Wow--I have been in retail for 20+ years and I cannot believe my experience with Ikea. For such a large company they have horrific systems and policies. I have never had to work so hard to give a company money. We are redoing a cottage on our property and decided on Ikea for the cabinets because we didn't want to spend a ton of $ (after spending too much on plumbing fixtures!) and we liked the look of Ikea's glossy fronts. I drove 90 min to get to a store and spent 5 hours there looking at kitchen examples and getting help designing my kitchen on the ikea website. The ladies that worked in the kitchen area were okay but not overly friendly. This didn't bother me but instead of ordering at the shop I decided to order online which they said "was easy." BIG MISTAKE! I came home and finished my design and then expected to be able to put my list of items (that were generated from my kitchen design) into the cart. NO! This was not possible so I called Ikea and had to wait for 60 minutes before I received a live person. This person was also somewhat rude, but she did help me thru the process and put my order in for me. Great--I was finished--right?? NO! My credit card company declined the charge because they thought it was fraudulent. So, I received an email and I assumed I'd be able to contact my credit card company and resubmit my info by clicking back on my order. NO! Once a card is declined, the order is DELETED (literally)! There is no way to get back to it so I called again assuming someone could help me do this more easily. This time I went directly to sales (not kitchen sales) and the phone was answered relatively quickly. The person tried to transfer me and make me wait again and I asked for a manager. She seemed to empathize with me and put me on a brief hold to talk to her manager. She told me that her manager was going to work on my order and would call me back in no more than 30 minutes. 60 minutes goes by and still no return call. I tried again and was told the same thing..they'd call me. Finally I gave up and my husband and I went out to dinner. I had worked at my desk and waited for 2.5 hours and was incredibly frustrated. All I wanted to do was to pay for my order!! Finally--still no call (never came)--I get home and there is a payment link in my email. Great--I go to pay and this time I pay with my business card to make sure it will go thru. There is no option to change billing address, so I didn't think about this. Go to bed and am psyched all is finished. I wake up in the morning to find that AGAIN my credit card declined and this time because my billing address was not correct. OMG -- I was never (on the phone or in the computer) asked to verify my billing address. Back to square one. FINALLY--I decided to print out my original order and hand key my order back into the online store myself. I realize that it is no use to call customer service because they don't understand the meaning of SERVICE and their systems are so archaic that they delete orders when a credit card is declined. I had a 16 page order (yes--$12K) and I almost walked away but I had invested so much time into the endeavor I was determined to make it work. Now, of course, I've read the nightmare shipping stories from other consumers and am terrified that we'll have issues on that end, too, but I am crossing fingers and hoping for a miracle. After this I will literally NEVER order another ikea item. Their processes make no sense because they totally inconvenience their customers. In this day and age, these issues should be EASY FIXES. Ikea--spend some $ and fix these ridiculous glitches. I am way too busy to do this again!! I guess it's true...you really do get what you pay for. Ikea's prices are really good, but their integrity and customer service is the pits!! Good luck everyone.

Even rating Ikea with 1 star is too much, for online Ordering and screwing up an order with no ability to contact and resolve, 76 minute wait time on the phone, finally get someone to answer who then tells you after you state the issue that you "reached the wrong department", places you on hold and then get an automated message that the department you are calling is closed and disconnects you, please try again later. I ordered a Bekant Computer Desk online, all went well till it never showed on the estimated date, was 3 days later, then when it did show only 1 of 2 boxes arrived, the box that arrived was the desktop, no underframe, multiple attempts to reach Customer Service via e-mail and over the phone turned into 1 to 2 hour waits with nobody answering, 7 days to get an e-mail response and and my bank told me they cannot do anything about it so now I'm stuck with a $200 particle board table top that is useless unless I run to the local Home Depot and get some 2 x 4's and make my own desk. How Ikea even is in business or is allowed to be in business with this type of SCAM is beyond words, AVOID AT ALL COST!

