How they can say "it's not our policy to give refunds" when the actual Government has banned travel is beyond me, I can only hope they will go out of business very quickly after the lockdown is all over. Paid £958 for a week's holiday with friends, thank goodness I took out insurance! Now to go through the rigmarole of trying to claim it back (won't see that money again though) … Just as well I don't have anywhere to go for 3 weeks!

Sykes holiday cottages withdrew our property but refused refunds. Our only option is to cancel and lose the money or reschedule and pay a grossly inflated price but how do we know when we will be free to do so? We'd rather have the money back in our account not sat in theirs for 12 months quite frankly. Sykes aren't releasing the funds to property owners for the cancelled bookings so are literally hoarding the cash. Surely this is illegal? Appalling company, we'll continue to fight for our refund but regardless of outcome we will never use them again and we urge anyone else reading this to stay far away and not do business with a company like this.

Refusing refunds. Hearing reports from other customers who have contacted the property owners that Sykes aren't releasing the funds to property owners for the cancelled bookings so Sykes are literally hoarding the cash. Surely this is illegal by this point? We've had our holiday cancelled by Sykes and they are refusing to refund. Our only options are to cancel and lose the money or reschedule and pay a grossly inflated price. To top it off, Sykes are now flooding trustpilot with fake/paid or incentivized reviews in an attempt to limit the damage the negative reviews are causing. Appalling company, we'll continue to fight for our refund but regardless of outcome we will never use them again and we urge anyone else reading this to stay far away and not do business with a company like this.

Property owners to get £10k property… Property owners to get £10k per property from gov as Covid support package. Sykes policy ridiculous given this. Only people getting done is there customers. Will never use again. Even more dodgy are all the positive reviews On trust pilot

Wish I could put no stars. In the present circumstances of the Coronavirus Pandemic - and the Govt Advice on travel and lockdown from yesterday evening the behaviour and approach of Sykes Cottages is immoral, unreasonable and just 'money-grabbing'. No response from their call centre and still no reasonable movement on even part-refunds. Avoid using Sykes Cottages - they are untrustworthy and inconsiderate.

We have a holiday booked for 4th April for 2 weeks. Obviously we are in lockdown and cannot go but Sykes are refusing to refund any holidays. They say we can amend our dates, but there is nothing available as we are restricted to school holidays. The first available 2 week period during a school holiday is April 2021 and they want over £100 more for it. Absolutely disgusting, I won't ever book with Sykes again, or their many other brands.

Wish we could put no stars. Cannot get through to Sykes at all, fone is dead, chats online not working, no email address we can find. My hubby did leave them a message last week to call him, what a joke. We have a holiday booked on 16 May with friends who are all over 70 and one has heart problems etc and over 70's have been told to isolate themselves for 12 weeks. Well Sykes you can do one as we are not paying the additional money you are now asking for if we cancel not due to us but the situation. We don't want to book next year and guess what the card we used has expired so go on you try and get the money... hope they read these... NEVER will I book with them again and we always use them.

I echo previous comments. The website only gives option to amend dates. Dates are already booked up for summer holidays etc. Additional cost if you swap choice of cottage. Obviously reduced call handling timescales so that they do not have to take calls. I cannot even get the line to connect.. It just disconnects every time!! A very poor experience which the company should be held accountable by the ombudsmen. It is in times like this you get to see the true ethics of a company...Sykes Cottages you should be very, very embarrassed and ashamed of how you are profiting on peoples misfortune. I encourage everyone affected by this to tell as many people as possible. Maybe then Sykes Cottages will either change their decision or ultimately lose a lot of future business

After trying today to contact Skye and no answers about my holiday to Anglesey in may and paying £146 and taking out a insurance which didn’t want to refund our deposit and holidays next year are too expensive we cancelled our holiday , as we paid through our Visa card we are going to try and get our deposit back as I know they normally have to as we had a similar problem a few years ago and had our money back , disgusting company will never book with them again

So it not just me! Sykes prefer to keep their property investors in pocket when we get to lose, in my case £719 for a weekend in Dart Marina. This is Force Majeure, terms and conditions go out the window. Getting in touch with Devon Live and Trading Standards. Give me my money back...lots of companies are taking a hit why should Sykes be protected.

