You are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I paid you a deposit of £142.30. You were then chasing me for the balance knowing full well that my holiday of 19th June could not go ahead due to Corona virus not allowing us to stay at another property until at least 4th July. You paid me the paltry sum of £18.66 and are keeping the rest, over £120. You truly are despicable but I am determined that I will get my money back from you because of this frustrated contract. Nasty, nasty people

As a cottage owner contracted to Sykes I gave them notice to terminate our contract as I’ve been appalled by the way they’ve treated both holidaymakers and owners during the COVID19 crisis. It took them 8 days to acknowledge this - and then only after I called them out over Twitter - because, in their own words ‘they had an awful lot of terminations of contracts to get through’. Hardly surprising. They closed their call centre, won’t answer emails and yet have plenty of time to advertise and comment on their social media pages. Their customer service (Or lack of it), has been shocking... wont give full refunds and trying to pit holidaymakers and owners against each other. The only winner out of this whole situation appears to be Sykes, who seem to think they above Government guidance and make the rules up as they go along. Can’t wait to be free of them as an owner and will never book a holiday through them again either. I begrudge giving them even 1 star.

I would have preferred to leave a no star review even that would be to good for Sykes, booked a cottage but due to lockdown unable to go even TOLD by Sykes I must not travel to the cottage, offered a credit note which I refused as I had already seen negative comments from other disappointed customers who couldn’t receive a refund even though CMA and government said companies must offer a cash refund, cannot get through by telephone they do not answer e mails never ever will I use Sykes Cottages again and will let everyone know what a despicable company they are.

Avoid avoid avoid please took the money for an holiday they knew I could never go on, then ignored emails and phone calls to try and get it back, still trying after two months, took money of me when I could least afford it. Will never ever use them or any holiday home owners who use them.

Refused to refund us the balance after we changed the date and now we have to spend £175 or lose it. Look very carefully at their terms and conditions as there are no circumstances that they would give you a refund.

Chasing us for money for a holiday that we can't take due to the current situation. No empathy shown at all, just keep quoting T&C's which are now frustrated as they can't fulfill there obligation. Mercenary, money grabbing company who don't deserve any custom.

I had my holiday in Wales cancelled by the owner, they deliberately kept quiet not realising that I knew, hoping I would pay the balance so they could keep it. When I didn't they thought they could keep the deposit.....wrong! When I told them I had evidence of their devious plans, they offered a refund, but have only given me the £61 returned by the owner and are keeping the 'owners commission', offering only an ex gratia credit for future bookings which I can't make because the owner is so mad that she has withdrawn the property. They have cut off the phones and refuse to refund in cash. Disgraceful company, the worst of the 8 companies I have dealt with during the Covid crisis. I have rebooked with the others, but these cowboys can go to hell for dirty dealing. I am still fighting for my legal rights and will take them to court if necessary

I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life . We have all suffered from this awful situation that the country is in and lost of people including myself have lost income due to this. We were due to travel at end of March and Sykes cancelled our holding and we are still awaiting money from them. They have kept nearly £100 of my hard earned money and I have emailed them countless times and called and you just get a standard generic email and no answer to the questions asked. Please avoid them

Sykes merit no star at all! Sykes Holiday Cottages is a despicable business. I will never book ever again with them and never ever recommend them to my friends and family. I paid a deposit in good faith in January for a holiday in Wales in June. On March 23rd 2020, the UK went in lockdown because of COVID-19. As the weeks went on, it became obvious I would not be able to go to Wales for a holiday in June or for many months. I cancelled because I DID NOT TRUST Sykes Holiday Cottages. I did not want this dishonest company to have more of my money. I have written many emails explaining the contract was frustrated because of the lockdown and that I wanted a FULL REFUND. I got automated replies which did not answer my questions/problem. Recently, I have been offered a ridiculous amount of money as a refund and the rest as a voucher as a gesture of goodwill. It's MY money! I want it all back! I have contacted the Competition and Markets Authority which stipulates that "Consumer law requires that a full refund is offered if a business has cancelled a contract without providing any of the promised goods or services. This includes if no service is provided because of restrictions during the current lockdown or if a consumer cancels because of the restrictions." As a summary, an honest company refunds in FULL their customers. Sykes fails to do that simple honest gesture. The money paid is the customer's and Sykes did not provide a service because of the pandemic but pocketed the money. Despicable behaviour!

I was first put off Sykes when I booked a cottage that was considerably smaller than the pictures led me to believe. I have used them since, unwittingly, when I have booked through a company that has become part of their group. One such occasion, I had paid in full but received a further charge from Sykes. On this occasion, the property owner contacted me to check I had not paid the additional charge, telling me she was withdrawing her property from them because of such instances. What I have seen them doing to their customers during the Covid 19 lock down has only served to reaffirm my dislike of Sykes. I have watched people, already stressed because of the virus, fighting to retrieve their money from bookings that Sykes has consistently avoided to say have been cancelled. The only thing I can say for them is that they are consistent - consistently undeserving of customers in the future.

Do not deal with this company or it’s affiliates. The 50 plus emails it took to retrieve my money, which included threats of legal action etc. Do yourself a favour book directly with the owner , not agents who take at least 20% in commission.

Despicable This despicable “company” has taken full advantage of this terrible covid situation, by taking innocent people’s hard earned money for holidays they simply cannot take. Not only have they taken it but now they refuse to refund it. Not only that, they now blame it on the cottage owners themselves. They tried this with me but luckily I was prepared and equipped to fight it and eventually win. I will never use Sykes Cottages again and I will make sure that no one I know does either. I was a loyal customer but like many others I am no longer. You have made the lives of many people who are at rock bottom even worse. This will not be forgotten.

I really cannot add anything more to whats already been said Sykes must be the worst company i have ever come across. They do not understand customer service they keep money illegally which by law should be refunded. They make threats to customers who quite rightly seek to get there money back through legal action that in its self says alot about this company i shall welcome the day with great joy when this company goes under along with all the people who have treated so many people disgracefully.

Sykes seem to have moved from Cheshire into a parallel universe where there are no travel restrictions, no need to look after your customers and no need to look after your property owners. I was due to go the week that lock down started but decided 2 weeks before it would be impossible as the shops were empty and things were closing down. We also had 2 people in our party who had health problems & the government were saying stay at home. I told this to Sykes and their response was that there was no official restriction on travel so if I cancelled I would forfeit all the money I had paid. It was almost as if they hadn't read the email I'd sent them. I rebooked for later in the year under duress but if I go it will be my last ever holiday with Sykes.

Shockingly unacceptable attitude towards holidaymakers during Covid-19. Corporate arrogance at its best. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Holiday booked for mid July, one member of the party can't travel as classed as vulnerable. Been emailing Sykes for weeks asking for help to change dates but have been ignored. This leaves me with little choice but to cancel our holiday and loose our deposit before Sykes take the final payment.