This review is based on Ikea Online, whatever you do, DO NOT ORDER FROM IKEA ONLINE!. This was my first and last experience with Ikea, seeing I have a local store only 30 miles away, I should have just driven the distance in bad traffic to get the item, but i took the $9 delivery fee thinking it was easier, wrong again! I ordered a Bekant Computer Desk, Ikea charged my Debit Card for the full amount before it even shipped, then I got a e-mail notification of the order and a estimated delivery time of 3 to 5 days, well that came and went, Ikea sent me a shipping confirmation and a FedEx tracking number that showed the item was being shipped from a local Distrubution Center around 2 hours away, so I thought okay, should be here tomorrow based on previous orders, wrong again, the Tracking sat for 3 days stating "Label Created/Pending". This is where it got interesting, it said on the tracking "1 Box", but I knew this was a mistake since the item page clearly state's it comes in 2 boxes with different article numbers to form the top level Bekant Desk, so I attempted to contact Ikea Customer Service, e-mailed them, no response, still no response a week later. I also tried calling them, but the 1 hour wait time with nobody picking up ended with me hanging up the phone and just waiting for the item to arrive with little hope it was right. Well it shows up 3 days later, FedEx drops off one box, I knew my order was messed up because the box was less than 2 inches thick and low and behold Ikea messed up the order and only shipped me the wood desktop and no underframe! So needless to say I was pissed, I tried calling them again but after 1 hour I got nobody to pick up, sent another e-mail using their "Missing Parts" online form, took me 3 times before it went through mind you. So here I am with an incomplete order, useless wood/particle board desktop and no stand/underframe and my Debit Card is charged for the full amount. I contacted my bank to dispute the charge, stating I cannot get in contact with Ikea at all, no responses and nobody answers, they are current investigating it and it say's in the dispute form that they cannot credit back $ for things received, so looking at the piece I received that's $80 of useless desktop and perhaps I get the cost of the underframe or all back? Who knows, in the time I spent and wasted, I would have just drove to the nearest store and would have got the order right. Maybe I'll go to the local home store and buy some 2 x 4's and make a frame for my $80 useless piece of a desk from Ikea's terrible customer service?

My order was scheduled to be delivered on 3/30/18. On 3/29/2018 I received a phone call that stated that my delivery would be made on 3/30/18 between 11 and three pm AND that I would receive a 30-minute phone call ahead of the delivery time. I have a voicemail that states both. I received no 30-minute phone call instead, I received a phone call from the delivery company that said they were at my address. I told them I was 10 minutes away and never received my 30-minute call ahead notice. They were rudely stated, "who told you that?" and I stated that was the phone call I received last night at 9 PM. I arrived at the address ten minutes later with no delivery. I proceeded to speak on the phone and we placed on hold with two different ladies from IKEA for over an hour. This is unacceptable customer service from IKEA and the delivery company who refuses to deliver my order as agreed. As a business owner, I could never run a business like this making promises to customers and not following through.

The actual in store purchasing process is fine, I had no issue there. However, if you need something delivered, or god forbid something is missing/needs replaced because of damage - then you're in BIG trouble. These people never answer the phones, and their website conveniently does not work. I have done the 45min - 1.5hr wait times on the phones 5 times - and that was just to get my item delivered properly. Now when I call to get items sent that were missing/damaged I get "All circuits are busy" every single time I call - I have been trying to call them for 2 weeks now. So I tried to email via the website - they have a nice section to fill out your information and submit your needs but THERE IS NO SUBMIT BUTTON anywhere on the website. The only way I could submit was through the non-United States side of the website (no chance this customer service team can figure out that my order is from the US. Not even sure what to do at this point, and will never have anything delivered from them again.

Love Ikea products. However the customer service experience is the WORST I have ever dealt with. Had to have a delivery of items; missing pieces; called to have replaced missing items-- after getting the "all circuits are busy" with the only number available for an hour, then on hold for AN HOUR rep assisted. Called today to see when replacement of missing parts would be delivered as scheduled for today and no one called to let us know. Waited an HOUR to get a representative who then told me the delivery company had no record of the order but online it still said it was coming today. She said she couldn't help me and would send me to someone else to assist and then on hold for another HOUR! I work for a living and after three hours had to hang up. NO one has time for this ridiculous run-around. Seriously Ikea, I have never had such an awful experience.