I booked a holiday cottage but because of the corona virus situation was unable to go on holiday when I contacted Sykes cottages I was told that they don’t do refunds but I could postpone when I tried to book the same week next year they wanted an £82 pounds to book it when I spoke with their customer service(that’s a joke) I was told I would have to put up with the increase. HORRIBLE people please do not give your hard earned to these greedy profiteers

I echo previous comments..we have a holiday booked for this Friday..this was for a one off family event so we are unable to re-book with any certainty that everyone would be able to attend in the future and in any event the moment has passed. Sykes are not offering any refunds unlike similar companies..airbnb to name but one, only amendments to your booking which for us are all more expensive than the price we originally paid and then they expect you to pay the difference, thus not honouring their contract with the customer. There is no flexibility with amendments ie to re-amend at a later date if need be for no charge, but more importantly no option for credit or vouchers to be used in the next 2 years as per government advice to the industry. I have phoned, live chat and emailed on numerous occasions and got little or no helpful response to my concerns...As the amendment policy says you have to amend within 48 hrs of your holiday we are in the position that we will be forced to do this within the next 24 hrs, choosing a date we are not sure we can use and, incurring considerable extra cost or we will lose our money completely. We do have insurance but they will only consider reimbursing the customer if they have Covid 19 or are in isolation or if the holiday company offer no alternative..which Sykes do...but theirs is a very one sided affair with little consideration for the individual circumstances of the client. I have had good experience with Sykes in the past and I know this is a difficult time for businesses too, but Sykes attitude in this instance has certainly changed my perspective of them and I would think long and hard before using this company again. They should be looking closely and urgently at and revising their policy as there are obviously many other unhappy people in the same situation as us. Sykes get a grip...

Paid holiday for 11th April in full early this year £900 to rearrange it would cost us a further £260 but un able to move to next year as two members of the party are key workers and their shift patterns will be changed. No refund what so ever. No compassion from this company I WILL NOT USE THEM EVER AGAIN!!!! I'm self employed and like so many lost my work, as a nation we are helping each other. Not sykes they are selfish, heartless and going by their Facebook page property owners will be moving to another company, so do the right thing and refund everyone who is unable to rearrange. Those people are saving this nation just remember that if a loved one is needing life saving care...... thank you sykes for absolutely nothing!!!

Booked a Sykes Holiday cottage in Pembrokeshire for beginning of May for 7 nights. £576 pound for a week which is great and used company many times before. Paid an initial deposit of £70 and the remainder of the balance is due to come out on Friday so I thought I’d ring them to get an update due to government advising on non essential travel etc. Well the women I spoke to couldn’t have been more rude. She said it’s likely you won’t be able to go in May but you can select an alternative date later in the year. The only availability now was in November & December and all of a sudden the prices have more than doubled. I said wow that’s expensive it’s normally much cheaper at that time of year. She said it is what it is Mr Barry and you can always cancelled but we’ll still take another £187 of you for the original booking. I said thanks for that. I believe your just exploiting people because of the current situation. She said that’s business Mr Barry I could have quite happily wrapped the bloody telephone cord around her neck had I been in the same room😡😡😡😡I shall have the last laugh I cancelled the credit card registered with them so won’t be able to take anymore money from me and also changed my details on their online account so good luck contacting me also😂😂I shall make it my mission to tell as many people as is possible to avoid Sykes at all costs

I will be going to the ombudsman and contacting the House of Commons, I work in government and will be raising this as they are the only rogue holiday firm out there with no integrity honour or sensitivity. Could I rely on all you other disgruntled customers for support if required?

Exploiting a bad national situation! Lockdown no pleasure travel and still no refund. Your policy should be changed for this situation as it is one never experienced before! How come everywhere else is amending their policies and regs but you can’t - you dont deserve to retain business. This was our holiday before grandchildren go off to uni this year and our son moves abroad to work so to postpone till next Easter means we have a place for 11 with only 2 able to go! The letter from the CEO is very polite but no where near enough how can you now tell customers they. Can’t go on their holiday but refuse to refund! Diabolical treatment of your customers and I agree with all of the comments made on tv this evening about Sykes cottages and none of them were complimentary!
