top of this, getting my money back wasn't easy. Ended up calling 5 times as the operator gave me the run around and only seemed to take me seriously after I lost my temper. I have no idea how this cock-up could even occur in the first place but members of my family have apparently had the same thing happen to them in the past so I would strongly advise others to steer clear. This company appears to be a complete scam!!

Just pray you never need the services of this outfit. After three years membership and buying top end cover for three vehicles I recently had occasion to call them for the first time. I gave them my name address and Membership Number. The operator informed that I was not a Member. On reflection I should simply have arranged my own rescue and sued them for the cost. However I let them make further checks..Apparently they have several "systems" and these "systems" "don,t always talk to each other" ?? Again the operator maintained that I was not a Member. After again disputing this I was put on Lengthy hold while said operator consulted a supervisor. I was now informed that I WAS a Member ( No explanation given for previous errors) Now seriously worried about this outfit WORSE was to come. After giving all details for the umpteenth time I was casually informed that the estimated wait time for assistance was FOUR to FIVE HOURS. After about THREE HOURS I decided to make my own arrangements to get home. After getting home I had a call from a recovery vehicle saying "just ten minutes away" I explained the situation. The RAC had badly let me down.He didn't seem surprised. Don't waste your hard earned cash on this outfit . PROFIT before SERVICE should be their motto. If you don't believe me just look at the RAC Employees reviews to get an insight into practices and culture within this outfit. This outfit is saddled with vast debt incurred through a private equity buyout. They are far more interested in servicing their debt than serving their customers. I am in the process of complaining to them . Apparently they prefer to call COMPLAINTS by another name that is FEEDBACK..Really !!!

It is a shame I cannot give 0 stars as, we reported vehicle breakdown at 2pm yesterday(now been waiting over 24 hours!) and have made several phone calls and still no engineer!!!! The RAC have also lied on several occasions in the past 24 hours saying that they called us and couldn't get in contact with us.....no missed calls. We have four foster children who have missed going to a Birthday party today....plus had no vehicle to take them out on our normal Sunday outings. They are certainly not a service provider. They have also said that there are no managers available to speak to or return our call. We have had been members for the past 4 years on two vehicles and this is the first time we have ever called for assistance.

Absolute joke. Broke down due to engine reducing power. Crawled into a service along M1. Reported breakdown at 1830, and was told waiting time 2- 3 hrs. Waited 3 hrs and called again, was told waiting time 3 to 4 hrs. Waited and waited. Then someone called. Saying only option is to check me into a hotel and a patrol will be with me tomorrow morning. Agreed. Then waited another 50 minutes, still no call or message about the hotel. Don't think the patrol will be with me between 6am and 8am. Hopeless. Avoid as much as possible. Had been with AA before and called out 3 times. None of that was like this. Rubbish. I am still sitting in the service, waiting....

I took out personal cover for my company car and my 2 motorcycles. My car broke down on the drive and I contacted the RAC. I was asked whether my car was used for business which of course it was. They then revealed to my shock that I wasn’t covered. The car had to be personally owned and used only for social/domestic and commuting. I said that there was nothing about business use in the online form that I completed. Had there been I wouldn’t have taken out the policy. Surely business use is an “elephant in the living room” issue that should be on the form you complete. Instead RAC are saying that I should have spotted it buried in the tome of terms and conditions. I’ve since spoken to other people who hadn’t realised that their RAC policies were void as they used their cars for business. This is sharp practice and I intend taken it to the Ombudsman. Oh and because I wasn’t covered I ended up having to take out a policy with the AA to get my car sorted so that was another £240.

I broke down on the m25 junction 14, my two 8 year old children and wife was in the car, i called Rac who told me 45 minutes. 1 hour later i got a phone call from the mechanic he was at junction 9 they had given him wrong details. 44 minutes later the RAC recovery vehicle drove past our car a black 4x4 rangerover in good light. he then phone to say he would turn around, he turned around and drove past us again, at this point he phoned again laughing at me down the phone, he then returned 25 minutes later. His advice was to drive the car in idle mode 30 per hour till i reach the slip road and go to ATS, he seemed an ok person but i asked for rescue home as i have that policy over three yours later i am in a tyre garage with a mechanical problem. Please do not use this service they will leave you wet and stranded in the wind.

Terrible service!! Lone female in the middle of a dark country lane. Was told they would be with me in 90 minutes and was told that I would receive an update. Two hours later and no update, I called again and was told that I would receive a call within 10 minutes. Twenty minutes later-nothing! I ended up recruiting a passer by to help me with my flat tyre 2.5 hours later. Avoid RAC as you won’t get any help!
