Left my daughter, a lone female, waiting for a recovery vehicle for SIX hours! Absolute shambles, avoid the RAC like the plague, they are over priced, and don't really give a damn.

Any excuse, here's an email I just sent to them, it explains pretty much everything; I cancelled my policy 200110006672011 on or about the 4th july 2024 because despite paying my dues regularly your people refused to help me retrieve my keys from inside my vehicle. The excuse was because my car was untaxed. Yes being a doddery old sod I forgot to pay the £35 per year road tax! It happens, my memory isn't what it was. I was actually on private property at the time and as such required no road tax anyway. When I joined I was told nothing about road tax being a condition of cover and quite frankly I fail to see how it is relevant! I did tax the car as soon as I became aware and subsequently received a fine too! I refuse to pay this £58.03p cancellation fee, I think you've had enough of my hard to come by money for zero service! I am currently suffering from various ailments and depression, I have nothing worth taking, I live on a pittance in a grotty bedsit. And now I have to put up with your threats of debt collectors!!! Now I'm starting to get angry at the sheer greed and total lack of understanding or compassion your company is demonstrating and I am on the verge of going very public with this outrage. I expect a reply within 7 days. Yours, Mr Martin Willmott. Date of experience: 04 July 2024

Engine overheating, had to turn engine off as concerned my catch fire. Contacted RAC at 14.50, told patrol would arrive between 16.00 and 18.00. Then had a call saying patrol would arrive at 16.50. At 17.15, checked on line and found a message timed at 16.57 indicating patrol would now arrive between 19.00 and 21.00. We managed to limp home but would never recommend RAC breakdown cover to anyone. We're busy warning our friends and work colleagues to avoid!!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had an appointment with the rac at 10 am and at 10:02 the messaged me telling me due to unforeseen circumstances your booking has been cancelled and moved to a date 2 weeks later. Below that message was a number to call if I wanted to discuss alternative dates. I pressed the number and no one would answer and it kept saying you have dialed an incorrect number. Makes no sense. I need my car fixed urgently I live alone work 5 days and week. Disgraceful and no apology explanation or compensation was given. Thanks a lot for nothing

Get the sales reps back in stores selling as it better talking face to face and getting what suits your needs, rather than going on line. You must of lost loads of customers since you made them redundant and for what reason???

My wife was left waiting for over 5yrs and ended having to get a taxi at 3am to then get a lift home from one of the friends in her vehicle and has to return to the car at 8am to await a RAC recovery vehicle as there are no patrols available it is approaching 4am and she still is not home. It is unacceptable that you will not get all 4 ladles home just the nearest to the breakdown. They were left in a secluded spot in slough off the main road how were you not able to get anything but a taxi to them which was after 5 hours and then she is expected to be back by the car to wait for a patrol or recovery from 8am onwards providing the community centre don't have the car towed from infront of there gates as my wife had to push the car out of the car park after the first hour. I cannot put into words how stresses angry and anxious i have come over what will be 6hrs of waiting for my wifes safe return home. I cannot use the words I want to you without being very VERY RUDE about the RAC and lack of service and care for a group of stranded women stuck in a community centre drive way siince 11pm nearly an hour after calling yourselves. VERY VERY VERY ANGRY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED WITH UNEXECEPTBLEY POOR SERVICE.

This is my review on another well know review site this evening …. We’ve been with RAC for years and can only recall having called them once. Needed them tonight for a snapped coil spring issue that shredded the tyre and left us stranded near Newark, 40 mins from home, only to be told “it could be 2am before we get to you” is frankly shocking, disappointing and downright disgusting! What’s the issue here RAC?! You’ve sold so many policies that you can’t fulfil your obligation to customers? Too many customers, not enough vans on the road? I just wish we’d looked at reviews before renewing. Given that we haven’t used the service due to you RAC not being able to provide one, I may well be looking for a full refund of my policy premium.

Car trouble, called RAC 11 am and asked for rescue. At 15.00 they killed my order without telling me. Had to call back and reinstate. It's 18.20 now and the slot I am offered now is 9 to 11 pm. Waste of time, money and respect for their customers

Called around 12.30pm yesterday as my friend who is disabled arrived st my house with a puncture.I going with him to a hospital appointment. This was told to the lady we called to ask for assistance. We do not have internet access. She said she would prioritise as a medical emergency. We received no texts 're what time we could expect help to arrive.By 3.30 approx I ran back anld was told maybe between 4 and 6.Well the hospital appointment was missed. The call handler seemed totally uninterested. We were so lucky to find a local garage that could come out to change the tyre.Have advised my friend to cancel his membership.Really shabby service.Or lack of service. Have added my email as friend not on internet.

How does it take almost 3 weeks to get an awnser for a vehicle to be written off or start the process to get it fixed. Had 1 phone call from rac in 3 weeks and was told they are righting it off to then be told by the panel beater they are going to fix it as no one wants to buy it at the salvage value and need to recheck all broken parts. Called several times to find out what is going on to be told wait 2 more days and we will call you. Yet again let down and havnt been called still. I have been a customer for 5 plus years house, cars, bikes and have never claimed anything to be let down. Very poor service

Renewal was sent to my spam and automatically renewed by DD at £100.00 increase which is double the AA membership fee! Requested a full refund but was refused. After loyal membership of over 40 years the response by the RAC was a disgrace. So in summary do not join this organisation under any circumstances

I waited yeasterday for around 2 hours in the middle of a very busy road. The call centre person was very cold but at least gave me a solution and arranged to send somebody. Then, the female staff who finally arrived after around 2 hours was a bully, judgmental and very hostile, which surprised me a lot. My problem was solved but the customer service was very disappointing!

Wouldn't honour breakdown cover despite valid policy from insurance. All I needed after a terrible week scattering a family members ashes. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. They will let you down.

I joined the RAC thinking I would have peace of mind if my car ever happened to break down anywhere, boy was I wrong. After 8 years being a member with no breakdowns in this time I was quite lucky, but this week my car broke down with a coolant leak, so I called the RAC for assistance. I had broken down on a dangerous spot and they told me because I was to close to my home (0.12 miles) to be picked up and it would cost £180 for someone to get to me. Because my car was in a very busy and dangerous road and was told by the local authority's to move it to a safer location ( my sister had to tow me) I then contacted the RAC again to let then know that my car was in a safer place but it was further away. They told that it was my first location details that they log down and the new safer location wasn't to be considered even though it was away from any accident hot spot. So why am I paying a monthly bill just to be treated like this. And if I chose the option of them picking me up for the £180 it would still take someone from the RAC 6to 8 hours to get to me. Disgusting Service. Won't be bothering with the RAC ever again, joined the AA now much better benefits and cheaper too.

They autorenew your policy without asking you if you agree to it - it's hidden in the terms. Then refuse to cancel, even on day 1, without a £25 'admin charge '. Massive price hike from the previos year.