Ordered a bedroom of furniture they promised delivery 3/26/18 between 8 am and 5 pm they LIED did not deliver today either 3/27. After reading all of the same type of complaints no delivery no response put on hold hung up on. As a financial professional I can tell you this company is running low on cash and the next step is BANKRUPTCY DO NOT BUY FROM THEM THE WORD IS OUT IF YOU PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD CALL YOUR CC COMPANY NOW AND STOP PAYMENT SAME WITH CHECKS. THIS COMPANY USED TO BE REPUTABLE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE SAME ANYMORE!

I give the store for being there and having stuff inside a rating of One Star. Don't count on anyone inside to assist you in buying what you want. Their "mechanical sale" process is annoying. No one helps you find anything. Groups of yellow shirt people walk thru the store laughing and socializing while ignoring customers needing help. I can't see the appeal of press wood, laminates and poorly made furniture. I can find the same tableware at the Dollar Store. Don't waste the hours you will spend just walking into the place. No way out of the stupid maze. They're hoping you'll spend some money while lost. Especially after the second hour, you'll have to be herded thru their cafeteria. I won't be back.

I have been on the phone for TWO DAYS and cannot place my kitchen order. No one is helpful at all. They keep saying they will call me, and no one does. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone on the phone.

Love IKEA! Drive 2 hours to shop there. What went wrong? I purchased furniture that required delivery. The delivery was not complete and as a result I have spent, literally, hours on hold trying to get the rest of my furniture delivered! For the same amount of time I could have driven down and purchased a another piece myself! While on hold, of course, you are constantly thanked for your patience and told how important customer service is to IKEA...seriously???

Ikea had an international recall of dressers after several people died due to the faulty design. My piece was recalled as well, but I never received the refund that was to be paid. Ikea supposedly has sent me a check (without a tracking number!) 6 times in the past 6 months, which I have never received. Countless phone calls and countless emails later, I still don't have my refund. I found a forum where thousands of other customers affected by the recall have also not received a refund.

Our in-store experiences have been great, but considering the closest location is 2 hours away, we tried to order something online. Big mistake. After waiting for a week, we only received a small part of an order. There were no markings on the box to show this was "box #1 of #" or anything similar. We called customer service to attempt to find the rest of our order. That was mistake #2. It got to the point where my wife and I were both on the phone, waiting for over an hour, in the hopes that at least one of us would get an answer. Instead of finding help to find the rest of our order, we're looking for help to process a return and refund. I wouldn't expect this level of poor customer service from a local one-person business, let alone a billion-dollar multinational business. Never again. If you can't physically go to an IKEA store to find what you're looking for, don't even bother.

I will never order anything from IKEA online and have it delivered to my home. Once my order was shipped, I had been contacted (by the third party shipper) that my items would be delivered the next day between 2-6 pm. Then an hour later, another person called and said no, no one called with shipping times because she just finished the route and the times are 12-4. What? I am pretty sure the voicemail message said 2-6 from said shipping company. I was then told I would get a call 1 hour prior to delivery. So fast forward one day...I get a call at 10:38 am from the truck driver asking if anyone was at home? Why I asked? Because they (the truck with my items) was at my home. What?? What happened to calling an hour prior to delivery which was supposed to be between 12-4?? Luckily, my father had went to my home early and was there to let them in. Blah. I will NEVER EVER order anything online from IKEA, what a nightmare.

I paid for two kitchen drawer fronts in-store to take home as "samples". The one was available in-store, the other had to be ordered and I was told that I would receive it in a week. First, I was double charged for the Voxtorp drawer front. Next, the Kallarp part that was supposed to be delivered has not yet been delivered (it's been a month and a half). I've called Ikea Customer Service 3 times and spent more than an hour and a half on hold, and have yet to speak to someone who can help me.

Ordered bed. 3 of 5 boxes arrived. 1.5 hrs waiting for phone, told deliver in 4-7 days. A month later, deliver schedule but didn't arrive and no call to tell me. Called delivery, told warehouse issue, would call back. Never called back, called them, told weight limit in my neighborhood...no such thing for boxes that weigh maybe 50 pounds, no problem with big vans coming to my building, referred back to IKEA, put on hold while "researched", after an hour phone cut off. Now waiting for 45 min for delivery co to " research". I paid for this stuff in Dec, it is now mid March and cannot get any answers. Still don't have a bed!
